Hi Bro, this baby has just been born. Give him a few days to find his feet (20 - 30 days) and the sat. world in all africa will never be the same again. Newdawn is our Nilesat. Hundreds of fta channels english and french in hd mpeg4.
Test transmissions start in afew days.
Keep on checking lyngsat and kingsofsat for the active tps.
Ps. Its on the same location as galaxy 11 where we get ocational goodies.

Intelsat new dawn is now up in space, its headed to orbital position 32.8e. Are you ready to receive the goodies (mpeg4 hd stb + hd tv)

Has anyone used the BISCO Digital Cable Receiver? I saw one at my cousins place and the way it functions is that the analogue signals from cable distributors which is supposed to be connected to the rf entry of the tv is instead connected to the BISCO box such that about 200 channel are opened instead of the around 50 channels which would have been watchable. I don’t know if this box is a dongle since I ain’t into dongles yet. I’ve searched the ‘net to no avail for info about this box ‘cos I’d love to have it. The cable operators here sell them only to their clients who pay a monthly fee for their subscription cards to remain active. If any one has any info on this box, please help me out with it. Secondly, I don’t know if that is how the mc b works. No Internet connectivity required.

That's the way to go my friend. No internet conectivity required with this boxes. From the original model from germany 2 years ag0 which cost 500$ today we have chinnese models which cost less than 100$. All that you do is connect to 2 sats. That you. Want to open and there you. Have it. All the $ channels are yours for the choosing. The chinnese models are clones goin under difernt names, (birds names like eagle, hawk, robin, crow, etc) and they are doing the job.
Ps. Watching pay tv without valid subsription is illegal

New dawn and launch companion yahsat 1a are still on the ground after the launch was dramatically called of with only 7 seconds on the countdown to go. No new date has been given for the next launch attempt.
With sats you have to be patient, after the launch the sat has to be steered to its orbital position (32. and then thorough tests are done on all systems before its activated. This takes 4 to 6 weeks. Nilesat 201 was launched on 4/8/2010 and was. Ativated in late october. Intelsat 17 was launched on 26/11/2010 and activated in feb 2011 so please expect the signal from new dawn in late may if all goes well. The beams will cover the whole region and not only east africa, BB is smilling ear to ear but not for long.

@llish, go for it. Watch bb illegaly and experience total satellite freedom. 100+ channels free. All you need is the right equipment connected to the right sats and yu're good to go. And there's nothin bb can do about it.

Good news, Ten days to go. Intelsat new dawn is being launched on 29th march. Their adverts make me salivate in anticipation of the goodies that will be on 32.8 degrees. This means good bye to BB. Just google their site and see all the partners coming on board. Let us keep our fingers closed and hope they don't disapoint like the much hyped up nilesat 201. New dawn is by africans, for africans, to africans. This will be like dish network in the USA. 800 channels fta. Can you handle that.

I deliberatly left out the sat & frequency because I want all satmates on nairaland to be able to do research on their own. Fta hobby is a diy bussiness.

2011 is turning out to be the year we have all been waiting for. Am in satelite heaven and we are not yet through the 1st quarter yet. More manna from above on the way - intelsat new dawn @ 33e, yahsat 1a @ 52.5e, arabsat 5c @ 20e, ew3c @16e, astra 4b @ 5e and AB 7 @7w all before august. Arm yourselves satmates with proper equipment to gather all the manna that you can. ie mpeg4hd recievers and motorised dishes. This could well be the beggining of the end of pay tv unless they make their prices more people friendly. There's a new channel golfe tv international. Just scan your favorite sat.

The qulity level fractuates between 45% & 90%. As I said keep on rescaning and get more or less channels. I don't know what they are up to but the sat looks promising. Its about time nairalanders learnt swahilli from itv. Me thinks this guys are fine tunning their equipment and then they hit us for de money.

This 17 or is it 22 channels are really misbehaving, 1 hour on 1hr off, misspelt names - al jajeera!!! . Be patient and keep rescanning as more channels keep coming & going. eg dubai sport.
