AMINDA:
It's literally there in the article. Shettima went on a private visit. How did an internal communication from a President to his Vice which he intended not to make "public" find its way to the media space?
Deflection. You have not answered the questions.

naptu2:
Were you present when Tinubu quickly leaked it?

How do you know that Tinubu "sensed that he was outdone"?
There is no where in the article that it said that Tinubu leaked it and there is no where in the article that it said that Tinubu was outdone.

Please answer the questions.

Same questions to the fellow below.

Kalulu44:
You have heard about it, I have heard and also millions on Nairaland have heard it. Haven't it been made public already.

AMINDA:
So why is it then in public if it wasn't leaked? As made clear in the article, Shettima actually went on his accord, but Tinubu sensing he has been outdone, quickly leaked a false narrative that he sent Shettima.
Were you present when Tinubu quickly leaked it?

How do you know that Tinubu "sensed that he was outdone"?

AMINDA:
Tinubu trying desperately to milk Buhari’s support base after spending the past years demonising him and sidelining all his allies from the CPC bloc. Same way he went to Katsina and dishonestly said he was missing Buhari. Not even having Buhari as a Vice will save Tinubu from the wrath of the North.
Would they not have made it public if they were actually desperately trying to milk the support base?

But that of the VPndoes not contain all that you listed ba ? It contains only thatched roofs.

Felloe Nigerians see them ipobs arguement.
One of the problems of Nairaland is that it is very difficult for some users to actually read and comprehend simple statements because they are obsessed with attacking and they don't even know what they are attacking.

Read my previous post again and this time try and actually understand what was written in it
PoliticsRe: FG Renovated VP Residence For N20 Billion. Soludo House Awka Cost N100 Billion by naptu2:
I'm not going to get into all this argument about what is more expensive, etc. I just want to provide some additional information.

1) The Vice President's residence has been under construction since the military era. Part of the problem is that they kept adding things to it (banquet hall, guest house, etc). This caused an upraor during the GEJ era because they wanted to add security gates and people complained about the cost.

The project was abandoned during the Buhari era because Vice President Yemi Osinbajo said that it was unnecessary (the media was speculating that it was going to be completed and they complained about the cost, but Osinbajo said that government was not interested in continuing the project).

Nyesom Wike said that it was wrong to abandon a project that a lot of money had already been sunk into, so he completed it.

2) What Governor Soludo built is an Administrative City, including a governors office, governor's residence, presidential lodge, etc.

Note: the cost of the Administrative City is different from the cost of the governor's residence alone.

(You can't compare the cost of these facilities to the cost of regular houses because they include security features, buffer land, quarters for staff, sports facilities, etc).
Politics2027: ADC Is Home For Obidients – Saliu Lukman by naptu2(op): 10:08am On Jul 10, 2025

2027: ADC is home for Obidients – Saliu Lukman

One of the leaders of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, Mallam Salihu Moh. Lukman has declared that the party and the coalition are the home for obidients, urging them to come together to build the coalition.

This was as he disclosed that anyone who emerges as a candidate of the party would be supported by all to avoid the pitfalls of the past.

Speaking when he appeared Tuesday morning on a Channels TV programme monitored by Vanguard in Abuja, the former All Progressives Congress APC national vice chairman for the Northwest, also appealed to supporters of various leaders of the coalition to join hands with the ADC to rescue Nigeria.

He said once the opposition leaders are divided, it is as much as granting victory to APC and President Bola Tinubu.

“So, as much as possible, we must keep the opposition together, and in keeping the opposition together, it is not about asking anybody to step down.

“And I appeal to the Obidients and other groups, to really understand that the ADC and the coalition is the home for them and they should come and let us build ourselves together.

“If Peter Obi emerges as the presidential candidate of ADC, we will all support him and strengthen him to overcome the shortcomings of the past. So also, any other, if it is Atiku Abubakar who emerges, for instance, we will support him and strengthen him in such a way that he doesn’t repeat the mistakes of former President Buhari.

“So, I think these are issues which as Nigerians, we must be very honest and frank in engaging them if we are going to move this country forward. This is the kind of debate we want to have in ADC.

“Everybody will slug it out in the presidential primary, apparently”, he said.

According to him, the ADC would also factor in the issue of equity in its deliberations, saying the party will accommodate everyone.

Lukman also reiterated the position of the party that there is currently no discussion about having a presidential candidate in the coalition.

“Let me be very clear on this, there is no discussion about the question of the presidential candidate in the coalition, up to this moment. And our position is basically, whoever, and that is the first test of whether we will be different from the existing parties or not, whoever will be the candidate of the ADC must win the primary.

“It is the first test of whether those aspiring are in the first place, democrats or not and this is the issue we are engaging all of them. And the other test which we are putting to all of them is that their ambitions must go beyond their personal expectations. It has to factor the reality facing the country.

“They have to come ready to be able to make the needed sacrifices to move this country forward. As it is, we have to be very honest, where the country is, it is not simply about presenting candidates.

“I always put forward to them that, look, as far as I am concerned, it is not a question of trusting leaders. I mean, leaders must earn the trust. So the best way leaders can earn trust is to be able to show humility that they are ready to subordinate themselves to the wishes of members of the party.

“Coming from APC, having a situation where we trusted leaders and they ended up becoming emperors today. Look at what is happening in APC. Everywhere you hear ‘on your mandate, on your mandate, on your mandate,” I am not going to stand on anybody’s mandate.

