As a mechanical engineering student, tbh in the 4 yrs i've spent in school so far i dont think i've learnt much.
The mentality of both the students and lecturers here is 'cram and get good grades'.
The lecturers even endorse this.
We cram mathematics,cram calculations,cram everything.No practical works.
All we do is cram !!!
Cram to pass a course, even if it means forgetting everything u crammed hours after the exam.
Right now I'm not depending on school for knowledge,
I'm learning on my own, because depending on school is just a waste of time.

Uche skillful ?.lol.
Those saying uche is the most skillful nigerian haven't watched uche in about 5 yrs.
Uche in his younger years was fast and had some skills.
,but in the past 2-3yrs he has been more of a box-18 striker who is only good at scoring goals from close range.......nothing more.

SportsNigerians In The UCL:-Ahmed Musa With An Assist,Obasi With A Goal And Assist by naijanoni(op):
Nigerian Forward Ahmed Musa continued his recent run of superb form by providing a fine assist for CSKA's first goal(scored by seydou doumbia) as the russian champions came from 2 goals down to draw 2-2 against English champions Manchester city.
Musa was rated the Man-Of-the-match by various sites.
Chinedu obasi on the other hand also produced a MOTM performance in Schalke 04's 4-3 win over Sporting Lisbon.
Obasi headed home the 1st goal in the 34th minute from a Denis Aogo cross.
Obasi then turned provider for Schalke's 2nd goal as his precise pass set up Huntelaar on the 51st minute.
John Obi Mikel wasn't listed for chelsea in their 6-0 win over Maribor.
The 27yr old midfielder is still nursing a foot injury.
Anglo-nigerian striker Dominic Solanke made his champions league debut for chelsea, replacing oscar in the 69th minute.Having represented england at U/17 level,
17yrs Old Solanke is still eligible to play for nigeria.

On-loan chelsea forward bertrand traore extended the lead at the stroke of half-time.
Willem pulled one back on the 57th minute through Ben sahar.
But two late goals from Denis Olynik and abiola dauda destroyed any hope of the home side coming back.
Vitesse currently sit on 6th position on the eredivisie table.

SportsRe: Amodu's First Eleven - What Would It Look Like? by naijanoni(m): 6:16pm On Oct 17, 2014
Amodu used a 4-4-2 mostly with Uche and Yakubu upfront,Mikel and Ayila/olofinjana in d middle.
Kalu uche and Utaka/odemwingie as the wingers.
Don't know wether he'll still use the same formation.During his last stint Amodu's team was good defensively.
They conceeded few.
Amodu's midfield wasn't so good.
He was once quoted saying "the midfield doesn't matter".
Thats why the 2 midfielders in his 442 were always strictly defensive(olofinjana, ayila, and sometimes mikel).
He hardly played with an attacking midfielder.
Prolly d reason for his good defensive record.
Attacking-wise,same way his team conceeded few was also the same way his team scored few.
MAJORITY of his wins were 1-0,2-0.
Keshi's team wasn't any better at scoring goals though.

Would amodu still use his same ol tactics ?.
Football generally has been evolving constantly since amodu was coach last.
Don't know if amodu has also evolved tactically.
SportsRe: Amodu's First Eleven - What Would It Look Like? by naijanoni(m): 5:10pm On Oct 17, 2014
We don't know how his 1st XI would look like.
But I don't think he'll make a lot of changes to keshi's squad, since he'll only be in charge for just 2 games.
Expect the core players of keshi's team to remain.
Don't think he'll make up to 8 changes to the 24 keshi invited for the sudan games.
Uche was his main man during his last stint.
So i expect a return of uche, obasi, and probably yussuf ayila/martins.
Would be interesting to see the new players he'll invite.

SportsRe: NFF Sack Keshi, Pick Amodu As Replacement by naijanoni(m): 5:23pm On Oct 16, 2014
arsetalks:
Let's not kid ourselves, our coaches bar maybe Oliseh and Siasia are not ready and the main reason is the sports ministry and the NFF do nothing to help this coaches.

When last did they organise clinics for them? When last were they sent on refresher courses abroad or placements at other clubs so they can learn one or two things?

How many of them have UEFA band A licenses? Let's not be sentimental about our coaches, they are simply not good enough.

Good a thing people like Di Matteo and David Moyes are currently available. They are good enough for us and can lead us to glory if we finally will allow coaches stay on the job for say 4-6 years and let them build their own teams without interference.

People will argue why the choice of Di Matteo and David Moyes. To that I say their records speak for them.

Di Matteo did a good job with West Brom with players that are a little better or simply at par with our players. He went to Chelsea a team that puts the coaches under undue pressure and took a declining team to the pinnacle of European football ( yes, he won playing football that I can't be proud of and as much as I hate Chelsea, I must say it, they achieved what my darling Arsenal hasn't been able to achieve in over 25 years of trying and it is kudos to Di Matteo).

David Moyes managed Everton above their level for many years and even qualified for the champions league. The players he had to use to achieve what he achieved with Everton are at par to what will be available for him with the eagles.

