According to the natives, the herdsmen whose mode of operation is to set the houses ablaze and open fire on the fleeing inhabitants, allegedly slit victims’ throats and cut off their vital parts.

The natives who would not want their names in print stated that the administrator of Omala LGA, Ibrahim Aboh, was lucky to have escaped from the attackers.

Also, the houses of former chairman, Adofu Stephen; and that of his parents were burnt.

Members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Tuesday, disrupted a gathering of the Eastern Consultative Assembly, ECA, where some Igbo leaders including the Chairman of Igbo Leaders of Thought, ILT, Prof Ben Nwabueze, and first President of Nigeria, Late Dr. Nnnamdi Azikiwe were to be honoured. Also, to have been honoured included the First Republic Minister, Chief Mbazulike Amechi and the late former Governor of old Imo State, Chief Sam Mbakwe, late Margret Ekpo and late Philip Effiog (all post humous) among others.

The event which attracted Dr. Azikiwe’s widow, Prof Uche Azikiwe, Chief Mbazuklike Amechi, a former member of the Zikist Movement; the former Director General of the National Orientation Agency, NOA, Prof Elochuwu Amucheazi, Prof Nwabueze, Anieken Akamkpan from the Niger Delta, a Calabari Leader, Mr Douglas Warmate, Chief (Mrs) Maria Okwo, Chief Kiamse Okoko, Prof Obasi Igwe, Emeka Onyeaso, Mr Charles Effiong and Dr Alex Mbakwe among others.

The organizer of the event and Founder of the Igbo Youth Movement, Evangelist Elliot Ugochukwu- Uko said that the aim of gathering was to discourse the restructuring of the country as well as honour disserving Igbo, living or dead. However, when Amechi began to talk about the need to restructure the country into six zones, the Biafran agitators began to interrupt him, saying that they did not want to hear anything about Nigeria. After several interventions by Evangelist Ugochukwu-Uko, Amechi was allowed to complete his speech, saying that Nigeria was an illegality, and that the country was being ruled by banditry, which attracted a loud applause from the crowd.

Professor Nwabueze spoke next after Amechi but his voice was muffled by the noise from the IPOB/MASSOB members. However, hell was let loose when Ugochukwu- Ukor announced that it was time to give a post-humous award to Dr. Azikiwe for his contributions towards national development. As soon as Zik’s name was mentioned, the Biafran agitators rose in condemnation of Zik’s efforts to keep the country united, just as they blamed the late nationalist for the current travails of the Igbo in the country. As the crowd became restive, Ugochukwu- Ukor threatened to deal with any trouble maker in the hall but his utterances angered the agitators the more and they descended on the people on the high table and in the commotion that ensued, they removed Prof Amucheazi’s red cap from his head and his eye glasses.

Some of the leaders ran helter-skelter as their cars were stoned leading to the shattering of the wind shields. Apparently, not satisfied with scattering the event, the mob chased journalists out of the venue before moving to the streets of Enugu metropolis, where they blocked roads, displaying the photographs of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu. They condemned restructuring, saying that they would not settle for anything other than Biafran Republic. However, as they were matching, the police confronted them in front of the Presidential Hotel, by firing tears gas canisters on them.

Ugochukwu-Uko said that trouble erupted at the hall, following his refusal to give the pro-Biafrans the platform to talk about dismemberment of the country. “For more than 20myears, I have been advancing the cause of restructuring and people were saying I was mad. Today, they are calling me a prophet,” he added. Confirming the story, the Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ebere Amaraizu said he had not been briefed by the Operations Department on the number of the IPOB/MASSOB agitators that were arrested.

About 20 Biafran agitators, suspected to be members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, were on Tuesday arrested by the Police in Enugu.

The development followed protests by the IPOB members at an event organised by a pan-Igbo group to honour some Igbo personalities, including first President of Nigeria, late Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe.
The event had proceeded smoothly until one of the Igbo leaders spoke of the need to restructure Nigeria along regional lines.

The development apparently angered the agitators, who interrupted the speaker, insisting that “It is Biafra or nothing else.”

Attempts by the organisers of the event to reason with the secessionists were not successful.

The activists became violent when it was announced that Azikiwe was to be given a posthumous award for his efforts towards sustaining the unity of the country.

The announcement angered the pro-Biafran agitators, who voiced their condemnation of Azikiwe’s ‘nationalistic politics.’

In loud voices, they blamed Azikiwe for the current travails of the Igbos in Nigeria, even as they insisted on secession.

Efforts by the organisers of the event to subdue the irate youths was met with violence, as the agitators stormed the high table, and attacked some of the dignitaries.
The Igbo leaders ran away from the venue of the event as the agitators threw stones and other objects at the vehicles that conveyed the dignitaries.

Several cars were damaged.

Confirming the arrest, spokesman of Enugu State Police Command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, said “no fewer than 11 were apprehended by the Police.”

Amaraizu said the suspects would be arraigned in court.

Again, herdsmen attack Ogun communities, sack 30 schools ON FEBRUARY 5, 20186:30 AMIN NEWS, TRENDINGCOMMENTS By Daud Olatunji

ABEOKUTA—SUSPECTED Fulani herdsmen have again attacked some communities in Ketu Local Council Development Area in Ogun State three days after a stakeholders’ meeting was held with the state Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu. Vanguard gathered that the Police boss held a security meeting with the leaders of farmers and herdsmen in the troubled area two weeks ago over the incessant killings of Ketu people allegedly by herdsmen. Narrating the incident, in a statement, the Coordinator-General and Director of Public Affairs of Ketu Advancement Forum, Kunle Abiose and Williams Olayode respectively said the herders invaded “our farms, hewing down palm trees for their herds to graze on.” The statement reads: “Surprisingly when the local people went to inspect the damage done to their farms, the herders again opened fire on them with the locals sustaining gunshot wounds of varying degrees. “This incident was well documented at the Police Area Command Office, Ilaro. “Presently, the atmosphere is charged as areas like Ikotun, Ologiri, Akeru, Ilukan, Ijege and Ajibode have continued to come under the influx of herds. The state Governor can no longer continue to turn blind eyes and deaf ears to the tensed situation. “Our farmers have been sent away from their farms, over 30 primary schools have been shut down, health facilities closed and economic activities paralysed.” “The climax of it started on 10th December 2017 when innocent aged women were attacked and macheted in-between Moro and Eegelu villages for their refusal to submit themselves to be raped by heartless herdsmen”, the statement added. While urging the state government to come to their aid, they said “we want Mr. Governor to rise up and perform the primary objective of a responsible government first; which is giving us security. We hope that the State Government will see our statement as a sincere wake-up call, and act in line with her constitutional duties to guarantee our security and well-being.”

I thought they claim IPOB is dead and buried? How come they are wasting millions of dollars just to engage IPOB in a media war. This money would have gone a long way in mitigating the suffering in Alariwo, tonybarcanista, sarrki, toro goro's communities.

My people, what do you think about this latest plot by the Fg?
