Politics / Tension As National Assembly Gets 14days Ultimatum Removal From Office by naijaloudmouth: 9:42am On Jan 04, 2017
Mass protests will be held by Nigerians from all walks of life if the National Assembly does not remove Ekiti state governor Ayodele Fayose from office in 14 days
This threat was issued by a group of civil society organisations under the umbrella of Coalition for Good Governance and Anti-Corruption

The group's national secretary Audu Joseph said it turned to National Assembly for Fayose's removal because the Ekiti state assembly has been compromised
The group said it wants Fayose's removal because of many allegations of corruption and criminal conduct against the governor
A group of civil society organisations under the umbrella of Coalition for Good Governance and Anti-Corruption has urged the National Assembly to remove Ekiti state governor Ayodele Fayose and prosecute him for abuse of office.
The group made the call at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday, January 3 and noted that the Assembly has 14 days to do the job or face nationwide protest.\
National Secretary of the coalition Audu Joseph said the group was making its call because of the several allegations of monumental corruption and criminal conduct against the Ekiti state governor.

Joseph noted that the group turned to the National Assembly because the Ekiti state assembly was compromised and none of its members would institute impeachment proceedings against the governor.

He said: “This is proof that the Ekiti State House of Assembly can no longer perform its functions and the National Assembly should consider taking over those functions to ensure that the needful is done.
“To the National Assembly, we demand that a declaration of the doctrine of necessity to waive Fayose’s immunity is non-negotiable at this point such that people enjoying immunity can be allowed to answer to criminal charges like the current situation where security funds were embezzled and millions of Nigerians including the armed forces had to pay the supreme price.”

Joseph added: “In the last quarter of 2016, details emerged of how N4.7 billion naira being part of the stolen $2.1 billion meant for arms purchase found its way into Ayo Fayose’s Zenith bank account after the money was ferried across the country in a private jet and bullion vans, according to Obanikoro’s testimony after he turned himself in to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

“Just a few days ago, on December 29, 2016 another audio surfaced of Fayose with his partner in crime, Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, in which both men discussed without remorse, about how they compromised the December 10 legislative election re-run in Rivers state.

“Not once did either of them acknowledge the magnitude of the crime committed, which included the murder of some policemen in addition to the now habitual sabotaging of the wishes of the electorates.”
Joseph disclosed that the coalition has 34 Civil Society organizations backing it. These CSOs it notes are ready to mobilize their members and other Nigerians for a massive protest if Fayose is not removed by the National Assembly within the period it stipulated.

The group's demand comes just as Governor Fayose's wife rained curses on the enemies of her husband.

Speaking during the year’s edition of inter-religious thanksgiving service in the state, Feyisetan said it was high time for some enemies pretending to be friends be exposed

Feyisetan Fayose said all the wolves in sheep clothing working against her husband’s administration will be doomed.

Celebrities / Linda Ikeji Social (LIS) Featured On CNN by naijaloudmouth: 5:36pm On Nov 07, 2016
New social networking site www. just got a feature on CNN. Yay! Read the article below...
Love her or not, she's one of Africa's most famous news and gossip writers. Now she's hoping to take on Facebook with her very own social network, which she says hit 50,000 sign-ups on the first day.
Linda Ikeji, a former model from Lagos, Nigeria, says her social network, LIS (Linda Ikeji Social) has something others lack: a one-stop shop for everything online.

"About 30-40 million Nigerians are now online, and they go through so many sites," Ikeji told CNN.
"They go to Facebook for connecting with friends. They come to my blog to read the news. They buy and sell things and go to places like Nairaland where they exchange opinions."
Just six days in, the network has 86,000 followers. Within the next five years, Ikeji said she hopes to be the new Facebook.

"Facebook is my competition," said the businesswoman, who is famous for her tabloid reporting, which many have criticized for promoting gossip and lacking in credibility.

In 2014 her blog came under scrutiny amidst allegations of plagiarism and unfair usage of images which led to the blogging platform Blogger, run by Google, temporarily taking her website offline.
Paying the popular
Apart from her controversial ways, she differs from Facebook in another major way, however. Her plan is to pay people who gain a lot of followers on the site.
"Once they have 50,000 followers on their page, we will automatically start monetizing it. That means we will put our client's banners on the page and pay you a commission from what they pay us."

The cash incentives are paid out to the so-called 'wallet' -- a section on the network where people add their bank account details.

It remains to be seen if anyone will hit that high. For now, she will pay out a weekly share of her advertising revenue to the most popular accounts, she says.

"Next week we are putting N20,000 ($63) each into 50 people's wallets," Ikeji said.

The network also plans to pay users N8,000 (around $25) for original news content.
The aim of the business is to give back to the online community.

The strategy could mean good money for users, and the social network who gets help with attracting people to sign-up. A win win, she explains.

