PoliticsNationwide Blackout Looms As Labour To Embark On Strike by Nagisa(op): 3:16am On Sep 14, 2017
A nationwide blackout is expected to hit the country this weekend, even as the main Labour apparatus in the country has signaled it will embark on an indefinite strike if the Federal Government fails to meet its demands by tomorrow.

The United Labour Congress in a statement signed by the President, ULC, Joe Ajaero, cautioned Nigerians, advising them to stock up on food and supplies as the intention of the strike is to cripple the day to day running of the country.

“The strike will be very effective as we hope to cripple all modes of transportation within the nation; ensure a total blackout nationwide; cut off petroleum product supplies; and disrupt banking operations, which will make life a bit more difficult for Nigerians.

“We regret these consequences on all of us, but we hope that these measures will help us create a nation that is better governed for the benefits of Nigerian workers and Nigerian masses.”

The ULC said the strike was necessitated due to the Federal Government’s refusal to meet its demands within the 14 day ultimatum which was issued on August 22nd.

He added, “This course of action, though very painful to us at this time, is the only alternative available to us as we have exhausted all known peaceful processes towards an amicable resolution of the dispute.

“We, therefore, call on all genuine patriots to join hands in solidarity with us to urge the Federal Government and state governors to be kind enough to meet the demands of Nigerian workers and masses.”

The demands of the union include the immediate payment of all arrears of salaries owed workers at all levels of government without exception.

Ajaero added that other demands were that “the Federal Government honours its 2009 agreement with university lecturers under the umbrella of ASUU quickly and commences negotiations with them on new issues so that our universities will re-open.

“The roads leading to all the petroleum refineries and depots nationwide be repaired by the government to avoid the present carnage, wastage of products and properties on these roads.

“That the government should demand that the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment set up a task force immediately to carry out factory inspections as most of our factories are death traps.”

PoliticsIpob's Provocation Designed To Destroy Buhari-arewa Youths by Nagisa(op): 6:31pm On Sep 13, 2017
The Coalition of Northern Youth has said that the actions of Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) in the state are designed to discredit the President Muhammed Buhari administration and truncate democracy in Nigeria.

The Coalition in response to the clash between Area Youth and IPOB supporters in Port Harcourt earlier today said it will ignore the provocative actions of the secessionist agitators.

“All the violent activities playing out are well planned to escalate by 2019 and starting from 2018 to prevent a successful conduct of elections and eventually the collapse of this Buhari government and democracy in Nigeria.

In this situation, it is essential that the north and northerners remain restrained and refuse to be provoked into reprisals which is the ultimate hope of the conflict instigators.

The agitations and disturbances that have been ongoing ceaselessly since the coming of Buhari/Osibanjo administration are aimed at rendering the country practically ungovernable and ushering in of anarchy and instability, thereby occasioning a change of government by whatever means.

And the singling out of Buhari for attacks is a tactic to cause inter-regional crisis possibly leading to general unrest,”

PoliticsNigeria Must Feed Itself, says President Buhari by Nagisa(op): 4:38pm On Sep 13, 2017
President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday in Kaduna inaugurated Africa’s biggest hatchery and feed mill constructed by Olam Grains at the cost of over 150 million dollars.

Buhari, who inaugurated the company, had his speech read by Minister of Agriculture, Dr Audu Ogbeh.

He described Olam as one of the largest agro-based companies in Africa and the biggest poultry investment in Nigeria.

“We participated in the event because it is clear evidence that economic growth is taking place especially in the agricultural sector,” he said.

“It is in this connection that we must be able to feed ourselves from what we grow and grow what we eat before we can comfortably turn our attention to many other key concepts of our daily life.’’

The aim, he said, was to ensure that Nigerians have access to food, better life, and better hope for their future.

According to him, the inauguration of the company is a testimony that growth is serious and lasting growth is taking place in the economy.

The president stressed that with Nigeria exiting recession, the country has become a safe haven for investors.

He said the establishment of the company was a testimony that the country’s agricultural policies were working.

The president said the Federal Government has in the last two years made agriculture a profitable venture in Nigeria, attracting investments from within and outside the country.

He noted that new jobs were being created daily for the teaming youth and the economy has started booming again due to policy intervention in the agricultural sector which focused on internal growth and ending food imports.

“We have achieved so much in reducing rural-urban drift, we are beginning to witness reverse migration from the city to villages to engage in agriculture,’’ he added.

He challenged the company to patronise local maize farmers to encourage sustainable growth.

This he said, was necessary to build capacity of local people, create jobs, ensure wellbeing of the people and reduce crime.

On his part, Gov. Nasiru El-Rufai of Kaduna pledged that his administration would continue to encourage investors through favourable policies.

He advised political office holders and civil servants in the state to embrace farming.

The governor stressed that the establishment of the company in the state create thousands of jobs through the value chain.

The company would employ 8,000 Nigerians and 200 veterinary doctors, and hatch 1.6 million day-old-chick weekly.

It will process 180,000 tonnes of corn and 75,000 tonnes of soya beans to produce 360,000 tonnes of animal feeds yearly.

PoliticsEFCC Discovers N6bn Hotel In Abuja Linked To Patience Jonathan by Nagisa(op): 8:11am On Sep 13, 2017
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has traced a magnificient architectural edifice of an uncompleted eight-storey building in Abuja to be allegedly owned by wife of former president of Nigeria, Patience Jonathan.

The building, which is valued at N6billion, is located within the Central Business District, between the National Mosque and the Federal Secretariat.

It was alleged that the property was bought through her foundation known as Aribawa Aurera Reach Out Foundation.

In a document, which has been attached to a court application, the anti-graft agency said it had written to the Corporate Affairs Commission to get the identities of the directors of the foundation who are believed to be fronts for Patience.

The commission further stated that it had written to the Abuja Geographical Information System to get the history of the property and how and when it was bought.

The anti-graft agency has also written eight banks: Skye Bank, Fidelity Bank, First Bank, Union Bank, Guaranty Trust Bank, Zenith Bank, United Bank for Africa and Unity Bank.

Recall that the EFCC had frozen tan account belonging to the Aribawa Aurera Reach Out Foundation with account number 1222014221 in Ecobank with a balance of N479m.

The document read, “Plot 1350 Cadastral Zone A00 CBD which was allocated to Ariwabai Aurera Reach Out Foundation in 2010 and Certificate of Occupancy issued in 2011. The plot bears an eight-storey building still under construction.

