Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has reached a new milestone, equaling the record of the most goals scored in a single game in the Chinese Super League.

Ighalo was in fine form for his Chinese club Changchun Yatai as he notched four solid goals to wrecked Guizhou Hengfeng far from home on Saturday.

The 28-year old put his side ahead in the 24th minute after venturing up to convert a penalty before his second in the 38th minute as Chen Jingang's men went into the halftime break with a 3-1 lead.

Fan Wang scored for Guizhou Hengfeng in the 60th minute to lessen the lead but Ighalo went ahead to scored two more goals to give his side 3 vital points.

Ighalo completed his harvest of goals when he scored the fourth goal for his side in the 86th minute and still went ahead to score his fifth in the 90th minute which was the last goal of the game, and hand his side their greatest away win of the season.

A Nigerian man has been allegedly brutalised by army after his name was wrongly substituted in the ongoing army recruitment exercise in Jos.He was beaten and punished by army when he discovered that his name which was originally in the list of people that passed the the initial phases of the exercise was substituted.Below is what IG Wala wrote...

'Attention HQ Nigerian Army,
WHY THE BRUTALITY ON THIS PATRIOTIC CITIZEN SEEKING TO SERVE HIS COUNTRY?
Isreal Jonathan Ponmark with (77RRI/PI/464/0102037 serial number 158 Langtang North was part  of the on going Nigerian Army Recruitment exercise at the Physical Training Ground of Maxwell Khobe Cantonment in Rukuba Barracks, Jos. The exercise started on the 9th of April and scheduled to end today the 21st of April 2018. After the physical psychology test, names were called and said to have been fit to appear before the board for final phase of the exercise. After he got there, the Commander Medical 3rd Division Hospital who was the same person that called his name yesterday came with fresh list and this candidate didn’t hear his name including four others. They were asked to come outside and sit on their heads. They used logs of woods to cane them and chased out of barracks afterwards. The photos speak for the level inhumane treatment given to him and others.
AS OF THE TIME OF THE REPORT, ISREAL’S BACK WAS RAPIDLY BEING SWOLLEN & EXPERIENCING SERIOUS HEADACHE.

lmo1stson:
Okorocha Threatens To Sanction Erring Monarchs
There is palpable tension in the 27 Local Councils of Imo State over the state governor, Rochas Okorocha’s directive that every adult must pay a N3, 000 Autonomous Community Development levy.

According to a letter to monarchs of 644 autonomous communities, signed by the commissioner for Government Council, Louis O. Duru, the monarchs were directed to raise about N6 million from estimated 2,000 adults from each community for development purposes in the communities.

The letter reminded the monarchs that the governor had severally in the past, dating from 2016, directed them to compel their subjects to pay the said levy, compulsorily writing the details of the payment in the Adult Register in each community, to develop their communities. “Any recognized autonomous community that fails to pay the development levy will be merged with a sister autonomous community that has paid and the salaries/allowances of the traditional ruler of the erring community will be suspended,” it said. The directive stressed that sensitization meeting and monitoring would be embarked upon, to ensure compliance.

But in anger, respondents and callers on the various phone-in programmes on the radio yesterday objected to it, saying the directive dissatisfied them. They also opined that they couldn’t afford what they called “double taxation at the moment,” stressing that the hardship was much in the state to warrant such.

PoliticsRe: Harvard University Uses Nigeria As A Case Study Of A Failed African Country by nabegibeg: 3:10pm On Apr 21, 2018
Letenwam:
Nigeria has yet again been 'disgraced' internationally, following an assignment Harvard University gave to its students in which Nigeria was used as a case study of a failed African country.

The question Harvard University gave its students reads;

Africa is growing. Seven of the the ten fastest growing economies in the world are in Africa, and the continent's largest economies are becoming less dependent on extractive commodities. The continent's rising middle class has demonstrated a taste for consumer goods and technological innovation, and Africa's population-currently more than a billion people- is booming and overwhelmingly young at a time when populations in other regions are shrinking and aging.

Nigeria, sub-saharan Africa's largest economy, epitomizes both the promise and the problems the continent faces in the 21st century. The contry had failed to thrive for its first thirty years as an independent nation, despite having a developmental head start relative to countries like China and India, as well as hundreds of billions of dollars in oil revenue.. Now, after pathbreaking reforms followed by signs of retrenchment, Nigeria's new President faced both vast opportunity and grave challenges. Would the country flourish or founder in this new era? We will analyze key reforms in Nigeria's economy, significant political developments, and the choices facing the country's fast-growing private sector.

Why did Nigeria fail to thrive between 1960 and 1999, particularly relative to China and India?

How would you characterize former President Obasanjo's legacy?

