Honestly you get my point... I wish the Nigeria supporters club president can make significant changes to how we cheer our teams. This all we are saying is stale and uninspiring.
Actually, I don't think there's anything wrong with the song. It makes the players know how the fans feel, it motivates them to score and it provides extra excitement/ginger if the team scores while the fans are singing it.
PoliticsRe: FG Renovated VP Residence For N20 Billion. Soludo House Awka Cost N100 Billion by naptu2: 4:44pm On Jul 11, 2025
Another correction. The Vice President's residence was not renovated.

That complex has been under construction forever. It was not completed and nobody has lived in it. Nyesom Wike came and completed it.

The new gen need their own nitro song. Days of Babayaro, Aghahowa and Utaka don go. 😂
Its true though, scoring during the chant dey ginger even the weakest player that year.

We need new gen z chants.
Dr Rafiu Ladipo did a lot for Nigerian football, but he also wrecked our culture of singing and chanting in the stands.

Football chants are never politically correct. Football is like peaceful war and chants should reflect the feeling of the fans.

In the 1980s the whole stadium used to sing along with the supporters club and there were different songs and chants for each situation. The singing in the stands reflected what was happening on the pitch and the feeling of the fans.

When time has gone and the team hasn't scored, then you'll hear, 🎵All we are saying, give us our goal🎶 And 85,000 people would be singing the same song.

When the other team has a freekick or penalty you'll hear, 🎵Gba danu, gba danu, gba sigbo🎶 or
🎵Over the bar! Over the bar!🎶 And everybody would chant together.

If we wanted to threaten or warn the opposition or their fans, they'd sing, 🎵Won fi iku sere, won fi iku sere (insert name of opponent), won fi iku sere🎶

Before the match starts everybody would sing 🎵Baba wa ba wa se, Baba wa ba wa se o! Iwo lo wa da wa laiya, Baba wa ba wa se🎶

85,000 people would sing together. Famous musicians like Sam Akpabot would go and join the supporters club.

But Dr Rafiu Ladipo became president of the supporters club and then president of the African Supporters Club organisation and he brought political correctness into everything.

He said that 🎵All we are saying, give us our goal🎶 put too much pressure on the players. He removed songs and chants that could be considered violent.

The result is that what the supporters club plays does not reflect what's happening on the pitch and most times the fans do not sing with them. Their songs do not excite the fans anymore because they cannot relate to them. No new songs are coming up to reflect what's actually happening on the pitch.

We hardly have situations when the whole stadium is singing with the supporters club.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Rejected US Push To Accept Venezuelan Deportees — FG by naptu2: 8:37am On Jul 11, 2025
Ishilove:
I find this hard to believe. Why will the US ask an African country to accept Venezuelan prisoners? What happened to other countries in Latin America? Why not send the deportees back to their own countries? Why a far away country in AFRICA??!

I call bullshit. Fake news
It's not fake news and this has been happening with many countries not just Venezuela.

I suspect (but I do not know for sure) that Donald Trump got the idea from Boris Johnson.

Many illegal immigrants are streaming across the English Channel to the UK. It's a huge problem that they haven't been able to solve for around 15 years. By law the UK have to accept them if they ask for asylum once they are on British soil.

Boris Johnson's idea was to do a deal with Rwanda to take them while their asylum claim was being processed. The deal was challenged in the courts and in Parliament and it never happened before the Conservatives were voted out.

Donald Trump's plan is to deport a lot of people, but some countries have refused to accept the deportees, so he is signing agreements with African and South American countries to accept the deportees in exchange for goodies (reduction in tariffs, aid, etc).

PoliticsRe: Tinubu Sends Shettima To London To Visit Ailing Buhari In Hospital by naptu2: 8:17am On Jul 11, 2025
This was the first information that went viral and according to the article at the beginning of this thread, this was how the Presidency knew that Buhari was ill.

Buhari Spent Days In ICU After Falling Ill During London Medical Trip

Was it Tinubu that leaked that?

Buhari's team had to issue a response.

I commented based on my analysis of the article posted above in black and white. If you have a problem with that, I can't help it. I owe you no explanation. I'm simply doing this out of courtesy as a highly respected member of Nairaland that you are, Sir Naptu2. Have a good day.
🤣 You commented based on your bias which has no basis in fact.

Journalists all over the world cultivate sources. You don't know if the source is in the vice president's entourage, in Buhari's entourage or where it came from. Remember, the journalist sources had already reported that Buhari was ill and in London and this was how the Presidency allegedly found out. Was it Tinubu that also leaked that?

How do you know that it was Tinubu that leaked it. The answer is that you don't know.

How do you know that Tinubu felt outdone? The answer is that you don't know.

Have a good day. I won't read your response since it has been established that you don't know what you are talking about.

"A reliable source told THISDAY that as soon as Tinubu received information that Buhari had been admitted to the London hospital, the President, who was scheduled to travel to St. Lucia, called the Vice President, directing him to proceed to London to check on the former President and report back to him."

"It was unclear why the visit was kept a secret, but when contacted about whether the visit took place and, if it did, why it was not made public, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), Stanley Nkwocha, confirmed that Shettima was in London, but said he could not confirm if he visited the two Nigerian leaders.

He insisted that the visit was a totally private one, explaining that he wasn’t privy to his boss’ itinerary to England’s capital. However, he stated that although he wasn’t sure whether the Vice President visited anybody, he was aware that he (Shettima) returned to Nigeria from London last Monday."

Above excerpts are from the article. You should know better. Political analysis are based on inferences and what is implied. None of us need to be in the room to analyse.
In other words, you don't actually know about any of the things you posted. You just made a story up based on your bias.

AMINDA:
It's literally there in the article. Shettima went on a private visit. How did an internal communication from a President to his Vice which he intended not to make "public" find its way to the media space?
Deflection. You have not answered the questions.

naptu2:
Were you present when Tinubu quickly leaked it?

How do you know that Tinubu "sensed that he was outdone"?
There is no where in the article that it said that Tinubu leaked it and there is no where in the article that it said that Tinubu was outdone.

Please answer the questions.

Same questions to the fellow below.

Kalulu44:
You have heard about it, I have heard and also millions on Nairaland have heard it. Haven't it been made public already.
PoliticsRe: Tinubu Sends Shettima To London To Visit Ailing Buhari In Hospital by naptu2: 7:14am On Jul 11, 2025
AMINDA:
So why is it then in public if it wasn't leaked? As made clear in the article, Shettima actually went on his accord, but Tinubu sensing he has been outdone, quickly leaked a false narrative that he sent Shettima.

Tinubu trying desperately to milk Buhari’s support base after spending the past years demonising him and sidelining all his allies from the CPC bloc. Same way he went to Katsina and dishonestly said he was missing Buhari. Not even having Buhari as a Vice will save Tinubu from the wrath of the North.
Would they not have made it public if they were actually desperately trying to milk the support base?
