The Chief Medical Director of the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital in Edo state has been released by his abductors this morning.

Reaffirming if it was true the press had an interview with the Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Mohammed Danmallam who confirmed the news as true to the press.

The Chief Medical Director, Okogbenin Sylvanus was earlier abducted about a week ago by unknown gunmen in Ikpoba Hill beside a park know as Ramat Park.

Police Officers of the Nigeria Police dispersed a lot of people outside the Bauchi governorship election tribunal in Bauchi, Bauchi State.

The teargas dispersed by the Police officers forced everyone within and around the premises to cover delicate parts of their bodies to protect them from the adverse effect of the tear gas. Reports was also gathered by the press that the Police Officers in the state fired teargas due to the unruly crowd outside the tribunal moments after sitting had resumed.

It was also heard of that there a mild disapproval leading to a protest commenced after the Governor of Bauchi State, Governor Mohammed Bala who performed as the first respondent in the situation between the ex-governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar and himself, left the tribunal. The factions of the former governor of the state had hauled verbal assault as a fight broke out among the crowd0. Following the disagreement, the Police Officers at the tribunal fired teargas in order to disperse the crowd with the intention to stop the fight.

The South African government have publicly repudiated reports reaching them that South African citizens are carrying out Xenophobic attacks on Nigerians residing with them for no reason.

Speaking to the media briefly after a meeting with Onyeama, Bobby Monroe who is South Africa’s High Commissioner to Nigeria mentioned that the latest attacks on Nigerians were not ''xenophobic'' in nature but are fairly mere ‘sporadic acts of violence’ by criminals.

Bobby Monroe made this known to the public when he met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, Onyeama Geoffrey, in FCT earlier today. Bobby Monroe also earlier stated that the businesses belonging to other South Africans were also affected in the violence acts that erupted yesterday.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police and Commander of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Intelligence Response Team, Abba Kyari has revealed that many criminals in the country are richer than policemen.

Igbere TV reports that Kyari also said that these criminals are sponsoring lies against the Nigerian police.

Kyari made this known while speaking with journalist.

According to him, “My advice is that the criminals should repent, become good citizens, do legitimate business and earn their living. They should know that there is no way they can be committing crimes and go free; we will not relent, we will get them and we will not forget.

“We know that these criminals are also not happy with us and what we have been doing. Some of them have been sponsoring lies against us. But it is normal; whenever you are fighting crime, they will fight back. These criminals have money and what it takes; they are even richer than us. They use the money to sponsor the publication of lies without even crosschecking whether it is true or not.

“This is our country; we don’t have any other country other than Nigeria. So when somebody brings lies against somebody, you investigate it to know whether it is the truth or not before you publish it; that is what we are recommending for our friends in the media.”

At Redeemed Christian Church of God, the Glory Tabernacle parish, Ijapo Estate in Akure, Ondo State, there was an incidence when Justice Omoleye, a presiding judge of the Court of Appeal, confronted the parishioner of the church over its noisy “religious activities” going on.


From a report by Saharareporters, Justice Omoleye, posessing a stick in her hand, invaded the Church, in company of her security guard and allegedly assaulted some of its worshipers on Wednesday leading to the injury of many.



The incident occurred during the church’s weekly programme called the Divine Encounter. Saying what happened, an eyewitness said the judge dashed into the church’s building and began to film the congregation’s activities.



The source said: “This woman (Justice Omoleye) entered into our church alongside her security guard and she began to record a video of the worshipers with her mobile phone. Immediately, one of the presiding pastors saw her and went to inquire why was she filming congregational worshipers in the church. But she replied that she was on the church premises to record the activites of the worshipers as they always disturbed her peace. I noticed that the pastor was really not comfortable with her action but gave her the go-ahead to record the programme since it is a church.
“But as a result of her action, many of the worshipers who attended the programme could not concentrate. And all of us was wondering what she was up to with the filming as she was busy recording our faces with her mobile phone. Just imagine, this woman stayed in the church and waited from 10 am when the programme started till 12 noon and busy filming the activity.



“She waited until the church was about to end its programme and again started to record the worshipers who were coming out of the church. The woman intentionally disrupted the church’s programme because she complained too much that we disturbed her peace with activities of the church.”



According to the source, one of the pastors challenged Justice Omoleye when she discovered that the judge was recording the church’s activities on her mobile phone. “The Assistant Pastor, Akindunjoye, who is 68 years old was coming out of the church covering her face with her bag and asked the judge why she was recording her face and the people in the House of God. But she replied that she had recorded everybody because the church is a fake one while those worshiping in the place are all evil people. Later, she attacked our pastor and slapped her repeatedly on her face and the pastor fell on the floor with blood gushing out of her mouth. We had to rush her to a hospital,” he disclosed.



He explained that Justice Omoleye had complained about the disturbance caused by the church during its weekly programme and had attempted in the past to have the church relocated.



Awoyelu said: “It is true, the woman came into the church today and started filming with her mobile phone all those in the congregation who were worshiping. “We did allow her to film because this is a House of God but she began to act unseemly at the end of the programme. Some of our church members had to challenge her on the reason why she had to start filming their faces again even after the programme. Instead, she armed herself with a big stick, chasing and attacking people in the church.



The Ondo State Police Command said it could not comment on the issue as it had received no report regarding the incident.