“Inference may be drawn from investigation that the suspect’s (Patience) last known official position was permanent secretary in Bayelsa State. Hence, there is no way such magnificent architectural edifices could have been built within a short space of time.

“There is a high probability that it could have been built with the proceeds of crime. It is evidently clear that it is a case of money laundering but there is a need to do more investigation.”

The commission had also sealed a five-storey hotel, belonging to Patience, believed to be worth about N3bn located near Setraco Construction Company beside Mabushi Kado Expressway.

The property, which has not been officially opened, has between 50 to 100 rooms, a gymnasium, a fountain and other amenities.

Patience has been under probe since May 2016 when the commission arrested a former Special Adviser to the President on Domestic Affairs, Waripamowei Dudafa.

Patience laid claim to about $15m found in bank accounts allegedly belonging to Dudafa’s domestic servants.

She later sued Skye Bank Plc and the EFCC after which the commission, through a court order, froze her personal account with a balance of $5m.

However, in the case of the alleged N2bn hotel, the Anti-graft agency, it was learned, had proceeded to court to obtain an interim forfeiture order for the hotel and a N6bn plaza.

The document read in part, “In view of the foregoing, I request for an interim forfeiture order on the two properties amongst others linked to the suspect and believed to have been acquired from the proceeds of crime.

“This is particularly very important because attempts to mark the properties were resisted and even the portion that was successfully marked was later cleaned off by the agents of the suspect.”

In a similar development, the anti-graft agency has also traced three other properties in Abuja to Patience in Karsana, Wasa and Idogwari areas of the Federal Capital Territory.

According to documents from AGIS, the three properties were bought in the names of two companies – Finchley Top Homes Ltd. and AM-PM Network Limited.

The bank accounts of Finchley Top Homes Limited, which have been traced to Patience, were frozen by the commission a few months ago.

The accounts include: Account number 1102001996 in Ecobank, with a balance of N226,376,700.23 and a fixed deposit of N1,099,511,484.88; a Skye Bank account numbered 1771731336, with a balance of N14,173,848.85; Fidelity Bank account numbered, 4011019539 with a balance of N1,800,494,000; Stanbic Bank account numbered, 0016901361, with a balance of N40,594,12.88; and Diamond Bank account 0019213687 with a balance of N39,418,712.12.

In his reaction, Patience’s lawyer, Mr. Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN), said he was not aware of the fresh attempt to seize more of his client’s properties.

He, however, said it was sad that the former first lady had become a victim of a witch-hunt.

Adedipe said her client had dragged the EFCC to the Court of Appeal over the freezing of Mrs. Jonathan’s account while a harassment suit had been filed against the anti-graft agency before a Federal High Court.

The senior advocate said, “I am not aware of any of these but we are in court over the freezing of her accounts and that case is at the Court of Appeal level and we have a fundamental human rights case against them in court.

“My thinking is that the EFCC, which says nobody is above the law, should have waited for the judiciary to finish its process. In my humble opinion, it appears they are abusing judicial powers. When you file something today, tomorrow you file another. Why not put everything in one pot? That is why they lose cases.

“Why are they focusing on Mrs. Jonathan who was neither a minister nor a government official? I’m not saying people should steal but it may seem she is being persecuted wrongly”.

PoliticsNigeria Less Safe Under Buhari -soyinka by Nagisa(op): 6:40pm On Sep 12, 2017
Nobel prize winner, Professor Wole Soyinka has said that Nigeria has become less secure under the leadership of President Muhammed Buhari.

The playwright made the statement at a function held by The Cedars Institute, Lebanon, in conjunction with The Wole Soyinka Foundation.

Soyinka expressed his disgust for those talking about a second term for President Muhammed Buhari.

Soyinka stated, “Why are we talking about second term for heaven’s sake? I don’t understand this. I refuse to be part of that discussion. I absolutely refuse to be part of the discussion.’’

He said, “Take simple security for instance. The average citizen feels less secure now than he did a few years ago; that is evident. When people talk about state police, there are reasons for it. When they talk about bringing policing right down to the community level, they know what they are talking about. This is also part and parcel of reconstruction or reconfiguration.

“The economy, there is a big question about it right now. Fortunately, everybody admits that we went through a very bad patch. Right now, it is a question of have we come out of it or not or there is no question at all.

“The past few years have been years of real internal economic disaster for the average citizen.’’

Soyinka lent his voice to the calls for restructuring in the country.

“Like I said when I visited the Women Arise (For Change Initiative) the other day, it doesn’t matter by what name you call it. We all know what we are talking about. We all know that this nation was deconstructed and that what we live in right now as a nation is not along a structure that expresses the true will of Nigerians.

“So, when people use words like ‘restructuring, reconfiguring or call it reconfiguration, return to status quo, or call it reformulating the protocols of our association or used a single word like restructuring, it doesn’t matter. Everybody knows what we are talking about. That is number one.

“Also, there are those who try to divert the attention away from the main issue by mouthing platitudes, clichés like it is the mind that needs restructuring. You know those I am referring to.

“This is a constant process—restructuring the mind. It is both an individual exercise as well as a theological exercise. People go to church and mosque to have their minds restructured. They go to school and extramural classes to have their minds restructured. Restructuring the mind is not the issue.

“Nobody is saying that the exercise of restructuring the mind should not be undertaken; it should be undertaken. Anybody who indulges in self-examination is already engaging in an exercise of mental and attitudinal reconstruction. We know that. People shouldn’t try to substitute one for the other.

“I find it very dishonest and cheap time-serving, trivialising the issue when I hear expressions like ‘it is the mind that needs to be restructured.’ Who is arguing or denying that? Why bring it up? Why is it a substitute?

“We are talking about the protocols of association of the constitutive parts of a nation. We are talking of decentralisation. That is another word. This country is over-centralised.

“Are you saying we cannot reconstruct the mind and reconstruct the nation at the same time? Call it by whatever name. We are saying that this nation is long overdue for reconfiguring. That is the expression I choose to use now.’’

PoliticsBoko Haram:"jonathan Thought It Was A Ploy"-obasanjo by Nagisa(op): 8:12am On Sep 12, 2017
A former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo has spoken out on how another former President, Goodluck Jonathan thought the threat of Boko Haram was a ploy.

Obasanjo said that Jonathan was of the belief that Boko Haram was a creation of the North to stop him from being President and therefore he didn’t pay proper attention to it.

