AgriculturePlease Is Pepper Spray Insecticides Really Good For Plants? by my2chains(op): 5:58am On Jan 02, 2020
Hello house,

please is pepper spray used as an insecticide good for plants?
I mean does it truelly chase pest away and do not hurt the plant,

the reason why am yet to test it is because of its sharp pains it gives to the body so i thought it may also cause a serious injury to my okro plants

although i have been buying chemical insecticides but this year i want to cut cost and try my hands on organic pepper spray insecticides,

please for those that have used it or are still using it,

do tell me how i can apply it to my plants without it causing any damage,

how many times can i apply the spray in a week so to chase away pest

how effective it is when used right,

can someone here tell me how to mix the right dose to apply on plants so it can work out fine

i heard i still need to add groundnut or olive oil so to make the pepper particles stick to the leaves of the plant for it to stay for days and chase away pest

i read some farmers have been using it on their big hectares of land and its really working

all this are questions disturbing my minds and i need answers

thanks

sorry to say this but in calabar water leaf there is a gold mine,

AgricultureRe: Please Is Water Leaf Farming Really Profitable? by my2chains(op): 3:58pm On Dec 29, 2019
By the way water leaf can be harvested after just 3 weeks of planting the stems to the ground,

even the dirty looking aboki's here in my area has water leaf farms,

one elderly man once told me,
my son as far you can be able to master and grow any kind of vegetable

just take it to the market because there will always be a buyer there for it.

So am wondering do water leaf farming command more market?

Although it cant be compared to pepper farming

but you know half bread is better than none
AgriculturePlease Is Water Leaf Farming Really Profitable? by my2chains(op): 3:50pm On Dec 29, 2019
I have been thinking deeply on this but am yet to see an answer or to conclude,

although i had my mind on beans farming but saw otherwise from some beans farmer here in nairaland that regrets going into beans farming this year,

now my mind is changed towards water leaf farming,

i dont know how profitable water leaf farming is here in lagos,

the farmers i know that cultivates them looks dirty but still yet they say its profitable

the last time i checked, a bag filled with water leaf is sold #2,500

sometimes it goes all up to #5000,

and thats during the raining season

i heard someone can get up to 20 bags in just one plot per harvest,

please how true is this?

this are things we need to know because not everyone should go into pepper, tomato, cucumber, okro and the rest that are very much popular here,

if all of us should go into one type of farming then there would be a glut in the market,

some need to try and do others so to balance it.

Please i need your advice here if water leaf farming is really profitable or not

thanks

pilot programs or test farms are there for a reason, you don't have to wonder why farmers in the south don't plant beans, get one plot and plant beans and check the outcome if it is profitable or not,but I doubt if you can get up to half bag of beans from one plot,if it's not high value crops ,I am not interested, even planting Cavendish bananas on one plot will give you far more value than beans
hmm it seems beans afterall is not that profitable,

but i keep on wondering why the north likes planting it

maybe it has no stress growing even without water thats why they so much like it,

but here in lagos i have never seen one single beans farmer

anyways it seems i will dive into another crop apart from beans

just needed to know anyways

Beans is not profitable nowadays, iam a beans farmer in Niger state but I will not farm it next year because of two reasons 1- low selling price, currently the price of 100kg bag in Niger state is less than 13k while before is 20k upward.2-the yield per hectare is very low,I planted three hectare this year but I only got 22 bags.
ok thanks but how much did it cost you planting beans in the whole 3 hectares?

You stay in the north where foodstuffs are more cheaper

but someone who stays in lagos will gain more selling it

how many months does it stay before you start harvesting them?

And is the buyers available already or you are to source for it yourself

I keep on wondering why people hardly discuss planting beans here in this forum
please is it really profitable because i will like to try my hands on it?
the little i have researched showed me that beans dont need too much water and it can grow well even when not taken good care of,
but i keep on wondering why people hardly plant beans for a living
they say only the norths plant beans but am wondering how come,
beans take little space to be planted onlike other plants but it tends to feel like no one cares about it
is it that beans is not profitable after harvesting it or is it that there is no available market to go and sell them?
or maybe the harvesting and peeling and shiftering process is too hard,
i just keep wondering and poundering on my mind why people dont go into beans farming
is the growing proccess too long and tiring?
i dont know if someone here can enlighten me on this so i can think otherwise
thanks

I'll start on a plot or half plot for now. Not in a hurry cos I don't want to end up getting my hands burnt.

I already planted cucumber on a separate land. Done it before but in a small scale. Hope it commands good price in the market during dry season? Sold at Coke Onitsha for 3500 per bag this past October.
how many cucumbers on average can fill a bag before been sold?

Or is it just measured out and be put inside a sack bag till it is filled up?

Like how many bags can you get from just a plot of land per harvest
