Romance / What's Your Story? by Naijagirlwrites: 9:17pm On Jul 03, 2016
Stories have always been a medium to educate and entertain.
This is because, “once you allow yourself to identify with the people in a story, then you might begin to see yourself in that story even if on the surface it’s far removed from your situation.” – Chinua Achebe.

If you were asked to narrate or write your story what type would it be? Does your story inspire, engage or discourage, is it based on experiences you have had and that which you are eager to pursue. “Stories can conquer fear, you know. They can make the heart bigger.” – Ben Okri.

Everyone has a story to tell, your next door neighbour, the shop assistant and the old lady you always say hi to on your way to work. I was sitting four seats opposite a lady in a bus, who was crying her eyes out and I could not help but wonder what her story was. Has your story defined who you are or how you view things?
In interviews you are most likely to be asked, tell me about yourself or what makes you unique? Your story could be based on different chapters of your life; professional and personal. Our best stories are those that have impacted more in our lives and usually have a sacred place in our hearts.

“There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you.” – Maya Angelou. Telling our story makes us accept who we are. Your story could save a soul, inspire or make the world a better place. Is your story similar to that of Arya of the house of Stark? Go on share your story

Politics / The Problem With Nigeria by Naijagirlwrites: 6:58pm On Jun 13, 2016
The problem with Nigeria is not a problem at all. It is the perception of problems that hurts us more. When unlike me I chose the one-stop Arik Air flight, I hoped it would be better than the Ethiopian counterparts who took me to Addis-Ababa and in the same bid allowed many compatriots to board. Merchants from China and Dubai had successfully turned the air vessel to an Aero-club on that occasion.

As the announcer mentioned that our plane was ready for boarding, my brethren scampered to queue. That was perfectly normal. We love to contest for everything. I supposed that everyone knew his designated seat number and that having come this far, we were all sure to get on board and we all did.

I don't understand many things about Nigeria. And it puzzles me how we treat ourselves so poorly. Meanwhile I walk down the aisle of a plane that looks like a fairly abused hotel room and my mind is biased immediately. We cannot continue to buy or fly Naija so we can grow the Naira. Not when the Naira is rapidly growing out of control at 375/dollar. Not when the corners of the plane seats have grease stains and pockets of dirt are 'smartly ' hidden between seat edges. Please continue at https://naijagirlwrites..co.uk/2016/06/the-problem-with-nigeria.html#more

Romance / Re: Kojo Prince: Why I Love Abena, My Fat Fiancee by Naijagirlwrites: 5:33pm On Jun 07, 2016
why is there so much pressure on the appearance/image of women? Why should there be societal ideas on what “beauty” is? And why should we be judged on how we look? Let us all learn to love ourselves in whatever shape or form we are in. https://naijagirlwrites..co.uk/
Romance / Relationship Matters by Naijagirlwrites: 2:44pm On Jun 02, 2016
Would you date a single dad/mum? Please think well o before you answer, some people have claimed they would never and end up doing so. Let us all bear in mind that a child is a beautiful gift and being a single mum or dad does not make one un-dateable or unmarriageable.

Travel / Returning To Naija? Culture Shock, And Personal Struggles. by Naijagirlwrites: 4:45pm On May 08, 2016
If you are returning to Nigeria after spending some time in another country, particularly a developed one, be prepared for the reverse culture shock which will surely hit you.
First of all, a lot of people will dodge you because they perceive that you are here to ask them for a job. Ha! Then there are these fun points to consider.

1. There is no constant and consistent electricity supply. Be prepared for power cuts and excruciating heat. For example, last night, I spent the night hugging a coke bottle in a bid to cool off and get some sleep. Carry your phone charger around and be prepared to charge it in your car, in restaurants, at work, even in church. Water supply is also a luxury, the city mains in Nigerian cities and towns barely work. People have taken laws into their hands and have what we call bore hole, which is a deep well with a water pump that distributes water to the entire house.

2. You must have two phone sim cards because you see, one network will shut down, and you will miss that job interview. You will also miss that contract you have been sowing for. Equally important is the purchase of 2 different internet sources, don’t believe the adverts on billboards. Some poor naive JJC actually believed something about one provider and bought their modem because of an advert hahaha. A word is enough for the wise.

3. God bless you, or we thank God, or God is faithful, does not mean that man is good or that woman should run your business. People pray to God and rob you at the same time. Religion in Nigeria does not translate into goodness. Don’t be deceived.

Politics / Re: Why Is Enugu Attack Been Taken More Seriously Than Agatu by Naijagirlwrites: 11:15pm On May 03, 2016
It is because of the existing mutual distrust amongst the major ethnic groups. http://naijagirlwrites..co.uk/
Politics / Good Old Days by Naijagirlwrites: 5:14pm On May 03, 2016
If you are residing/have resided in Nigeria or living/lived with your Naija relatives, you would have heard the term the “good old days” in reference to Nigeria or even witnessed it.

The good old days when citizens were sure of good basic amenities, when our universities were on par with universities in the west. When graduates were assured of a job after graduation. When things were ridiculously cheap and a flight outside Naija was like 200 naira or so. When we were not so reliant on generators or neighbourhood security. When you can build your house without the extra worries of digging a bore hole. When our farmers can go to their farms without the fear of being killed. When you can travel to your village without the fear of being kidnapped or killed off due to religious fanaticism. When you can boast out loud I AM FROM NIGERIA.

In lieu of the above, which of the things listed below is one thing Nigeria really needs or what is the way forward for us? Note I did not mention corruption because corruption is inherent in all societies.
1. Security
2. Power generation
3. Good roads
4. Health facilities
5. Fuel, diesel and gas supply
6. Education and health facilities
7. Diversification
8. Economic empowerment

Politics / Re: ENUGU MASSACRE: Northern Govs Under Fire… For Defending Fulani by Naijagirlwrites: 12:23pm On May 02, 2016
While we are it, we should note that conflicts of this nature has led to mutual distrust, that threatens the security of the the people, property and country. The state has the responsibility to safeguard its citizen's lives, property, human rights etc. and should employ policies that will clamp down on any form of perceived threat against its citizens. http://naijagirlwrites..co.uk/
