Fluids are more than liquids, this note explains the fluid flow with partial differential equations. Did you know? A fluid isn’t only a liquid. Air is also a fluid. Anything that can flow and take the shape of its container is called a fluid. Now, in mathematics, especially in fluid mechanics, we often study how a fluid quantity (like temperature, density, or concentration) changes as it flows. This is where partial differential equations (PDEs) come in. A simple example is: q_t(x,t)+Aq_x(x,t)=0 Or in two dimensions: q_t(x,t)+Aq_x(x,t)+Bq_y(x,t)=0 Meaning of the components q(x,t) - this is the physical quantity moving with the fluid. It can be temperature, density, dye concentration, etc. q_t(x,t) – the rate of change of that quantity with respect to time. q_x(x,t) and q_y(x,t) – how the quantity changes in space (along the x–direction and y–direction). A and B – the speed or velocity components of the fluid in the x and y directions. These determine how fast the fluid carries the quantity around. In simple words: The PDE is saying: “The change in q over time comes from how the fluid carries it through space.” This is why fluids (air or liquid) require PDEs because they move, spread out, and transport quantities continuously in space and time. But when others try to divide you, there will always be remainders, because no one shares your exact character, personality, values, or way of thinking. You are unique. A prime number is a natural number greater than 1 that can only be divided evenly by 1 and itself. Examples include: 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13… Just like prime numbers can’t be perfectly divided by other numbers without a remainder, a human being can’t be perfectly understood, matched, or defined by others without “remainders” - uniqueness.