Are you bullish or bearish on the next fifteen years for Nigeria? What would make you change your mind? What opportunities do you see? What are the challenges (and risks)

The Bayelsa State Volunteers Services led by its secretary, Jacob Kurobo in it's bid to rid the State of crime has paraded a suspected arm robber to the Nigeria Police in Yenagoa. Mr. Jacob Kurobo, popularly known as Don.J said the criminal was apprehended and handed to the police is in line with Governor Seriake Dickson's yearning for zero tolerance for crime and criminality in the State.

The Secretary averred that he has discovered that the issue of cultism and armed robbery was going viral in the state, therefore both are serious offence before the law, but ceased the opportunity to warn that Bayelsa state was not created for cultism and that the volunteers are prepared to flush out the menace in the state.”

He, however, noted that the Bayelsa Volunteers is irrevocably committed to work with the police and the various security agencies to rid the state of crime and criminality in order to promote peace.

The notorious robber was nabbed in Barrath road , Biogbolo, after raiding the neighborhood around 1am.

Suspected Fulani herdsmen Thursday attacked residents of Agasha town in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State - killing at least 10 villagers in the process. According to reports, the herdsmen invaded the town from the neighbouring Nasarawa State and opened fire on the unsuspecting residents.

10 people were reportedly killed while several others sustained injuries.

This is even as Naka town in Gwer West Local Government Area was razed down by angry soldiers who were protesting the killing of one of them by youths of the area.

In Naka, the capital of Gwer West Local Government Area of the state, men of the Nigerian army deployed to the area went on rampage, arresting and burning down several commercial and residential houses following the killing of a soldier by unknown men.

The soldier, Private Danlami Gambo, was said to be missing for some days from his duty post, but was later discovered dead and was buried in a shallow grave.

It was alleged that the soldier was mistaken for a herdsman among those terrorising the area and killing several persons last week.

FashionRe: 5 Ways To Spot Quality Ankara by nabegibeg: 5:58am On Apr 20, 2018
Revolva:
Ankara is one of the favourite clothing materials for millions of Nigerians and can be said to be one fashion trend that will never go out of style. It is known all over the world for its irresistible bubbly colours and vibrant designs. However, bad Ankara fabric can spoil your whole look, i give you the most effective ways to spot good Ankara material!

Cotton: These days you can see the beautiful Ankara prints on all kinds of fabrics. Ankara clothes made of silk, jersey, satin, denim, and other materials are not at all rare. However, while these alternative fabrics can look great, the only way to get genuine Ankara is to look for 100% cotton.

Resistance: Ankara fabric with a high quality paint job displays excellent resistance. Unlike low quality materials, good Ankara won’t be scratched or damaged from accidental abrasive movements. You can test it by lightly scratching the fabric with your nail or a coin to see whether there’s a mark.

Water
:While patterned Ankara seems like a very dense fabric, it’s actually pure cotton, which is why it needs to display the qualities of cotton – namely, being able to instantly absorb water and dry equally fast. Submerge your Ankara fabric into water to check its quality!

Plain weave: Ankara material is famously durable, and the main reason for its durability is the plain weave. Plain weave is believed to be one of the toughest fabric types in the world. If you want your new Ankara outfit to last you for years, look for a plain weave as a sign of quality.

Strength: Thanks to the use of plain weave and the nature of cotton thread. Ankara fabric is famously very strong. It’s widely used not only in sewing clothes, but also in creating accessories like handbags and shoes – thanks to its ability to withstand extensive wear without tearing.

Soft touch: Despite all of its strength and resilience, Ankara material is one of the softest ones to touch. Perhaps, the easiest way to tell if you’re looking at high quality Ankara fabric is to simply touch it. You can do this test in just a few seconds! Give the Ankara fabric you plan to buy a pat. If the material is smooth and soft, can be easily crumpled and quickly restores its shape, it means that the Ankara you’re holding in your hands is top quality material and will be great to work with and wear!

The scandal rocking PZ Cussons Nigeria Ltd over their ongoing CussonsBaby Moment competition just gets more interesting.

Recall that Nigerian parents nationwide had cried out on social media over how the company exploited them by making them promote the brand through canvassing for votes for their babies via social media and accused the company of having their winners already through inside connections.

Well, it happens that indeed inside connections is a major factor in the Cussons baby contest and it is far from being free and fair just as parents have accused.

Newseveryhour can now authoritatively tell you, amidst other bundles of evidences we have gathered and which will be released shortly, that one of the babies getting an unreserved favour in the contest is Baby Yassir, who happens to be son of Adewunmi Fatai, the make-up artiste to actress Mercy Aigbe.(Pictured)
.
Mercy Aigbe is one of the three judges of the contest. Mercy, alongside Designer, Mai Atafo and photographer, Yetunde Babaeko are the judges making decisions in the contest.

As more mothers and other concerned parents continue to throng Cussons social media page to call out the organizers and over this unprofessional conduct of favoritism and exploitation, some are now getting blocked from accessing the pages and their comments deleted.

In all reputable and credible contest globally, judges and staff of the companies organising a contest are not allowed to have any previous relationship with contestants.

