The alleged mastermind of the Nyanya bomb blast,
Aminu Sadiq Ogwuche, has denied knowledge of
the operation.
At a press briefing yesterday in Abuja, Marilyn
Ogar, Department of State Security Spokesperson
(DSS), presented Ogwuche along with five other
suspects. Ogar told the journalists that the other
five men had also denied any link with an
unidentified official of the Central Bank of Nigeria,
previously alleged by Stephen Davis, an Australia
negotiator, to have been funding the operations of
the Boko Haram sect.

Previously, Yau Saidu, a suspect in the Nyanya,
Abuja bombing told journalists at a briefing that he
and Ogwuche drove the bomb-laden vehicle to the
Nyanya Motor Park on the night before the blast.
However, Ogwuche denied the allegation, stressing
that he was in Sudan when the incident occurred
and was unaware there was going to be an
explosion in Nyanya. He insisted he was not a
member of Boko Haram and did not have any links
with the militants. Responding to a question, he
maintained that he had never met any of the other
suspects before.

According to SaharaReporters, Marilyn Ogar also
declared that Dr. Davis was a self-appointed
negotiator on Boko Haram and that the DSS was
not the source of the information credited to the
Australian. Responding to Davis’ allegations, Ms.
Ogar said that the DSS had invited the implicated
former Governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff
on several occasions but that he had yet to honor
any of those invitations.

A 35-year-old man, Yinka Offehin, is battling for his life
at a private hospital in Lagos State after his scrotum was
cut by the children of his landlady.
The Edo State indigene, who resides on Popoola Street,
off Abaranje Road in the Ikotun area of Lagos, was said to
have been attacked while sleeping in his room with his
family members.

His wife, Bisi, who was with him when the incident
happened, identified the assailants as Solomon and
Damilola, the children of the landlady.
She said, “On Thursday morning, around 3am, while we
were sleeping, we heard loud bangs on our door. We
initially thought they were armed robbers because the
house beside ours had recently been robbed.

“When they entered, we saw they were children of our
landlady. They began destroying our electronics and other
property.

“There were two of them. One held a knife in his hand.
They took N800, 000. They descended on my husband
and he also fought back. In that confusion, my husband
shouted and we saw that one of the attackers had cut
Yinka’s scrotum. I can’t say what they used to cut off my
husband’s scrotum.”

She added that her husband, though in pain, was able to
hold on to one of his attackers till dawn, while the other
fled the scene.
Bisi said her husband could not be admitted at a general
hospital because of the ongoing doctors’ strike, but was
eventually taken to a private hospital in the area.
When our correspondent visited the victim at the hospital,
he told newsmen the genesis of his problem was when he
had a misunderstanding with his landlady and was asked
to vacate his apartment.
“I was asked to leave the house immediately, but after the
intervention of the traditional ruler of the community, I
was asked to leave by the end of August.
“But that decision did not go down well with the children
of my landlady and they continued to make trouble with
me.

“I was already planning to leave their house and had even
contacted an agent when they attacked me without any
provocation. I want the government to fight for me,” he
said.

A doctor in the hospital, who pleaded anonymity, told our
correspondent that his patient would need up to three
months to recover.

He said, “We have stitched the area where the scrotum was
torn. It may take up to three months before it will heal. He
needs time to fully recover from the injury.”

A relative said the doctor told the family if the condition
did not improve, a surgery may not be ruled out.
It was learnt that about N60, 000 had already been spent
by the family.
The father of the suspects, a pastor, when contacted,
declined comment.
He said, “I am sorry; I can’t speak with you on this matter.
You know the matter is already with the police and those
they accused of committing the offence are in the police
cell. So, what do you want me to say? I was told they are
taking the matter to court. Let’s leave everything to God.”
Our correspondent learnt that the case was reported at the
Ikotun Police Division.

A source told our correspondent that a member of the
suspects’ family had on the morning of the incident
reported a case of armed attack on them by a tenant.

The wife of the victim, who met the relative at the station,
reportedly expressed surprise, telling the officers the
reverse was the case.

It was learnt that the relative was put behind the counter
after the police saw the victim’s injuries.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide,
confirmed the incident.

She said, “It was around 3am, while the victim was
sleeping in his room, that one Solomon Olowogbemi and
Damilola Olayeye, the children of his landlady, came in
and started fighting with him.

