Sports / PREMIER LEAGUE! Sarri Finally Reveals Why Chelsea Beat Tottenham 2 – 0 by Nairatrenders: 3:57pm On Feb 28, 2019
Chelsea manager, Maurizio Sarri has explained why his side defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

A strike from Pedro and an own-goal from Kieran Trippier gave Chelsea all three points against Tottenham at Stamford Bridge.

According to Sarri, Chelsea won against Tottenham because his players asked him “to press a little bit lower” against the visitors.

“At the beginning of the match, we pressed really very high,” Sarri was quoted by Metro UK as saying at post-match.

“We recovered 10 balls in the opposing half. Then it was really very difficult for us because we played 120 minutes three days ago, so the players asked me to press a little bit lower.

“Of course I agreed because they defended really very well.

“But we defended very well in the final as well against City. In the match against Malmo, in the last three matches, we’ve defended very well with a level of application and attention higher than before.

“But I think that the level of aggression we have was good. ‘It’s not enough to say ‘stop Kane’. Kane is a great player, but it’s not enough to say to the defenders: ‘Stop Kane’”.

Politics / PDP kicks, calls for a rerun as INEC declares Buhari winner by Nairatrenders: 6:52am On Feb 27, 2019
ABUJA – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has kicked against the results as announced by the Independent National Electoral (INEC) for the Saturday Presidential election.

The INEC Wednesday morning declared incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress APC as Nigeria’s President-elect having polled the highest number of votes in last Saturday’s Presidential election.

While Buhari scored 15, 191, 847, his main challenger, former vice president Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP polled 11, 262, 978 votes.

Consequently, INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu who is also the Chief Returning Officer for the Presidential Election said Mr Buhari would be presented with a Certificate of Return alongside his vice, Yemi Osinbajo.

Buhari was declared President-elect at about 4:43am in Wednesday.

“I, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu hereby certify that I was the Returning Officer for the Presidential Election held on the 23rd day of February, 2019. That the he action was contested; that the candidates received the following votes”, he began.

Having announced the scores of the 73 Presidential candidates, Yakubu said; ” That Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress APC having satisfied the requirements if the law and scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared winner and is returned elected”.

Meanwhile, the PDP has kicked against the results as announced by INEC. Shortly before the announcement, the PDP Presidential Collation Agent, Osita Chidoka implored INEC not to make any return but to declare the election inconclusive in certain parts of the country and order a rerun.

He said the PDP would explore legal options to reclaim its mandate and declined to append his signature to the Result Sheet like other agents.

Chidoka said; “The PDP does not accept this result as representing the valid votes of Nigerians, we have made three issues; first, after all the investments in technology, we required INEC, after spending N27 billion in this year’s budget alone for technology, we had expected that today, INEC would have for the purpose of transparency not just for law would have projected to us the results of what the card reader that they used displayed about the people that went through the card reader verification, that singular act puts a dent on the credibility of the election.

“The second one is the issue we raised about the number of registered vis-à-vis if what the chairman now calls collated voters means that 1.6 million people are missing in the voter register. We think that issue is substantial enough to require a resolution.

“We also believe that the difference between the accredited voters and the total votes cast which came to about 750,000 votes requires an issue to be looked at.

Finally, we believe that the cancellations that took place in the election impacting 2.7 million voters requires to be looked into seriously.

“So, in our view this election requires to be looked at again and possibly we would have had a rerun, more importantly, we think that INEC should have looked consciously on the use of the card reader, the absence of card reader is a major violation in the elections, it renders that election null and void, that is what the chairman promised us.

“So, for us in the PDP, we believe that this is a new low in Nigeria’s electoral history. Since 2015 we believe that Nigeria would have been making progress in the election, but violence in this election, the issues that have arisen in this election, lack of transparency that we saw in this election did not increase nor improve the belief of Nigerians in the electoral process.

However, the PDP remained a very lawful party, we believe in the law, we believe in the constitution of Nigeria, we are committed democrats, PDP is a party that entrenched democracy in Nigeria, the PDP is the party that made it possible for Nigeria to enjoy the fruits and dividends of democracy.

We will continue to support democracy in Nigeria, we will continue to promote democracy in Nigeria but we have a good message for Nigerians, we want them to remain peaceful, we will explore all our options, including the belief that the legal process in Nigeria is one of the ways to resolve issues”, said Chidoka.

His views were countered by Festus Keyamo, an agent of the APC who hailed the election and said the ruling party would also be filing petitions regarding results declared in some Southern states.

While Messrs Buhari and Atiku jointly scored a total of 26, 454, 825, the 71 other Presidential candidates jointly polled 869, 758.

