Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie saves 5th penalty in 8 UWCL matches
Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie was the Saviour for Paris FC Women in the UEFA Women's Champions League against BK Hacken.
Nigerian goalkeeping sensation Chiamaka Nnadozie was the heroine again as she saved a penalty to keep Paris FC Feminines’ UEFA Women's Champions League hopes alive.
Nnadozie proved to be the decisive difference maker as the French side held their hosts BK Hacken at home on Wednesday night.
Nnadozie shines for Paris again
The 22-year-old proved why she is the current African goalkeeper of the year with another sensational outing for her club as they remain on course for a place for the next round heading into the final game of the group stage.
Nnadozie denied Rosa Kafaji from 12 yards in the 21st minute in what was her fifth spot-kick save in just eight matches in the Women’s Champions League.
She made two saves against English giants Arsenal Women, and stopped another one against last season's finalists, Wolfsburg before pulling off a fourth save against Liga F giants Real Madrid.
The Super Falcons star’s latest heroics also included six saves, 17 recoveries and 46 touches against Hacken.
Her incredible penalty record has made her one of the most feared keepers in women's football. Nnadozie shootout sorcery leaves opponents dreading stepping up to face her and preserved a precious point for her French side on their European adventure.
With the Super Falcon pulling her weight behind the sticks, Paris go into the last game against Chelsea Women still in contention of a place in the quarterfinal.
naptu2: In the past year Chiamaka Nnadozie has also made incredible saves and woman of the match performances for Nigeria at the 2023 FIFA World Cup, the 2024 African Nations Cup qualifiers and the 2024 Paris Olympic Games qualifiers.
One of the Cameroonian ladies was trying to get into our goal during a break in the game for a freekick. Our goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie, was telling her to go back. Asisat Oshoala saw what was happening and came and physically pushed the Cameroonian back.
While Oshoala was pushing that Cameroonian, another Cameroonian tried to run into our goal, but Chiamaka blocked her. However, the Cameroonian knocked down Chiamaka. Asisat then came and dragged that Cameroonian.
Luckily the lineswoman saw everything. A melee ensued and the lineswoman told the referee about the fact that the Cameroonian knocked down Chiamaka and the referee showed the Cameroonian a red card.
That was the second time that the Cameroonians tried to run into our goal.
Coach Randy Waldrum was asked about the drama in the post match press conference and he said that he doesn't believe in voodoo, so he'll let Deborah Abiodun answer the question.
Deborah Abiodun said (in Yoruba) "Omo ibile ni mi" (meaning, "I am a daughter of the soil). She said that she believes that the Cameroonians were just trying to distract them. She said that she doesn't believe in juju, she believes in God and she believes that the Cameroonians were just trying to distract the Falcons.
Even after the game, some Cameroonian fans kept going to her Instagram page to accuse her of using juju and they said that Nigeria would never qualify for the Olympics, so she decided to face them after we qualified (see second screenshot).
Malawi and PSG goal machine, Tabitha Chawinga, won player of the season.
Will she finally win African Player of the Year (Asisat Oshoala has blocked her from winning it in the past 9 years). She's from Malawi and they never qualify for World Cup or Nations Cup, but she's always scoring for her clubs.
Coach of the season was Olympique Lyon's multiple Champions League winning coach, Sonia Bompastor. She has taken Lyon to the Champions League final again, where they will play Barcelona.
Rumours say that she will be at Chelsea FC next season. Chelsea's coach, Emma Hayes, is leaving to become coach of the United States National Team.

BREAKING: NFF Appoints Finidi George As Super Eagles Head Coach
George’s immediate task will be to guide the Super Eagles to victory in two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa and the Benin Republic in Uyo and Abidjan respectively, in a little over five weeks.
The board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Committee to appoint Finidi George as Head Coach of the Super Eagles.
George, who spent 20 months as assistant to coach José Santos Peseiro before the Portuguese voluntarily left the post following the accomplishment of the Africa Cup of Nations runner-up position at Cote d’Ivoire 2023, took charge of the squad in an interim capacity during two friendly matches in Morocco last month.
His squad edged Ghana 2-1 in the first match, ending an 18-year winless streak against the Black Stars, but then lost 0-2 to Mali in the second game.
George, a member of the so-styled ‘Golden Generation’ that won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Tunisia and emerged as the second most entertaining team in Nigeria’s debut at the FIFA World Cup finals in the USA the same year, won 62 caps for Nigeria, including featuring at the 1994 and 1998 FIFA World Cup finals. He also won gold, silver, and bronze medals from the 1992, 1994, 2000, and 2002 AFCON tournaments.
The 52-year-old former Ajax Amsterdam (The Netherlands) and Real Betis (Spain) forward, who made a scoring debut for the fatherland in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Burkina Faso at the National Stadium, Lagos on 27th July 1991, also featured for Calabar Rovers and Sharks FC in the domestic scene before heading to Europe.
He assisted Rashidi Yekini (of blessed memory) to score Nigeria’s first-ever FIFA World Cup goal against Bulgaria in Dallas, USA on 19th June 1994.
George had scored the goal that took Nigeria to that FIFA World Cup debut, when he put Nigeria ahead against hosts Algeria in a crucial qualifier in Algiers on 8th October 1993. The match eventually ended 1-1 and earned Nigeria a ticket to the finals in America.
George’s immediate task will be to guide the Super Eagles to victory in two 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against South Africa and the Benin Republic in Uyo and Abidjan respectively, in a little over five weeks.
The matches are must-win encounters, with the Super Eagles lagging in third place in Group C of the African campaign behind Rwanda and South Africa.
