BoneBlogger: Some days ago, it was reported that one of the kidnappers who allegedly abducted two two entertainers, Ugo Stevenson and Izunna Obiakor, in Owerri, Imo State and demanded millions of naira, has been arrested by the police.. The kidnapper was arrested while attempting to collect a ransom of N300,000 after his gang initially received N1 million.
It was learnt that N1m was paid as ransom for their release of the entertainers after spending five nights in the kidnapper’ s den .
A 2007 Toyota Highlander Sports Utility Vehicle belonging to one of the entertainers was not recovered. The nabbed suspect and his fleeing gang members re-established contact with their victims demanding additional N300, 000 before his SUV could be released to them.
The operatives of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad , led by its Commander , Godfrey Victor, cashed in on that. The kidnap victims were asked to play along .
It was in the process of receiving another ransom of N300, 000, after collecting N1 m earlier, that this suspect , Sunday Okoli , aged 35 , who hails from Amokohia Ubi in the Owerri West Local Government Area of Imo State, was nabbed . Unfortunately, others escaped .”
During an interview with newsmen, Okoli said that he was given N100, 000 as his share from the ransom collected from the entertainers.
“ My name is Sunday Okoli ; I am from Amokohia Ubi in the Owerri West LGA. I recently came back from Lagos and this is the first time I joined them to this operation .
“ I got a share of N100,000 from N600,000 that was paid . I did not follow them to the hideout . The hideout is at Awara in Ohaji/ Egbema LGA though I have not been there before . That is where the jeep is ,” he said.

NIGERIANS have again been advised to desist from investing their money in investments that offer unreasonable levels of returns at little risk to investors.
This was stated by Ag. Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Ms Mary Uduk during a Town Hall meeting on Current Initiatives by the SEC Nigeria to enhance investor value held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Wednesday.
In a statement by the Commission, Uduk, while enjoining investors to be wary of any investment that is proposing return levels that are unreasonably high, added that they should always cross check that such fund managers and the products they are offering are registered with the SEC.
The Ag. DG told the audience that the specific objective of the meeting is to keep Nigerians abreast of the initiatives that SEC is currently undertaking in order to make the capital market more user friendly such that people can participate in it with greater ease, comfort and convenience.
“There is the added and all-important purpose of ensuring that the gains of your participation, be these dividends, proceeds from share sales/transfers, etc. accrue to you seamlessly, without sweat and in the shortest time possible.

Uduk stated that the e-Dividend regime bypasses these limitations by ensuring that dividends which do not exceed 12 years of issue are credited directly to an investors account after the declaration by the paying company and within a stipulated payment period through simple interbank transfer.
Recall that the e-Dividend registration exercise started on November 23, 2016. Each successful registration cost N150, however, between that time and March 31, 2018, the Commission underwrote the registration cost for all investors that mandated.
Other initiatives by the SEC according to Uduk include, Direct Cash Settlement, dematerialisation, National Investor Protection Fund, Recapitalisation of capital market operators, corporate governance scorecard, new rules for products innovation, development of commodity exchange, Collective Investment Schemes among others.

BoneBlogger: Some months ago, the Hausa Christians Foundation (HACFO) reported that a 16-year-old Hausa Christian girl, Zainab Bulus Bawa, was forcefully kidnapped, converted to Islam and married off by the Village Heads of Anchau, Kaduna, Alhaji Idris Yusuf, Alhaji Usman Idris Kugawa and the Islamic leaders of that area without the consent of her biological parents.
Now, it has been reported that the girl has been freed and has reunited with her parents after an online campaign was launched to that effect.