Forget what happened to him at United he had an impossible job. Many United fans will not agree but I think Moyes was deliberately used so to relieve the pressure on whoever takes over. Moyes will have Sir Alex as his yard stick ( failure for sure) and now that Moyes is sacked, Van Gaal is practically under no pressure as Sir Alex isn't his yard stick but instead Moyes.

Dennis Bergkamp is also available so also is Steve Clarke, Steve Bruce can also be convinced.

All these coaches play our type of football and they have a record of getting the best out of a tad average players.

Laurent Blanc is also available.
Gordon igesund and Kwesi appiah are also available
SportsMy Thoughts On Hope Akpan And The S.E Midfield by naijanoni(op): 7:40am On Oct 16, 2014
One of the players i really wanted to see play yesterday was hope akpan.
Before yesterday,i had only watched him play once.
That was when reading were in the EPL 2 seasons ago.
It was a game against my club chelsea.
With chelsea leading 2-0(courtsey of goals from Lampard and mata),Akpan was brought on in the 75th minute.
And Immediately,akpan changed the game.
Reading came from behind late in that game to draw the match 2-2 with akpan providing the 2 assists for reading's goals(both scored by Le fondre).

IMO he is Not a spectacular player, has little or no soccer skills(just like most english/english-bred midfielders),
but he is a player that carries out his primary role of shielding the back four and breaking the opposition's play effectively.
He is similar to the mikel at chelsea(given that he hardly crosses the centre circle),but far more hard-working,a far better tackler and
a faster version.
I think he is the kind of DM we need.Someone who is content with sitting back and shielding the back four while giving the other 2 midfielders some freedom. He also has positional discipline.
Wish opta, whoscored or squawka covered the stats for yesterday's game to show how akpan was important.
He made a lot of interceptions(Close to 10) and also some good tackles.

Keshi's tactics has been below par in previous games, but i think he did really well yesterday.

Right from our pre-world cup friendlies, through the world cup till yesterday, our midfield had always been like a basket,i.e easily penatrable.
That was because of the Mikel-Onazi double pivot.
As we all know mikel at chelsea is different from the mikel in the nigerian team.
The mikel in the nigerian team tries to be more adventurous.
In the double pivot with onazi,
Onazi is meant to be the DM with Mikel the more advanced the deep-lying play maker.
That combo was bound to be a basket because Onazi in the 1st place isn't a DM.
Onazi is a hard-working box-to-box MF that likes to move with the action(he likes to be where the action is).
If the team is attacking he attacks, and if the team is defending he defends.
He hardly sits back to shield the defence.
Onazi also is a clumsy tackler and gets dribbled easily because of his positional indiscipline.

Mikel on the other hand is too pedestrian.
In the doube pivot, his responsibiliy isnt to shield the defence or do any dirty work, but
that of a DLP,similar to Pirlo's role at Juve/Italy.
But with mikel in the double pivot,it always seemed like we were playing short of one player, because he carried out neither his primary nor secondary responsibility effectively.
That combination was always bound to fail because it leaves the MF easily penetrable.

But yesterday with the Akpan-Raheem Lawal double pivot our midfield looked more solid.
Because it was a combo of a natural/simple DM and a box-to-box MF.Both are hardworking and they complemented each other very well, unlike the Mikel-Onazi pivot where one is lazy and the other hard working.

When raheem lawal was subbed out our midfield was less solid, which allowed the sudanese to press constantly.
That was because,Akpan was now left alone to do the dirty work with nobody really assisting him,Mikel and Aluko playing more advanced(though mikel came back at times to assist).

I really think our midfield constantly need a midfielder like akpan.
An Akpan-Onazi combo would even be better.

My brother, I do not know where you are from.Maybe, one of these players you are defending is a brother of yours. Let the truth be said here that we all know the true age of a 17 yr old boy who is a street boy in Nigeria.

Most of these players are street boys before getting to the level they are today. Most 17 yr old boys in Nigeria are all still in the secondary school here in Nigeria or few just entering into the college.
Go to tHE street and ask most young boys there ages and out of ignorance, they will tell you 17 yrs 16 yrs or 18yrs and by the time you look at them, nobody can even ask these ones to come and play street football.

In fact, no need to argue with you. Keep your MRI and your so called scientific research for a machine to give you an accurate age of a person.Forget it.

The world know that we have been lying and that was why they brought this MRI in order to checkmate we Africans.
I still say it that OSAZE is the only Nigeria player with his true age.Had it been that the guy grew up in Nigeria, he will still be playing under 17 by now.
Majority of the last U/17 team graduated from secondary school last year(those that were in school).
Many of them wrote WAEC last year.
Ezeh was in SS3.
The 2nd youngest player chigozie obasi was in SS1.
Are u satisfied now ?.
I cant defend previous U/17 sets..... but garba's set ?.
Thy were truely young.
At least even if some were above 17,i dont think the oldest was above 20.

Efe ambrose and echiejile dropped.
There are surprisingly 3 defenders 4 central midfielders,1 winger and 2 centre forwards.

It could be the normal 4-3-3 with one of onazi/raheem lawal playing as d RB (Onazi has played there once for nigeria).

