Ishilove:Since when and how do you know? Or are you referring to "Jubril from Sudan"? |
Pearl1910:That's what I mean. You don't know what you are talking about, but you just came here to blame northerners without any proof, no name, nothing. You just came here to sell your agenda without any facts. I knew it from your first post. Goodbye. 🤣 |
Pearl1910:Is that the name of the person that implemented the 6 geopolitical zones?? 🤣🤣🤣 Kai! |
Pearl1910:These are the two sets of people that you need to ask that question: 1) The founding fathers including Sir Ahmadu Bello, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Mrs Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, Dr Eyo Ita, Sir Adesoji Aderemi (Ooni of Ife), Sir Muhammed Sanusi (Emir of Kano), Alhaji Usman Nagogo (Emir of Katsina), Oba Aladesanmi (Ewi of Ado-Ekiti), Edidem Essien Nyong (paramount ruler of Uyo), Eze S.E. Onukogu and many others, who met at Lancaster House in London to negotiate independence for Nigeria, fashion a new constitution and to decide how Nigeria was going to be governed and structured. 2) Dr Alex Ekwueme, who drew the map of the 6 geopolitical zones. |
Pearl1910:Why are you running away from the question? We haven't yet come to your agenda, we'll come to that later. You said: Pearl1910:How do you know it's not the work of a southerner? If it's not the work of a southerner, then who's work is it? |
naptu2:Please don't forget to answer this question. |
Pearl1910:North Central contains the minority tribes in the North. Are Yorubas a majority in the North?? |
Pearl1910:How do you know that it is no work of a southerner? 🤣 (I want to laugh today) |
Pearl1910:Nope, he adopted them for the same reason that Ekwueme proposed them. I've previously posted a video of him talking about it. |
raumdeuter:Exactly and that was one of the reasons for the American Civil War (the idea that geo-political zones were not being listened to or represented). I am writing about that right now. |
Nefort:I am not going to answer all the questions (because it will take several days. I have already been writing about this across many Nairaland threads over the past 14 years), but I need to make one particular thing very clear. Alex Ekwueme recommended the 6 geo-political zones at the 1995 constitutional conference, but delegates voted against it. However, General Sani Abacha included it in the 1995 constitution. The committee that reviewed the 1995 constitution to create the 1999 constitution removed it again. The 6 geo-political zones are not recognised by the constitution. However, they are recognised by certain laws that were enacted by the National Assembly in order to provide representation. You see, we have 36 states and in some cases you can have representation from all states. For example, the constitution states that there must be a minister from each state. Each state also has a quota in recruitment for the armed forces and the civil service. However, some bodies are too small to have representation from all states. You are not going to have 36 commissioners in the National Broadcasting Commission. You are not going to have 36 judges in the Supreme Court. Etc. The 6 geo-political zones are used to ensure representation in such small bodies, so that there are at least members from 6 areas of the country in order to ensure adequate representation. |
