Print Screen is a Windows keyboard key dedicated to capture the whole screen upon pressed. Format an External Disk or a Flash Drive for Mac using Disk Utility in OS X El Capitan and macOS Siera.

To reformat the drive in Mac OS X El Capitan or macOS Sierra :

1. Connect the External disk drive or Flash Drive and open Disk Utility.app from /Applications/Utilities/ folder.
2. Select the External drive or Flash Drive on the left that shows the capacity and not the Volume which appears indented below the drive. Even if you select the Volume, it will also format the Disk, because there is no other Volume on this disk as shown in the picture. You must select the drive name as a correct way to format the disk.

2. Now we’ll need to show hidden files in the Finder because the Library folder on the Time Machine drive (as on your Mac) is hidden by default. To do this, open Terminal (located in Applications/Utilities) and type in the following command followed by the enter key (Note: you can re-hide hidden Finder files by replacing “TRUE” with “FALSE” and re-running the command below):

defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE

Next, restart the Finder by typing the following command:

killall Finder

3. Now open the Address Book contents of your current OS X 10.10 Yosemite by navigating to the following location

~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook

4. Enter the time Machine Backup then Go to ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook and replace the contents of this folder with the same folder in on your Mac and you are Done.

5. Copy the entire contents of the Address Book folder from the backup and overwrite the contents of this folder on your system drive.
Once the copy is complete, relaunch Address Book and you should see your contacts listed, current as of the date of your last backup.

The App Store yells at you about it that "Update Unavailable with This Apple ID: This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.". Situation B: you do own it and the App store allows you to download the latest version in full. Simple as that. You can always download/update apps that are listed under the account you are signed into the App Store with, because, well you know. They’re yours. They are in your account.

Removing the grayed out Apple ID email is as simple as following these quick few steps. Please note that it is impossible to test this with every app in the App Store but I haven’t seen anything to say that this isn’t the way it works for all apps.


Go to the app listed in the App Store as needing an update (usually in the /Applications folder).

Right click the app then click “Show Package Contents”.

Go into the “Contents” folder, then into the “_MASReceipt” folder.

Delete the “receipt” file (you may need to enter a local administrator username and password).

Please note that the app will still work as intended.
That’s it. This is really only useful in if the app you need updated is already in your Apple ID account. But even then deleting the app, logging into your Apple account, finding it in the App Store, and downloading it accomplishes the same thing.
Now, close the Mac App Store and then launch it again. Hopefully, at this point, when you try to update the app, its Apple ID field will be empty.If this doesn't work, you will probably want to put the _MASReceipt folder back, by opening the Trash.

How to download Firefox without any Web Browser on your Mac

I recently came across an interesting situation wherein one of my clients updated his Safari from Mac App Store software update and then he started getting the following error message whenever he opens the safari.He was running Mac OS X 10.8.

"This version of safari is not souported on the current version of OS X.Please upgrade to OS X 10.10 or above."

Unfortunately he did not have any alternate browser installed on his computer and he could not install any other browser now as it requires you to have a browser to go to the download the only option left was download the installation file on another computer and save it to a flash drive and install the Firefox or Chrome as an alternate browser on the other one where Safari does not work.
I tried to fix it but did not find any way but to reinstall OS X or upgrade to 10.10.4.

So here is the another way to get the installation of Firefox from terminal using FTP.


Go to Spotlight and type Terminal. Click on Terminal app to open it.
In Terminal type “ftp” and hit enter.
type “open ftp.mozilla.org” and hit enter.
It will ask for a username, type “anonymous” and hit enter.
It will then ask for a password, type “anonymous” and hit enter.
Open the folder with the latest Mac release of Firefox by typing in:
“cd pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/latest/mac/en-US/” and then enter.
View the contents of the current directory by typing in “ls” and then enter.
Switch to binary file mode by typing in “type image” and then hit enter..

Finally I got to the real Solution and found out MailTab Pro for Outlook.com (App that I use in my menu bar for outlook mail) is having some kind of issue. It has an skype login icon on the top right hand corner which tries to connect and login to skype after every 10 seconds and if it can not connect,opens the webpage login.skype.com and keeps doing it.

Sign into your account.
In the Settings and preferences section, click Account settings.
On the Account settings page, click Unlink next to your Microsoft or Facebook account.
If the account has Not linked as an option rather than Unlink, it means your Facebook or Microsoft account isn't currently linked to your Skype account. If you were expecting to see a linked account, ensure you've signed in with the correct Skype Name.



4. An information window opens. Read the information and, if you agree, select Continue to unlink your Skype and Microsoft or Facebook accounts.

If you sign in with a Microsoft account, unlinking will mean you can no longer sign into Skype with that Microsoft account (your Microsoft account will not be closed; only your access to Skype with that Microsoft account will be affected). Navigate to the following registry key and changes the value of Shell and Userinit as mentioned below.

1. PAGE FILE PROBLEMS CAUSING VERY SLOW SHUT DOWN

Page file is the Virtual memory of your computer or you can say an extension for your memory stick-RAM that is allocated on Hard Drive of your computer.Windows OS swap pages of memory to disk when they are not used. On a running system, this pagefile is opened exclusively by the operating system, and it is well protected. However, systems that are configured to allow booting to other operating systems might have to make sure that the system pagefile is wiped clean when this system shuts down. This ensures that sensitive information from process memory that might go into the pagefile is not available to an unauthorized user who manages to directly access the pagefile.This virtual memory is maintained in a file called pagefile.sys located in root drive normally C: drive.

When this option is enabled for security reason, it causes the system pagefile to be cleared upon clean shutdown. This takes considerable time of the Operating System to flush-out the pagefile, thus causing the slow shut down.

Disable the clearing Pagefile at shut down option to increase the shut down speed.

Open regedit.exe and go to the following directory:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management

Now, Find the registry entry named ClearPageFileAtShutdown in the right pane. If it is set to 1 it is enabled, and may delay the shut down process. Right-click it, select Modify, and change the value to 0.This will most of the time fix the slow shut down problem.


2. TWEAK REGISTRY TO REDUCE TIMEOUT TO KILL SERVICES OR APPS TO FIX SLOW SHUT DOWN.

When you give command to shuts down, Windows attempts to properly close all running processes. If a service doesn’t close immediately, Windows waits for a few seconds, until it prompts the user that the service is not responding to the shutdown request. The amount of this waiting time is defined by registry keys and you can reduce it.

1. Navigate to the following registry key