Politics / President Buhari Confess That He Almost Resigned My Position As President by naijaloudmouth: 4:51pm On Nov 03, 2016
President Muhammadu Buhari says he felt like “absconding” after seeing the enormity of the challenges facing the country when he assumed office, The president says he was bewildered to notice there was nothing was left for him to start off his administration

President Muhammadu Buhari after seeing the enormity of the challenges facing the country when he assumed office in May 2015 said he felt like “absconding”, The Cable reports. The president said he was utterly bewildered to notice that despite the rising cost of crude oil from which Nigeria made a fortune, nothing was left for him to start off his administration. Speaking on Thursday, November 3, during a parley with participants of the Senior Executive Course 38 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPPS) at the state house in Abuja, President Buhari blamed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Nigeria’s economic woes.

President Buhari said: “For 16 years and eight consecutive governments of the other party… there was unprecedented revenue realised, the oil projection which can be verified was 2.1 million barrels per day. From 1999-2015 the average cost of each Nigerian barrel of oil was $100 per barrel.
“When we came it fell to less than $30 per barrel and is now between 40 and 50. Actually I felt like absconding because 27 out of 36 states in Nigeria cannot pay salaries and and we know they have no other source than to depend on salaries.” President Buhari defeated former President, Goodluck Jonathan by 15.4m votes to 12.9m votes in Nigeria’s national election adjudged globally to be free and fair. He became the first opposition figure to win a presidential election in Nigeria since independence in 1960. A former military ruler, President Buhari said he is a convert to democracy and would do everything within his power to unite the country.

As I speak with you, the negotiation committee has not even taken off, but what I was informed two days ago, is that the process has been ongoing at different levels, because there are various people driving the process.”
“Based on his submission, ‎the Labour leaders met on Monday, October 31st, to finalize their position, preparatory to their meeting with the government team today.
“They will then meet with the government side tomorrow (Tuesday). They want to tidy up the report, including the membership of the team, that is supposed to negotiate the minimum wage,” Wabba said. While lamenting that ‎the sitting of the committee had dragged for too long, and that a lot of time had been lost in the process; further compounding the situation, Wabba disclosed that, “Workers are on daily basis being exposed (to high cost of living), and the purchasing power is going down, especially with the issue of the exchange rate.” He added: “They will be meeting tomorrow (Tuesday), and they are also trying to round off, because they said they wanted the report to then go to the Presidency for formal approval, because at the end of the day, the President must be involved. Politics / Buhari’s Nominee For NERC Chairman Reportedly Turns Down Offer, Says He Wasn't C by naijaloudmouth: 9:44am On Oct 26, 2016
President Buhari's nominee for chairman of the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) Prof. Akintunde Akinwande, has reportedly turned down his nomination. Akinwande who was billed to appear before the senate for screening and confirmation yesterday, failed to show up.

A source who spoke to the Nation said Akinwande turned down the nomination “because he was not consulted before the nomination was made”.

The source added that he was currently working on a project at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US and is not likely to take a break from the project. Akinwande was the only nominee absent at the screening of nominees for the board of the NERC.

“We also learnt that enough consultation was not made before the man was nominated. We were informed that the nominee may have turned down his nomination,” the source said. Addressing the press after the suspension of the screening exercise, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe said there was no way the senate can conduct any screening without that of the chairman-designate.

“Regrettably, when members of the committee assembled to screen the nominees made by President Muhammadu Buhari, we were told that the chairman designate was unavoidably absent. The Presidential liaison who brought the nominees informed us that the chairman was unavoidably absent. The commission is vital and cannot function without a chairman. We cannot screen them until we have a formal communication from the Presidency”. Other nominees for the board appointment included Sanusi Garuba (Vice Chairman), Nathan R. Shatti (commissioner), Dr. Moses Arigu (commissioner), Dafe C. Akpeneye (commissioner), Prof. Frank Okafor(commissioner) and Musiliu O. Oseni(commissioner).

Politics / Femi Fani-kayode Slumps In EFCC Custody: We Fear For His Life - Aide by naijaloudmouth: 9:53pm On Oct 24, 2016
Read the press statement today...

When Chief Femi Fani-Kayode was rearrested on Friday, 21st of October, 2016, in the premises of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos, we raised a number of issues which included that the re-arrest was not only unnecessary but that it was also reckless.