He said this in an interview with the BBC in which he said that even the kidnap of the Chibok girls was not believed by the President at the time and therefore the drive to rescue them came late.

He said; “I went out in 2011 to Maiduguri. I took great risk to find out what is really happening. Boko Haram, do they have grievances, if they have grievances, what are their grievances and I brought all that to Jonathan.

“Jonathan didn’t believe that Boko Haram was a serious issue. He thought that it was a device by the North to prevent him from continuing as president of Nigeria which was rather unfortunate.”

The former President went on to say; “Even when Chibok girls were abducted, it took a while for the government to believe. Now if that is the situation, you can understand why the right attention was not paid to the issue of Boko Haram when it should have been paid.”

BusinessNaira To Fall Towards N400-$1 As Electioneering Resumes by Nagisa(op): 3:49am On Sep 12, 2017
The Nigerian Naira is expected to trade closer to N400 per one dollar as election campaigns for the 2019 elections enter into full swing.

Already some presidential candidates are gesturing, and financial analysts says that could result in a negative trend in 2018.

Electioneering is expected to push up government spending in 2018 and the risk of the budget deficit being monetised will increase, which would be negative for the naira, according to the Lagos arm of Russian Investment Bank, Renaissance Capital.

The foreign exchange market analysts, however indicated the naira was currently undervalued.

“On 2 August, banks began to publish indicative prices based on trades at the NAFEX window, at the behest of the authorities. This led to the adjustment of the interbank FX rate to $1/N366, from $1/ N315 previously, and its convergence with the only market determined rate (outside the parallel market), the NAFEX rate.

“At today’s interbank rate of c. $1/N360, the naira is cheap; it is 14 per cent undervalued, according to this analyst’s 13-year real effective exchange rate model.

“We think a stronger external sector and tighter monetary policy imply naira appreciation risk in the near term, and as such, we revise our YE17 FX rate forecast to $1/N332 as against $1/N447 previously,” they posited.

They said the Naira would decline in 2018 based on macro economic realities.

“Looser monetary policy in 2018 implies a weaker Naira,” the analysts stated, adding that Godwin Emefiele, the central bank governor, had expressed a desire for policy easing in a mid-2017 monetary policy committee (MPC) statement, but thinks appropriate liquidity conditions should precede it.

They, therefore, forecast an FX rate of $1/N373 at year end 2018 (YE18).

“Our FX model predicts a rate of $1/N373 at YE18; assuming monetary policy becomes accommodative and little upside for the external sector. We think it is probable that instead of appreciating in the near term, the naira weakens gradually to $1/N373 at YE18, which would signal price stability

PoliticsBuhari's Government Deceiving Nigerians- Wike by Nagisa(op): 5:20am On Sep 11, 2017
Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike has said that the President Muhammed Buhari government formed by the ruling party, All Progressives Congress, APC, is deceiving Nigerians.

He was speaking in connection to a controversial report released by the National Bureau of Statistics recently which stated that Nigeria had exited the economic recession it had faced for the majority of the Buhari administration.

Speaking in a chat with the Independent, Wike said, “When you say you are out of recession, it has an implication. The implication is that the economy has bounced back. When the economy has bounced back, it means there is food on the table for people to eat.

“For the government, it means there is money for states to embark on infrastructure and development of their various areas. But you can see that most politicians try to deceive the people who have given them the mandate and their votes to represent them.

“I don’t believe that Nigeria is out of recession because there must be signs to show that we are out of recession. All these things they are saying about Nigeria out of recession are gimmicks. Each time, the ruling party has a problem, they find one thing to talk about in order to keep on moving so that Nigerians can continue to believe in them. That to me is not correct. You can no longer continue to deceive Nigerians.

“It is just like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar said, there must be signs to show that we are out of recession. If truly we are out, what is the impact on the economy? When the economy is good, there are indices to show that is back and has come out of recession. So, I don’t believe that statement. It is not correct to say that we are out of recession”, he said.

We must adopt all know legal mechanism to resist the unconstitutional but violent approach in dealing with unarmed people merely operating within the confines of law. Buhari must be held responsible.

“We are ready to present our case once more before the International Court of Justice. The families that lost their beloved ones in the last year may 29th violent attack by the military are yet to recover from the shock of losing their love ones. This situation must be arrested in time. ”

PoliticsThe One Thing That Can Stop Buhari In 2019-governor Amosun Reveals by Nagisa(op): 3:40pm On Sep 10, 2017
Ogun state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, has weighed in on the comments attributed to the Minister for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajia Aisha Alhassan.

Alhassan had said her support would be for Alhaji Atiku Abubakar at the 2019 elections, citing that the former Vice President is her political godfather, and highlighting the fact that President Muhammed Buhari had not yet decided to run.

In response, Amosun stated Alhassan is entitled to her opinion but noted she should have resigned honorably before making such statements.

Amosun made this known in Abeokuta, yesterday, when fielding questions from journalists at a book launch and scholarship scheme in commemoration of the late renowned educationist, Chief Lamidi Sofenwa.

His words: “She is entitled to her opinion, but I would have saluted her if she had honourably resigned her appointment because you can not blow both hot and cold at the same time.”

“For somebody to have come out to say such thing means clearly she is even working against the government and she will not want that government to succeed. Yes, that is my own belief, although I may be wrong, but if I were in her shoes, I would have resigned.”

“The only thing that can probably prevent Mr. President from contesting is on health ground because if not for this administration of President Muhammad Buhari, only God knows where Nigeria would have been.”

PoliticsFashola Wasted N740 Billion Power Sector Fund- NLC by Nagisa(op): 8:34am On Sep 10, 2017
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to do an immediate and comprehensive audit of all monies so far spent in government effort at reviving the power sector in the country since 1999 which it said has failed to yield result, but rather produced several billionaires as a result of diversion of the funds.

In a communique made available to newsmen at the end of its Central Working Committee meeting, the Congress is asking the government to immediately inaugurate the National Minimum Wage negotiating committee in view of the impoverishment of the Nigerian worker.

The communique signed by the NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba and General Secretary, Dr, Peter Oyo-Eson also reviewed the continued poor service delivery in the power sector and observed that since the current administration came to power in May 2015, it had given N740 Billion to the power sector as intervention fund without much to show for it. CWC, therefore, cannot comprehend the rationale behind the administration’s preparedness to give a further N39 billion bailout to DISCos for metering purpose.

