Vegetable farming, Producing vegetables such as tomatoes, ugwu, watermelon, cucumber, pepper, okro, ewedu, etc, can guarantee you a bumper harvest and an amazing return on investment [every 60 days] that could reach100 percent in profit. Lets take you into the world of successful vegetable farmers who not only reveal the above stated fact but guide you on the lucrative journey of successfully farming, this very important source of vitamins and minerals that forms an essential source of the human diet. This article has the potential to spark something in you that would ginger you to action and bring an end to such things as unemployment and lack in your life forever. Vegetable Farming And Other Types Of Farming Mr. Adesanya Abdulhakeem, Director, Shore-man Agro Farm Limited, Gbodo Village, Ijede, Ikorodu, Lagos, is an expert in vegetable farming. He says, “There is no much difference between vegetable farming and other types of farming. The only little difference is the duration of cultivation and maturity. Depending on the variety planted, vegetables take very short time to mature, compared to other crops. For instance, “Ewedu” – Corchorous Olitorius – takes less than three months to mature. Others like cucumber, pepper among others, may take more than three months to mature. Even at that, you cannot compare vegetables to a crop like cassava or yam which can take up to a year to mature. Another slight difference in cultivation is that you may need to make flat beds to plant vegetables while other crops may be planted on flat ground. However, there are some vegetables that are planted on flat ground like cucumber and water melon, among others”. How Lucrative Is Vegetable Farming? Abdulhakeem says, “It is a lucrative business in the sense that it takes shorter period to mature and also, there are demands for vegetables in the market. It is a lucrative agricultural business, compared with, for instance, cassava that stays a year or more in the ground – enough time and land for three planting seasons in case of vegetables”. A very popular farmer, Mr. Africanfarmer Mogaji, says cucumber, as an example, provides a unique combination of nutrients and that as a result of its demand in Nigeria, trucks of cucumber come in from Benin Republic daily to our markets to try to meet up with the demand. He adds that this is a product that anyone can grow here in Nigeria and start earning cool cash three months later. Mogaji says whatever amount you invest in cucumber, it can be turned around in 60 days with 100 percent profit. On Tomato farming, Mogaji says it is so lucrative that Ghanaians have been coming to Nigeria to tap into the tomato market. He says these Ghanaians and very few Nigerians bring tomatoes from Ghana into Nigeria and that they outsell the Hausa Tomato dealers. He says a box of these Ghana tomatoes is sold for between N20,000 and N30,000 [less than half of what it costs to grow them] and that it takes the traders three days to cross all the borders. “If you produce tomatoes in the south west of Nigeria [about six hours from Lagos] or the northern part of the country [12 hours maximum from Lagos] why can’t you outsell the Ghanaians right here in your own backyard?” Mogaji asks. For those who consider Ghanaian tomatoes as special and would readily come up with all the reasons why tomato cultivation cannot enrich anybody, Mogaji says, “Let me inform you that I plant the same type of tomatoes in Nigeria and package it as if it is coming from Ghana. Anyone can pull this off”. Concerning watemelon, Mogaji says very few products sell as much as watermelons in Nigeria. He adds that he makes over 100 percent turnover on his investment in watemelon alone every three months. |
Recruit members of staff Ensure you mechanise your farm’s processes as much as possible. You need to employ labourers and a farm manager. Most farm labourers in Nigeria are from the Republic of Benin and the Republic of Benin. You can also employ people who live near your farm. Never make the mistake of employing those with big qualifications without experience as your farm manager. I know farm managers who studied non—agric courses and they are performing far better than those with advanced degrees in agronomy. Experience is very important in farming. Weeding Weeds can reduce your yield by as much as 98%. Weeds also harbour pests and diseases. You should ensure that your farm is weed free. There are small mechanized weeders you can use to make weeding very easy for you. Fertilisation If your okra farming is based on organic farming principles, you can use bio-fertilisers, manure, microbial inoculants and humates. For inorganic farmers, you can use fertilizers like NPK, urea, DAP, calcium nitrate and potassium nitrate etc. Buy your fertilizers from accredited dealers. Application of pesticides This also depends on whether you are an organic okra farmer or an inorganic okra farmer. There are good organic pesticides and also good inorganic pesticides. You just need to decide on the products you want. Most organic pesticides are more effective for prevention. You must apply your pesticides according to the instructions. Also obey the pre harvest interval. Harvesting Harvesting your okra every 2-3 days will help to increase the yield and the well being of the plant. Delaying of harvest can lead to a significant dip in yield. Okra farming can make you smile to the bank if done in the right way. |
