Tolexander:
Before, the excuse was Goodluck Jonathan hated the state and was withholding large part the state allocation.
Now, another excuse.

When he was contesting for the gubernatorial election in 2011, all his manifestoes were centered on how Osun state will be self sufficient on her IGR, not relying on the allocation from the FG. As a commissioner in Bola Ahmed Tinubu's cabinet, Aregbesola cited Lagos state as a case study, where the State allocations for months were withheld by President Obasanjo, how he was able to help in generating more IGR for Lagos state.

What is now his excuse after coming out to tell us the monthly IGR of the state has increased from 300million to 1.6billion and still increasing?

he even quoted wanton theft of crude oil as if his state produces a teaspoon of oil sef.

Politics / Osun State Debunks High IGR Rumors by MyNewJackeT: 5:33pm On Oct 29, 2017
Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun Stateon Sunday said he was not happy payinghalf salaries to civil servants and political appointees in the state.

The information is in a statement by Mr Adelani Baderinwa, the state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Osogbo.

Baderinwa stated that the governor said this when Federal Government team on digital switch over visited him at the governor’s office.

He quoted Aregbesola as saying “economic downturn induced by brazen corruption, wanton theft of crude oil andmismanagement of the country’s resources by the last administration forced the state to what it was witnessing today.

’’According to the governor, no reasonable person or government will be happy not performing its required responsibility.

He added that “we are not happy paying modulated salary to our workers in the civil service and political appointees. Weare compelled by financial reality.

“Contrary to the lies around , it is not all our workers that receive half salary.

“Workers on levels 1-7, being the most vulnerable and the largest chunk of the workforce are being paid full salary.“

"Workers on levels 8-10 receive 75 per cent of their salary, while levels 12 upward collect 50 per cent of their salary.

“The workers have shown maturity, support and understanding. We acknowledge and appreciate the sacrifices and support of the workers.

”Aregbesola, however, said the financial burden on the government was incurred to provide infrastructure and develop the state.

http://guardian.ng/news/i-am-not-happy-paying-civil-servants-half-salaries/

but we all know he's not paying. this half salary story he is giving to the press is just a cover up.

make it no dey like say him no dey pay.

SW, you are literally the only region in Nigeria that had no hindrance in development yet all region, north included, is running alongside you proves you aren't developmental as you think.

You should be MILES ahead of everyone yet YOU ARE NOT. Speaks volumes.

Secondly, the fact your region had to be bailed twice like they pointed out baffles me.

A state that supposedly makes more IGR than a region didn't need to be saved several times before they can pay common salary. What happened to the high IGR?

don't forget the igbos started from scratch after the war and they took everything from them and were given 20 Nigerian pounds.

omohayek:

Sensible leaders would recognize that the key to solving this problem is moving Nigeria as rapidly as possible to becoming a cashless society, which would enable the broadening of the tax base, both by decreasing income-tax avoidance opportunities, and by enabling the collection of VAT on most consumption goods. In principle, there is no reason why even street hawkers selling gala couldn't use electronic terminals - the unit price of such kits has been continuously falling over the years, and is rapidly tending towards zero. One benefit of such a move for the street hawkers themselves is that it would become much harder for policemen to extort bribes from them, and to the extent that all transactions became cashless and traceable, the same benefit would be available to the rest of society: Nigerian policemen would either have to start living on their salaries, or organize and demand more realistic pay, rather than endlessly harassing ordinary citizens.

Unfortunately, the CBN has consistently made the wrong decisions on such issues over the years, frustrating the efforts of the mobile telecoms operators to extend electronic banking to the masses by emulating Kenya's M-Pesa: instead, the CBN barred them from entering the business and reserved the right to the domestic banks who don't want to have anything to do with the less affluent, as they don't consider the profits on such retail banking worthwhile, not when there are bumper profits to be made by the usual avenues of money laundering for embezzlers, or "round tripping" by well-connected speculators who can buy subsidized dollars.