“There is no guarantee that the DISCOs will not go back cap in hand to government again on the issue of provision of meters as the minister of power recently disclosed that DISCOs need about N220 billion to provide meters to Nigerians.

“Given that one of the conditions precedents for the privatization by the last administration was that the new owners would provide meters for customers within 24 months or so, CWC felt that the defaulting DISCOs ought to face sanctions and not additional bailout.

“CWC, therefore, call for an urgent and proper auditing of the money spent in the effort to revive the power sector since 1999 which rather than transform into increased light provision has produced tens, if not hundreds of billionaires as a result of the diversion of the funds. Nothing illustrates this better than a recent report which showed that in the almost 18 years of the current democratic dispensation, over 11 trillion has been expended from the public treasury to lift the power sector to no avail.

“The meeting called on the federal government to inaugurate the minimum wage committee immediately as the committee ought to have been put in place several months ago.

The CWC also wants the federal government to compel state governors to properly account for the bail-out funds they received from the federal government as well as the two tranches of the Paris Club refund which was supposed to be used for the payment of salaries and pensions, but diverted to other uses.

It also asked the government not to release the third and final tranche of the Paris Club refund to state governors until they make a concrete commitment to use the money to settle outstanding salaries, allowances and pension of workers and retirees in the country.

The Congress regretted that government has not lived up the expectation of Nigerians and are in the habit of reneging on signed agreements with unions, pointing out that the ongoing strike by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities was avoidable.

“It reviewed the continuous non-payment of months of outstanding salaries of workers in some states of the federation as well as various arrears of pension which has also run into several months which is the actual situation despite President Muhammadu Buhari’s passion to address this matter since he assumed office by giving bail out to governors to clear this shameful state of affairs with the nation’s workforce.

“The Federal government has further released tranches of Paris Club refund to states government with specific appeals to the and commitment by the governors forum to use the refund for the settlement of arrears of salaries and pension owed by various states to their civil servants and retrirees.

“Despite the President’s laudable intervention notwithstanding, states like Kogi, Benue and Bayelsa are still owing workers 5-10 months in salaries arrear and pension. There are other states like Kaduna and Zamfara that have refused to disclose any information about how it had utilized the bailout and Paris Club refund despite demand from unions and the general public.

“Several efforts by unions and workers in the affected states to know what these state governors are using these funds for have yielded little or no results.”

PoliticsSANS Intimidate Judges In Anti-corruption Cases -EFCC Boss by Nagisa(op): 9:10am On Sep 08, 2017
The acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu has declared a total war on corruption in the country.

The EFCC bigwig said this during a courtesy visit to The Nation’s headquarters in Lagos.“We’re now going to declare total war on corruption.

It is our responsibility to crush corrupt practices in this country,” he said.

Magu said the biggest challenge facing the anti-corruption battle now is “corruption fighting back.”“It’s real and they (those fighting back) have all the money,” he said.

He faulted the Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) who collect money to defend alleged looters.

“How can 31 SANs go to court to defend one (suspected) looter? Sometimes judges are intimidated. Why should 31 SANs appear for a suspect? We need to ask questions,” Magu said.

“They abuse the court process, file all kinds of applications and go on appeal, which goes up to the Supreme Court and back. They adopt different technicalities and delay tactics. Sometimes they provoke the judges and write petitions against them.

EducationOAU: SUG Leaders In Bloody Fight Over N3.8m Largesse by Nagisa(op): 3:32pm On Sep 07, 2017
Two people have been injured in a fight that ensued between Students Union Government (SUG) leaders of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, on Tuesday.

During the fight, the Vice President of the union, Miss Jacob Tosin, allegedly broke a bottle and stabbed the Social Director, Adedayo Emmanuel, in the arm.

It was learnt that Tosin, who also received a headbutt from Emmanuel, had been admitted to the Seventh Day Adventist Hospital, Ile-Ife.

The fight, according to multiple sources, started when a meeting was held on how to spend a sum of N3.8m released to the union by the university management.

Trouble started when the union’s President, Ibukun Edward, asked other executive members for a project that could be financed with the N3.8m that the school has just disbursed to them.

While the president reportedly suggested the construction of a relaxation centre for the students, the Public Relations Officer, Simon Okediji, reportedly pushed for a library, while the Welfare Director, Ajiboye Adekanmi, was said to have asked that a staircase to a major lecture theater be constructed, among others.

The VP, popularly called Emerald, was said to have proposed that freshmen’s packages should be sponsored with part of the money. Her plan was allegedly rejected.

According to the Executive member, who did not want to be named, Emerald flared up and attempted to leave the meeting, but was persuaded to stay till the end.

“She proposed N1.4m for the freshmen’s packages. We told her that when we get the dues for this session, we would look into her suggestion.

She flared up and was about leaving the meeting when Lamba (Emmanuel) jokingly told her not to leave and stood on her way. She slapped him twice and held his shirt.

“We separated them and continued with the meeting, but the VP was still angry. After a while, we just saw her rushing to open the refrigerator of the president; she was looking for a bottle. We thought it was a joke and someone pointed her attention to an empty bottle; she smashed it on the table.

“When the bottle didn’t break, she smashed it on the floor and took a part of the broken bottle, charged at Lamba and stabbed him in the arm. While we struggled to collect the bottle, Lamba also headbutted her.”

The student leaders had earlier been accused of misappropriation when they used a previous disbursement of N3m in June to purchase a bus.

Though the union executive members said the bus was purchased for N2.5m, students of the institution insisted that the bus was bought for N900,000.

Politics2019: Buhari May Not Run- Minister by Nagisa(op): 6:41am On Sep 07, 2017
The minister for women affairs, Senator Aisha Alhassan has suggested that President Muhammed Buhari may not present himself for elections in 2019.

In a reaction to her perceived support for an Atiku Abubakar presidency in 2019, the minister who Buhari appointed in 2015 said she was not wrong for fraternizing with Atiku as neither he nor the President had declared an interest in the 2019 ticket.

The minister declared on Wednesday that those criticizing her Sallah visit to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in Yola, were being “mischievous”.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) quotes commentators on social media as alleging that Alhassan’s visit, during which she made philosophical comments on the 2019 presidential contest, was a tacit support for Abubakar’s presidential ambition.
They also alleged that it signified disloyalty to her current boss, President Muhammadu Buhari, who may still be interested in seeking a fresh mandate.