The Total Valid Votes cast was given as 27, 324, 583, Total Rejected Votes stood at 1, 289, 607 and Total Votes Cast stood at 28, 614, 190.

On the level of voter turn out, the INEC boss placed the national average at 35.66 percent.

He said the commission would in days to come critically study the issues raised by the PDP and other parties regarding what they described as discrepancies in figures.

Politics / Agbaje spits fire, wants INEC to release results immediately by Nairatrenders: 5:47pm On Feb 25, 2019
The Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, has made allegations of ongoing manipulation of the results of last Saturday’s elections and called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately release them.

Agbaje, who addressed a Press Conference in his campaign office on Ikorodu Road, Lagos, wondered why 48 hours after polls ended, the commission still failed to release all results.
He said: “As I speak today, we have a situation where results are being delayed. It is two days now and results are not being released in Lagos State. And they are not being released in areas where we, PDP, have strength.

And that is deliberate. We have a situation where results are being tampered with. That is not going to be acceptable to us. We will not accept results that have been tampered with in Lagos State.”

According to the Member of the House of Representatives for Oshodi-Isolo 1 Federal Constituency, Honourable Mutiu Shadimu, who was at the press briefing, voters in his constituency had been intimidated on Saturday by hoodlums led by the Treasurer of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo.

The same gang had also prevented traders from opening their shops on Monday.

According to Agbaje, INEC officials’ delay in releasing voting figures was unpalatable and was an extension of the faulty conduct of elections in several polling areas throughout Lagos.

His words: “The problems started from the polling units. The guidelines were very clear, that after election and counting of votes, election results are supposed to be pasted on the wall at the polling unit. We have no reports that election results were pasted anywhere in Lagos State. That was the beginning of the problem.

“At the collation centres, we had a lot of intimidation of our agents. The ruling party had a multiplicity of party agents representing it. We had a situation where officails of the Lagos State government showed up and were represented in their numbers against the lone voices of our agents. We had a situation where our collation agents were arrested, leaving us unrepresented at the collation stage. That again is not acceptable us.

“We go back to the election day, where in a lot of cases, we had a situation where the card readers did not function, including my own voting unit. It created a situation where the electoral agents were unable to verify the identity of voters vis-a-vis the PVCs presented.

“Now we are calling on security agents to bring to book those who caused the mayhem in Okota, Coker Aguda and several other places in Lagos State. And that is very important. If we are going to talk about democracy, then we have to practise the culture. It means that everybody will play his part. Voters will come and vote and we have assured them that their votes count.

“Where we disenfranchise many voters then we are just playing lip service to our democracy. We have places where not less than 37 polling units in one local government have their votes cancelled and stolen. And this was done very openly; it is on camera.”

Corroborating Jimi Agbaje was the Member of the House of Representatives for Oshodi-Isolo 1 Federal Constituency, Honourable Mutiu Shadimu, who accused APC of employing hoodlums led by the Treasurer of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Musiliu Akinsanya, aka MC Oluomo, to wreak havoc on several polling units in the council.

Shadimu said traders thought to be loyal to PDP were being attacked and prevented from opening their shops in the popular Oshodi Market.

According to Agbaje, results at the party’s disposal showed that PDP won in Eti-Osa and Ajeromi-Ifelodun, where results are yet to be officially annouced.

“As we speak, there are games going on in INEC, We don’t have access to collation centres. We are being deprived of our own representation, and that cannot be fair or acceptable,” he said

Politics / PDP lost 300,000 votes to card readers failure in Ebonyi - Umahi by Nairatrenders: 5:33pm On Feb 25, 2019
GOVERNOR David Umahi of Ebonyi state, Monday stated that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP lost over 300, 000 votes to the operational failure of Card Readers during the conduct of the last weekend’s presidential election in the state.

The Governor who stated this while briefing newsmen in Abakaliki on the success recorded by the party in the cause of the last presidential election described election as a game in which there is no permanent enemy and friend but permanent interest within a political arena.

According to him: “I want to thank Ebonyi people for coming out to cast their votes. I want to thank politicians and political parties that participated in the election. Election is a game. It comes and goes. No permanent enemy.

“I want to congratulate all those that won. Everybody has destiny. I want to commend the security agencies in the country. They refused to be induced. I also commend the officials of INEC. I want to console the families of electoral officials who died in active service. My prayer is that God will grant them eternal rest. “Buhari still remains my friend whether is losing or passing. I can’t castigate him and I can’t cajole him. Over 300, 000 votes were discarded in Ebonyi because of the hiccups of the card readers. We have issue between constitution and guidelines. We have given 260, 000 votes to PDP. The rest is what INEC announces. PDP has done well.

“The truth is that I can’t speak for all the state. If you were declared winner and you didn’t use card readers, you may lose. I call for improvement and electronics voting. Card readers may not have been used in other parts of the country.