Okra farming also called okro farming is one of the most profitable farming ventures you can do in Nigeria. Most if not all Nigerians eat okra, this type of vegetable is used in the preparation of soups. It is not too difficult to be successful in okra farming. You just need to cultivate your okra crop scientifically. Farming is science and you should take it as a very serious business. When you plant your okro crop like the average Nigerian farmer, you are likely to make little or no money from it. How to do okro farming successfully Get a fertile farmland Before you get a farmland for your okra farm, you need to carry out a soil test. The soil test will show the fertility of the soil. It will also show the pH, nutrients and microbial count of your soil. Ensure that your farmland is fertile. If you cannot get a fertile farmland, you can add manure, microbial inoculants and fertilizers to the soil to make it fertile. Farmland preparation To make good money from okro farming, you need to prepare your farmland. Farmland preparation involves felling of trees, de-stumping, ploughing, harrowing and ridging etc. Your soil should be loose with no hard pans. Having ridges can be very beneficial to your okra crop. Mechanised farmland preparation is faster and much more efficient than the use of manual labour especially if your farmland is big. Install drip irrigation I strongly advise you use drip irrigation for your okra farm. With drip irrigation, you can farm all year round. This is called brain fed farming. Rain fed farming allows you to farm only when it is raining. During the rainy season, prices of okra are always very low and you can experience glut. This can lead to loss if you are not careful. With drip irrigation, you can apply fertilizers and other nutrients to your plants through the emitters of the drip tapes. This process is called fertigation, it can increase the yield of your crops by 40-200% if done in the right way. With drip irrigation, you can also significantly increase your okra plant density without any adverse effect. You can buy your drip irrigation from Get good okro seeds A lot of okra seeds sold in Nigeria are expired and not fit for farming. I advise you get your seeds from accredited seeds dealers. Hybrid seeds generally perform better than open pollinated seeds. However, you should plant the variety of okra eaten by the people around your farm. I know a number of farmers who planted varieties of okra Nigerians do not eat. Of course, they recorded losses. You can soak your okro seeds in a solution of potassium humate to increase the germination rate. You can also use biofertilisers and microbial inoculants to improve the germinate rate. Buy other farm inputs Your okra farm will need inputs like fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides etc. You can use 100% organic inputs or inorganic inputs. You can also use both organic and inorganic farm inputs. Ensure you buy your inputs from good farm inputs sellers |
Please who can tell me here the current prize a big basket of tomato and pepper is sold in mile 12 market? Thanks |
majilore:do call the number i have stated here above thanks |
okoroemeka:hmm thats really wonderfull sir, a 10 acre farmland of cucumbers no be beans o! Am sure with this kind of huge project you can get nothing less than 5000 bags of cucumber indeed ogun state really has vast lands meant for farming |
My inspirational vertical sack bag farming |
Lets just crack up some jokes here, I did once saw online of a guy advertising a plantain plantation farm, he said 250 plantains multiplied by 1000 naira that it is been sold will give you 250k in a year, and he said investors will need to invest 450k for the start and make a total of 12.5m in 50 years of the investment lets us ask just 2 people what they think about this project client 1 (the wise one) hmm my name is the wise one, for i am found in the hearts and minds of people who always wants to succeed to me this kind of investment is good but on a slow basis although i am guranteed a return of 250k in a year which can cover up some expenses for me what i will do is that i will invest in it but also add up other investments for back up, since 250k can not litterally take care of all my needs all i need do is invest in it and also invest in another that can help balance it thanks this is what client 2 (the foolish one) has to say for me this kind of investment is all bullshits! Let them use it and shove it up their sisters ass for all i care! Its better i use this 450k to drink up wines and have fun than to waist it all in this stupid man's life looking for an investor. It is far more better i throw the money away into a lagoon than to invest in this already failed project! Although the money is not even close to what i spend in night clubs one day but i better use the money and buy gifts and share to my neighbours and enemies than to invest in this slow rate of investment am even sure as slow as a snail is, it can even outrun this project when it comes to speed of making back your money faster i am rich and i dont deal with this slow returns thunder! will fire that useless man who advertised this nonsense online for us to see am sure the only investors you will see that are ready to invest on you are only your brothers, sisters and your old parents farewell in advance to this your failed project you this fool at heart! A fool at 40 will surely remain a fool forever, and am sure you this poster looking for an investor is above 40 years if am not mistaken so basically it means you will be a fool forever LOL! indeed it so much grievs me seeing you post this nonsense online its better i invest in rams and goats kidnappings than investing in you this coward! Thanks and so this is it, this was the words of the wise and the fooiish one in summary the wise one said he will invest in this slow rate of investment and would also back it up with other profitable investments but the foolish one said he rather uses his money to invest in stealing of people's sheeps and cows to sell rather than investing in the poster failed career. he simply will pay all this hungry aboki mallams to go steal goats and he will surely sell them and make profits LOL! Indeed its really funny this is all for the joke and laughter, i hope we all fall in the category of the wise one blessings! |