But Alhassan, in a telephone interview with NAN, said that her Sallah homage to Abubakar did not amount to disloyalty to Buhari.

She explained that Abubakar had remained her political mentor over the years and was still a stalwart of the All Progressives Congress (APC), adding that her loyalty to Buhari and his administration, which she serves as a minister, was “unshakable”.

The minister accused her “political detractors” of “amplifying and misinterpreting” the visit so as to smear her image because they were afraid of her growing political strength in Taraba.

“In a nation where politicians are quick to dump the people that assisted them to get to where they are, for political expediency, I have chosen to maintain a long standing family relationship with Abubakar, as well as Buhari, who I consider as a father.

“Besides, neither Buhari nor Abubakar has officially told anyone of an interest in seeking election in 2019,” she said.
Declaring that power comes from God, she said that if she loses her job because of her visit, she would consider it as the will of God.

She urged Nigerians to support the policies and programmes of the Buhari administration because it was time for governance and not yet time for politicking.

NAN recalls that criticisms has continued to trail the minister’s pronouncements over the 2019 presidential contest during a Sallah homage to Abubakar on Sept. 4, 2017, with many viewing it as a campaign for Abubakar.

PoliticsAs Crisis Deepens, Buhari Opts To Take Wednesday Off by Nagisa(op): 8:54am On Sep 06, 2017
The Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting scheduled for Wednesday will not hold according to the spokesman of the federal government.

Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information stated that the two-day public holiday declared for the Eid el-Kabir celebration left little or no time to prepare for the weekly meeting.

The public condemned the government for taking a lackadaisical approach to the management of the economy.

The outrage from sections of the public comes as a result of the poor state of economic affairs in the country. The hike in food prices, and other inflationary impact on day to day living, has touched Nigerians in every area apart from income, which has remained stagnant.

To fuel the suffering, currently the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has embarked on an industrial action. Resident doctors in the county have also downed their tools.

However the Information minister says the holidays left it little time to prepare documents for the meeting.

PoliticsFederal Government Condemns Killing Of Nigerians In South Africa by Nagisa(op): 4:02pm On Sep 03, 2017
Senator Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the senior special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on foreign affairs and Diapora has again spoken on the incessant extrajudicial killing of Nigerians living in South Africa.

In her words, she revealed how displeased the Federal Government is with the issue. She also said that the continuous killing is a proof that South Africa has underrated Nigeria and her possible retaliation. Her special assistant on media, Abdurrahman Balogun on Saturday quoted “this is one death, too many.”

She also showed her concern towards the negligent attitude put up by the South Africa government as regard the early warning signal that was supposed to be put in place to curb the menace.

Nigeria Union in South Africa, recently confirmed the killing of another member, Kingsley Ikeri, at Vryheid town in Kwazulu Natal Province of South Africa on August 30. The deceased was counted to be the second indigene of Imo state to become a victim of genocide in the last two weeks.

While reiterating the President’s call to Nigerians living abroad to avoid criminal acts which attract serious punishments and sometimes death, she explained that the recent killing has increased the number of Nigerians killed in South Africa through extrajudicial means in one year.

Dabiri-Erewa again urged the South Africa government to take necessary steps in carrying out proper investigation, ensuring that justice takes its place and the culprits punished accordingly.

Over the last two years, 116 Nigerians have been killed in south Africa. Dabiri-Erewa then sympathized with the victims’ family.

“My heart goes out to the families of the deceased and pray God to grant the departed soul eternal rest,” she said.

PoliticsBiafra Secret Service Moves To Dismantle Biafra Political Link with Nigeria by Nagisa(op): 1:26am On Sep 03, 2017
An offshoot of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) group, the Biafra Secret Service has said henceforth there would be no further elections conducted by the Nigerian government in Igbo land.

Ezekwesiri Kenneth, a commander of the BSS in Ebonyi said Anambra, which is scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct elections on November 18th, would be used as a pilot phase to disrupt the political links between Nigeria and Biafra.

Speaking during a solidarity march in Afikpo North council area, Ezekwesiri said elections in Anambra would hold over their dead bodies.

He said: “Nnamdi Kanu established the Biafra Secret Service to help in the security of Biafra territory. We are working underground such that the Nigerian Government doesn’t know how we operate.

“All we are agitating is that we are tired of being in this contraption called Nigeria. We are tired of the Nigerian Government. And we matching along these major roads are to tell the people that there will be no more Nigerian election in Biafran land. We are taking the message to every nook and cranny of Biafran land to tell them not to acquire the Nigeria’s voter’s card not to talk of their election.

“We are going to use Anambra State to set an example so that other states in Biafran land will learn. We are sure and we are going to assure them that there will be no election in Anambra State. The message is that there will be no election in Biafran land starting from Kogi, Benue, Edo, Delta, Enugu, Imo, Abia, Ebonyi, Port Harcourt, Bayelsa, Cross River, Akwa Ibom and others.

“It will be over our dead bodies to see election hold in Anambra State. The South East Governors knows what was going to happen that was why they invited him to a meeting in Enugu. The governors invited him to negotiate and take money just like Uwazurike did but the man was standing on his words. He made them understand that if he allows election to hold in Anambra State, then he has been doing nothing.

“The federal government is just backing like toothless bulldog. He said that he wants to arrest our messiah, Nnamdi Kanu, the messiah who will lead us to the Promised Land. How can somebody who did not go to school want to arrest a graduate? If you say that Biafrans cannot go then he must give us real restructuring. But you know what, he cannot offer it.”

CrimeI Have Made A Convenant With God- Evans Turns Pastor In Jail Cell by Nagisa(op): 1:55pm On Sep 02, 2017
Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, the billionaire kidnapper well known as Evans who made over N1 billion from his kidnapping organization has sent out a Save our Souls prayer to his wife, children and other Nigerians who might mean him well.

The notorious criminal who is facing 52 criminal counts ranging from kidnapping to murder has said that he has made a covenant with God not to lie to the court concerning his role in the crimes he allegedly committed.

The kidnapper who pleaded guilty to some charges earlier this week has converted to born again Christianity in hopes that the court will spare his life and not sentence him to death.

He revealed this in an interview with SUN newspaper. Evans said, “I already have a covenant with God. If police take me to court, I told God that I will not tell lies against the police or victims. I promise to tell the court the truth about any crime that I am guilty of. Please, people of Nigeria should forgive me.”

