TravelRe: Governor Sanwo-Olu Commissions Lekki Alternative Road. by naptu2(op): 2:08pm On Feb 15, 2025
Anyway, I live here and I know that work on that road was completed in December (I wrote about it on my diary back then), so that's not what interests me here.

What I find interesting is the governor's comments about the Green Line rail.

I have been trying to find out the exact route and alignment of the Green Line and the governor gave a clue in his speech.

He said that work on the rail line will begin this year and that they are going to expand the expressway to make space for it. He appealed to residents to cooperate with the workers when construction starts.

This means that the rail line will follow the alignment of the expressway.

There has been some debate about the route of the rail line. Some people think that it will run along the Ahmadu Bello/Bar Beach area, while others think that it will run along the Ozumba Mbadiwe/Lekki Expressway area.

You see, it'll be easy to lay the rail tracks along the expressway from Sand Fill to the Ajah area, but the problem is along Ozumba Mbadiwe from Bonny Camp to Sand Fill. That area is heavily built up.

There are flyovers, overhead bridges, walls and buildings that are too close to the road, etc on that area. Furthermore, there would have to be a sharp bend at the Bonny Camp area and that should be difficult for a train to navigate.

I believe that the two most difficult sections of the Green Line to construct will be the bridge from Marina to VI and the section from Bonny Camp to Sand Fill.

I can't wait to see how they will navigate those sections.
