The commissioning of the Mushin Flyover marks a milestone in our infrastructure development as it is the last of the five overpasses we built along the Red Line Rail corridor.
Em, whatever happened to our own satellite, naija sat one or so?
Naptu2, any idea?
We've had many satellites.
Nigeria Sat-1 reached the end of its life cycle and we launched Nigeria Sat-2 and then Nigeria Sat-X. These are earth observation satellites.
We also launched NigComSat 1, a communications satellite. However, in 2008 NigComSat 1 ran out of power due to problems with its solar arrays. We then launched NigComSat 1-r.
We also launched EduSat-1.
At the moment NigComSat-1R, NigeriaSat-2 and NigeriaSat-X are still working.
naptu2: Dear diary, over the past 12 years I have told you about how the record company created and released this song in order to cash out on the fame of their former artiste, I have told you about how this song caused massive controversy, leading to protests, demonstrations, boycotts, cancelations, etc
I have also told you about how this song destroyed the career of another artiste (because he defended it) and how, many years later, the original singer regretted that he made the song and ordered that no new copies of it should be released.
I told you that the song was blacklisted and unavailable on the Internet (in fact, back then, I posted the instrumental because the full version had been scrubbed off the internet).
Well, the full version is here now.
The reason for the controversy is because the song's chorus is about killing gays.
I'm not really into the lyrics but the riddim is incredible. In fact, the riddim is actually from the next song. The record company took the original of this song, removed the music and replaced it with this riddim.
I've posted the instrumental below the full version because you've got to listen to the congas. In fact, you must put on your headphones, turn up the bass and listen to the instrumental. It's incredible.
The original song that he did in Jamaica is on YouTube
YES! YES!
It is back on YouTube.
I do not agree with the lyrics, but this song is a masterpiece and everybody should be able to hear this masterpiece.
I have already written about the history of this song, why people protest against it, how it almost ended Buju Banton career and how it ended Shaba's career.
(Basically he is saying that gay people should be killed, though he didn't mean it literally)
I am sure that you know what the next song will be
naptu2: I know that I said that I would only post songs that are not on the playlist, but I couldn't help myself after seeing Mad Cobra. These are the first two songs on the playlist.
Now diary, remember that I told told you that Boom Bye Bye was about ķilling gays, right? Therefore it's very difficult to find the original song with the original riddim. It's been censored off many sites (I have the original on my phone and laptop).
However, what we have below is the instrumental. There's no toasting (you can't even hear Buju's voice), just the riddim.
Of course after Boom Bye Bye is one of the greatest ragga songs ever.

Flyovers are also being constructed along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
There used to be junctions and zebra crossings along the expressway (for example, near Alaba Market), but these led to unbelievable traffic jams. I have been stuck in those traffic jams in the past and believe me they are hellish.
The Lagos State Government is also constructing the Blue Line rail system along the route and it does not want conflict between trains and cars (there will be no level crossing on the route).
Therefore the Lagos State Government is building flyovers at Alakija, Iyana-Iba and Alaba Suru.
The Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, today formally commissioned the Mushin Flyover — the last of the five overpasses built along the Red Line corridor, bringing a new commuting experience to the axis.
The project, undertaken by Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), will bring traffic relief to motorists and commuters connecting Agege Motor Road from Onipanu, just as it solved congestions and delays associated with railway level crossing at Ogunmokun axis.
The overpass also eliminated pedestrian and vehicular interference on the rail tracks, eradicating the risk of accidents and collisions between trains and vehicles.
A euphoric crowd of residents thronged the short ceremony where the Governor, his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, and members of the State’s cabinet gathered to inaugurate the project.
Mushin Flyover — the last of the five overpasses built along the Red Line corridor — is now open to traffic. Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Saturday, formally commissioned the infrastructure, bringing a new commuting experience to the axis.

A euphoric crowd of residents thronged the short ceremony where the Governor, his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, and members of the State’s cabinet gathered to inaugurate the project.
Before the Mushin Flyover was completed, the Sanwo-Olu administration had opened four other bridges in Yaba, Oyingbo, Ikeja and Agege to create new connectivities along the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Red Line, which spans 37 kilometres from Agbado to Oyingbo.
The Governor said the opening of the Mushin Flyover was another fulfillment of his administration’s promise to the residents, noting that the infrastructure had changed the face of public transportation in the State.
The flyover, Sanwo-Olu said, would bring relief to the issue of congestion hitherto experienced in the area, while also reducing journey time in accessing Mushin from Ilupeju axis.
He said: “The Mushin overpass is strategically important for ease of movement and connectivity within Mushin and Onipanu communities, opening new routes to Agege Motor Road, Post Office Road and Ogunmokun axis. This infrastructure has brought not only traffic improvement, but also huge economic value to the area.
“With this new infrastructure, we have ensured there is minimal disruption on the Red Line corridor. For us, we have kept our promise to the citizens and made their lives better. The quality of infrastructure we have provided is about making the lives of our citizens better, improving their means of livelihood and quality of life.”
Sanwo-Olu disclosed that members of the host communities benefited from the project construction, pointing out that the construction also gave engineering students an internship opportunity to get first-hand practical knowledge.
The Governor also said the primary school demolished in the right-of-way of the flyover had been rebuilt in a nearby location, commending Mushin and Onipanu residents for supporting the development.
He charged the residents to take ownership of the infrastructure and protect it from deliberate destruction.
LAMATA Managing Director, Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, said the State Government had fully compensated owners of the buildings in the course of the project, which, she said, was handled by a local contractor.
Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi is the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation.

I have seen all kinds of accidents take place along that route in over 40 years.
There used to be a yellow and black barrier along that route when I was a kid, it was lowered when a train was coming, to prevent cars from crossing, but it was stolen and rammed very many times. At one point the NRC decided not to replace the barrier, but instead they stationed a man with a flag at the level crossing. He waved his flag whenever the train was coming and traffic stopped. But some people did not stop because they believed that they could go faster than the train.
A train rammed a soft drinks truck along that route in the 1990s, a train rammed a car and carried it to the next station in the 2000s and just a few years ago a train rammed a Lagos State staff bus, killing some people.
The Lagos State Government and the Federal Government have decided that there should no longer be any level crossing along the route, in order to prevent conflict between cars/people and trains. The Lagos State Government is to build 5 flyovers along the route and the Federal Government will build 5 flyovers.
The route will also be walled off to prevent traders from trading on the rail tracks and squatters from living along the route. Pedestrian bridges have been built along with the flyovers.
The Lagos State Government has now built all its flyovers and these are:
1. Agege Pen Cinema FlyOver
2. Oyingbo FlyOver
3: Yaba FlyOver
4: Ikeja Flyover
5. Mushin Flyover.
The Federal Government is to build 5 flyovers, but it hasn't built any yet.
It pleases me to share that the Mushin Flyover — the last of the five overpasses built along the Red Line corridor — is now open to traffic.
Today, I formally commissioned this infrastructure, which I believe will bring a new commuting experience to the community.
With this new overpass, we’ve made it much safer by keeping pedestrians and vehicles away from the train tracks, which will help prevent accidents. It also opens up new routes to Agege Motor Road, Post Office Road, and Ogunmokun, making travel easier and boosting the local economy.
I’m also happy to share that the primary school that was demolished in the right-of-way for the overpass has been rebuilt nearby.
I encourage everyone to take care of this infrastructure and to help protect it from any intentional damage.