“I just believe in God for a miracle.

“I will serve God all my life. I also promised the police that I will help them to fight crime.”

Evans told the Sun that he had already become a pastor, and that he never meant to kill anyone in his criminal endeavours. He said, “The only time that someone died (during his operations) was during the attempted kidnap of the chairman of The Young Shall Grow Motors.”

“During that operation, we were attacked and there was exchange of gunshots. They shot at us and my gang members shot back at them. It was in the morning that I heard that one inspector and the driver who drove the Young Shall Grow chairman died. It was an unfortunate incident. I have totally regretted everything about crime. It does not pay. I keep telling people to learn from my story. Crime does not pay. Everything I acquired all these years are gone just in a day. I will be an agent of change in prison.”

Evans said he would disown his lawyer in court, in hopes that his guilty plea will grant him a more lenient sentence from the court.

Concerning his wife and children, Evans stated, “I want you to tell them that I am still alive and healthy. They should simply pray for me that the court will not sentence me to death.”

Politics2019: Automatic Buhari Ticket Splits APC by Nagisa(op): 10:14am On Sep 02, 2017
Since President Muhammadu Buhari’s return from his 103 days health pilgrimage, the administration has witnessed different political scheming that may limit the chances of the ruling party, All Progressive Congress (APC), come 2019 when the administration is expected to seek re-election.

Although often downplayed as party or family affairs, APC has gone through different trials from within the party in the short period of ascending from an opposition party to the ruling party. Many of the woes were compounded by the President’s sickness and its inability to fulfill all and/or most of his campaign promises.

Recently, the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun has insisted that President Buhari remains the presidential candidate to beat.
Downplaying the effects of President Buhari’s ill-health which many believed slowed down governance and affected the delivery of the party’s manifestoes and campaign promises.

Also supporting Chief Oyegun’s pledge of automatic ticket to President Buhari is a chieftain of the APC, Mr Osita Okechukwu, he argued that the move would assist the president to consolidate on his achievements

However, with a contrary opinion another member of the National Working Committee (NWC), who spoke on conditions of anonymity said that the major concern of the party should be to see how Mr President can serve out his first tenure and more importantly deliver the unfulfilled campaign promises that convinced Nigerians to massively vote for him and the party.

“How can you even be talking about second term for Mr President when he has not finished the current term. As far as we are concerned, automatic second term ticket for Mr President is not a consideration for the national leadership for now and we don’t want to respond to mere speculation because he has not even formally informed us of such an ambition.”

However, whether President Buhari will receive automatic ticket depends largely on these political gladiators. The former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, Governors Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna and Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto respectively as well as Senate President Bukola Saraki among others

The government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as part of its bilateral partnership with Nigeria has reportedly begun providing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with a list of Nigerians with loot stashed in the middle eastern country.

According to the Nigerian Senate, over $200 billion is hidden in Dubai. The EFCC has already began sifting through the list which includes high profile politicians, bankers, oil executives and other politically exposed persons.

PoliticsWhy Sen.misau Is After IGP Idris by Nagisa(op): 7:46pm On Aug 31, 2017
Since President Buhari appointed IGP Ibrahim K. Idris as the Inspector General of Police after the approval of the Council of State at the State House, Abuja in June 2016, Senator Isah Hamma Misau has set in motion to bring down the IGP Ibrahim K. Idris.

Swift Reporters investigation revealed that Senator Isah Hamma Misau has been projecting his in-law, an AIG currently a teaching staff at National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies – Kuru (NIPSS) to be the Inspector General of Police after IGP Solomon Arase (rtd).

Investigation by Swift Reporters indicate that Senator Isah Misau has spent closely 300million Naira in ensuring that his in-law becomes the Inspector General of Police.

When all his effort failed with the confirmation of IGP Ibrahim K. Idris as the Inspector General of Police by the Council of State, Sen, Isah Misau has been using some officers within the Nigeria Police to bring about different unsubstantial allegations against IGP Ibrahim Idris.

The purpose of Sen. Misau projection of his in-law for the position of the IGP is to clear his criminal records in the Force. From available record, Senator Isah Misau, was an Ex- Police Officer; his real name in the Police is DSP Mohammed Isa Hamman, with Police number AP No. 57300. He left the Nigeria Police Force at the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police after being charged with several acts of serious misconducts, unprofessional wrong doings contrary to discipline and other discreditable improper behaviors unbecoming of a Police officer and that are inimical to image of the Nigeria Police Force, which can lead to dismissal or compulsory retirement from the Force.

Further information also revealed that he was under Pending Disciplinary Matter (PDM), to appear and face Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC) before he hurriedly exited unceremoniously from the Force.

Swift Reporters investigations shows that Sen Misau must have been following his father’s step, a retired AIG who has a damaging records of corruption and Police women scandals in the Force.

It is on record that Senator Isah Hamma Misau refused to appear before the Special Investigation Panel set up by the Inspector General of Police to investigate complaints and allegations credited to him as reported on Page 3 of Daily Trust of 10th August, 2017 captioned “Police Officers pay bribe for special promotion –Senator”.

In the said publication, Senator Isah Misau alleged that he has received several petitions and complaints emanating from Police Officers on allegations of payment of money for special promotion.

Senator Isah Misau’s appearance before the Committee would have ensured that appropriate judicial action and other punishments melted out to erring officers charged with the allegations as it is appropriate in line with the provisions of Public Service Rules Section 030401 (j) (k) and other statutory enabling Laws/Acts.

Those who worked with Sen. Misau when he was still serving in the Force said his second name is corruption. A Police officer who decide to remain anonymous said that he paid huge sum of money to ensure that he worked consecutively with three FCT Ministers as an ADC; starting with Aliyu Modibbo Umar, Adamu Aliero and Bala Mohammed.

Another Police Officer who begged not to be named said that promotions in the Nigeria Police is not for sale but based on merit.

“All the officers and other Ranks and Files IGP Idris has promoted merited their ranks, they records are there for the people to see including Sen. Misau, he said.

“If Senator’s phone records are checked, it will reveal the identities of officers giving him false information which he is reeling out to the media ignorantly. Senator has been receiving text messages and e-mails recently from some unidentified officers. Idris is a refined officer, Senator just want his in-law to become the IGP by all means so as to clear his damaging records in the Police Force,

Further investigations revealed that Senator Misau has no tangible evidence on all the allegations against the Inspector General of Police. His main objective is for President Buhari to suspend IGP Ibrahim Idris so that his in-law at NIPSS can become Ag. IGP pending investigations of all the allegations against IGP Idris.

