accountantben:
It seems that IBB is on a wheeled chair.
He was shot during the Civil War. They couldn't remove the bullet (I think it's in a sensitive place). He has radiculopathy. On two occasions he had to go abroad for treatment when he was president.

He has had to wear othopedic shoes because of it and he is now confined to a wheelchair.

The event was also a fund raising ceremony for the Ibrahim Babangida Presidential Library.

Here are photos and videos of the event.

Olusegun Obasanjo

“You have not only contributed to history; you have contributed to documenting history.

“It is an important part of our nation building to keep accurate records. Please don’t be unduly worried about critics and put him down syndrome.

“It may even be an indication of success, but take note of objective criticism. A chronic critic of mine, the late Tunji Braithwhite, may his soul rest in perfect peace, condemned a book of mine. And when asked if he had read it, he answered in the negative. He said he had not read it, and said that once Obasanjo was the writer, it must be condemned.”

Aliko Dangote

I will contribute N2b annually for the next four years which is N8b to the development of the IBB Presidential Library. If the project drags more than four years, I will continue to pay N2b every year.

General Yakubu Gowon

General Gowon said that he visited Babangida's school to convince them to join the Army and ten of them joined the Army (Babangida said that they were actually fifteen that joined the Army), including Babangida and Abdulsalam Abubakar.

He talked about how his late younger brother (Captain Isaiah Gowon) told him that he had a very good commander during the Civil War (Babangida) and he (General Gowon) was thinking of making the officer his ADC.

He said that it didn't happen and he was given his marching orders from Dodan Barracks. He said that Babangida was one of the people that gave him his marching orders from Dodan Barracks. It was a very difficult period and he was charged with treason.

But Shagari pardoned him and Babangida restored his rank.

President Bola Tinubu

President Tinubu said that President Babangida did not immediately inaugurate the National Assembly after they were elected in 1991. There were rumblings and Babangida had a meeting with the senators. He said that he spoke up and spoke directly to President Babangida at the meeting and said, "Why are you delaying? Why not inaugurate the National Assembly here and now"?

People said that he would be arrested, but President Babangida walked up to him (when he was leaving) and shook his hand.

He talked about the banking reforms and said that the new generation banks would not exist without President Babangida.

He said that the argument has now been settled, "I bow to you, you are older". He thanked everybody for coming to honour his friend, his senior prefect, his colleague.

Professor Yemi Osinbajo

Professor Osinbajo was the book reviewer and he said that General Babangida stated (in the book) that Chief MKO Abiola won the June 12, 1993 election.

He said, "Tinubu who was forced into exile by the military is here to celebrate with his former tormentors".

UPDATE ON FALSE KIDNAP ALARM IN AGO OKOTA

In response to a viral video wherein some yet to-be-identified persons around Victory Estate, Ago Okota are seen beating and humiliating three (3) young men for being suspected kidnappers, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, today Wednesday, February 19, 2025 held a fact-finding meeting with the Chairman, Chief Security Officer, two other residents of Victory Estate and one of the men alleged in the video.

After an extensive interview, it has been undisputedly proven that the three (3) men in the video are not kidnappers and there was no kidnapping incident at the Estate. The Chairman of the Estate Association told the CP that the people are not kidnappers, so also the Chief Security Officer and another Security Committee member equally told the CP that the three (3) men are not kidnappers and that there was no kidnapping incident at the Estate as seen falsely spread in the social media.

It is concluded that the video is false, misleading and malicious to cause fear and apprehension in the Estate. The men had indeed gone to see their friend (who was also present at the CP's meeting) at the Estate at about 10pm on Monday, February 17, 2025. An altercation between the three (3) men and a tricycle rider degenerated into pandemonium and confusion in the Estate at that time.

The Lagos State Police Command hereby urges Lagosians to be cautious and verify news items before sharing them to avoid spreading panic and fear in the minds of the good people of Lagos State, which can cause threat to peace or which can lead to loss of life. People are implored not take laws into their hands.

Consequently, Lagosians are therefore encouraged to go about their lawful businesses without fear of harassment or intimidation and be assured that the Police is fully on ground to guarantee their safety and security always.

But why did Nigerians hate Howard Hewitt so much? I got caught up in that thing and I don't even remember why I hated him, except for when I compared him to Jeffrey Daniel.

Soul Train was a very popular Black American music programme in the 1970s and '80s.

It featured people dancing to the latest Black American music. They also had guest artistes who performed their songs live. All the biggest stars of the 1970s and '80s, including The Jacksons, The Whispers, Shalamar, Ollie and Jerry, Tina Turner, etc performed on Soul Train.

Jeffrey Daniel was a very good Soul Train dancer. He became an original member of Shalamar. He taught Michael Jackson how to do the back slide and then Michael converted it into the moonwalk.

Jeffrey Daniel came to Nigeria to perform with Shalamar many times in the early 1980s. They were brought to Nigeria by Silverbird.

He relocated to Nigeria in the 2010s. He became a judge on Pepsi Nigerian Idol. He married a Nigerian woman and they have a child.

The two main Domino supermarkets were on opposite sides of the road at the junction at Sabo, Yaba (those were the only Domino Stores outlets that I knew).

One was on Herbert Macaulay Way and the other was on Commercial Avenue.

In fact, Ben Murray-Bruce used the building at Commercial Avenue as his office in the old days. Check promotional materials for his concerts, pageants and TV productions in the 1980s and 1990s and you'll see that the contact address was on Commercial Avenue, Sabo, Yaba. Even after he created Rhythm FM and Silverbird TV, they still used that address as one of their contact addresses.

The outlet on Herbert Macaulay Way also had a Small World outlet beside it.

That store on Herbert Macaulay Way has been rented out to Domino's Pizza and people still call the area Domino Bus Stop.

I am not sure if the store on Commercial Avenue still functions.

The Domino Group built a mall on Commercial Avenue, not far from the old Domino Store. It's called the E Center. It contains Ozone Cinemas, stores, offices and games and entertainment centers.