Below is a snapshot of an example of such rules from a similar contest organised by Pears Baby Product, but unfortunaly from the beginning of the Cussons contest the company had assured parents that it was free and fair even as they have refused to be transparently with their policies and will change it arbitrarily every now and then to suit their ulterior motives

The group also described as worrisome, the act of the Senator and said if such act is let go unpunished, it could become a very bad model for the coming generation and also set a bad precedence at the Senate which is known to be a gathering of matured, refined and distinguish Nigerians.

"It is on this note that we call on the leadership of the Nigerian Senate to begin the process for Senator Omo-Agege's expulsion and prosecution by the appropriate law enforcement agency," Enitekiru said.

The group also added that "as stakeholders with strong concern for the protection of the interest of Urhobo people, Delta Central Senatorial district, Delta State and the nation at large, we would not fold our arms and watch our elected representative undermine and denigrate democratic institutions, paint the people of Delta state in bad light, all in pursuance of personal interest and self aggrandizement voyage. Popular Fuji musician, Pasuma has called on the organisers of Big Brother Naija to be more strict in addressing issues that bother on verbal abuse in the house.

Pasuma said this in reaction to Cee-C’s verbal confrontation of fellow housemate, Tobi yesterday.

Cee-c on Wednesday verbally attacked Tobi for over an hour which led to Biggie issuing her a warning strike.

She had accused Tobi of gossiping and talking behind her with other housemates.

Reacting to the development, Pasuma on his Instagram page wrote: “I haven’t been paying attention to the Nigeria’s BBNAIJA reality show until recently i started receiving its viral updates which really have been largely filled with unpalatable dramas and misconducts by some of the housemates.

“The latest of this is the mindless verbal assault launched by one of the female housemates called CeeC against a male housemate named Tobi.

“This undesirable behaviour is clearly one of the indications of the collapse of our moral system and the weakness of the family unit as a vital agent of the society with the prime obligation to install values, good conduct and discipline in children from the cradle.

” Indeed, I’ve personally taken that as a duty as a parent. It’s always been part of my songs to the society and its expected that parents will take this responsibility with more seriousness.

“Though the BBN managers have penalised the erring housemate for her bad conduct, there must be stricter rules to effectively curb this unpleasant acts so as to enable viewers enjoy the real entertainment and instructional purposes of the show.”

PoliticsRe: Femi Adesina Reacts To Buhari's "Nigerian Youths Are Lazy, Uneducated" Comment by nabegibeg: 4:51pm On Apr 19, 2018
itsdumebi:
Below is a statement signed by the president's media aide, Femi Adesina;

At the Commonwealth Business Forum in London on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, President Muhammadu Buhari gave a keynote address on Making Business Easier Between Commonwealth Countries. The presentation was followed by a discussion, and question and answer session.

Responding to a question, President Buhari had cause to talk about some Nigerian youths, and he said: " We have a very young population; our population is estimated conservatively to be 180 million. More than 60 per cent of the population is below the age of 30. A lot of them have not been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria has been an oil producing country, therefore they should sit and do nothing and get housing, healthcare and education free.”
Typical of their stock in trade, manipulators and twisters of statements of Mr President, who lie in wait to make mischief, interpreted the comment to mean that President Buhari had taken all Nigerian youths to the cleaners. But elementary English recognizes a wide gulf between "a lot of" and the word "all." How can "a lot of them," suddenly transmogrify to mean “all of them?” Mischievous and unconscionable!

There is no way President Buhari, father of the Nigerian nation in every sense of the word, who equally has biological children of his own in the youths age bracket, pass a vote of no confidence on all youths. It can only exist in the imagination of those who play what the President has described as "irresponsible politics" with everything.

President Buhari has always applauded and celebrated Nigerian youths who excel in different areas of endeavour, from sports, to academia, and other realms. And he will continue to do so, because he values the youths, and knows that they are the fulcrum on which the future of the country rests.

Indeed, every country has its share of idle population, and it is the bounden duty of government at all levels, to create an enabling environment for them to actualize their potentials. That is what President Buhari is committed to doing.

The focal areas of the administration; securing the country, reviving the economy, and fighting corruption, are actually intended to give youths a future and a hope. This much was emphasized in an April 5, 2018 comment by President Buhari, while receiving Letter of Credence from the Head of Delegation of the European Union to Nigeria, when he said: " Our insistence on probity is to encourage people to be accountable, and accept honesty as a lifestyle so as to secure the future of our youths.’’ The President also said more than 60 percent of Nigerians fall into the age category of youths and deserve to inherit a stable and prosperous country that they can be proud of, adding that the government will work assiduously to prevent waste and the depletion of resources by corrupt Nigerians.

It is futile for mischief makers to lie in wait, and take a minor part of the words of the President, and turn it into negative commentary, peradventure they could diminish the profile of the President. Nigerians across all walks of life know who is serving them faithfully and truly, and they will always reciprocate such fidelity as occasions demand.