PoliticsPdp Caused Buhari's Sickness- Umenzekwe by Nagisa(op): 7:56am On Aug 31, 2017
The monumental corruption occasioned on Nigeria during the tenure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ]was what caused President Muhammed Buhari’s illness.

According to Chief Modestus Umenzekwe, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, the N11 trillion stolen from the power sector alone is enough to make an anti-corruption crusader unwell.

Umenzekwe, in a statement said the visit of the Presidential Media Team to the President in London, earlier this month, exposed the lies fed to Nigerians by critics about his health and the economy.

The statement reads: “The visit exposed the opposition and their cohorts of the kind of thoughts that ruled Nigerians for 16 years. President Buhari’s ill health was caused the monumental heap of corruption that he met when he assumed duty.

Presidential aide, Lauretta Onochie, has slammed those calling for the extradition of a former Petroleum Minister in the country, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Recall that some Nigerians led a convener of the #ResumeOrResign protest which held days ago, Charly Boy stormed the headquarters of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, demanding the extradition of the former minister for committing various financial crimes in the country.

In reaction to the protest led by Nigerian singer, Charly Boy, the presidential aide noted that those who participated in the protest clearly do not know how the legal system works.

Lauretta Onochie further cited the case of a former Delta State Governor, James Onanafe Ibori who was recently released from a UK jail after serving 13 years sentence.

She noted that Ibori was jailed in the UK for crimes committed against the UK government and not for those he committed in Nigeria.

Pointing out the ignorance of the protesters, Lauretta Onochie who deemed them ‘mumu’ took to her Twitter page to write:

Christianity EtcOver 400 Jehovah's Witnesses Faint During Convention by Nagisa(op): 3:19pm On Aug 28, 2017
No fewer than 400 persons belonging to the Jehovah’s Witness denomination have been reported to have fainted during a convention which held in Angola.

According to report, the Jehovah’s Witness all fainted during the convention due to a toxic gas attack.

A local news source reported the incident to have occurred on Friday following which three young men were arrested in connection with the attack.

Portal de Angola reported that more than 7,000 worshipers were at the venue of the convention when the attack occurred.

The weekend-long convention which held in the outskirts of Luanda, Angola saw forty-three victims and members of the Jehovah’s Witness rushed to the hospital.

Following their hospitalization, no details has surfaced regarding the health state of the members who fainted.

A witness identified as Abraham Kituxi told the local news source that his sister-in-law was one of the first persons to collapse.

PoliticsPunch Is Fake News - Garba Shehu Says Over Report About PMB & Cabal by Nagisa(op): 1:14am On Aug 28, 2017
The Presidency has come out in strong terms to debunk news reports that President Muhammed Buhari is under influence from a cabal.

Punch news had reported on Sunday that President Buhari was once again being controlled by a cabal of his close aides and kinsmen from Daura.

In response, the Presidency has towed the line of US President Donald Trump and accused Punch newspapers of manufacturing spurious allegations.

Punch had reported, “The Buhari presidency has been dogged by persistent rumors and speculation that a group comprising some members of the President’s extended family and friends are the powers behind the throne. This group is said to have the ear of the President, influence policy-making and determine those who get major appointments.

“Among those identified as being members of the cabal were: the President’s nephew, Mamman Daura; the father to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (Muhammed Bello) Musa Bello; the President’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari; Samaila Isa Funtua and a few others.

The leading newspaper had also reported that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was being tele-guided by the cabal and was being made to purposely look incompetent by the Presidents aides.

Reacting to that report, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said it was blackmail.

His statement to the press reads, “As Acting President, Vice President Osinbajo enjoyed the support of the Villa Staff and the entire cabinet. Otherwise he would not have succeeded and earn the praises of the President. `These are just a few among the false and illogical accusations making the CoS larger than life, with the aim of pulling him down. No Chief of Staff including this one can create hurdles for a president and survive the next day. “The roles and duties don’t warrant the kind of falsehood being spread.’’

“Publishing poorly-researched allegations and trying to pass them off as investigative journalism or as news may lead to more newspaper sales or to more clicks on a website; but they will also, in the long run, slow down the growth and development of our country, which right now requires the absolute focus of President Buhari and his carefully-selected team to build the Nigeria of our dreams.

“Unfortunately, this is the path The Punch has chosen and there’s no one to help them but themselves.’’

“It is difficult to understand what anyone wants to achieve peddling such falsehood that the President, himself a former military general and Head of State and Commander-In-Chief is subject to undue influence and manipulation. “It is both ridiculous and inconceivable.

“As someone who works very closely with President Buhari, I can testify to how my years of experience as a newspaper editor are often put to the test by the sheer thoroughness with which the President edits every single document brought to his desk.

“Every memo, statement, speech, is subject to his intense scrutiny, right down to the placement of commas and full stops. “Therefore, alleging that President Buhari signs memos brought to him by government officials or a so-called cabal without reading them, immediately casts doubts on the credibility of the ubiquitous unnamed sources that the reporters of these articles quote.

“But, of course, the President cannot do everything. He cannot micromanage every task. “That is why he needs close officials, whom he trusts, who will be willing to offend others in the process of ensuring his own safety and well being, and the advancement of his vision for Nigeria.

Shehu advised Journalists with questions to ask concerning the President and the Villa administration to always contact the Special Adviser, Femi Adesina, SSA to the President (Office of the Vice-President) Laolu Akande or himself. “Where we don’t have your answers, we are ready to obtain as much as we can, the correct responses to your enquiry,’’ he added.

PoliticsLearn From Obama-okupe Advises Buhari In Open Letter by Nagisa(op): 8:10pm On Aug 27, 2017
Former senior special assistant to former President Goodluck Jonathan on Public Relations, Dr. Doyin Okupe has called on President Muhammed Buhari to take a page from former US President Barack Obama as he moves to solve Nigeria’s problems.

Okupe wrote:

Your Excellency,

You are welcome back from your long sojourn outside the country on account of your illness. Many, including those around you, and others currently felicitating with you had given up on you and actually started working on plans based on their assumption that you were not likely to come back alive.