“We want the person to always subordinate himself to members of the party, always seeking to get clearance in terms of what they are doing. That is the kind of template that we are looking for. And I think as Nigerians, we must resist the temptation of setting up leaders in a way that they become very arrogant, believing that it is either them or nothing. That is the kind of negotiation that is right now going on within the coalition and it is a very difficult negotiation, I must confess, but we are very confident that in the end, we will succeed in presenting a common candidate.”

Garba Shehu’s book launch: Buhari a highly consequential leader, says Tinubu

by CYRIL MBAH, Abuja
July 10, 2025

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has described ex-President Muhammadu Buhari as one of Nigeria’s most consequential leaders whose time in office shaped the direction of our country in profound ways, promising that the reform-oriented path the past administration initiated will be consolidated and strengthened by the present government using the Renewed Hope Agenda.

Speaking through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, President Tinubu, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the formal presentation of the book, “According to the President – Lessons from a Presidential Spokesman’s Experience,” authored by a seasoned journalist, media strategist and former Presidential Spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu, congratulated the author for the important contribution to Nigeria’s democratic literature and public discourse.

He described the event as not merely a celebration of a book but a significant national moment and an opportunity to reflect on the leadership journey embarked upon by “one of Nigeria’s most consequential leaders whose time in office shaped the direction of our country in profound ways.”

The President described the book as “a compelling and sincere documentation of leadership from within through the eyes and experiences of a spokesman who worked at the very heart of power. We are offered a unique, unfiltered and well-considered insight into the decisions, challenges and accomplishments that defined President Buhari’s tenure from 2015 to 2023.”

He stated that Mallam Garba Shehu has done more than tell a story but captured a legacy and put forward a chronicle that provides context and clarity to the policy directions, governing principles and leadership philosophy of a man whose disciplined and unwavering sense of duty left a significant imprint on our nation’s governance architecture.

“Former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, is a man whose leadership stood on the pillars of integrity, accountability, prudence as well as patriotism. Under his stewardship, Nigeria witnessed a decisive push to confront insecurity, a serious commitment to infrastructure renewal, a renewed focus on self-reliance and a clear effort to sanitize the public sector. These themes resonate strongly in this book and must be appreciated in their full historic dimensions.

“From the restoration of fiscal discipline to the diversification of the economy, from the development of critical national infrastructure to the transformation of our rail and road networks, and from the expansion of social investment programmes to the repositioning of the agricultural sector, President Buhari’s era reflected an earnest attempt to reposition Nigeria for future resilience.

“In foreign policy, he was deliberate and consistent. Nigeria’s voice remained steady and respected within the African Union and the international community. Our engagements with global partners were guided by a principled foreign policy doctrine that upheld national interest, regional stability and non-alignment.

“At this juncture, it is also worth commending President Buhari’s humility and restraint in the exercise of Presidential power – hallmarks of democratic maturity. In the face of provocation, he remained calm. In moments of uncertainty, he held steady. His was a Presidency of discipline and quiet strength.

“Nation-building is a relay. The efforts of one administration lays the foundation for the next. In this regard, I acknowledge the efforts of my predecessor, President Buhari, and assure all Nigerians that the reform-oriented path he initiated will be consolidated and strengthened under this administration. Our Renewed Hope Agenda is inspired by the desire to build a resilient, just and inclusive Nigeria – a nation that delivers dividends of democracy to all its citizens,” he assured

The Chief Presenter of the book, Prof. Ibrahim A. Gambari, who was the Chief of Staff to Ex-president Buhari described the book as “a profound act of national documentation, a deliberate and vital effort to imbue our collective consciousness with the intricate operational dynamics of presidential communication and a vital element in the very architecture of democratic governance.

Gambari said the book illuminates key policy thrusts that underscored President Buhari’s transformative legacy, stating that the profound societal impact of the first-of-its-kind Social Investment Program (SIP), sought to reach “the doorstep of the poor” and improve the quality of life for millions of citizens.

He commended the revolutionary strides in fiscal transparency through mechanisms such as the Treasury Single Account (TSA), Bank Verification Number (BVN), Tax Identification Number (TIN), Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPS), the Whistle Blower policy, and the National Identity Number (NIN) saying that the policies complemented the concerted efforts to strengthen the nation’s security and enhance Nigeria’s stature abroad; and build Africa’s diplomatic institutions and development agencies.

“These initiatives, as Malam Shehu documents, introduced an “unprecedented culture of personal integrity” and set “new benchmarks in transparency”. A particularly insightful contribution of this volume lies in its rigorous analysis of “the greatest challenge that President Buhari faced,” which Malam Shehu identifies as “the perception challenge” and “the tyranny of high expectations.”

He reveals the government’s strategic approach to addressing criticism “in the right spirit” and offers concrete “communication solutions for dealing with such scenarios.”

He called for collective effort in the war against insecurity, warning that the president and even the armed forces cannot do it alone without the cooperation and collaboration of the people.

Mallam Garba Shehu has previously worked at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA). He was the Managing Director (MD) of Triumph Newspapers at the age of thirty-three (33) and the President of the Guild of Editors at the age of thirty-seven (37).

Garba Shehu was the spokesman of Vice President Atiku Abubakar in 2003. However President Obasanjo sacked him and other spokesmen of Atiku 6 months into the job (this was when Obasanjo and Atiku had differences).

In 2015 Alhaji Atiku Abubakar nominated him to be the Director of Media and Publicity of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for the presidential campaign council.

President Muhammadu Buhari appointed him as his Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity in 2015 and he was reappointed in 2019.
