PassingShot: No sentiments in politics as far as some issues are concerned. If it is not constitutionally required, no party is under any obligation to attend a debate. I have addressed this issue severally and I will take the pain to educate you too.
Politics is a game of high level strategic moves especially the type of politics we play in Nigeria. In the past years that PDP boycotted it, they knew that they were surely going to win those elections and as such they treated Nigerians with scorn by deliberately staying away from the debates even though they had given their support for it. OBJ did it in 1999 against Olu Falae and against GMB in 2003. In 2011, GEJ of PDP did same thing against GMB, Ribadu and Kwankwaso.
PDP in their calculations in those years, didn't want to slip in the debate and give any advantage to the opposition through such platform and they went ahead to claim victory in each of the elections that followed.
This time around, the table has turned (except anyone wants to deceive himself/herself) and it is the more reason PDP is begging and trying to force a debate in the hope that APC/GMB will score a major own goal. APC on the other hand have realized that they are clearly ahead in this election and coupled with the fact that they are dealing with a party which has boycotted similar debate in all previous occasions, it is therefore easy and excusable for them to give PDP a taste of their own medicine.
This is the game and the strategy brother.
Take care. no hard feelings. Though I learnt nothing new, I appreciate your effort. I am totally against the kind of dirty politics characteristic of the Nigerian system. It sucks and also draws us back multiple steps. It is a threat to any significant improvement we might seem to record at any point in time. Why shouldn't APC rectify the misdemeanors of the past by living the change they preach. 99.99% of Buhari supporters do not understand the change in Tinubu/Lai Mohammed's context. |

PassingShot: Maybe you're too young to know that GMB has participated in two presidential debates in the past and he did very well in both. In 2011, it was Jona Dunno who dodged the debate but instead preferred a debate with Dbanj. Lmao! So, for us in Buhari's camp, it's payback time for PDP and we're not sorry for that.
Btw, is Jonathan an illiterate? Your comments show exactly how much of a change Buhari and APC are pushing for. In essence, your Buhari camp is deliberately "paying back" Nigerians for GEJ's failure to engage in a live debate back in 2011. If your camp's argument is based on that, one then wonders the kind of change you guys keep disturbing Nigerians about. Alright, lets assume I am too young as you said, or I was oblivious of the happenings back in 2011. Do I not deserve to be treated to a debate among people I would be electing into office in this 2015? In 2019, another candidate X will dodge a debate and base his argument on what Buhari did in 2015; 4 years later another candidate Y will tow the line because candidates before him did same... and it goes on and on. Lets use our heads before karma strikes. |

Besides, how is it that well written motivational scripts cannot be prepared for Jonathan? Why is it that all his written speeches also lack substance? Clueless everywhere with Jonadunce. Cool story! Obiano wants 4 days devoted to kidnap cases
GOVERNOR Willie Obiano of Anambra State has urged judges in the state to devote four of five sitting days in a week to cases involving suspected kidnappers as a way of reducing the number of such pending cases.
The governor spoke while swearing in eight new high court judges approved for the state by the National Judicial Council, NJC.
The new judges were among the 16 whose names were forwarded to NJC for appointment. Only eight of them were successful.
According to him, devoting more time to treat kidnap cases will also help to de-congest the courts and reduce the incidence of kidnapping.
He assured the judiciary of his administration’s continued assistance to make the work of the judges and magistrates easier.
The new judges are Arinze Chidozie Akabua, Theophine Oguji, Michael Okonkwo, Irene Ndigwe, Raphael Onunkwo, Dennis Madue-chesi, David Onyefulu and Fidelis Aniukwu.
All the new judges had their official quarters and cars ready as they emerged from the swearing in ceremony. |

