As things stand, United is now 15 points behind league leaders Chelsea.
Even if United wins all their games from here on out, Chelsea will need to lose 5 games for United to catch up to them.
That's how useless the club is. |

Angelfrost: Nah... They will get back to the top once the new coach sorts out that confused team of egotistical superstars!
The team is quite good tbh... The unnecessary signings killed the structure Ole had created (I won't mention names before fanboys eat me raw)!
Instead of getting proper defensive and midfield players, the idiots were throwing money down the pipe as usual.
If they could stay unbeaten against in form Villarreal and Chelsea, losing to Arsenal will be less than likely.
They should just keep Maguire far from that team! Maguire is there; they couldn't help themselves, once again choosing to prioritize playing English players over their results. I'll be honest. I don't see how Man Utd can win this match. This is the lineup Watford thrashed 4 - 1. |

Joebayo217: Nonsense formation I no even know y dis big head Maguire go start As in, Maguire has to be the most useless player on that pitch. Mctominay is a close 2nd. What more does Bailly have to do to secure a first-team spot? Rubbish united and their English player preference. They want to help Maguire's career at the expense of their results. |

Nezzjnr:
What more does Bailly have to do to keep a first-team place?! The guy is better than Maguire in all (and I mean ALL) aspects. Aside from that nonsense chip that Fred attempted against Chelsea, he's actually not been bad in the last 2 games. I assume Rangnick will use him. But Mctominay is useless; VDB is on bench again; and Carrick has opted to use the same watered-down 4-2-3-1 that Ole loved. |
Health › U.S. Reports First Case Of Omicron Variant by N2B2(op): 8:49pm On Dec 01, 2021 |
WASHINGTON, Dec 1 (Reuters) - The United States on Wednesday identified its first known case of Omicron, discovered in a fully vaccinated patient who traveled to South Africa, as scientists continue to study the risks the new COVID variant could pose.
Public health officials said the infected person, who had mild symptoms, returned to the United States from South Africa on Nov. 22 and tested positive seven days later.
That patient was fully vaccinated but did not have a booster shot, according to Dr. Anthony Fauci, the top U.S. infectious disease official, who briefed reporters at the White House.
The person is in self-quarantine and all of the patient's close contacts have tested negative so far, he said.
Key questions remain about the new variant, which has rattled markets amid signs it may spread quickly and evade some of the defenses provided by vaccines. It has been found in two dozen countries, including Spain, Canada, Britain, Austria and Portugal. read more
Fauci said it could take two weeks or more to gain insight into how easily the variant spreads from person to person, how severe is the disease it causes and whether it can bypass the protections provided by vaccines currently available.
"We don't have enough information right now," said Fauci, who serves as an adviser to President Joe Biden, adding that the variant's molecular profile "suggests that it might be more transmissible, and that it might elude some of the protection of vaccines, but we don't know that now... We have to be prepared that there's going to be a diminution in protection."
For days, U.S. health officials have said the new variant -first detected in southern Africa and announced on Nov. 25 - was likely already in the United States as dozens of other countries also detected its presence.
"This new variant is a cause for concern but not a cause for panic," Biden said on Wednesday before the Omicron case was announced. A spokesperson, Jen Psaki, said he the president had been briefed by his team on the first known case.
The United States has barred nearly all foreigners who have been in one of eight southern African countries. On Tuesday, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) directed airlines to disclose names and other information of passengers who have been to those countries. Like are you for real bro.
See, Alisson and Mendy are in no way better than De Gea on a norm. It's just that the defense (infact the team) in front of him is utterly trash.
De Gea can make 7 super saves in a game, end up loosing 3 nil. And the saves become irrelevant.
While Mendy will make one crucial save in a game, win 1-0. And end up as MOTM.
It's United who do not deserve David bro, not the other way round. Nothing but hard facts! |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: Is Cover Letter A Must For Job Application by N2B2: 2:26pm On Nov 27, 2021 |
babyfaceafrica: In Nigeria or where? Lolz In Nigeria, bro. Some people come here and complain they didn't score jobs with huge firms or outstanding start-ups when all they send is a bland resume and a bitter word soup of an application letter. They don't know they were up against skilled applicants whose cover letters are so detailed and attention-grabbing that the employers choose to see them before others. |