Expected profits will be huge, on the first 2 months after the first harvest will recover back your investment, tomato and pepper is available now in the market but will they be available in much quantity in 4-5 months time? Only time will tell quick and smart thinking investors should take note on this and invest early but if you believe this my idea could work in a larger scale for much more profits then you can hit me up so we can go find a bigger land in ogun state and use for it. Just an acre filled with this vertical sack farm will guarantee you multi millions i dont want to sweet talk anyone into doing all this but its by thinking and believing that this concept will truelly work. Some people only act when others have acted and taken part when they now come in to start then it is too late and the posibility of them succeeding will then be slim mind you farming is not a days job but constant hardwork and preserverance if one can eliminate the use of hoes and many farm workers, excess watering that the plants dont even need, buying expensive fertilizers and farm inputs then you will surely make profits just 1000 tomato plants can put you on a commercial scale what about 10,000 tomato plants? Then tell me if you now can have 100k tomato plants with little setup and low expenses till it reaches for harvest hmm thats indeed a gold mine if you can even have half of that, i can help you set it up and show you how to do it, no one is a dullard in anyway, but when you fail to crack up your brains for new inspirations and things to flow in then can one be a dullard this our generation are really lucky knowing things like this kenya has really surpased nigeria in agriculture by far they now have preservatives in storing tomatoes for months while nigerians always complain of tomato waste due to lack of preservation if only we know how to preserve vegetables then all this our problems are solved vertical sack farming is the new deal. Once it is been setup then you only need to watch over it and water appropriately it helps reduce excess watering, for those of you that waters your farmlands in 2 hours or even the whole day, i say welldone and greetings i dont mean you guys are suffering yourselves but i mean all this patterns are now becoming old and needs to be changed look at the kenyans they have surpassed all this since dont you know with white tarpualin and woods one can build a locally made green house? People needs to know things and stop complaining and waiting for government pepper seedlings needs proper care because of its slow rate of growing, tomato grows faster than peppers but peppers are more profitable and yeilds much more in profits than tomatoes indeed all this are really complicated if only you dont know all this you can build chains of businesses by investing in different markets a fool finds pleasures in enjoyments and drinking but a wise one find pleasures in his works and investments some say lets invest in real estate and businesses but they have forgoten the real investment one can make is investing in someones life, this kind of investment will make you rich at the after life (death and the resurrection in heaven) and also rich in this life because if he succeeds in business then automatically you have succeeded its a win win for you but the thing is people have turned good gestures from willing investors to a bad one they make investors feel bad by not doing and following the agreement him and the investor had in the beginning now that the going is all soft and cool with cash flowing in left right and center you will then see him decide to change ship he will then claim to be the boss and the founder of the dream forgeting that any dream or idea without any proper funding and management is just a day dreaming fantasy sometimes i do wish i was even born in kenya or stay close to them to learn all this their new agricultural tricks and inputs even the white mens are copying what kenyans are now doing they are trying to see if science can really backup their claims please my fellow nairalanders lets put our hands together and plan ahead our major enemy here is pure greed! Everyone wants to execute the job and pocket 100% of the whole profit without even sharing or asking for assistance may the lord help us to think like the kenyans so we can grow a word is enough for the wise, but a full page paragragh and essay wont be enough for fools to understand it was in a day someone discovered plants can really be grown hydroponically, it was in a day green house farming was generally accepted and practised worldwide hmmm do you know that man first occupation was farming? When adam cried unto the lord for food, he sent to him an angel who taught him how to grow all kinds of food some said when the floods of noah came to the earth, it flushed most of all the soils nutrients thats why crops are now hard to grow and produce well |
For those that are looking for lands to buy here in lagos, the land is one and a half plot and will be available for sale if buyers are interested 1.5m is the asking prize, but you can come to a conclusion with the seller once you have seen and like the land the location is close to afromedia ajangbadi lagos, adaloko bustop precisely that is just the asking prize for anyone who wants to buy and own it but as for running a vertical sack farming there, then its for free since i also will be getting involved in it farm investors should try give this a chance, maybe then with proper planning will move in to ogun state for a bigger project size farmers and inspectors are welcome |
