By the way, 3rd Mainland Bridge is not officially Ibrahim Babangida Bridge.

I watched the commissioning of that bridge and what was renamed was only the stretch from Ebute Metta to Oworonshoki, not the entire bridge.

Hopefully that will put an end to the matter.

I am not saying you are wrong but on what authority? The minister named it MMB bridge after consultations with govs of Anambra and delta state. Buhari said he wasn’t consulted but did not reject it. On what basis do you say it was not official?

The bridge is owned by the Federal Ministry of Works. Look at the name as stated by the Federal Ministry of Works (also look at the date).

It wasn't officially named after him. The official name is still Second Niger Bridge.

I believe that the reason why the Borno State Government was involved in the funeral and the reason why University of Maiduguri was named after him is because Muhammadu Buhari's mother was from Borno State.

However, I believe that these 3 facilities should also be named after him.

Just like 3rd mainland bridge is officially named IBB bridge but people still call it 3rd mainland bridge.

2nd Niger Bridge has not been officially named after him. People just gave it that name and some government officials nominated it, but it has not been officially renamed.

Well, there's nothing wrong with naming the University of Maiduguri after Buhari, but if it were me, there are 3 things that I would have named after him.

1) The Second Niger Bridge: So many governments have promised to build it (Shagari, Obasanjo and Jonathan for example) and failed, it should be named after him to acknowledge the fact that he actually built it.

2) Katsina Train Station:

The Kano-Maradi rail line had been proposed by previous governments, but it was his government that actually started construction. Buhari was also from Katsina State and it would be perfect if the Katsina Train Station is named after him.

3) The NDDC Headquarters building in Port-Harcourt:

The land was acquired in 1996 (when the agency was known as OMPADEC), but nothing was built on it. The agency continued to operate from rented quarters. In fact, rather than connect the old headquarters to the national grid, they kept buying diesel for its generators. It was Buhari's government that built the new headquarters and he commissioned it in 2021 (25 years after the land was bought), so it should be named after him.

2027 and the story of that thread.

You might remember that I told you that some people had gone cr azy ahead of the 2023 elections. To them everything was about the 2023 elections. Pastors preached sermons, the exact same kind of sermons that they usually preached at other times, but some people attacked them because they believed that the sermons were about the 2023 elections.

To those people, everything was about the 2023 elections. Something similar happened this week.

The person that created the original thread was one of the assistants of President Muhammadu Buhari and he was showing appreciation to the Vice President for taking care of President Buhari in his final months.

However, the usual suspects attacked him. Some of them claimed that he was posting because of 2027 elections (that he wanted to get Buhari supporters to vote for Tinubu) and some said that government should not have spent money on the house. I repeat, this guy was Buhari's assistant!

He created the thread on Tuesday or Wednesday but, probably because of the attacks, he deleted the first tweet. It was yesterday that I noticed that he deleted it.

Bashir Ahmad then made his own tweet. You might remember that the same people had previously attacked Bashir for making a thread, but instead of deleting it, Bashir wrote a response to them.

Luckily, some people had copied the assistant's thread, but I was not sure if they copied him word for word and that's why I didn't quote him. I had originally planned to quote him, but he deleted the tweet.

As you can see, the same people are trying to do the same thing on my thread, but I don't have time for them.