“The issue of the card readers was a problem. Every responsible Governor must respect the President. He is the boss of all the Governors. You can’t get anything by castigating him. If you make your leader happy, he can assist you in making progress. I am in a hurry to change the narrative of Ebonyi.”

Politics / IGP Orders Investigation Of Security Related Infractions During Elections by Nairatrenders: 10:18pm On Feb 24, 2019
The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered a thorough investigation by the Special Election Investigation Team (SEIT) of all security-related offences during the elections.

In a statement, Police spokesperson, Frank Mba, said: “a total of 128 persons were arrested across the country for various electoral offences ranging from homicide-related crimes, vote trading, ballot box snatching, impersonation, malicious damage, amongst others; while 38 assorted weapons and a cache of explosives were also recovered.”

The police chief hailed the conduct of the polls, describing them as generally successful, notwithstanding the loss of lives recorded in some areas.

He expressed concerns over continuous use of hateful and inflammatory comments by politicians and their supporters which he said were capable of inciting Nigerians against one another.

“While the Force is not in the business of censoring Nigerians or abridging their constitutional rights of freedom of speech, it will not hesitate to rein in the full wrath of the law on any person(s) found wanting in this regard,” the IGP stated.

While commending Nigerians for turning out in their numbers and their orderly conduct during the elections, the IGP also lauded the personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies for their sacrifice towards the successful conduct of the polls.

He directed Zonal AIGs and commissioners of police to ensure adequate post-election security arrangement in their areas of responsibilities with a special focus on collation centres and other vulnerable points to ensure peace across the country.

Business / 6 Reasons Why Insurance Is Important for you by Nairatrenders: 10:04pm On Feb 24, 2019
that if something cataclysmic happens to your business, your transporter will help you to make your business entire once more. Some of the time, however, it’s enticing to scrutinize the estimation of insurance since it is an impalpable item.

Let’s back up and take a big-picture view of why insurance matters. Here are few out of Milion reasons why insurance is important. What more would you add?

1.) Insurance Keeps Commerce Moving

In the days after the 9/11 attacks, there were numerous stresses over insurance coverage. Demonstrations of war are not secured by insurance. Was terrorism a demonstration of war? The central issue was, How might the 9/11 attacks be grouped? Luckily, the insurance business chose the attacks were not a demonstration of war.

Be that as it may, after 9/11, a few backup plans started barring terrorism. In any case, the government ventured in and required coverage for the sake of keeping business moving. For this situation, insurance likely kept numerous organizations from maintaining a strategic distance from psychological militant focused on activities, for example, refineries and compound haulers.

2.) Lenders Require Insurance

This reason is tied to No. 1. Lenders require that you have insurance. Think about it: Mortgage lenders need verification of insurance before you purchase or construct another building. To put it plainly, to get the cash your business needs to continue onward, it’s conceivable you appreciate the advantages of insurance. Without insurance, your triumphant plan of action can’t get the financing it needs to venture out, your built up plan of action can’t get the subsidizing to advance and better content.

3.) Insurance is Compulsory in Some States

Insurance is important because sometimes it’s the law! A great example of this is auto insurance. Auto insurance is compulsory in Wisconsin (home of HNI HQ). Auto insurance helps mitigate the risk of life on the road (of which there are many!). Workers’ compensation is a form of compulsory insurance that’s required in most states.

4.) Insurance Grants Peace of Mind

Insurance, an intangible, provides another intangible: peace of mind. Business owners can take on certain business ventures because they can shift the risk — thanks to insurance. This reason is the counterpart to No. 2 — lenders require insurance. Insurance is the required (by lenders) safety net that lets entrepreneurs explore opportunity.

5.) Insurance Ensures Family and Business Stability

Insurance is a safety net for when risks go wrong. Life insurance can support the life of a family, should a member be lost. It’s similar for a business. Should a key member or piece of equipment go out of commission, the business can carry on, thanks to insurance. This reason why insurance is important dovetails nicely with peace of mind (No. 4). It all goes back to the idea that insurance, when activated, makes policyholders whole again.

6.) Insurance Protects the Small Guys

When you look at your industry, you see the “big guys” and the “small guys.” If a risk goes wrong, the big guys will be able to survive. They can endure a shot. In any case, the little folks can’t endure a shot. Accordingly, they are more hazard disinclined, and now and again, they offer out to the enormous folks. In the event that enough little folks leave the business (and one major person gobbles them up), you’re left with a restraining infrastructure. With insurance, in any case, the little folks have to bolster on the off chance that they need to go for broke, which implies they stick around longer. What it comes down to is that insurance helps prevent monopolies from forming.
