Education / Calling A Spade A Spade :: Jamb 2016 Cbt by Naijatalktalk(m): 8:14am On Mar 26, 2016
It is never done call a spade another name be simple and call it what it is to be called
I saw this and decided to share… please drop a comment after reading.
There has been a great deal of complaints about the 2016 CBT. The complaints being that quite a few students did not pass the exams as expected.
We live in a country where, unfortunately, students and their parents alike want the easy way out of everything:
a) They would prefer handouts to copying notes.
b) They would prefer reading short notes to reading the full novel for an exam.
c) They would prefer to hire mercenaries to pass their exams.
d) They would much rather have someone do term papers and group assignments.
In trying to find the reason for the outcry on the past 2016 JAMB CBT two main reasons are deducible.
The first reason I deduce based on the complaints is that instructions, for the most part, were not followed. As with most exams, there are instructions and we need to adhere to them throughout the exam.
The advantage of the computer test is that with the computer what you input is what you get.
In other words, the test will

The Swiss Government has confirmed that it has so far returned $723 million (about N142.43 billion) of stolen funds seized from the family of the late former Head of State, General Sani Abacha, to the Nigerian Government over the last 10 years.

Education / UNIOSUN Alumni Reject Name Change, Mulls Legal Action by Naijatalktalk(m): 8:42am On Mar 15, 2016
The alumni of the University of Osun State, UNIOSUN, located in Osogbo, the Osun state capital, Nigeria have rejected the recent renaming of the university by the State Governor, Mr. Rauf Aregbesola.
Aregbesola had renamed the institution in honour of the late Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Chief Bola Ige, during the institution's fourth and fifth combined convocation.
But the alumni declared the renaming of the institution as unwise at this point in time, urging Aregbesola to reverse the action.
They are equally considering the option of approaching a court of competent jurisdiction in the land to seek redress on the subject matter if Governor Aregbesola refuses to reverse the action.

Education / How To Secure Admission For JAMB Students Who Scored Below 150-179 by Naijatalktalk(m): 2:09pm On Mar 13, 2016
This article will guide all candidates with JAMB scores ranging from 150 to 179. We have created this thread as an eye opener to give you an idea of what that score can or cannot do for you as far as 2016/17 admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions are concerned.
As we all know JAMB has released the official cutoff mark for this year which is 180 JAMB Admission Cut-off Marks For 2016 we know from experience that scores between 150 to 179 can only gain admission into Colleges of Education and Polytechnics. The best thing to do at this moment therefore is to decide which of (1) College of Education and (2) Polytechnic is best suited for your career goals.
To be honest,NO UNIVERSITY WILL ADMIT YOUwith 150 – 179 this year. It is better to switch your most preferred institution to either Polytechnic or College of Education to enable you stand a chance for admission into ND or NCE respectively (as the case may be).
Kindly also note that while obtaining between 150 – 179 in JAMB allows you to participate in Post UTME of a College or Polytechnic, it does not give you a guarantee

Crime / My Journey Into Cultism And Hw I Lost 34 Of My Friends- Ex-cult Leader by Naijatalktalk(m): 7:25am On Dec 01, 2015
29- year- old Levi Imoter was a notorious cultist
for over 10 years. He engaged in the worst crimes
imaginable, including armed robbery, and
operated from Benue, through Bauchi to Borno.
In this encounter, he recounts how he led many
university undergraduates into cultism and armed
robbery; his waterloo during a robbery operation
in Maiduguri; life in prison and how his death
sentence was reversed through divine
intervention.
He says he would spend the rest of
his life preaching the mercy and love of God
through Jesus Christ who delivered him from the
jaws of death.
He is the brain behind Renewed Mind Foundation
International.
Excerpts:
How didyou begin the journey into cultism?
I was in JS.S 3 in 2002 at the Federal Government
College, Vandeikya, Benue State. At the time I was
initiated, I never knew that I was entering into
cultism.
Those days, we used to break bounds. We would
scale the school fence. I was actually initiated
during the period known as "mock extension",
where JSS 3 and SSS 3 students would stay back in
school. I was initiated by my seniors. They loved
me, always took me out and bought me drinks and
cigarettes. I was introduced to partying. On one
occasion, they took me to a party and, from the
venue, somewhere in the bush.
What happened thereafter?
I was taken there alongside 14 other students for
the initiation rites and I met 14 other students. The
initiators stripped me to my boxers. The initiation
held between 9:30pm and 4am. we went through a
series of torture. In fact, one of my friends
became deaf while the other had a broken leg due
to the manner in which they dealt with us.
Subsequently, we began to meet within the school
premises for lessons on the cult codes and
language. Our meeting point could be in the hostel
and sometimes in the orchard.

Education / The Plan B" If Jamb Fails You, Don't Fail Yourself by Naijatalktalk(m): 7:59pm On Nov 23, 2015
Its so discouraging how many applicants of tertiaryinstitutions get turned down annually, morepainful for those applying the third or fifthtime, but most times things are not as theyappear for those that believe that everydisappointment is a blessing. No one prays for failure but it look so funnywhen some of us get to wake up to the realitythat the admission we seek has slip-off ourhands. But life is not always about how many timeswe fall, but how we stand back after a fall. Not wasting our precious time here are 5things to do when you loose admission into atertiary institution as a student;1. Be mindful your of steps:Most failure is a resultof one wrong step or the other. Some studentsloose admission because they choose thewrong subject combination during UTMEregistration, some others didn't prepare wellfor their post-utme because they did so well injamb. You need to re-publish your steps inorder to prevent any of such mistakes in thenext exam. You may even consider taking apre-degree form having considered somefactors(like you don't want to stay at home thatyear), considering your steps will help youprepare for your pre-degree entrance exams2. Make An Alternative Plan:Having properlyevaluated your steps, you need to makeanother plan. for some of us it may be gettinga home tutor for some subjects that we noticelapses, for others it maybe consideringanother choice university or course and so on.