With just the basic calculations of all this, what will be needed for this project will be one trip of loamy soil 20-30k big sack bags 200 naira each, 20 pieces thats 4000 naira bamboo sticks or plank woods normally called 2 by 2 (10 pieces) pepper/tomato seeds (2000 naira) manure (750 naira per bag) 3-4 bags insecticides (3,500) forliar spray/fertilizer (2000 naira) water is free since there is a well there the land is also free 2-3 aboki labourers will be used for the project, they can help to put sands mixed with manure into the sack bags farm security is assured this is to tell you on just half a plot of land can be used to grow as many tomatoes and peppers as possible. |

midnighter:R.I.P is rest in peace so basically he is deleted automatically means he is dead and offline in this forum and not in the real world is it bad to mourn a brother and a teacher? I dont think so, but as for him am sure he has taken a bow, to only come to this thread as a nobody and watch all our dicussions here like a ghost without saying anything but he has forgoten that a good course is what dying for, he should not have killed himself all because of proving a point he should have just stayed alive to see this pure evil come to an end then will you withness the true meaning of pure victory, rather than just commit suicide and die off like a chiken to me its all just R.I.P all the way because is just like the op is no longer here and the name pistotita will be gone forever but if another moniker that will be named pistotita2 pops up here in nairaland then am sure that will be a fake one and i wont be believing any thing he would be saying he is back again indeed this is truelly R.I.P, for he watches us from afar to see how we all are doing in this thread but it seems kunleweb and healthserve are alive and kicking well anyways you all are invited to the burial arangements of our dear op pistotita on the 19th of april 2020 when coming bring about your loved once and your farewell messages thank you |
OluchiDelly:oga do not make me do this I know the anger of pistotita that have left nairand made you to type all this, even me myself is really pained here lets just tell ourselves the truth Yes i asked about the marketing aspect because i have never taken okro to be sold in the market. I only planted a few that can contain my backyard that i will only eat and share some to my neighbours, even yesterday night i still ate okro soup, but am contemplating on growing it commercially, but i still have no space yet please dont tag me a scammer because this was what led to the e-war of pistotita and healthserve, now one is dead and the other one is alive and kicking well indeed now i know there is no gain in aguements and fighting for it brings no gain but death! lets put our hands together to promote good works and success i remembered i once prayed to the lord to help me locate and buy dwarf okro seeds from you, but now that prayer is what i never knew existed here in lagos, mind you i will never state down the place or the sellers location or phone numbers here, so you can have a peacefull and a loving custormer base still patronizing you now that you are out of stock it wont really hard me to drop his numbers here but i promise i wont do it for the sake of God in heaven for i am a man of peace and i hate spoiling people's business anyways i am not yet a pro in growing okro but still a learner peace be upon you brother i wish you well shallom to you too |
OluchiDelly:hmm, our dear pistotita death has caused us grieve a little because of this i wont eat okro soup today, just a gesture to respect this one time researcher we all knew him to be farewell pistotita! The man behind that moniker is a great man |
A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men (proverbs chap18 vers16) hello nairalanders, greetings to you all all i want to say is that i have now devised a new way of growing tomatoes and peppers vertically in sack bags pavore9 the man from kenya i want to thank you for all this for making me to believe there is truelly no limits in farming all i want to say is that everyday technologies and science keeps making us to say goodbye to hoes and cutlasses, the old farm ways are really going out for good to be replaced with modernized farming techniques there is really a gold mine in agriculture if only you can find a loophole and exploit it to your own advantage, back to the discussion, this vertical type of farming will make you to grow tons of vegetables in a limited area or space, no need going to ogun state or any rural areas again to go and buy lands for farming just a plot of land can be converted to an hectare of land, with just a little space someone can really grow what is normally been grown in an acre of land or even more to those of you simply surprised about all this, you can go all out and browse about vertical sack farming this method utilises the little amount of space, water and farm workers i can say to you with just a plot of land you can simply make a lot of money growing different vegetables, lets do business together and i will show you the things i have already learned so far. With an investment of 50k then you will be sure of a bumper harvest i have a free land that we can use and there is a water source there just only 10 vertical sacks will be enrolling you to sell on a commercial scale, tomatoes or pepper are the main target here, come to my world and i will show you hidden things that are hardly been found online. But promise me you will not use me and dump for many are only interested in knowing how it is done and after that they will discard you this investment will make you grow in doulble figures and in hundred folds please can someone help me answer what the bible said about someone reaping in an hundred fold, it is not 1000 naira to make you 100,000 naira it is not 1 million naira to make you 100 million naira but it is a little amount