Has it really got nothing to do with market cap? . . . . I agree volume is an important factor. . . but what if billions of shares are trading and they still aren't worth $500m? . . . . and what happens when you decide to dump holdings worth $500m in a market cap of $1bn? .   these are only arbitrary figures. I only tried to make a virtual market cap with a relatively small value and see aw the amount of stocks traded can affect the overall direction of a market. . .


So market cap is vital. . . the only difference here is the amount traded here is almost infinitesimal to the overall market cap. I do understand your views about the size of the markets here in western world . . . . maybe I am being too conservative and to be honest I am not an active trader on foreign markets. . . . . my money never reach

What you are saying are norms. . . ! The amount of stock that can be sold in a day is sure dependent on the market capitalization of the stock exchange on which the stock is listed. . . what I am saying is that in such times where buyers are wary of the most important thing - "PRICE" of the stock. . . . It is not impossible, at the same time it never always a straight forward process of dumping a$500m worth of stock.

If there's demand for $500m worth of stock in the first place, then the stock won't be "dumped". . . and there are certain conditions where a company should and cannot mop up it's own shares. . . In this case, Roman is a major share holder. . . if the company mops up it's own shares what happens the legal share holding structure of a PLC? . . there's a limit. . .

In this case the only option will be the open market and we are back to buyers and if they are willing to buy. Nigeria or not, stock purchases around the world are governed by "How much"? i.e "Price of the stock" . . . . .

Also there is a limit to how much stocks that can be sold by a single person without causing the market to think there's a reason behind the sale apart from raising cash. . . . . and with foreign stock exchanges that have no pegs on % movements. . . abnormal dumping can send the price of a stock crashing . . . the price even becomes unattractive for you who wants to dump.



Anyway sha what is done is done!. . . . How do we buy players in the summer when baba olowo is sick now?

It's not that simple. . . . We can dump our stocks but what your broker doesn't tell you is that he has found a buyer for your supposedly "dumped" stock. You can't dump holdings in a stock unless there is a corresponding buyer.

Although dictated by a number of factors, there are many times you want to dump your stock and there's no buyer for it. . . you continue to own it or better put, forced to own it until there is a buyer. . .

Wrt to Roman, he might have billions of shares, if there is no corresponding buyer for the billions of shares, he can't dump them. . . . . let alone overnight . . . .
The questions to ask are . . where do you actually dump? . . and who pays for what you have dumped?
