If op is in Nigeria, the scarcity/high cost of the car's parts, and even more scarcity of competent hybrid mechanics of such model have cancelled out whatever fuel gains he might have.. I would rather stick with my Toyota V6/V8, do my pay-as-you-go fuelling, and avoid any battery monkey business down the line..

If op is in the 1st World, then he is all good and my concerns aren't all that applicable to his situation.

Not as bad as you think. The battery is about 150k and a lot of technicians especially at Ladipo have deciphered the hybrid system. Just get a reliable battery dealer and let him recommend his installer.
My search for Prius led me to this post.
I have done extensive research on the vehicle and it's a good buy.

Had the same issue with my Volvo XC90. Turned out that the catcher of one of the rear doors was bad so the vehicle kept reporting the door as unlocked despite being locked manually. Now the vehicle has a daylight sensor which automatically turns on some inner lights in the evening when a door is opened. This would make the inner light come on at night and drain the battery.
Solution I removed the battery terminal overnight pending my visit to Ladipo to fix it.

If you remember the request properly, the OP wants a vehicle that will double as a construction site vehicle.
Volvo XC90 will not serve as a site vehicle.

Safety 100% agreed. Superior quality interior materials. Very comfortable. However not good for a site vehicle.

I'm curious as to how an XC90 is good only for taking kids to school and back

2007, I bought it from you last year. Took it to the beach and the soft sand in the car park disgraced me.
All these highlanders, XC90s, Audi q7s are just elevated sedans with limited slip differential to help the vehicle maintain traction on icy roads.

Ignore his elevation and buy the 4runner. Trust me you won't regret it.
You can get a 2008 model V6 for about 6m to 7m foreign used.
Please make sure it's a 4wd and not 2wd.
The 4wd has a knob for switching on the dashboard and it comes with differential locks.
This is so that you can confidently visit your sites without worrying about getting stuck on the way or on site. The highlander or Volvo XC90 or Audi Q will not do it. Those are for taking the kids to school and back.
Another good vehicle is the Prado but I doubt if you can get a clean one for 8m unless you get a model before 2009.
I have a Volvo XC90 awd and a 4runner V6 4wd so I'm speaking from experience.

It's better to have the kitchen beside the dining than in between the bedrooms.