It could be 3-5-2 with oshaniwa,Oboabona and omeruo as defenders,Raheem lawal(or onazi) and Musa as wing-backs with Emenike and Aaron samuel upfront.
Though there's a very slim chance of keshi using the 3-5-2.

SportsRe: Nigeria Vs Sudan:probable Line Up by naijanoni(m): 7:20am On Oct 15, 2014
thegoodjoehunt3:
You can not drop Omeruo who has been our best performing defender so far.

Emenike has been terrible so far. He should not be on the strafing line up. Our biggest weakness has been in the defensive midfield position. Onazi does not like to hold the defensive midfield so Raheem Lawal who did well in the Sudan match should start. Nosa, Raheem and Mikel can for a strong possessive midfield trident. They are all strong on the ball and good passers of the ball.

We need to bring in Wing play to our game, coupled with possessive play. So we would need a formation with a compact midfield. I suggest we go with a 4-5-1 formation.

-------------------Enyeama-------------------
----------------Omeruo------Oboabona-------
--Ambrose--------------------------------Oshaniwa
---------------Lawal-----------Nosa--------------
--Aluko----------------Mikel-------------------Musa
--------------------Osaguona----------------------
Nosa was very poor against sudan IMO.
Raheem Lawal is a very decent player. He's been One of the best midfielders in the turkish league this season(Going by whoscored ratings).
He's a box-to-box MF in the mould of yaya toure.
Fast, physical presence, great dribbler and also a good passer (better than mikel).
But he is no defensive midfielder(same with onazi).
From what i've watched onazi is even a better DM than Lawal.
I tell you lawal would expose our back four more than onazi.
Both onazi and lawal are box-to-box midfielders who dont have the positional discipline of a natural DM.
Both of them thrive better when paired with a natural DM that sits back(Like mikel at chelsea).
So i suggest a 3 man midfield of Akpan-Onazi-Mikel OR Akpan-Lawal-Mikel OR Akpan-Lawal-Onazi.

i'll prefer the 3rd.............Without Mikel.

ok o i agree with you keshi is the problem, same thing we said about siasia, eguavoen, amodu, chukwu, westerhof, bora, troussier, bonfere jo and every other coach that has handled the team, they all lacked tactics too, same old story, I just hope we won't back here to complain about the tactics of the new coach too.
Aside Westerhoff,bonfre jo,siasia keshi.
I never considered the rest as good coaches.
TBH a few months ago,i was one of keshi's biggest fans here on NL.
I defended him like say him bi my papa.
But man at times we've got leave sentiments aside and say d obvious truth.
One thing with these nigerian coaches(siasia and keshi) is that they let little success get into their brain.
Immediately they achieve something,
Their pride and ego get swollen and destroys everything They struggled to build.
A lot of people say keshi won the afcon by mere LUCK,but even till now i strongly disagree with that.
Keshi's strengths has never being tactics,he has never been a great tactician(right from the time he was togo coach),his strength is his coaching mentality and sometimes, his ability to motivate and inspire players(make them kill themselves on d pitch).
Majority of The players keshi used to win the afcon were average players on paper.
One of the reasons we won the afcon was unity, harmony and great understanding between the players, and keshi was the reason for this.
But immediately after winning the afcon, keshi's pride and ego started to swell as usual,he became more arrogant and started fighting with one player after the other.
Since the afcon our team has never been as united.

Same thing happened in togo.
During the 2006 world cup qualifiers, keshi formed a united togolese team.He qualified them for the world cup.
Immediately he qualified them, his pride and ego began to swell as usual, then he started fighting with the players, the FA and everyone.
He was sacked immediately.
Keshi has always been the architect of his own downfall.

He builds something, then he destroys it himself.

Same thing with many nigerian/african coaches.

[b]unless we make drastic changes in terms of the players we field in our games by bringing in new and uncapped quality players no coach will go anywhere with the current pool of players we've been parading for the last five years even before keshi took over, we are deceiving ourselves thinking its just a coaching problem.
Did anybody select players for keshi ?
Isn't it the coach that invites the players and field the players ?.
Who is to invite the "new and uncapped quality players" ?.
THE COACH !!.
But the coach simply chose to invite some of worst players ahead of the best.
So the coach is to blame, becos he makes the decisions on who to invite and who to field.
Can u boldly say the set of players keshi has been inviting are our possible best ??.
Hell no !.Since last year the sets of players keshi has been using is nowhere near our possible best.

Which top coach in the world would invite an austrian league bench-warmer ahead of d dutch league 2nd highest goal scorer ?.
Or a norweigian league bench-warmer ahead of a la liga regular ?

TACTICS

Which top coach would continue to use exactly d same tactics over and over again even when it keeps on failing ??.

Our attack was very useless against SA.
A top coach would have learnt a few things and made one or two changes.
But keshi decided to field exactly d same team against sudan, exactly the same tactics.

We might not have world class players, but we have better players than a lot of the ones keshi has been inviting.

Players may be part of the problem, but 80 percent of the problem is from the coach.