“In the process, they inflicted injury on him with an
unknown object. The skin of his scrotum was partly cut
off, thereby exposing one of his testicles. The two
suspects have been arrested and detained and the victim
taken to a hospital.”

Two men, Jonathan Nwogu from Mgboko
Umuola in Obingwa LGA of Abia state and
Chibuike Anubuife from Ezeagu LGA of Enugu
State were arrested by the Abia state
command of the Nigeria Security and Civil
Defence Corps, NSCDC while trying to bury
the corpse of a 3 year old girl in an
abandoned pit in Osisioma, near Aba on
Wednesday July 16th, 1960ng reports.
Parading the men before newsmen, the state
commandant of the NSCDC, Andy Dateer,
said the men were apprehended at Enyimba
petrol station near Ariara International
market, Aba as they tried to put the young
girl’s corpse in a sack for burial. A quarrel
ensued between the men and another man
who was to convey them to the point of
burial in his car when men of the NSCDC,
who were on a routine patrol around the city,
saw them. Continue…
“As people started gathering, the
owner of
the car zoomed off and my men
arrested
the two suspects. If they had not been
saved by my men, the public would
have
lynched them and the society would
not be
able to know the mystery behind their
act”
he said
Speaking with newsmen, one of the suspects,
Chibuike said he met Jonathan for the first
time on that day as he pleaded with him to
help him bury the little child. Jonathan on the
other hand said a man accosted him to help
him bury the child.
The NSCDC boss said both suspects will be
handed to the police for further
investigations.

Gov. Adams Oshiomhole has apologized for the comments he made to
a widow in Benin during an inspection tour on Mission Road, in the
state capital, a fortnight ago.
According to NAN, the Governor said he made the comments in anger

A healing river was reportedly discovered in Nachi Oji River in Enugu State, last week.
According to reports, it's a mystery to the people of Nachi for decades, was nick named the “Pool of Bethsaida” and appears every 20 years, as confirmed by the indigenes.

This year, the pool was discovered by fulani herdsmen who were on their way to feed their cattle. According to them, they passed the spot where the water usually came from and there wasn’t any water, but on their way back they discovered the whole place has been covered with water.

Kelly Rowland is a single lady no more!
Sources confirmed to Us Weekly that the 32 years old former Destiny
Child singer is engaged to marry her manager and boyfriend Tim
Witherspoon.
Rumors that Witherspoon had popped the question circulated when
Rowland was seen wearing a large diamond ring in a video on a pal's
Instagram account.
This will be Kelly's first marriage.
She was previously engaged to football player Roy Williams; they split
in January 2005, two months before their planned wedding.
"I was too young for marriage," the British X Factor judge later
told Cosmopolitan UK of their breakup. "But sometimes you fall down
and you learn from it.

It was a terrible sight on Sunday evening as a middle aged woman,
identified as Kemi, bit off the manhood of her neighbour around the
Inalende area of Ibadan, Oyo State. Kemi was said to have resorted to
biting, according to an eyewitness, after she was thoroughly beating
by the man, identified simply as Rasheed.
Speaking on what made her cut off a man's manhood with her
teeth, Kemi said: “He reported me and my friend to my friend’s
mother in-law after she arrived at our house and thereafter
started to beat me and when nobody rescued me from him, I bit
him but I do not know it was his pénis.”
It was gathered that issues on how to settle a misunderstanding
between Rasheed’s wife and another woman degenerated into a
violent fight. It was during the process of partisan interference that
Kemi angrily tore the man's dress, held his manhood and bit it off Mr
Rasheed's manhood live.
Aside from the manhood which was bitten off, she also inflicted a big
sore on the man’s abdomen. Rasheed was later rescued and rushed
to a nearby hospital in the area for medical attention while Kemi was
handed over to men of the Nigeria Police Force in the nearby police
station.
Kemi, a mother of two, further said they had not been on speaking
terms since she relocated to the area in June and Rasheed’s wife had
not been greeting her and her friend. “My friend, Adijat, has not been
greeting and talking with Rasheed’s wife, I know that was why he
decided to engage me in a fight,” she added.
Unfortunately, Kemi is going to prison as the police is already in the
process of arraigning her in court.