FreeGlobe: Bianca ojukwu is certainly not happy with former governor Peter obi
http://sunnewsonline.com/new/?p=109543 FreeGlobe: More from the source: March 17 will be one year since governor, Willie Obiano, started to pilot the affairs of Anambra State. How will you assess his administration so far?
Well, there is no doubt that Governor Obiano hit the ground running as soon as he took over the reins of government in Anambra State. He has kept the faith with the pledge he made at the inception of his administration that he would continue and consolidate the state’s developmental plans initiated by his predecessor, Mr. Peter Obi. He also retained the Anambra Integrated Development Strategy (ANIDS), an ambitious project, which involved the simultaneous development of all sectors of the state; the foundation of which was laid by Peter Obi. In fact, Governor Obiano never fails, at any available opportunity, to give credit to his predecessor for establishing a solid foundation for him to build on.
Mr. Peter Obi, recorded high marks in terms of delivery of democracy dividends during his tenure. So, from what you have seen so far on Obiano administration, do you see him surpassing what Obi achieved at the expiration of his own tenure in office?
I don’t believe that this should be reduced to a popularity contest or conjecture of who will outdo the other. This is a legacy issue. Peter Obi acquitted himself creditably and was instrumental in the reformation of Anambra State. Obiano has made it crystal clear that he is building on the foundations Obi laid under an APGA administration. I am happy that you yourself have stated that Peter Obi recorded high marks, in terms of his achievements as a governor of Anambra State. His accomplishments are numerous and he initiated a comprehensive and sustained development of the state in all sectors, most significantly, in the area of education, where his courageous move to return schools to their original owners being the missions yielded positive results, better management of the schools and better examination results for students of the state. His frugality is legendary and he was judicious in his management and use of funds, which made him popular with International Donor Agencies. His administration constructed over 800kilometre of new roads and opened up rural areas within the state. He achieved so much without resorting to borrowing and saddling the state with debt and though he is no longer with us and despite his poor judgment and deficient calculations, which informed his defection from APGA, we have refused to let him bury that legacy like a child in an unmarked grave. We expected no less from him. He is a product of our party ideology, and that is why we continue to highlight and celebrate his accomplishments. http://sunnewsonline.com/new/?p=109543 https://s27.postimg.org/o32cohkb7/index.jpg |

Zonacom: Let's not overflog this issue nwanne. We Ndi Anambra have got to stop labelling certain projects and facilities that make a city world class as white elephant projects. We don't have an airport but prefer using that of Enugu or Asaba and we don't see anything wrong in it. No stadium worthy of hosting an ordinary league match and you are not bothered. It's shameful brother and peter obi is to blame cos he was in position to do that but didn't. About maintenance, what's the big deal in maintaining a stadium? How do other states with sports stadia in Nigeria maintain theirs? Must a stadium host a major FIFA competition before you consider it being put to good use? Is a sports stadium used only for football matches? Let's stop belittling our state abeg There is nothing to overflog here. Since you could not answer my questions, try read this to understand why you cannot build what you have not planned for its sustainability. http://www.punchng.com/sports/monuments-of-waste-nigerias-white-elephant-stadiums/ Can you see the condition of the Abuja stadium at a point in time? It took a while for the aerodrome the burst during a sporting event to be addressed. I am yet to to use the term 'white elephant' because I know the value of a standard stadium. My emphasis is on scale of preference; in one word priority and also feasibility. Now let me address this; a stadium should be able to quite often realize funds for its upkeep from events that it hosts. What I mean here is that such events will be held as often as it will guarantee the funds for facility maintenance. Football is the most frequently played sports in Nigeria, it also has the largest followership... So which club would take care of the stadium. As I mention earlier, you keep talking of status with your "world class" this and that while I talk about the useability as at the period in question. |

cjrane: Bro Chino, All you have said is true.If the lies in Nigeria's census is corrected, Anambra truly has bigger population than Kano. But, that isn't my point. If resources were unlimited, we would say lets have anything we want. In the light of meager resources which has even got tighter with fall of oil price, we must choose wisely what is of utmost importance to our economic resurgence and not merely ego. Mind you, let me reiterate that;
I AM NOT AGAINST AN AIRPORT for Onitsha, but built in AGULERI.
Just that it makes no sense to build an airport in Aguleri with state funds, in the light of so many unmet pressing and basic developmental needs in the state. If you read Chino's reply well you will understand there are even many more reasons why the state should even go borrowing to finance an airport. It is simply business... you build it, you OWN it; you take home all proceeds from it! Chino even forgot to mention jobs jobs jobs (directly and indirectly) that it will create for the citizens. Do you know plenty more businesses it can help open and sustain... As I said, the state govt will not lose my support even if it decides to finance the project solely. I have been in that sector, and I can tell you it is good business as long as we are talking Anambra state. Forget about status, we are talking good business opportunities that is glaring for those who can see. |

emmysoftyou: i can understand that a lot of project is going on in anambra state right now including the airport project, but he should slow down his project if it will cause huge indebtedness to anambra state,i mean picked the important priority ones and economize some of anambra state project.
Bro,i know that project and development is a good thing to behold but it s disheartening if the state's federal allocation is small and the govnor went into borrowing to meet up with expectation and demoralised the economy and the people. . with huge debt of 23,000million dollar for the past 6mnth outlay, it means that in the future, our beloved governor, willie obiano, will find it difficult to pay the anambrarians civil servants just like what s happening in ekiti or osun state.. The man need more economical advice or he wìl end up like jonathan.. QED.. You mean his background and wealth of experience isn't convincing enough for you that he should know he is doing? You are yet to give an alternative suggestion as to how to realize funds for the ongoing transformation projects. $21million is just about 4billion naira which the state can afford when the going gets better with our IGR. If you don't dare, you don't do great things. |

