budaatum: The below is not to debunk your claim. I present it as an anecdote.
Lets keep eyes out so we can update. It would be nice to see companies debunk Smith and be benevolent for once, though I wouldn't believe they are if I were employed by them.
I'll reask about the tax if stars align more.
Don't mind the trolls. I am willing to bet that at the end of day, over 95% of companies will pass that tariff on for the simple reason that there is no clear, long-term policy in the actual numbers...... Why should most companies publicly announce an absorption of tariff policy, when the tariff could change tomorrow?
Odunharry: He needs to school a lot of people especially youngsters
All those wannabe wingers like our Madueke be forming POTY. Like I say, it's not just the dynamism, it's Yamal's intelligence to make good decisions at the right time.
ObaIgwe1: This shows the kind of people working with him. Imagine how they are turning the most powerful office in the world to a butt of joke. Even we from the "3rd World" country don't need to look at that picture twice to know is a bad photoshop, yet the President of the "1st Country of the 1st World" is shamelessly defending it continuously as a fact. Shame!
People will take to the streets if Tinubu were to be caught doing this to a Member of Public. Because at that point in time, we recognise that no one is safe. It's just a matter of time before they come for you.
For some strange reason in the US though, 70m plus people accept this. If it wasn't real life stuff, it would be hilarious. Like I told some of these clowns earlier this year, they don't deserve the freedom they claim they have in the US.
I never knew you, so I gave you a chance to boost your career by taking this interview. But you are not playing nice when you are not agreeing to my lies...... Why don't you just agree to this lie and we can move on?
This is the President of the United States people!
raumdeuter: DO you need to argue it when the fact is bare, The only new thing is that like the UK you also have no opinion of your own and choose to be a sidekick of ijebos even when you are saying different things
Maybe its British though to asskiss Americans
Amala turner. Lose the debate and pivot to something else.
IjeBos: I don't like the 3rd world moniker. I prefer developing country. That said a lot of people do use it w/o malice as it's become common usage. What separated his usage, as you mentioned, was the combination of the word leeches. It was Derogatory.
But this is all part in parcel of the gaslighting game he plays.
Bro, I am Pan African to the core. So you are singing my tunes. When I have conversations in business, I actually prefer to use term emerging markets.
happney65: White House accuses Amazon of "hostile and political act" after reported plan to display the additional cost of tariffs next to price of items. News
raumdeuter: Ijebos threw a tantrum because I called African 3rd world
Nateevs agree most of Africa is 3rd world
Yet Nateevs agree with Ijebos
It will be funny if not tragic how you suddenly became a boy boy who doesnt even know what you are agreeing with
You are just a troll. You latch on to the first thing you can find, and then you try to drag on for long, when you don't have facts.
Your first post about this little silly topic was actually to me. Believe it or not.
It was not the fact that you called African countries 3rd World, it was the fact that you were derogatory about it......
In your reference to the UK, you called it ........leeches like 3rd World African countries..... because most Americans don't know the UK. Extremely disrespectful and derogatory 5hit.
He replied saying you drank the Koolaid, and yes sir, you have. You are calling African countries Leeches, but you are the right one...... and when I agree with someone who thinks you are talking like Oyinbo, I am not independent?
raumdeuter: Your transformation from being an independent thinker to a boy boy is amazing sha. No independent thoughts again
I am not sure what you are talking about sir. Because I agree with Ijebos on a point?
Sir, I am as independent in my thoughts as confidently running several companies out of the UK, Nigeria (3 in Nigeria alone) and East Africa, all at the same time. I don't shit on Nigeria, and Africa at large. I embrace the 3rd world, and find solutions.
What's not independent about that?
Unless you mean something else that I am not privy to.
bemeruca: This does not make sense. No matter how you lie to yourself. Almost all countries in Africa are 3rd world countries. That's a fact.
The person you respond to use to appeal to authority that he lives in the US so by default he is better than those of us who lives in Nigeria and he is correct.
But that strategy never worked so for him.
What part doesn't make sense? I don't even understand what you are trying to say.
Meanwhile, who's argued that African countries are not 3rd world?
budaatum: Your "nobody" is incorrect. The yield will simply rise to a point where bonds become a bargain and buyers will rush in for the dips.
Imagine the current ~4% becoming 8, 12, 15%, and think what inflation would do.
A bargain? This is a misinterpretation of how bonds work sir. You have completely missed out the fundamentals of risk and default.
In June 2025, the US has to refinance about $8Trn worth of Treasuries. Those bills were issued in about 2015 with a coupon date of about 2.1% if i am right. Then it would cost the Treasury $170bn a year.
At the current 4.25% yield rate, it will cost $340bn to finance the same debt.
So if the UK were to dump $700bn of US bonds and yields went up to say, I don't know.... your median figure of 8% now; this means the US has to refinance same debt in June 2025, at a stagerring coupon rate of $650bn per year!!!!
To put things in perspective, this is more than the annual budget of the Navy, Army, Airforce and Marines combined. This will mean that effectively, the US is bankrupt.
The secondary effects of crash of the US dollar, the Fed having to raise interest rates to 8% will make sure that GDP goes to sleep forever.
And this is why Nobody, I mean Nobody, will touch it.
cococandy: This is a very valid fear. Out of my own mental health preservation I want to believe it will never happen. But never say never right?
Please fear Ma'am. I called it sleep-walking into it because there is no coherent plan....... or should I say, it only makes sense on paper and all the unintended consequences have been largely overlooked.....but believe it or not, there is a plan.
These guys are hell-bent on bringing manufacturing jobs back to the US. The problem, is that they think that the strength of the US dollar is the only impediment to that process. So they want to devalue it, deliberately. Yes.
The guy behind these shenanigans is Stephen Miran, the Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers to the Trump administration.
Miran believes in recreating the 1985 Plaza Accords where Japan, the UK, Germany and France and a few other countries came together and agreed to devalue the dollar........
This time though, all US trading partners should be forced into accepting a weak dollar, in return for security protection by heaping huge tarriffs on their exports to the US. They will also be forced to accept American-made goods.
Trump is currently denying that they are following Miran's policy but you can start to see all of the pieces.... pressuring NATO allies, non-stop chatter about trade-deficits, haphazard tarriffs on all and sundry....... you know, just like Project 2025.... piece by piece.
For brevity, I cannot go into why I think it's a stupid plan, but please pay attention to this. The devaluation of the dollar might become a reality at the minimum, by accident.