We made known our fears that Fani-Kayode’s life was in dire danger as long as he remained in EFCC custody or in the custody of any agency of the federal government based on discreet information available to us. This is apart from the fact that his health has been badly affected since his incarceration for a whopping 67 days based on some questionable ‘detention orders’. This fact is well known to the EFCC as Fani-Kayode’s lawyers have written several letters to the Commission reminding them of the health conditions of the former minister of aviation (Kindly see attached).
It is therefore shocking that having known these facts, the EFCC still acted in a most unprofessional and crude way by re-arresting a man who has never been known to turn down their invitation even for once, who was since granted administrative bail by the same Commission after meeting the stringent conditions set by them; a man who is also supposed to be on bail as granted by the courts after fulfilling the conditions, and who even has his international passport still lodged with the Commission.
Although Chief Femi Fani-Kayode was yet to complete the recovery therapy he was undergoing after spending the initial 67 grueling days in EFCC custody wherein he was also physically attacked by one of the Commission’s agents, in deference to the law and the Commission, he painfully but willingly cut short his therapy and medical checks to attend court proceedings.
One would have thought that these were enough to convince EFCC that Fani-Kayode was very willing to face his persecutors in court. But rather than be humane in their conduct, EFCC hounded him for the umpteenth time on that fateful Friday and have since kept him in custody.
It is therefore little wonder that based on the history of his medical conditions which the Commission is very much aware of, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode slumped while in detention on Saturday, 22nd of October, 2016.
But for the quick and professional intervention of the medical team in the EFCC medical facilities, the story could have been different, it could have been fatal!
We must commend the medical staff at the Commission’s medical facility. They were prompt in their response, and very impressive in their care. It is very heartwarming to know that some professionals have not allowed the political witch hunt and persecution of political opponents and perceived enemies taint their professional calling. We hope this extends to all facets of the Nigerian society.
Nigerians would recall that we had earlier raised the alarm about the danger in which Fani-Kayode’s life is right now; we are shocked that that danger rather than ebb away is becoming a reality slowly but steadily. If not, why re-arrest and keep him in detention when he has not failed to appear before the Commission or even before the courts at any time, neither has he ever been declared wanted?
The fresh charges for which he was said to have been re-arrested were presented to him over the weekend and they border on an alleged N26m which he was accused to have collected from the erstwhile NSA, Sambo Dasuki, and he has since signed for the charges while he waits for his day in court. So, why still detain him if there is no sinister motive behind it all?
From the foregoing, it is obvious that this issue about corruption is nothing but an already exposed façade for the silencing of opposition voices, and keep Fani-Kayode out of circulation as long as practicable since he is seen by many as one of the strongest voices against tyranny, oppression and executive lawlessness.
For the avoidance of doubt, we reiterate our earlier warning that nothing untoward must happen to Chief Femi Fani-Kayode whether now or in the nearest future. Should anything happen to him, we can assure those responsible that there would be reactions of unimaginable propensity.
It is not all sacrifices that the gods accept. There are some sacrifices that even oracles reject for fear of untamable repercussions!
Nigerians are watching and waiting!

3. It Pays to invest in your growth
Sometimes to get to the next level, one has to spend time investing in ones personal development. After quitting her job, Alakija decided to study fashion to learn the trade and get qualified as a designer before becoming one of the leading fashion houses of her time.

4. You need to break out to break even!
Alakija won a fashion competition, which was the beginning of her breakthrough for her fashion label. That competition gave her national recognition and helped her to attract more customers.

5. Be vigilant, you never know when an opportunity is around the corner.
A chance meeting with an old friend on a flight to the UK was all Alkaija needed to start thinking about the oil sector which now accounts for her $1.82 billion fortune. Next time you are in a Buka hut, think consider who might be holding your next big break.

6. No is never good enough!
Alakija initially had a number of rejections when she was looking to break into the competitive industry but each time she did more homework and went right back. Her persistence beat the resistance of the then oil minister who eventually awarded her the oil license.

7. Partnership is Key
As a business owner you may not be able to do everything on your own. Your ability to find the right type of partners to help you achieve your end goal will determine how effective you are as an organization. Alakija found technical partners before applying for her oil license giving her a much stronger chance of succeeding

1.8. Time is an important factor of success
It took Alakija three years to get her oil licence and another three years to get a new set of technical partners to begin work. As an entrepreneur, your ability to succeed sometimes greatly depends on how resilient you are in waiting for your break through.

9. Sometimes a big break will look like a stumbling block
It is not all big breaks that look glamorous. Sometimes a break can be disguised as a barrier. When Alakija was awarded her oil block, it was one of the worst because it was deep offshore and there was no technology that had been developed to explore 5000 feet below sea level. But she still saw the opportunity and overcame the challenges.

10. Always expect the unexpected
After finally securing the oil block and finally reaping the rewards, Alakija had to now fight the government of the day who decided to back into their contract and take 40% of their 60% stake in the oil business. In business it is always prudent to prepare for the worst.

11. Know who your true friends are
When Alakija was in trouble with the government, they went knocking on several doors for help but nobody would help them. According to her, they suddenly became the plague with friends they had known for years all ignoring their phone calls.

12. When you have nothing to lose, choose to fight back.
Alakija and her family felt that they had everything to gain if they fought the government and won. At the time, everybody wrote the company off assuming the worst for the fledgling business. In the end, that risk paid off and they won.

13. You will not win every battle but you will win the war
Alakija’s battle with the government took 12 years and there were a lot of motions that were lost in court but at the end, her tenacity meant that they eventually came out as the victors in this battle.

14. Sign on the dotted line
Alakija had signed a contract with the government allowing them to back into the contract provided certain criteria were met. The government ignored the terms of the contract, which made their acquisition of the oil block void. In business, always have terms agreed and documented to avoid discrepancies.

15.Business has no Gender

Success in business is not the exclusive preserve of any gender but rather hard work and perseverance. Folorunsho Alakija is the only prominent female tycoon in the competitive male dominated oil industry proving that you can achieve anything you put your mind to.