Zonacom: All these things will be forgotten in future if there are no solid physical facility to ensure continuity. What obi did in sports was just to meet temporary ends. Building standard sports facility guarantees continuity. Standard facility guarantees no continuity. Continuity happens when there is a willing govt to carry on whatever programme a predecessor left. The mini stadia Obi constructed are being put to use almost on daily basis. Quick questions: Assume Anambra just completed a FIFA standard stadium, who in your opinion will be responsible for its upkeep/maintenance? What events in the last one year could it have hosted and how often will the stadium be used for events befitting its status? If leased to a sports team, which team do you think has the capacity to maintain the stadium. Udo! |
Politics › Re: Anambra light of the nation, eastern economy power house. by Myluv1: 7:28pm On Mar 07, 2015 |
Obi's regime resuscitated schools sports in the state and it has become a yearly event for all schools with rewards for winners in all categories. There has also been state sports festivals. There was the governor’s football tournament, the team that won the cup went home with N1.5 million, second placed got N1 million while the third and fourth teams went home with N500,000 and N250,000 respectively. Needless to say Obiano has continued in this line with the last one he hosted.
Anambra State won the 2012 edition of Abuja Unity Cup. The state govt sponsored them to represent Nigeria in Norway. Almost all the stadia in Anambra state have been given a facelift. Rojenny alone gulped N30million. 30 sports veterans including Mary Onyali Omagbemi and Mr. Emma Okala etc were recognized and rewarded. In the 5th National Schools Festival held in Port Harcourt, Anambra won 39 Gold, 48 Silver and 82 Bronze medals. Njika Iyiazu a gold medallist at the Paralympics event was also highly rewarded. The first female gold medallist at the 1973 National Sports Festival Mrs Loveth Onyeabo was remembered and honoured with cash award.
That's the kind of value that should be placed on sports for it to grow especially from the grassroot level and for people to appreciate it more which inturn boosts its growth. |
Politics › Re: Anambra light of the nation, eastern economy power house. by Myluv1: 6:05pm On Mar 07, 2015 |
Zonacom: Not having a standard sport stadium in the whole state is indeed a shameful thing. Obi spent 8 years and could have done that if he ever wanted to. If he had built a stadium, it remains there and serves the state for a very long time. The so called good outing Anambra had in sports during his tenure will amount to nothing if no effort is made to ensure continuity. That continuity is ensured when facilities like good sports stadium is in place. Lets learn to call a spade a spade. Should priority be placed on constructing a stadium with about 15billion naira to be used to host schools' inter-house sports competitions, or revitalizing the sports that was almost dead at that period by investing in grassroot sports development with provision of basic sporting amenities as was the case during Obi's tenure? Mini stadia were constructed to boost sports and the task to grow sports in the state is a continuous process. If a whopping 15 or so billions of our naira had been spent by Obi on a new standard stadium, how much would have been left to tackle other projects? Obi did his bits and wholeheartedly entrusted Obiano with the baton to continue the race he started. Mind you, sporting outings up to the recent Benue games which Anambra came second with 82 gold, 102 silver and 119 bronze medals can still be attributed to the previous govt's inputs in sports. |

Zonacom: Dis tin na big disgrace o. A whole Anambra state. Really, peter obi did bad in the area of sports. FlEven from the look of things on ground, no standard stadium is under construction. The fifa goal project ish have been on since time immemorial, we can't wait on that. The stadium under construction around kwata junction in Awka looks very small and substandard. Neros stadium at Nanka seem to be the only better option for now but it's still not upto standard. Obiano seriously needs to put this stadium issue in his to-do list. Chino, just accept it for once that Anambra has failed in this area. Abagworo keep shining your gworo teeth. hater! Brother, so not having a standard stadium is everything in Sports for you. Is sports even all about football? It's like saying Federal govt did bad in aviation by not having a carrier of our own. How much do you think Anambra state could have put into a new standard stadium at that time and who will manage the stadium afterwards? Abuja stadium should come to mind. You can agree with me that the state recorded good sporting outings during Obi's regime and uptill this moment. This alone is an attestation to his efforts in sports in general, not just football. |

A good number of Ndi Anambra in diaspora are already showing interest in starting up ventures in the state due to the ongoing transformation; and because the governor had stressed that the time for them to come home is NOW, that tomorrow might be late. He urged them come back home and invest on account of the conducive and enabling environment provided by the State government and promised to give them all necessary support and encouragement to establish including accelerating the process of land certification and documentation through Anambra State Investment Protection and Promotion Agency (ANSIPPA).