Zainab Bulus Bawa is a 16 year old Hausa Christian Girl from Kugawa of Kubau LGA, Kaduna State Nigeria, who was forcefully taken away from her parents, spellbound, converted to Islam, detained and married off by the Village Head of Anchau Alhaji Idris Yusuf, Alhaji Usman Idris Kugawa and the Islamic leaders of that area without the consent of her biological parents is now freed after four months of battle for her freedom.
Saleh Idi Magami is a young Hausa Muslim man that goes to the Hausa Christians settlement of Kugawa on an unknown mission although he works on their farm for a daily pay. Kugawa is a Hausa settlement of Both Christians and Muslims. Both of them have a history of living peacefully with each other, but the Muslim side decided to destroy this peaceful co-existence by the support of the district and village heads of Anchau who sponsored their Muslims brothers to commit evil against the Hausa Christians and then use the Muslims leaders to rally round and cover it with religion. They also used the LGA security team and the executives to support them, threaten and inflict pains on the Hausa Christian settlement of Kugawa.
On the 9th of March, 2018, the motive behind the coming of Saleh Idi Magami into the settlement of the Hausa Christians of Kugawa was uncovered when the parents of Zainab knew that he was actually luring their daughter into a relationship with him. And when he discovered the parents were about to find out what’s going on, he quickly kidnapped the girl out of the village by the help of his sponsors. Alh. Usman Idris Kugawa is the self-acclaimed richest man of the area, who believes he can use his wealth to achieve anything he wants. He called the parents of Zainab to inform them that he was actually the person that helped Saleh Idi Magami to take the girl away and that he did so because the Saleh in questions wanted to marry her. And when they took the girl out of her parent’s place, they took her to the Village Head of Anchau to keep the girl, which in real sense Kugawa is not even under his jurisdiction, but he did so because he and the Village Head of Anchau are allies. After Kidnapping Zainab, they indoctrinated and hypnotized her and then brought religion into the matter; “that now, she is a Muslim and as a Muslim, she cannot live with a Christian, and that they have given her Islamic parents according to Islamic injunctions who now have authority over her”.
The parents of Zainab have been running helter-skelter pleading with the Village Head to release their daughter but to no avail. Instead of listening to them, they are been rebuked and threatened on a daily basis. They did everything possible, but the Muslims would not return Zainab back to her parents.
On the 9th of May, 2018, the Parents of Zainab reported the matter to the Hausa Christians Foundation (HACFO) and after listening to them, the HACFO Team went to Kugawa to ascertain the matter, and on reaching Kugawa we ascertained the truth of what they reported to us. Without further hesitation we went to the Village Head of Anchau on the Matter, he together with his cabinet and the Muslims leaders all attested to the initial report that came to us by the Parents of Zainab without any contradiction.
In order to broker peace, and peaceful coexistence between the Christians and the Muslims of Kugawa and Anchau, we advocated on the need not to infringe on the right of anyone on any ground. We discussed at length for about 2hours and after then, we all reached a conclusion that justice will be done by returning Zainab back to her parents, and if Saleh Idi Magami really wants to marry her, he should go as a responsible man and follow the due process. They called the parents of Zainab back to go and receive their daughter the following day, but on reaching there the story totally changed to our greatest disappointment. The Village Head and the Alhaji Usman Idris Kugawa now said that they don’t have control any more in the matter, which actually they were the ones that sponsored this atrocity. The Parents of Zainab and the Team of the Hausa Christians Foundation were left stranded with nowhere to go. They left Zainab under the Custody of the Islamic leaders who eventually joined her in marriage with Saleh Idi her abductor. and they continued with their enchantment upon her
That was how they ignored every of our plea and went ahead to join Zainab and Saleh in marriage islamically without the approval of Zainab’s biological parents. When the Anchau Divisional Police Headquarters were about to intervene in the matter, they were called and warned from the office of the Village Head to remove their hands on the matter or face the consequence, that the matter is a religious matter. That was how the Divisional Police Office of Anchau also withdrew from the matter and left Zainab’s parents in pain and our team stranded.
After understanding the terrain of the situation and how everybody is supporting a crime that is punishable by law, we prayerfully and courageously went ahead to champion other ways we can get this Daughter of Zion freed and reunited back to her aggrieved family. After two months of intense battle both spiritually and physically, constant threats and our undying determination, the God, Yahweh that we serve showed up on our behalf and all knees bowed. He crowned our feeble efforts with success and wiped the tears of His Children and gave us Zainab back to His Praise and Glory Only, with the help of the National Human Right Commission Kaduna office and the Kaduna State Police Headquarters.
The condition at which we got Zainab back is not a totally hopeless one, but so much harm has been done on her. At the moment, she needs a complete attention and rehabilitation of her mind, body and spirit. She suffered so many abuses as a wife to her kidnapper. While she is undergoing a medical treatment, mental and spiritual rehabilitation, we covet the prayers and support of all our friends and partners from around the world.

