Culture / The importance of August 15th. by naijagalnxtdoor: 12:03am On Aug 15, 2016 |
Today 15th August is ji Mbaise (new yam festival). The Mbaise people come from Imo state in the Eastern part of Nigeria. Every August 15, the Mbaise people celebrate the iri ji Mbaise. Of all crops in Igbo land, yam is king and most revered. Today, we thank Chukwu Olisa (the creator) for blessing us with good harvest and offer prayers to him for better ones in the seasons to come. The name “Mbaise” was derived from the five cities that make up the region namely: Agbaaja , Ahiara , Ekwereazu , Ezi na Ihite and Oke Uvuru . The areas of Mbaise (the three Local Government Areas) are about 404 km²: Aboh Mbaise (185 km²), Ahiazu Mbaise (111 km²), Ezinihitte Mbaise (108 km²). In the area of religion, the people are firmly rooted with about 90% of them as Catholics while the remaining 10% are Protestants and other religions. As lovers of the African culture and tradition the Mbaise people hold their culture in high esteem as can be seen in their disposition in celebrating the Iri ji Mbaise (the annual yam festival) by thanking the yam god . However, in recent times, it has taken mo With the advent of Christianity, the new yam is celebrated with thanksgiving to God for his blessings and the people celebrate by eating yam in different manners (roasted yam, yam pepper soup with chicken, or eaten with fresh pepper and oil). Mbaise people have so embraced Christianity that it has given the highest number of its sons to the priesthood in the whole world. We roll like that. People are usually afraid of us because they say we are too smart and cunning. Regardless, the Mbaise people have continued to thrive in all endeavours. We are peace loving people and love our fellow human beings as we love ourselves. Please put aside the single story (remember Chimamanda's lecture) you have of us today and celebrate with us. Look around you, you will see Mbaise people around. Put aside the fear and embrace us with love. Start by showing love to this post. I love you all. 1 Like

Food / How To Drink Garri This Lassa Fever Season by naijagalnxtdoor: 2:14pm On Feb 03, 2016 |
I have discovered a way to drink Garri this Lassa season. 1. Put the garri in a dry frying pan/pot. 2. Place it on the fire and allow it to fry for 10mins so that the heat will kill the Lassa virus. 3. Pour the garri out on a wide tray & allow it to get cold. Make sure ur eyes are on the garri to avoid the virus coming back cos if it does hmmmm, e go worse pass the 1st tym oh. 4. Put the garri on a plate and add the necessary (sugar, salt, glucose, powder, honey, milk, Milo, groundnut, aki, water etc). This is strictly based on ur choice but if u want to add all, no problem. Then ur delicious and tasty drinking garri is ready for consumption... Thank me later... |

Jokes Etc / New Ways Of Preventing Lassa Fever by naijagalnxtdoor: 7:22pm On Jan 18, 2016 |
Saw this on Facebook Folks, we need to treat this Lassa fever issue very seriously before it gets out of hand. We need to take preventive measures to ensure that it does not spread further. I understand that it is caused by RATS. Therefore as part of my own preventive measures, in the meantime I will no longer accept friendship requests or have anything to do with anyone bearing BasiRAT, KudiRAT, KubuRAT, KabiRAT, SikiRAT, ShakiRAT, MuniRAT, etc. Please do not be upset with me. I am just trying to be careful and safe. I advice you do the same. |
