Nigerian actress, Lala Akindoju, seems to have had enough of the praises going BBNaija star, Mike's way, over the good manner he conducted himself on the reality show, particularly on how he respected his marriage vows and did not misbehave with any of the ladies in the house.

During the course of the show, viewers had noticed how gentlemanly one of the housemates, Mike, was and they often praised him on social media. After the show ended and Mike emerged as the first runner up, more people sang his praises as they used him as an example of what a good man should be like.


She wrote: "The way Mike is being hyped for how he carried himself in the house shows how damaged we are. When a man is in a committed relationship, especially marriage, he should respect his vows and his wife. We shouldn’t celebrate people for behaving normally. We are used to bad behavior."

It was a night of great joy on October 6, 2019, when BBNaija 2019 finalist, Mercy Eke, was announced as the winner of the Pepper Dem edition of the reality show. A number of die-hard fans took to social media to celebrate the win as they gave reasons for choosing Mercy as their fave.
One of Mercy's biggest fans, who happens to be a well-known club owner, Cubana Chief Priest, could not contain his joy after Mercy was announced winner of the show as he was seen seriously jubilating.

In an Instagram post, Cubana penned a note of gratitude. He explained that he tried his possible best to ensure his Owerri sister emerged as the winner of the reality show. He added that he has not been known to support failure.

Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has described the speech by President Muhammadu Buhari as a flop and the 2020 budget as shallow.

President Buhari on Tuesday presented the 2020 budget to a joint session of the National Assembly.

Fani-Kayode, a popular critic of the Buhari-led administration, said the budget “itself is shallow, inexplicable, confusing and uninspiring.”

The management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has suspended one Dr Samuel Oladipo for his alleged involvement in the sexual harassment scandal in the school which was exposed in a documentary recently released by BBC Africa.

Oladipo who was suspended on Tuesday, October 8, is the second lecturer in the university to be suspended as a result of the scandal, Daily Sun reports. Thickmatch.com gathers that, before his suspension, Oladipo lectured in the Department of Economics.

He was featured in the video which was secretly filmed to expose randy lecturers in the university who have been harassing female students sexually.

Recall that the university had on Monday, October 7, suspended Dr Boniface Igbeneghu of the Faculty of Arts, who was also caught in the act. Confirming Oladipo's suspension, Ouwatoyin Ogundipe, UNILAG's vice chancellor, said the randy lecturer would face a panel.

French League giants Lyon are reportedly close to naming Arsenal legend Arsene Wenger as their new manager after the exit of Brazilian boss Sylvinho.
The club are currently 14th on the Ligue 1 table with nine points after nine matches - just one point above Dijon and Metz, who are 19th and 20th after the same number of games.
Despite their bright start in the Champions League winning one and drawing the second, Lyon are struggling in the domestic league, wjust two of their first nine matches before the FIFA international break, and the club officials had to sack the 45-year-old in a bid to get their campaign back on track.
Lyon are 12 points behind table toppers Paris Saint Germain, but will hope they can cut the lead as soon as they solve their managerial issues.
The Parc Olympique Lyonnais outfit are now hoping they can secure the services of the three time Premier League winning coach as reported by SunSport quoting Le Parisien.

A Forbes-rated young Nigerian billionaire and CEO of Invictus Group, Obinwanne Okeke has been arrested by America's Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) over a $12 million (N4.3bn) fraud.

It is not clear how he made the list of Forbes’ 100 Most Influential Young Africans 2018, it should however be noted that he founded the Invictus Group of Companies, an investment conglomerate dealing in construction, agriculture, oil and gas, renewable energy, telecoms, and real estate.  Invictus Group operates in three African countries, Nigeria, South Africa, and Zambia. His company was named as Africa’s Most Innovative Investment Company of the Year by African Brand Congress in 2017. 

He was arrested last week on the last day of his trip to the United States for allegedly defrauding top American companies of huge sums. Notably, he allegedly scammed $12m from a steel company by hacking into an executive’s office365 account and sending an email with a fake invoice to the purchase department. His arrest came after Special Agent Marshall Ward of the FBI and the team he heads opened up an investigation in July 2018, following a petition by Unatrac Holding Limited. 

The charge sheet reads in part “In June 2018, Unatrac Holding Limited, the export sales office for Caterpillar heavy industrial and farm equipment, headquartered in the United Kingdom, contacted the FBI. They reported that Unatrac had been victimised through an email compromise, which ultimately resulted in fraudulent wire transfers totalling nearly 11million US Dollars. After reviewing the documentation provided by the representatives, the FBI opened an investigation in July 2018.

"The FBI discovered that after capturing the legitimate credentials of Unatrac’s Chief Financial Officer, the accused was able to log in and access the CFO’s entire Office365 account, which included all of his emails and various digital files, the logs indicated that between April 6 and April 20, 2018, the intruder accessed the CFO’s account 464 times, mostly from Internet Protocol (IP) addresses from Nigeria.