of just 100 naira that can make you an unlimited amount of billions of money, an hundred fold is what we all are praying and hoping for unfortunately we can truelly achieve this from just vertical sack farming many will call me just to ask me to explain a little all about it, but i will tell you this, the methods that you will employ are just the once you will see or have seen online, this are the types the kenyans do now, this are the types that are been pictured online, with proper planning you will surpass all that mine is different, for the kenyans has devised a way to grow things in a very big sack bags but i have now think out a way that can make you grow things that are worth growing in an hectare of land with just a limited space. This kind of farming is what we need around here, this are things we ought to be discussing here in this agricultural threads not virgin lands available in ogun state limited slots still available do call us on 090*** for your land inspections thanks. This is not good, because i can stay here in my house and grow what the full mile 12 markets wont be able to sell off in 2 weeks some say am joking or am kind of day dreaming, please i am not joking here in anyway, let me ask you a question hybrid tomato seeds against our local tomato seeds which one will you prefer to buy? To me i will prefer the local seeds because its way cheaper and will fill up my farmland in no time but with hybrid seeds my productions will be limited you can even spend upto 200k on hybrid seeds that will fill up an hectare of land to me afterall both of them will produce tomatoes that will be sold why then give me the headache that hybrid seeds is better all because of its disease resistance and fast maturing period. What if am to tell you there is a substance you get to buy and mix with water that can help boost the production of your tomato plants all through the season? Hmm i have said enough on this, all i need is someone that i can trust so i can share all this things with, with just a limited space we can kick this off to a start and wait for 3-4 months of harvesting tomatoes or pepper please remember i am based in lagos and i have a piece of land that we can use that has a good water source there, when the project is a succes then we can move to rent other areas for larger production please and please this is for those that are really serious and needs agricultural investments, banks can not gurantee you an investment profit of just 20% in a whole year but agriculture can guarantee you way much more than that in just only 6 months just like tomato jos in kaduna, i have now changed my name to tomato boss, do call me on 07041246325 lets do business |

healthserve:please be at peace with pistotita you are still like a brother to me and everyone here! |
Making Powerful Fungicides and Pesticides from Garlic, Ginger and Neem oil. We will be using fermentation methods to make this powerful organic insecticides. Materials Needed 1. Ginger 2. Garlic 3. Neem oil 4. Palm wine 5. water (unchlorinated water) Method Ginger and Garlic are one of the most amazing organic ingredients to produce fungicides, do blend equal amount of ginger and garlic separately, of course add water to make it blend well. After blending if you have one liter, add one liter of palm wine each to the ginger and garlic separately in two containers. Allow this to stay for 24 hours, then add 1kg of brown sugar each to the broth...allow this to stay for 7 days. Strain the two liquids and add one liter of alcohol each to the broth. The alcohol will halt all microbial activities and extract nutrients from the broths. Allow to stay for four days and your broth is ready for use. You can now mix the two broths together...I love the sweet smelling aroma of this mixture. Uses Insecticides: When combined with neem oil and hot pepper you have the most potent organic insecticide to battle any pests. Use 1 table spoon for every liter of water for application. Use as folia spray. Immune booster for Animals. This solution will help with improving the immune system of animals in organic farm significantly. Fungicides:The curly leaves of tomatoes and downy mildew will be totally eradicated using this mixture by combining it with neem oil, and palm kernel oil. One table spoon each of the garlic ginger mixture, neem oil and palm kernel oil in one liter of soapy water of Native Black Soap will keep you farm secure from fungi, virus and bacteria attack. Trust me, you will be reviving your plants from the dead in no time and smile all the way to the bank with your health intact...which one do you want, destroy your health using chemicals and smile to bank or have your health intact and also smile to the bank...the choice is yours. |

Then i will know what he is saying is really true to the core cheers |
But pistotita i even thought the land was a free gift for life? ![]() i mean once you show or give us the lands then it automatically becomes ours for life, Lol anyways healthserver or whatsoever you call yourself, you better shut up that your crazy mouth there! How many times will you still pickup this mad case of urs? One thing i hate the most in this life is coming to someones thread to course confusions and setbacks, now you will be the one to continue and to enlighten us on how to grow successfull cucumbers all year round, pistotita leaving will be a big blow for us here, even his haters wont like it, afterall am even bringing out time in getting to understand his ways of teaching, since you have nothing to add here you better close that ur trap! Please mods help us delete all healthserve comments in this thread and i will be glad you give him a sweet 2 weeks suspension from this forum ![]() cheers to pistotita the man i hope to be like! Healthserve it seems you have a big coconut head |
