Thank you so much.

You know since I left office I've always been scared talking to the media but in this particular case I decided to speak to the media.

First and foremost to thank Nigerians for the show of empathy, the encouragement, because while we are in Bisau and this so-called coup happened the information we got was that the whole country was agitated young and old irrespective of religious divides or political divides and I sincerely appreciate Nigerians and I want them to hear directly from my mouth, to appreciate their concern.

And secondly to thank my president, President Tinubu and the Ivorian president, President Ouattara. Both presidents were to send aircrafts to lift us, but somehow, you know, Cote D'Ivoire is closer to Guinea Bisau and there's always some relationship between Francophone countries and the Lusophone among the Francophone. They were able to penetrate their system to get landing permit first before Nigeria could do that. So the Ivorian aircraft was already on their way to pick us. So when we learned about the Nigerian aircraft was about leaving, we asked them not to bother. That is why if you see the picture, I was brought by an Ivorian aircraft.

So we thank the two presidents President Ouattara and President Tinubu and indeed thank Nigerians, young and old for that .
Then he goes on to say that he won't call what happened in Guinea-Bisau a coup. He said that the president invited the military to take over because he was losing the elections. He called for the release of the election results.

Keeping our state peaceful requires us to anticipate challenges before they arise, sharpen our level of preparedness, and reinforce the systems that shield our communities from instability. Although we have held similar engagements in the past, today’s meeting stood out in its urgency and relevance, which is why it was important for us to gather.

Our conversation with the service chiefs this morning reaffirmed our shared commitment to stronger security coordination and a united approach to safeguarding lives and property. Together, we are determined to keep Ogun State safe, stable, and welcoming for all who call it home.

OGUN GOVERNOR MEETS SECURITY CHIEFS, REAFFIRMS COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINING STATE’S PEACEFUL STATUS

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Monday met with security chiefs in the state to review the current security landscape and assess emerging issues at both the state and national levels. The meeting, held in Iperu, focused on strengthening coordination among security agencies and sustaining the state’s reputation as one of the most peaceful in Nigeria.

Speaking during the engagement, the governor noted that the best time to prepare for war is during a period of peace, stressing that Ogun State’s well-earned status as a peaceful and stable environment must be continuously protected.

He explained that maintaining this position requires proactive planning, consistent evaluation, and the implementation of measures designed to prevent threats before they arise. While similar meetings have been held in the past, he described Monday’s session as particularly crucial in reinforcing the state’s collective readiness.

Governor Abiodun reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with security agencies to preserve peace, enhance public safety, and ensure that Ogun State remains secure for residents, investors, and visitors.
