Yampotatocarrot:
There are "too many"?

No, that's wrong... You'll find out most of the stations are situated in Edo state, because the CNG initiative has been on ground in the state for years

Let's take Imo for example, how will one refill after converting to CNG... I believe government should just concentrate on those states where the filling stations are much, then stations are built in other states, they move in
You are wrong and you don't understand what's happening at all. I will try (only once) to explain it to you (though most of the information is on the first page).

Read carefully.

1) I complained severely on Nairaland for many years that our CNG infrastructure was not enough. I saw in 1989 when government promised to introduce CNG and Peugeot even made a 504 that was powered by CNG. However, years later, there were no CNG stations or conversion centres. The stations were supposed to be built by the Nigerian Gas Company, a subsidiary of NNPC.

2) The NNPC ran a pilot programme in Benin City in the 2000s. It partnered with Nipco to set up CNG stations and conversion centres. Many taxis in Benin City now use CNG. That was around 2005 to 2007. However, they did not extend it nationwide and I criticised the government for not extending it nationwide.

3) The government has now realised that it cannot go it alone. It is not for government to establish CNG stations, rather government should encourage the private sector to establish CNG stations. Very many CNG stations have been built across the country in the past 3 years by very many companies.

4) Private companies are also establishing CNG conversion centres. These conversion centres that you see are not government owned. They are owned by private engineering and car companies. However, government got them to convert commercial vehicles for free and to allow private vehicles to pay in installment.

5) This is one of the reasons why I said that it's too many for me to name. There are very many companies that are setting up CNG filling stations and I cannot possibly name all.

6) For example, you mentioned Imo, Saga Energy, which helped Dangote convert his trucks and set up filling stations at his plant in Obajana, is building CNG filling stations in Imo. https://sagasenergy.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/Sagas-Energy-Ltd-Brochure-Printable.pdf

You can see that it is not on my list on the first page. I cannot possibly name all the CNG stations and companies, just as I cannot name all the petrol stations and companies in Nigeria.

Cocean Energy also wants to set up a CNG station in Imo State, but the location is currently subject to a land dispute.

https://easternleadexpress.ng/stop-frustrating-establishment-of-cng-by-cocean-avu-mechanic-village-warns-ukachukwuc/

7) I have explained this over and over and it is even on the first page (with a quote by Innoson). Those vehicles can use both CNG and petrol. If CNG finishes and you are in a place that doesn't have a CNG station, then use petrol.

Is that guy still wasting his time and trying to get my attention? Does he really think that I will read his post? Simple question, you said that they are not too many to mention. OK, go ahead and mention them. He can't. How does he expect me to take him seriously?

Hahahahahahahahahaha

I said that there were too many for me to name. He claimed that they aren't too many. I told him to go ahead and name them and this is what he came up with? Is this a joke? Are these the names? Obviously you are not serious and I only engage serious people.

Goodbye. I won't read your posts any more.

Distribution to 2000 youths in the country, not even in a state?
Yeah, all the PCNGI programmes are done in phases (they can't possibly do everything in one day). For example, they've been running the conversion programme every weekend for more than a month now. The 2,000 tricycles are the tricycles that will be distributed in one place (Abuja) on one day (Independence Day).

What the hell! grin

One funny character up there said I am pushing something for blah blah blah. Can you imagine?

Do you think I care what you do? I provide information for those who need it. Whether you use it or not, whether you use it or not is none of my business. I am not trying to convince you of anything, whether you convince yourself or not is your personal problem and I don't give a damn about it.

It makes no difference to me.

It is a dual fuel system, once you run out of gas, the system automatically switches to petrol without asking you and without the engine going off
From Chief Dr. Innocent Chukwuma, founder of Innoson:

"The CNG vehicles are a solution, that's why we produce them. We made space for CNG, LNG, and Fuel so that anyone available in an area can be used to drive the vehicles. Electric cars, biogas, and solar-powered vehicles are also produced in this factory".

There is also a programme for private vehicles to convert to CNG and pay in instalments.

Woye @woye1

This is not correct. 1: Note this and you can verify from my media because I monitored all the centers in Abuja today with the National Coordinator of PCNG. For commercial drivers, it is Free of Charge.

2: check my media that I interacted with NIPCO Branch Manager too.

3: For individuals, nothing like 1.2m Whatsoever, payment dey small small. Why are our people dey mislead others like this

Empowering Nigeria's Youth with Affordable Transportation!

The Presidential CNG Initiative (PCNGI) is distributing 2,000 CNG-powered tricycles to informal youth in the transportation sector, as part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's @officialABAT administration's efforts to reduce transportation costs for Nigerians.
Bayo Onanuga @aonanuga1956

STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE

PCNGI COLLABORATES WITH COMMERCIAL TRANSPORTERS TO SLASH TRANSPORT COSTS, EMPOWERS 2000 YOUTH WITH TRICYCLES

The Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGi) commenced today a Transport Fare Drop Programme across the country, starting with Abuja, as it ramped up the adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a cleaner, more affordable alternative to fuel.

Representatives of the PCNGi signed an MOU with the National Union of Road Transport Workers covering the Abuja to Itakpe Station—Ajaokuta Train Station—Adavi route to convert fleet vehicles to CNG in return for a 30-40% fare reduction.

This programme will encourage NURTW members in Abuja to convert their vehicles to CNG in exchange for a fare reduction.

On Saturday, September 28th, 2024, the PCNGi will continue its nationwide commercial incentive programme for commercial car open days, expanding to 38 centres in Kaduna, Abuja, Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Delta, and Edo states.

The PCNGi will sign an agreement with the Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) on Monday, September 30th, to operationalise the Nigerian Police CNG Conversion Programme and train cadets to manage the strategic conversion centres the NPTF is investing in.

According to the PCNGi's Programme Director, Michael Oluwagbemi, this initiative will help train the police cadets to manage strategic conversion centres established by the NPTF.

Similarly, to celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Anniversary of Independence on October 1st, 2024, the PCNGi will launch the CNG Tricycle Empowerment Program in collaboration with the Ministry of Youths.

This program aims to provide over 2000 young Nigerians with the opportunity to own and operate CNG-powered tricycles.

The PCNGi will launch the Kogi State Conversion Incentive Programme on Wednesday, October 2nd, and hand over CNG buses to the state's mass transit entity to ply interstate routes to Abuja.

Additionally, the PCNGI will inaugurate three new CNG conversion sites in the state.

To conclude the week’s activities, the PCNGI will launch in Ekiti State, where the handover of CNG buses to the state mass transit organisation to ply the route to Abuja will take place. It will also inaugurate four new CNG conversion sites in the state.

Issued on behalf of PCNGi

Michael Oluwagbemi
Program Director/Chief Executive