“With full access to the account, the intruder sent fraudulent wire transfer requests from the CFO’s email account to members of Unatrac’s internal financial team. The intruder also attached fake invoices to the emails to enhance the credibility of the requests,” the investigator stated. The investigation, painstaking and far-reaching, lasted more than a year during which Obinwanne emerged as the principal culprit and has since been arrested while on his regular visit to the United States."

Before his arrest, Obinwanne Okeke was a celebrated businessman who had a 'grass to grace' story on Forbes. The arrested suspect is said to be the 17th child of a polygamous father who died when he was 16, and he reportedly moved from one relative to another before moving Australia where he “did all kinds of jobs just to survive.”  He became a viral sensation after he got featured in 'Forbes Africa’s 30 Under 30' list in 2016. 

The young Nigerian who accepted an offer to be a Contributor for Forbes Magazine and published his first essay in May 2017, has however been arrested by the FBI for allegedly being a fraudster which is popularly known as 'yahoo-yahoo' in Nigeria.

Dolapo Badmus, the Zone 2 Police Public Relations Officer has shared an update on the case of the lady filmed flogging a boy and locking him in a dog cage in a viral video.

According to Badmus, 'as promised by the police, the suspect accused of assaulting and tossing a young orphan into a dog cage has been charged to court on Friday. The magistrate refused her bail application and she was consequently remanded in prison!

She went on to say. 'honestly this is the positivity that community policing can achieve. Thanks to all volunteers that gave vital information on this case and Kudos to the Domestic and Sexual violence response team of Lagos state police command for a job well done. The Youth Council of Ohaneze Ndigbo, has reacted to the call by Kaduna Governor, Nasir El-Rufai for the abolition of zoning ahead of 2023 Presidency.

El-Rufai had recently expressed he favours competence over zoning, making a case for the abandonment of rotational presidency.

But reacting on Friday, via a statement by its President-General, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the Ohanaeze Youth Council, said the governor was blinded by his ambition to become president.

Messi is the leaked winner for UEFA Men's POTY Award as Van Dijk finishes 2nd, Ronaldo sits 3rd.
According to a document obtained by Iscoholic on Twitter, Messi is set to be named as the winner of the award. The Barcelona star got 252 points (votes) as per the document – 28 more than 2nd-placed Van Dijk.

Ronaldo has come in 3rd with 181 points. Alisson Becker finished 4th with 57 points while his teammates Sadio Mane and Mo Salah came 5th and 6th with 51 and 49 points respectively.

Real Madrid’s new signing, Eden Hazard finished 7th with 38 points while former Ajax stars, Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong finished joint 8th with 27 points.

A 21-year-old South African lady whose nude photos were leaked by her ex-boyfriend on Wednesday August 14, has shut down the torrent of backlash that trailed the leak.

While female residents of the small town of Dewetsdorp in Free State felt it was embarassing, Daily Sun reported that most men said they loved brave women like her. Speaking on the leak, the lady identfied as Mamokete Matsepe stated that the leak never broke her as she is not ashamed of her beautiful body.

Mamokete revealed that the photos were taken by a professional photographer three months ago, and she only sent it to her boyfriend after she had a change of mind on sharing it on social media. She also affirmed she won't be opening a criminal case against him.

“I love women who take nude photos, so I wanted to show that I also embrace my body and want women not to be ashamed of their bodies" she said.

Two of the policemen injured by members of Islamic sect Shiites have been referred to the National Hospital for immediate medical attention from the National Assembly Clinic.

One of them, soaked in blood, was badly beaten by the rampaging Shi’ite members.

He was gasping by the time the vehicle that took him to the National Hospital arrived.

Another policeman, who had bullet lodged in his thigh, was waiting to be taken to the National Hospital.

“It was not a local gun, it was AK47,” he told his concerned colleagues.

Meanwhile some of the violent protesters have been arrested by security operatives.

At about 2.56pm, a young man in his 20s, alighted from a Sergeant- at- Arms pick up and was led to the Department of State Services (DSS) office for interrogation.

Making rounds on social media, on Twitter to be specific is a tweet by Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani Kayode reacting to a statement by Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir Ahmad El-rufai.

In a news report by Daily Post on the 7th of July 2019, Governor El-rufai was cited speaking at the Northern Youth summit organised by Northern Hibiscus Initiative in Kaduna;
“We have the largest number of poor people in the world, most of them in northern Nigeria. Nigeria also has the largest number of out-of-school children, virtually all of them in Northern Nigeria.

“Northern Nigeria has become the centre of drug abuse, gender violence, banditry, kidnapping and terrorism. We have also been associated with a high divorce rate and breakdown of families. These are the challenges that confront us. This is the naked truth that we have to tell ourselves.

Worried by the incessant cases of child rape across the country, Nigeria’s Senate on Tuesday moved to frame laws that would make perpetrators face capital punishment.

Moving the motion on Order 42 and 52 of Senate rules, Senator Rose Oko representing Cross River North Senatorial district explained that victims of child rape have been on the increase, a situation she said was worrisome, urging the upper chamber to intervene.

