narcdramaqueen:Hello all, thank you for all the good advice so far. Trying again with this question. If the sponsor is based in Nigeria, what evidence can you use to say that they are not breaching UK immigration law? I am sponsoring my son in this case. I have a 10-year visitor visa since 2021, no overstays on any trip. Thanks in advance. |
Hello all, thank you for all the good advice so far. I have one question. If your sponsor is based in Nigeria, what evidence can you use to say that they are not breaching UK immigration law? Thanks in advance. |
Good day all. I was wondering if anyone had any advice, I am trying to book an appointment, but I'm stuck on the OTP part. Tried both whatsapp and SMS and nothing is happening. any one suffer this, and how did you get over it? |
Royals1st:That's why I was asking. I click on a date and nothing happens. I'll keep trying, I guess. |
Thank Goodness I came on here. Had no idea the wait times were so long, meanwhile they are still saying 15 days on the website. Meanwhile, I'm a frequent traveller but I'm finding it hard to get an appointment. Nothing happens when I click the times. Am I doing something wrong? I thought maybe the dates were gone, but even in July nothing happens. |
Bibi123T:Had to pay a travel agent for visa assistance. I was told that Spain's booking was closed till the start of October at the time, so we went with Italy due to time constraints. |
Hi, is anyone having problems booking an appointment? The calendar is completely greyed out for me. Does that mean that there are no available dates? |
Fimmyjay:It means that they have maybe moved it from one pile, or one office, to another. Bear in mind I'm in Lagos, but mine was updating everyday, even though it was on Application Received. It's now been approved. |
Ashen800:Since you are in the UK on a student visa, your work isn't all that relevant. You will need a letter from your school that states you are a student in good standing/enrolled when you go for the interview, and your financial stuff. I would say being a student in the UK gives you a pretty decent chance already. It usually helps if you have a valid visa for another western country too. I got a US visa in Switzerland as a student and it was nowhere as stressful as it is Nigeria. VOs were much nicer too. |
Ekeadatrust:that's me too, but in the ustraveldocs portal (where we booked the appointment) the 'your passport is with the US Consulate' message has changed to 'delivery information' which is what happened to a family member a few days (like 3-4) before they received theirs. i didn't know about the visa tracking site, so I didn't check that one then. i should note that i'm in lagos, so the timings could be a bit different for you, but i'm pretty sure we should have a passport hopefully with a visa in it by this time next week. |
Omodasolaadeke:I wouldn't say this. On paper, it would seem like she was going there to work even if common sense said it wasn't. Just say she wants to visit her child and grandson. |
cheras1:I didn't do anything, God smiled on me and I randomly looked and they had opened up some interview spaces in February. So i ended up doing it on February 10. Funny enough another family member had applied in early january and got March. So I actually got to submit before them. Anyway last time I looked on the ustraveldocs site, they said it's 1 day appointment wait time, so go and check.

Femaleoutfit:Hi, not the person you asked the question, but in my experience it seems to be at random. My mother, sister and I once applied together for IW and my sister was invited in for a physical interview. We later found out a few years later that there was some kind of error in her records in their system so maybe that might have had something to do with it. I had a passport stolen before my last visa, so if they invite me in we will know that it's not completely random. |
Fyfygal:5 working days is Thursday, so maybe you'll hear something by Monday. |
Hello everyone. I hope you are well, and 2023 is treating you well so far. Please, if you could give me some advice, I would be grateful. I applied for dropbox some time ago and it was approved last week. However, I only saw the email this evening. Go on the platform to schedule an appointment and the earliest appointment is in June. Unfortunately, my visa expired in April, 2019, so June will make it 50 months, not 48. Is anyone in this situation? How did you manage it and what would you suggest I do. |
Salma07:My advice to you is to not bother with Spain. I dunno whether they sent the people who came last in class to Nigeria, but they are very dull. You will even have to translate your documents into Spanish, and they will hold your application even beyond your planned travel date. |
Hello thread, I have a quick question. I am planning to travel to the U.K on holiday on September 27th. I have a long term visitors visa so that's fine. However, I had long since planned to do a course at the end of October (Oct 30) after my holiday, that lasts 20 days however I recently found out that I have to get a short-term study visa. However, when you look at the UK.Gov website, it says that you can study for up to 30 days on standard visitors visa. I've included a screenshot of the relevant section. According to that I can't just go there with the purpose of doing the course. Well I'm going on a two week cruise, then visiting friends for two weeks before the course, and it made sense to tag the course on this trip to avoid buying flight tickets twice. So what should I do? Assuming I have to get a visa, does anyone know if you can do priority with short term study visas in Lagos?

Ngasky:lol. like we don't all live in nigeria. |
texazzpete:http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-37283869 that happened at London City Airport last year and they didn't even have the right to be on the tarmac to begin with. i see and understand the point about safety and security, but having also been in that situation (hence my extra sympathy for them) there are better ways to have handled it. however maybe because in our case, we were plenty and possibly skewed older (at least 30), they went with the tender touch rather than the rough stuff. for instance, in our situation, arik ground staff were there and worked hard to calm us down, hell even the security agents had a modicum of sympathy and were concilatory. |
kayzat:Don't be ridiculous. They weren't wandering around anyhow on the tarmac. The only reason they were on the tarmac to begin with is that Medview cleared them to be there and then bleeped up. They should go and protest in Medview office? please stop typing from countries with customer service and be serious for a moment, airlines in nigeria are mental. in november, arik air left a planeload of passengers stranded in Kaduna, they had been waiting for about 12 hours for a flight to lagos. A colleague of mine finally got to Kaduna airport on Azman at 11 PM (after being advised by Arik staff in Lagos that they probably wouldn't be flying to Kaduna that day) and was told by people there that they were still expecting the Lagos flight. Meanwhile, not a soul from Arik air was in that airport to give any information or anything to the passengers. Sometimes, if you leave that place, you're on your own. |
Hello Agriculture Forum, I was wondering if any Cassava farmers here had encountered this disease. Please, if you have drop me a line, I want to interview you for a piece I am writing. Apologies if this is the wrong place for this, my deadline is fast approaching and i am a little desperate. |
