The word gospel means Good news. Gospel music means good news Music. Gospel music actually started as inspiration music, any music that brought inspiration and its lyrics was inspiration, it was considered gospel. Some people just use terms without knowing it. If it is what God has done and praising God in every situation, then it is gospel. It the music is talking about life and how you can make it, it is infact gospel.