“Mr. President, distinguished colleagues, I rise on order 42 and 52 of Senate rules to explain a very disturbing issue of child rape. Mr. President, I want to say that this matter is alarming and we need to deal with it. ”

Reacting, Senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial district, Oluremi Tinubu on Tuesday said those indulging in child abuse deserve death penalty.

Tinubu wondered what perpetrators stand to benefit from such heinous acts, adding that, “raping a child is synonymous to killing that child.

“Imagine a child who doesn’t know anything and was raped. If you ask the child victim to stand in law Court, what would she tell the judge? ”

Corroborating, Senator Sabi Abdulahi representing Niger North argued that the Senate must intervene by putting stiffer penalties for perpetrators.

Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege stated that there were enough rape laws, stating that the challenges were those of enforcement and implementation.

According to him, Court judges perhaps have too much discretion, saying that Senate should review these laws is geared towards tying their hands in a manner that they would be forced to pass judgement without deciding otherwise.

“Judges have too much discretion. Even governors too have prerogative of mercy where they visit prison yards and set inmates free. ”

In his contribution, Senator Chukwuka Utazi representing Enugu North Senatorial district called for psychiatric test on perpetrators of child abuse.

The lawmaker added that the school curriculum should also capture sex education from elementary level to higher institutions.

Adopting the motion, Senate President, Dr Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan upheld the prayers and also upholding the review of all relevant laws that would ensure capital punishment for offenders of child abuse.

Part of the payers sustained too was the training of the police and other security agents handling rape cases, while they also urged the public to serve as watchdogs against rape.

A Muslim community leader in Abia state and legal expert, Alhaji Suleiman Ukandu, has faulted the action of the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, over his declaration of Hon. Tony Elumelu, as the Minority leader of the present 9th Assembly.

Elumelu, represents Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency of Delta State and also, doubled as a chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party,(PDP).

Femi Gbajabiamila, had, at last Wednesday’s plenary, announced names of minority leadership chosen by members, while disregarding the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s letter endorsing some members for the positions.

The PDP had chosen Reps Kingsley Chinda as Minority Leader, Chukwuka Onyema (PDP-Anambra), Deputy Minority Leader; Yakubu Bade (PDP-Kaduna), Minority Whip and Muraina Ajibola (PDP-Oyo); Deputy Minority Whip.

However, Gbajabiamila announced Elumelu as Minority Leader; Reps Toby Okechukwu (PDP-Enugu), Deputy Minority Leader; Gideon Gwami, Minority Whip and Adesegun Adekoya as Deputy Minority Whip.

Speaking, Rep Leke Abejide (ADC-Kogi) said he personally signed in support of Elumelu and others as his leaders.

He stressed that the PDP cannot impose candidates on them.

Speaking in an interview with journalists in Umuahia, the Abia state capital, Ukandu, claimed that Gbajabiamila and Elumelu, were contracted by the All Progressives Congress-led federal government to set crisis in the opposition party (PDP).

According to the PDP stalwart, “That is pure hypocrisy on the side of the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila. The speaker himself inherited that particular aspect of party supremacy. His party, the APC, said Gbajabiamila should be their candidate for the speakership of the ninth Federal House of Representatives. And all his party members adhered to that. Why should the speaker again, try to truncate the supremacy of another party?

“I think Gbajabiamila is trying to set crisis in the PDP. He want to disorganize members of the PDP, who are in the federal House of Representatives in order to deny them a voice, in order to make sure that it did not in anyway witness resistance from the already-planned policies, which he(speaker) and his draconian APC, have on desk. I think he supposedly did that.

” And i believe that if Honorable Ndudi Elumelu, is a true party man, he wouldn’t have accepted such unnecessary carrots that dangled to him. He should understand, there is already a preplanned agenda by the APC, as regards the Federal House of Representatives. They had a plan to destabilize the PDP. They have a plan to control the house to their whims and caprices”.

The lawmaker representing Ovia Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Dennis Idahosa, has begged Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and Governor Godwin Obaseki to resolve their differences for peace to return to the All Progressives Congress in Edo State.

Idahosa said the crisis has created a huge gulf among​ APC faithfuls in the state and constitute a threat to the development of the state.

Idahosa, who spoke in a chat with newsmen in Benin City, noting it was only in an atmosphere of peace that the progress and development of the state could be achieved.

He appealed to all lovers of Edo and its development to ensure that the crisis is put to an end and urged those feasting from the crisis to see that the people are at the receiving end of it

His words:  “Step taken by the Edo traditional rulers, led by the Oba of Benin is what we should all be emulating; to work to see to the end of it rather than fueling it or taking sides.

“I am quite aware that there must be disagreement for a better understanding to take place but not to degenerate to name calling on the pages of newspapers and social media platforms.

“Like one big family that we were, that we are still and will continue to be, we, irrespective of the position we have taken on this matter, that all the contending issues are settled amicably, most  especially if we are genuinely concerned about the development of the state.

“I daresay that Governor Godwin Obaseki needs a friendly environment to continue with his developmental strides in the state, just as our National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole needs one to continue to superintend over the affairs of our great party across the nation.”