Trending01: Leading financial institution in Nigeria, Fidelity Bank Plc has reacted a recent protest by some ex-staff of the bank.
In a statement signed by Mr. Charles Aigbe, Divisional Head, Brand & Communication of Fidelity Bank and made available to The Witness, the lender said that few disengaged drivers of their vendor companies were the masterminds of protests at some of its Lagos offices on Wednesday, and that the bank is not owing staff salaries as has been alleged by the protesters.
“Our attention has been drawn to the demonstrations at some of our business offices in Lagos.
“The actions, aimed at preventing innocent customers from carrying out their banking transactions, are the handiwork of a few disengaged drivers from one of our vendor companies. “
The statement further stressed that the drivers who were hitherto outsourced to the bank have been paid their severance packages and entitlements by their employers.
“For the avoidance of doubt, we state categorically that Fidelity Bank is not owing staff salaries, severance packages or gratuity payments as erroneously being portrayed.
“We are a responsible financial institution, operating in Nigeria and guided by the laws of the land. Whilst we are not against the right to constituted assembly, these actions are clearly unwarranted and obviously misdirected.”
Mr. Aigbe however noted that the bank is initiating legal measures to curtail the harassment.

FlirtyKaren: Two Nigerians in Vietnam have been sentenced to 16 and 12 years in prison duping Vietnamese women they befriended online of about $130,000.
In the judgment delivered on Monday, July 16, Ihugba Augustine Chinonso, 32, was sentenced to 16 years in prison while Onu Chinonso Peter, 33, got 12 years for "appropriating property through swindling."
The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Court has also sentenced six of their Vietnamese accomplices to between eight and 20 years in jail on the same charges and for "forging seals and documents of agencies or organizations."
In addition to the jail sentences, the defendants were required to return all the swindled money to their victims.
According to the indictment, the Nigerian men set up fake accounts on social networks, befriended Vietnamese women and promised to send them cash and expensive gifts.
Their Vietnamese accomplices then pretended to be employees from delivery companies, customs officers or police officers and demanded that the women transfer delivery fees, customs fees or fines to their bank accounts.
After each successful scam, the Vietnamese accomplices got to keep 15-25 percent of the money, while the rest was sent to Chinonso.
The gang was busted after one of their victims, Chau, reported her case to the police in February 2016.
Chau said she was befriended by a foreigner claiming to be British on Facebook in January. The man promised to send her $100,000 in cash and other expensive gifts a month later.
In early February, a woman claiming to be from a delivery company called Chau, asking her to pay a $1,200 delivery fee and a VND80 million ($3,500) customs fee for a gift from overseas, which she paid. The woman then claimed she had not received the money and had Chau send her another VND112 million.
When a man claiming to be an officer from Hanoi's economic police told her to pay a VND200 million fine as her package contained a large amount of cash, Chau became suspicious and approached the municipal police for help.
The police quickly identified and arrested the fake police officer and his wife.
Following further investigations, police uncovered the entire gang and concluded that in addition to Chau, they had also scammed another 10 women out of nearly VND3 billion ($130,000).
At the trial on Monday, most of the defendants admitted to their crimes. Chinonso, however, claimed his confession as obtained under torture. The court dismissed the claim.