In truth, for which you can bear witness yourself, God Almighty snatched you from the jaws of death. This was not because you were president, or the millions you spent, or the extra competence of your doctors; since great people succumb to death, even in the UK and despite their medical expertise.

You survived purely by the mercy of God, the creator of all flesh. That is why I was surprised that on your return, you thought it was more important to satisfy the demand of those who did not wish you well, or derided you for your ill-health. Your Excellency, what you needed to do, and you should still do, is to show appreciation to God who preserved your life and kept you alive against all evil expectations.

On your instruction sir, glory must be given to God Almighty. All mosques should praise and thank God on your behalf on a chosen Friday. You may participate in this with family and close associates in the Villa Mosque. Your vice can lead a thanksgiving service at the Villa and this can be done throughout the country on the Sunday that follows.

God has brought you back for a purpose; pray to know that purpose and ask for health and strength to achieve it. As our leader, and a God-fearing nation, let us begin to acknowledge God in our national affairs, so that He may direct and prosper our ways. However, in your long absence, a lot has happened in the country. The country is in dire straits economically and sharply divided like never before; geopolitically and also along religious lines.

Your broadcast has not helped. But you are an elected president and you can broadcast to the nation as many times as you deem fit if you feel there is a need to make certain corrections in the previous broadcast. You don’t even have to go through the elaborate and strenuous route of the LIVE TV broadcasts because of your health.

I know that your last 6 minutes broadcast may have taken 1 hour or more to get it right. You can achieve more in radio broadcasts which you can actually do weekly from the comfort of your home; with the least stress.

This way, you can talk to the nation less formally and from your heart, on your perspectives, your vision and dreams, your hopes and plans for its teeming masses. People will concentrate more on your message than your person. Ronald Regan and Obama used this broadcast tool most effectively with a positive impact on the citizens.

I am not one of your fans or avid supporters. In fact, I did all I could to stop you from becoming an elected president. I have no regrets. It was a competition, in which I had my own candidate, but God and the people of Nigeria have decided in your favour and as far as I am concerned, the matter has been long settled.

However, your Excellency, you and your administration have so much to accomplish but unfortunately, the time is now very short. The presidential elections are in February 2019. That is barely 18 months away.

However, by June/July next year (just 10 months away), activities of government wind down and the nation goes into full swing mode of politicking and preparing for the February elections. Based on the above, I respectfully submit for your considerations the following agenda:

1. Adopt Obama’s SURGE approach to deal decisively with Boko Haram. When Obama’s administration was winding down, he wanted to end the Iraqi military quagmire. Knowing he had little time, he and his generals decided on the SURGE operation.

We can do the same.

a. Presently there are about 10,000 foot soldiers in the North East. Over the next 90 days, we can increase this to 30,000. This will militarily saturate the theatre of war with a potential to smoke out the insurgents.

b. From my limited knowledge of military engagements, I observed that the air force is a very effective combatant arm in this forests based guerilla attack modeled operation of the Boko Haram. We obviously do not have the air capability we need to effectively decimate the ‘hide outs’ of the insurgents. We also do not have the time or the money to acquire them.

However, we can approach the French to lease fighter jets under acceptable terms. It is not any national shame or dishonor. If the war in North East were to be in Europe, the western allies would have come together, combine their forces and deal with the situation.

c. Let government put a lot of money on harnessing ground intelligence by recruiting and deploying more members of the civilian JTF.

d. Finally, a re-awakening and re-invigorating of regional military cooperation in the region will be of a tremendous help.

Not much of this has been heard of since your government came into power.

Nigeria can fight, but cannot win this war alone without the cooperation of its neighbours.

2. INFRASTRUCTURE.
This administration has a maximum of 16-18 months of rain free period for active construction.

Government must carefully select 1 or 2 major road projects that can be completed within the next 18 months in each zone.

In the South West, Lagos-Ibadan expressway is the star project and it can be completed within 18 months. In terms of funding, government may either borrow or revert urgently to the financial model of PPP that existed prior to your administration’s takeover.

The East West road can also be completed, while the work on the 2nd Niger Bridge can be more seriously attended to.

Similar projects in the 3 zones in the North can also be identified and executed within this same period.

3. POWER.
The nation has an installed capacity of 10,000MW; FACT. We presently avail ourselves between 2000-6000MW depending on gas supply situation and grid transmission stability.

The time left is not enough to procure more generating potentials. What will be expedient will be:

a. To do everything possible to attain our potential of generating and distributing 10,000MW.

b. To urgently attend to the archaic and decaying transmission infrastructure which itself may not be able to handle the 10,000MW if fully deployed. This is also achievable.

4. Enact policies that do not require government’s commitments, efforts or financing, but that will ease the life of the citizens.
These policies will cover such areas as education, health, power, commerce and industry. For example, we can add up to 5000MW to the national grid just by changing the PPP licensing policy.

Let the NERC increase from 1MW to 5MW the categories of private power producers who will not require licensing.

Also the burden of financing the health sector of the nation can be reduced by a new policy that expands the scope of the NHIS.

Lastly, life can be made easier for parents and students in the universities, by the establishment of an education bank that gives loans secured by future certificate of students, for tuition, books and feeding while in school and many more.

5. Socio-Political Considerations
Your Excellency, you are an elder statesman and a father of the nation. Father to the GOOD and father to the BAD. There are socio-political inequalities and injustices in this nation. To ignore them or use force to suppress them will not help. History shows that when agitations are real and genuine, it is just a matter of time, they will eventually be resolved; either positively or negatively to the detriment of the nation.

Biafra, restructuring, devolution of power, resource control, etc are like chloroquine tablets or dongoyaro. They are bitter but they need to be swallowed if one must treat the debilitating illness called MALARIA.

Government must therefore listen and dialogue with agitators, dissenters, the civil societies and aggrieved geopolitical groups. There are genuine fears corroborated by clinically evident actions and inactions of government and/or its agencies that need to be addressed.

Some of these issues may be difficult for you to handle in your present state of health, but human resources abound with you to assist in discharging such onerous responsibilities. Your vice is able, intelligent and vibrant. There are former presidents, leaders and respectable statesmen, who can traverse the length and breadth of the country on your behalf to handle intricate situations.

Lastly, Mr President, if you must leave an ending legacy for yourself and your administration, you will have to increase and widen the scope of your consultations nationally and be prepared to adopt and employ new approaches in this rapidly changing world.

I pray the almighty God will grant you good health and strength to serve your country and its people.

I wish you well.
