Travel / Re: Why Can't Nigeria Be Like Ghana? by naana(f): 1:32pm On Jan 11, 2006
I have been reading this thread with interest.
luridguy:

yea dey might have light 24 hours water and all that don't forget the country is just a little bit bigger than lagos and u should see the gap between the poor and the rich its huge ..........nigeria is a difficult country to run but u can't compare ghana with nigeria its not just right
What does the size of the country have to do with anything.  In Nigeria each state has a governor and should be committed to developing the state. So size should not matter. In regards to the gap between the poor and rich...Pleeeeeeease it's the same situation in EVERY  west African country.
Several People have stated Ghana beats Nigeria in relation to just light and water.  Is water and light just!! To me water and light is very important.  One thing with us Africans is we don't give credit where it is due.  The truth is Ghanaian govt is not perfect but is trying very hard to change things for the better.
It is the corrupt govt that is killing Nigeria.  Come on let's be real.  The once giant of Africa has been let down by greedy politicians, flying girlfriends, here, there and everywhere.
We have to also blame ourselves, a lot of the time People leave the shores of Africa and don't return to contribute to the development of their country.
As a Ghanaian the thing that makes me proud is the fact that Ghana is a peaceful place, we live peacefully side by side, and openly accept everybody.  Unfortunately as Medube stated, the majority of crime is committed by foreigners.
All in all, Africa in general should be the RICHEST continent but due to all the corruption in all the countries and to much intervention from outsiders we are dying, both economically and physically.

IAH:

This is what we call Assistant Boyfriend.

I had to laugh when i read this, but it's true.

Please DO NOT hold on. This girl is obviously not being faithful to you. Look at what happens when you are near her, talk less of when u are not. Pls don't fool yourself. Move on. The thing is, you know the answer yourself as you described the relationship as a "relationship trap"
Start afresh.

Family / Re: Need Advice On Life as a Single Mother by naana(f): 1:30am On Dec 22, 2005
Hmm, your story has touched my heart.
It sounds the same as a friend of mine.  I would not advise you to tell your son his father has passed away.  If you do this he will resent you when he later discovers the truth.

I think as already advised you should seek your pastor's counsel.

If he has decided to get in touch with your son, it should not be done in secret.  The boy is not a dirty secret and it's up to him to sort it out with his family i.e tell them, as i presume his wife does not know. She will undoubtably be hurt but it's down to him for not being honest in the first place.

I believe he has to apologise to you and your family for the shame he put you through (denying his responsibility)  He has a lot to be accountable for, the breakdown of the relationship between you and your family, financial hardship etc.

Take heart and although, at times it may be hard, think of your son first and what u think he will want in the future.  I know u are hurt but let him know that you are no longer that small girl and you will not be manipulated.  Please don't let him call the shots, just do what's right for you and your son.

God bless U both.