A 17-year-old girl is defending a married teacher accused of having sex with her while she was a high school student.
The teenager told a judge in Michigan during his arraignment that her former teacher, Tyler David Millward, never forced himself on her.
The girl sat with the disgraced teacher’s attorney during his arraignment Monday and told a judge that an order barring contact between her and the 29-year-old teacher wasn’t necessary.
She told Magistrate Joe Brutsche:
“He has never been a threat and he has never hurt me. He never told me to say anything or push me to do anything against my will. I wish to have contact.”
Police arrested Millward late Friday at the girl’s apartment in East Leroy for allegedly having a sexual relationship with the teen from July 2017 through January, beginning when she was 16 years old.
Tyler David Millward, who lost his job as a science teacher at Athens High School in February, was scheduled to stand trial next month on a domestic violence charge after an altercation in April with his wife in Springfield.
He also used his phone to send texts to the girl and lied to police about the messages. He also lied to investigators about taking her to a hotel, prosecutors claim.
Police said in a statement:
“The charges are a result from the investigation that was opened in January 2018, which Millward was involved in a teacher/student relationship. There are several aspects of the investigation that are ongoing.”
Millward was arraigned on charges of using a computer to communicate with another to commit the crime of third-degree criminal sexual conduct and three counts of lying to police. If convicted on all counts, he faces up to 20 years in prison.

In his 'confession', he said he had killed 675 people who were 'mostly children' given to him by members of an occult group in the medical profession.
The man, believed to be in his 30s, went on to say that he was born with dark spirits and once had more than 650 demonic spirits at his disposal - some of which he named. .
He said he had needed to make the sacrifices in order to sustain his power - but has since left the 'Satanic kingdom', according to reports in the country.
He hit out at so-called 'fake' pastors in the country, accusing them of using dark spirits to deceive their followers.

Barack Obama spoke to an audience of 15,000 people in South Africa’s main city, Johannesburg, for the 16th Nelson Mandela annual lecture.
He was there as part of the celebrations marking 100 years since the birth of Nelson Mandela.
The former President of South Africa, whose government focused on dismantling the legacy of apartheid by tackling institutionalised racism, is honoured every year on July 18.
But during Obama’s lecture, he seemed to make a thinly veiled criticism at the current US administration’s use of “alternative facts”.
What did Barack Obama say in 16th Nelson Mandela annual lecture?
Obama said he could fine common ground with people who disagreed with the Paris accord on climate change if they had an argument based on fact.
Current President of the USA Donald Trump has previously said he wants to pull out of the accord, as he thinks climate change is not real.
Obama said during his keynote speech:
"You have to believe in facts. Without facts there is no basis for co-operation.
"If I say this is a podium and you say this is an elephant, it is going to be hard for us to co-operate.
"I can't find common ground if someone says climate change is not happening when almost all the world's scientists say it is. If you start saying it is an elaborate hoax, where do we start?"
Obama told the audience a moment later:
"It used to be if you caught politicians lying, they said: 'Oh man'. Now they just keep on lying."
He then went on to say striving towards equality can ensure a society can draw on the talents and energy of all its people.
The room erupted in cheers as he referred to France’s World Cup victory last week.
He said:
“Just look at the French football team. Not all of those folks looked like Gauls to me, but they are French - they are French."
Barack Obama added the world's elite were “out of touch” with the lives of the poor.
"In their business dealings, many titans of industry... are increasingly detached from any nation state" and they "live lives more and more isolated from ordinary people,” he said.
He made the case for liberal democracy, saying that he believed it offered the better future for humanity rather than populism and "strongman politics" - a political leader who rules by force.
He said:
"I believe in Nelson Mandela's vision" for the world's future, I believe that a world governed by such principals is possible. "It can achieve more peace and more cooperation in pursuit of a common good. "I believe we have no choice but to move forward... I believe it is based on hard evidence. The fact that the world's most prosperous and successful societies happen to be those which have most closely approximated the liberal progressive ideal that we talk about.
“Things may go backwards for a while, but - ultimately - right makes might. Not the other way around."
Nelson Mandela, who died in 2013 aged 95, led the fight against white minority rule in South Africa.
He was 27 years in prison before becoming the country's first democratically elected president in 1994. Both he and Obama were the first black presidents of their countries.

