You can't be liberal and think you are going to preside over the affairs of the powerful Kano Emirate Council. Hold a very high position in the Shari'a Commission of Nigeria. And hold the second position after Sultan of Sokoto in the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic affairs.
A liberal driven individual can't have this portfolio.

A 25-year-old woman has taken over as the head of a local authority in the mainly Muslim North of Nigeria.

Hindatu Umar is the first woman and the youngest person to hold the position in Argungu city, in the north-western state of Kebbi. She is also the city’s first unmarried local leader.

The BBC’s Abdullahi Kaura in Nigeria says her appointment is unprecedented.

Some residents have complained, telling the BBC that Ms Umar “lacks experience and boldness”.

She had been the deputy chairperson and was promoted when the tenure of the local chairman expired.

Our correspondent says that women in northern Nigeria usually remain in the background and rarely hold political office.

Argungu city is one of the biggest and oldest councils in Northern Nigeria and is famous for its annual fishing festival.

In all fairness, Northern Governors tends to outperform their southern counter parts. The only Southern Governor is Lagos state Governor. How comes Northern Governors with little resources tends to provide infrastructure to their people. Not to talk about that, we in the North have the best road network in the country. Maybe it time to send the Southern Governors to the North, to take. Course in leadership and infrastructure expansion.

No Surprises! Kano remain a strong hold of the APC and Buhari, and I didn't see that changing anytime soon

Either way, It still favor our Northern Region. We literally own the Nigerian political arena. In 2019, both APC and PDP will present a Northerner as their Presidential Candidate. And no region can dare do this.