The knock-on effect of this short-sightedness on the part of the CBN isn't just that the FG is unable to keep tabs on most economic activity, and is therefore forced to rely heavily on taxing only a small portion of the population, but it also makes it much harder for less well-off Nigerians to get access to credit at reasonable rates (instead of having to rely on moneylenders charging exorbitant amounts). No bank account means no credit history, which means no formal lending institution has any basis to trust you with their money, and even if you say you want to use your house or your land as collateral, the Land Use Act makes that much less useful than you might hope. All of this means the economy grows more slowly, which worsens the long-term funding difficulties of the Nigerian government in the new age of cheap oil and electric cars.

tell it to the Fulani herdsmen

I'm curious on something...are yourbas naturally ignorant or was it all the ritualism they do have started to affect the entire region.

I'm sorry to say this but you have to a complete buffoon not to realize comparing yourself to a region which had to start in the beginning while you didn't and showing The entire world that they are very very close to you in matters of 40 years while you that had no hinder makes you looking unproductive, not them. You mocking your own self dum dum. Don't you people have any shame at all?

SE you trying to mock started from Square 1 after the war with little to zero help while SW which had ZERO hinder is literally alongside a region which had to restart the run and you aren't even fucking ashamed of yourself?

Newsflash SW, you are literally the only region in Nigeria that had no hindrance in development yet all region, north included, is running alongside you proves you aren't developmental as you think. You should be MILES ahead of everyone yet YOU ARE NOT. Speaks volumes on the uselessness that is you.

Secondly, the fact your region had to be bailed twice like they pointed out while the state you are comparing yourself to didn't proves what you provide is nothing but media statistics and PROPAGANDA. A state that supposedly makes more IGR than a region didn't need to be saved several times before they can pay common salary. What happened to the high IGR?

We all remember this about Osun having higher GDP than all SE, all came from NBS stats in 2013
https://www.nairaland.com/1439842/osun-state-gdp-higher-than/5

And when oil money reduced, we all saw in our eyes how much of a PROPAGANDA that Osun stats was. Ironically, from NBS

In addition, isn't it funny that it wasn't until a Yoruba became leader of NBS that stats started favoring SW. Question is why is it that such occurred only when a Yoruba took over? We all recall the data circulated on NL where a non Yoruba was the NBS leader which listed SW as the most poverish region in South. A year later after a Yoruba took leadership that data changed in matter of one year. How that miracle occur in a year is still beyond me.

Lastly did I really see someone compare SW to USA. Are you fucking kidding me? That's a huge insult to USA for that. First of all, not one single USA state owes it's citizens salary. Secondly, not one USA state is begging for bailout. Third of all, not one single USA state IGR does not reflect what's on ground. Yes there are some poor in USA but not to the extent of SW. In addition, each USA state compensate their poor by providing necessary living things for free to the poor. The same can't be said for SW. Lastly, you rarely see beggars in streets in any USA, excluding big cities like Miami, LA, NY, Chicago, etc. Majority of the beggars in USA have some form of illness be it mentally and or physically handicap thus, having difficulty getting a job or they have a huge substance abuse problem thus, have difficulty keeping a job. In SW, the opposite is the case. You see niggaa, able bodies, begging all over the street. Hell I recall when ojukwu died, some literally provided images of you lots in your streets as well traveled to SE to beg during the burial of a man you claim to despise. Sorry to burst your bubble but your reality NEVER matches your paper stats just like Nigeria having 'the highest Gdp in Africa, blah blah" never matches that nation's reality.

Lastly, before anyone start shouting Oxford blah blah. In case you fools aren't aware, foreign companies and universities use the data provided by the government of the country the data is on. So yes, NBS data gives the info of foreign statistics. Like a big fat duh? I know this for a fucking FACT because my school had to a statistics for Costa Rica and we used what the government of that country sent us. I was part of the data collector for the stats of that study so I know this for a fucking FACT.

Finally, I'll say it again. You people aren't aware how dumb you look with each attempt to chest beat. I'll say it one last time for a region that had no hindrance competing with regions that did and those regions are literally neck to neck with you actually proves you as the least progressive. You should be ashamed of yourself, not jumping up and down as una doing.

BRUTALITY

Bros abeg write this as a new topic and remind them that it was 20 Nigerian pounds not British pounds.

hope to comment if you create a new topic