In 2017, the Lagos state government set up the Cleaner Lagos Initiative (CLI) as a comprehensive plan to privatize all aspects of waste management in the city.
Currently, Lagos state has the record of having the largest amount of domestic and industrial waste in the world. This is put at 13,000 tonnes per day. This is followed by New York’s 10,000 tonnes per day.
CLI has an ambitious goal to make Lagos the cleanest and greenest city in Africa by 2025. Currently, the former war-torn Kigali, capital city of Rwanda is ranked the cleanest city in Africa.
CLI recruited 27,000 community sanitation workers (CSW) or "road managers" across the state. The recruitment was publicized via various media channels.
ogunwale321: The remains of Hindatu Yahaya, a young girl who got married three days before the flood in Jibia town in Katsina, which eventually swept her away, have been recovered in Niger Republic. Husband of the deceased, Malam Sani Yahaya, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Jibia.
“The Corpse of my missing wife was retrieved at Girka village in Mada-Rumfa town of Niger Republic,” he said, with emotions flowing in his voice. Yahaya said that the flood occurred on Monday night at about 2:00am, cleared his house and took away his wife.
“We searched in the river and rubles of the collapse walls of my house and the houses of our neighbours but could not locate her. “As we are searching, we got a phone call from people that are helping us in Mada-Rumfa town of Niger Republic, that the corpse of a young woman has been retrieved from the river that pass through their town. “We rushed to the town and discovered that it was the remains of my wife that was fished out of the river. “We collected her dead body and brought her back to Jibia town, where we buried her in accordance with Islamic injunctions” he said. Yahaya said that for past three days, he had not been able to eat because of the trauma of missing his new wife that was with him for only three days.
A Consultant Gynaecologist and fertility expert, Dr Ibrahim Wada, on Wednesday advised career-minded couples to preserve their sperms and eggs to avoid losing out on parenthood.
According to him, fertility preservation can also be useful for couples who want to postpone having children for medical reasons such as treatment of cancer or ovarian cysts.
Wada, who is also the Founder, Nisa Premier Hospital in Abuja, spoke in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
He said as many women in society were increasingly becoming household heads and men engaging in high professions, fertility preservation would be a solution.
Wada defined fertility preservation, also known as `cryopreservation’ as the storage of gamete embryos such as sperms in males or eggs in females for future child-bearing.
He explained that the preservation technique could be achieved by cooling the temperature of the sperms and eggs as well as cells and tissues susceptible to damages caused by chemicals and radiation overtime.
The fertility expert said that sperms and eggs could be frozen prior to radiotherapy, chemotherapy and extensive surgeries.
“The mammalian embryo was first successfully cryopreserved in 1972 and the first reported pregnancy from frozen embryos was in 1983.
“At Nisa Premier Hospital, the first pregnancy from frozen embryos was in 2001.
“We encourage early marriage and early pregnancy, especially for women; also good social and health habit, prevention of infection, alcoholism and smoking can help prevent infertility.
“However, if time is a challenge, then, preservation should be considered,’’ he said.
Wada said that sperms were produced in the testes and millions of new sperms were continuously being produced daily, while in females the ovaries produce eggs at either sides of the womb.
He said that the uterus was the organ where conception occurs, union of an egg and sperm cells; hence, there were various factors responsible for the inability of couples to conceive and bear children.
“In men, it can be the sperm quality, infection, injury, aging or impotency, while in women ovulation problems can be caused by aging, egg quality, and blocked tubes, among others.
“As people grow older, there can be various impediments to one’s fertility such as smoking, alcoholism, drugs and high risk occupation which can also account for decline in sperm count,’’ Wada said.
