Of course Nigeria has some businesses outside Nigeria but so has any other African country. Kenya has several businesses outside Kenya. The point is Nigeria is no where close to dominating or being the giant of Africa - you still have SA companies dominating you like Shoprite and MTN, you don't even have an oil refinery despite producing oil for over 40 years. Nigeria is big I know but your statistics are just too low to make you the Giant.

Here is a current google image of Ibadan...............you "giant of Africa" fans need to realize other Africans actually trabel into Nigeria and have information about Nigeria. Most of Ibadan is a shitty slum and the better part of it is a badly planned town. Any town over 250000 people in Kenya would beat Ibadan hands down.

There are still slums in IB for sure, but not the way your pictures have portrayed them.

I have travelled outside Kenya my friend. That you live in Ibadan doesn't miraculously stop it from being a shitty city. Cities of it's size need a well developed CBD with good neighborhoods and fewer slums occupying less than 5% of the area. Once again, those buildings still make up the biggest portion of Ibadan.

That Nigeria is growing is no secret and it's actually a good thing. What you fail to realize is that the whole of Africa is growing. Nigeria having a larger population will definitely have the biggest economy on the continent but remember a big economy does no automatically mean dominance. Nigeria merely having a bigger economy doesn't mean it's going to be a big brother to the rest of Africa - the obvious reason is, Nigeria has a much lower living standard than many African countries and is in no position to control them. Botswana has a much smaller economy than you but what is the probability of you guys helping Botswana in any way? Botswana is safer than Nigeria, has better medical and academic facilities, has better planned cleaner cities, has less poverty, is better run and better than Nigeria in almost everything apart from the size of the economy so no, Nigeria is not the giant of Africa. I can bring you several statistics ranking Kenya as a continental leader in ICT, Real Estate etc but at no point would you here me claim Kenya is Africa's giant due to that.

You should have asked yourself the same before comparing the GDP. I don't blame you though - those satistics are living standards statistics (infant mortality for instant has nothing to do with population - countries with shitty hospitals will have higher infant mortality). More people per 1000 die in Nigeria than in Kenya.

And Nigeria is probably the most resourceful nation on the continent. Forget crude oil, what do you think we survived on before the oil boom of the 70s?? Rubber, cocoa, gold, very large untapped iron ore deposits, bitumen, coal, just to name a few...oh yeah and agricultural land, Nigeria has the largest rice plantation in Africa.

EAC economy depends on Kenya too - the question you should ask yourself is, what influence does ECOWAS have and what's the value of that dependebility? If you are the most resourceful country on the continent (I forgive your ignorance - you've probably never heard of DRC) yet your countrymen can't get services as basic as constant electricity then you should be pitying yourself rather than boasting.

1, It is a stupid ignorant statement - can you prove that? How can you boast of having the first Civil Servants in Africa? How is that possible even? All governements have Civil servants, the first Modern Black African government was formed in Ethiopia hence it's obvious they had the first civil servants. Are you even using your brain? You probably don't have any.

2. How important is that? So far you have nothing close to the best hospitals on the continent - Kenya has generally better hospitals than Nigeria so how does supposedly having the first doctors help you to the extent of looking down upon Kenyans?

Nigeria's federal civil service single handedly funded the ANC of South Africa during their fight against apartheid. Moi's regime was pro white South Africa by the way and you are shouting.

Thousands of Nigerians fought in WW1 and WW2, Nigeria boasts of some of the largest empires of ancient Africa; ancient Benin, old Oyo, part of old Songhai, the more recent Fulani Caliphate, Bornu, etc . When these was on going Johnston Kamau aka the burning spear aka Kenyatta and his friends Dedan Kimathi were still in the bushes.

1. I know of a few Arab drug dealers at the coast but unfortunately those Arabs are Kenyan so we can't deport them.

2. White people who do illegal activities in Kenya are dealt with. I didn't say white people are clean, every group of people has its rotten apples. The point is, too many Nigerians are caught all over the world dealing drugs.

3. There are many Nigerians doing clean business in Kenya same way there are many Nigerians living in Kenya without being extorted or searched or deported. Perhaps if you lived a clean life nobody would bother you in Kenya.

This forum had very little info on Kenya, until recent months, no news was on Nairaland about Kenya.

You must be dreaming.

My time of joining is of no importance, refute my point, don't attack the time I joined. You have too many Kenyan threads here even some Nigerians are complaining why everything here seems to be about Kenya.
