A mentally challeneged woman carrying a huge amount of money which made her a target, has been reunited with her family after police officers from Ekpan Police Divisional Headquarters in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, came to her aid.

The Police led by the Divisional Police Officer SP Ibok Asanaenyi, recovered N200k from the mentally challenged woman identified as Miss Regina Micah, which hoodlums in the community tried to snatch from her.

Handing over the recovered sum to the family of Regina said to be an indigene of Kiagbodo community in the state, the DPO instructed that the money should be deposited into a bank account for her upkeep. He also promised to always monitor it to ensure it is judiciously and prudently used for her.

Seun Onigbinde has stated that his resignation from the Buhari-led administration had nothing to do with the attacks he received online following his appointment.

Onigbinde, the Co-founder of BudgIT, yesterday announced his resignation as the Technical Adviser to the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Clem Agba. His resignation came after his appointment was greeted with shock and disapproval by Nigerians. Many felt he should never take an appointment with the same government his has openly criticised and worked against.

A 17-year-old girl identified as Aisha living in Albarkawa area in Gusau metropolis in Zamfara state on Sunday August 8, set her self ablaze owing to her fiance’s inability to marry her due to his poor finances. Aisha’s neighbour told Daily Trust that she decided to commit suicide after she learnt that her fiance who dated her for quite a long time has no money to pay for dowry in preparation for her wedding.

He said her lover called Umar was asked by her parent to present himself to her family for the marital engagement but the young man told her parent that he was not financially well off to pay for the N17,000 as dowry demanded by the father of the girl.

“She brought a gallon of petrol and a matchbox. She got her self drenched in the petrol and struck a match stick and within a second she got engulfed in flames.Even before setting her self ablaze, her younger sister had tried hard to stop her from taking the dangerous decision by flinging the matchbox from her hand as any time she attempted to strike the matches the younger sister would stop her until when she became tired of stopping and went away.”

NairaBet CEO, Akin Alabi lost his father in the early hours of today September 6th. Chief Adediran Alabi, father of the lawmaker representing Egbeda/Ona Ara federal constituency at the National Assembly, died at the age of 85.

Akin Alabi shared the sad news this morning on Twitter. He wrote;

Ekpo Masquerades reportedly attacked the City of Living Grace Chapel, in Idu Uruan, Uruan local government area, Akwa Ibom State, and destroyed the church’s properties, beat up some members and stole the phones of others.

It was gathered that the masquerades, who were purportedly grieved that the pastor of the Church, Apostle Emmanuel Etim, had repeatedly preached against the practice of terrorising the citizens during the Ekpo masquerade festival, were led by a group of touts to attack the Church.