littlenzuki: Hello nairaland please is it a must that cover letter must be included when applying for a job. Though some job advert does not specify it Attaching a cover letter to your application isn't compulsory, just as it's not by force to eat your rice with meat. However, if you'd prefer to eat rice with meat (not plain rice), then you can get a sense of how employers feel about applications that contain only a resume/CV. Your cover letter is a one-on-one conversation you're having with the employer. If it's good, they will fall over themselves to meet you in person (interview). Let's go back to the rice and meat euphemism: Think of your CV as rice and— - A generic copy-and-paste cover letter = a small piece of meat. - An error-free, succinct cover letter with emphasis on how your skills can benefit the employer = a big piece of roasted turkey marinated with a finger-licking spicy sauce. Which one do you think the employer will want on the rice? You gerrit? If you don't gerrit, then forget about it! Goodluck! |
Health › Covid: New Heavily Mutated Variant B.1.1.529 In South Africa Raises Concern by N2B2(op): 7:32am On Nov 26, 2021 |
JOHANNESBURG — Scientists in South Africa on Thursday identified a concerning new variant of the coronavirus, whose mutations mark a “big jump in evolution” that is driving a spike in new cases. Hours later, Britain banned flights from six southern African nations, citing the variant.
In the past two days, scientists detected the B1.1.529 variant after observing an increase in infections in South Africa’s economic hub surrounding Johannesburg. So far, 22 positive cases have been identified in the country, according to South Africa’s National Institute for Communicable Diseases. One case has been detected in Hong Kong from someone who had traveled from South Africa. No cases have been detected yet in Britain.
Since the onset of the pandemic, a number of variants have emerged. One underlying concern about new variants is whether they will stymie progress against the pandemic or whether they will limit the effectiveness of vaccines. South African scientists will meet with the World Health Organization technical team on Friday, and authorities will assign a letter of the Greek alphabet to this variant.
By Thursday evening, Britain had banned flights from South Africa, Botwsana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia and Zimbabwe starting at noon local time on Friday. The six nations will be added to the country’s red list, which would require British travelers coming from those nations to quarantine on arrival.
“More data is needed but we’re taking precautions now,” Sajid Javid, the health secretary, said in a tweet.
In December of 2020, South Africa was the first nation to report the appearance of the Beta variant, which has now spread to nearly 70 countries. Scientists have been concerned that some clinical trials have shown that vaccines offer less protection against the Beta variant. Since then, the more virulent and aggressive Delta variant has spread all over the world and is believed to be fueling the latest surge in cases.
Britain had only just weeks ago announced that it would stop requiring any travelers to quarantine in government-designated hotels, removing the last seven countries from its “red list” for coronavirus risk. Instead, now, governments across Europe are moving quickly to shore up the progress made against the pandemic that is being threatened by the latest wave of new cases.
The variant has also been identified in Botswana. The country’s health ministry confirmed in a statement that four cases of the new variant were detected in people who were all fully vaccinated. All four were tested before their planned travel.
With over 1,200 new infections, South Africa’s daily infection rate is much lower than in Germany, where new cases are driving a wave. However, the density of mutations on this new variant raises fears that it could be highly contagious, leading scientists to sound the alarm early.
“This variant did surprise us, it has a big jump in evolution, many more mutations than we expected, especially after a very severe third wave of Delta,” said Tulio de Oliveira, director of the KwaZulu-Natal Research and Innovation Sequencing Platform.
The B1.1.529 variant has a “very unusual constellation of mutations,” with more than 30 mutations in the spike protein alone, Mr. de Oliveira said. On the ACE2 receptor — the protein that helps to create an entry point for the coronavirus to infect human cells — the new variant has 10 mutations. In comparison, the Beta variant has three, the Delta variant has two, said Mr. de Oliveira.
Scientists are still unclear how effective existing vaccines will be against the new variant, which displays mutations that might resist neutralization.
The variant shares similarities with the Lambda and Beta variants, which are associated with an innate evasion of immunity, said Richard Lessells, an infectious diseases specialist at the KwaZulu-Natal Research and Innovation Sequencing Platform.
“All these things are what give us some concern that this variant might have not just enhanced transmissibility, so spread more efficiently, but might also be able to get around parts of the immune system and the protection we have in our immune system,” Mr. Lessells said.
The new variant has largely been detected among young people, the cohort that also has the lowest vaccination rate in South Africa. Just over a quarter of those ages between 18 and 34 in South Africa are vaccinated, said Dr. Joe Phaahla, the country’s minister of health.
While cases of the new variant are mainly concentrated in the country’s economic hub, particularly in the capital, Pretoria, it is “only a matter of time” before the virus spreads across the country as schools close and families prepare to travel for the holiday season, Mr. Phaahla said.

Foreign Affairs › Jury Finds All 3 Men Guilty Of Murder In Ahmaud Arbery’s Death by N2B2(op): 8:04pm On Nov 24, 2021*. Modified: 9:38pm On Nov 24, 2021 |
BRUNSWICK, Ga. — The three men who chased and killed Ahmaud Arbery in coastal Georgia last year were convicted of murder Wednesday, in a case that once went 74 days without arrests and that many saw as a test of racial bias in the justice system.
The decision was read to the court shortly after 1:30 p.m. Members of Arbery’s family cried out with joy.
Travis McMichael, his father, Greg McMichael, and their neighbor William “Roddie” Bryan were all convicted of felony murder in the fatal shooting of Arbery, a 25-year-old Black man — meaning they committed felonies that caused his death. But Bryan and the elder McMichael were acquitted of malice murder, which involves intent to kill. Each defendant now faces a potential penalty of life in prison without parole.
All men still face federal hate crime charges.
Ruby Arbery, Ahmaud’s aunt, said she “felt something lift off her” as the judge read the verdicts.
“All the pain, all the hurt, it lifted because I knew we got justice,” said Arbery, 53. “We finally got justice for my nephew.”
A leaked video of the Feb. 23, 2020, shooting thrust the case into the national spotlight, just weeks before the murder of George Floyd by a White police officer in Minneapolis ignited mass protests against police brutality and racism. Arbery’s killing became a rallying point for the Black Lives Matter movement, as protesters said Arbery was racially profiled while jogging and accused authorities of brushing his death aside.
That national conversation hung over the trial that stretched more than five weeks as lawyers fought over the courtroom presence of Black civil rights leaders and a nearly all-White jury, with the exception of one Black man.
Lawyers for Arbery’s family said Wednesday that the jury’s verdict will reverberate around the country.
“This is a very consequential day, not just for Ahmaud Arbery but for families all over America,” said Ben Crump, a prominent civil rights lawyer who represents the family. “We have to show that America must be better than what we saw in that video.”
