Two men have gone to extreme lengths to get their hands on the latest Apple iPhone 6s, attempting to sell their kidneys in order to raise cash for the smartphone. According to local media, the two friends from China's Jiangsu province, named only as Huang and Wu, found an illegal agent online offering to buy the kidneys. A medical examination was reportedly scheduled for a hospital in Nanjing, however, when Huang and Wu arrived on 12 September the agent did not turn up. The pair have since reconsidered selling their organs. It is not the first time that reports have emerged of people keen to sell their internal organs in order to get hold of the latest Apple device. In 2012, five people were arrested in southern China in connection with the illegal trade of kidneys. According to the state-run news agency Xinhua, a 17-year-old received about $3,000 (£1,945) for one of his kidneys, which he used to buy an iPhone and iPad. The teenager, identified only by his surname Wang, subsequently suffered from renal failure. The group, who reportedly made $35,000 for the transplant, was charged with causing intentional injury and illegal organ trading. One year later, when the iPhone 5 was released in China, a couple was charged with human trafficking after allegedly selling three of their newborn babies to help pay for the smartphone. According to reports in the local media, the pair made $13,000 for selling their babies. Following the launch of the iPhone 6 last year, a Chinese student attempted to rent out his girlfriend in order to pay for the must-have Apple smartphone. At about the same time, a Saudi man asked his prospective brother-in-law for an iPhone 6 as a dowry for marrying his sister. "We have heard about quite a few things, but an iPhone 6 that has not even hit the markets here is a bit bizarre," said Saud Ahmad, a Bahrani office clerk, in response to the request. "We need to promote a culture where marriage should not be used by anyone to get gifts or make profits in any way. If I had been the groom, I would have confronted the brother." Suppose you had a walnut. And your dying to get to that yummi part inside. Would you hack a walnut or crack it? The logical question is therefore; Is there a difference? The most logical answer would be, "YES". If not, there wouldn't be a seperate word for the two. Back to the walnut; Cracking the walnut would seem to be the logical choice because cracking the walnut will not damage the nut inside the walnut cover. Am I going somewhere with this? Well the point to this walnut story is that there are various ways to get the job done. Each technique brings its flaws. But do keep in mind. Walnut is not a system critical computer network. Although, we all know there is a difference between cracking and hacking; Unfortunately, a lot of people confuse the terms "hacker" and "cracker". There are a number of reasons for this. The two big reasons are: =>Crackers often call themselves "hackers" =>The media refers to crackers as "hackers". This Is Infinitely Annoying To Hackers! A software developer known as Eric Raymond does an excellent job of answering the question "Difference between a Hacker and a Cracker?" in his How To Become A Hacker FAQ. In it, he says, "The basic difference is that Hackers build things. And Crackers break them.” In the world of cyberspace, the difference between hacking and cracking is great. Profile of a Hacker Hackers generally like to think of themselves as an elite group of information seekers who are adept at exploring computer systems and networks. Although hacking into network computer systems is illegal, hackers believe it is ethically acceptable as long as a hacker does not commit theft, vandalism or breach any confidentiality -- the so-called hacker code of ethics. In fact, many hackers believe it is their responsibility to seek out security holes in computer networks so that systems administrators may fix them. "If we can share what we've learned with everybody and then publish it," L0pht hacker Wedge stated in a News Hour interview, "that's great." Profile of a Cracker But not all hackers follow a code of ethics. Those who break into computer systems with malicious intent are known in the hacking world as crackers. Hackers who wanted to differentiate themselves from crackers devised the word itself. Whereas hackers possess a great deal of knowledge of computers and generally write their own hacking programs, crackers tend to be young and unskilled. Jeff Schiller, head of network security at M.I.T, stated that "most of the crackers we are dealing with are not experts, they are not very sophisticated." They do most of their cracking by downloading free hacking software from hackers Web sites. Although they lack the technical skills of hackers, crackers are considered dangerous because of their irresponsible use of sophisticated software. Conclusion Although, the walnut story in the beginning was a total bummer. It will make you realize the point of the whole article. One large group becoming part of a smaller group can create havoc for all. And thats what these crackers have done. The crackers are truly the terrorists of the cyberspace and TechiWarehouse totaly believes that the Cracker community should be a very logical target in the Fight Agains Terrorism. |
Floyd Mayweather vowed that his mind was made up and he was quitting boxing after defeating Andre Berto by a landslide decision on the judges' card at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. A crowd of 13,395 witnessed Mayweather's 49th victory after a glittering 19-year career. Mayweather defeated Berto 118-110, 117-111 and 120-108 on the ringside cards. Judges gave only the seventh round to the Haitian - Mayweather appeared to take a rest over that three minute period. But he was still imperious in defense and barely shipped a punch. "You have to know when to hang it up. I'm knocking at the door; I'm close to 40 years old. 'I've been in this sport 19 years, been a world champion 18 years, broke all the records. There's nothing else to prove in the sport of boxing. "My 49-0 is part of boxing. Records are made to be broken. Hopefully, some day we can find the next Floyd Mayweather." He added: "I'm leaving the sport with all my faculties; I'm still sharp and smart." "I've accomplished everything in this sport, there's nothing left to accomplish. Money doesn't make me. I make money." Mayweather, who has made an estimated $650 million in career earnings, added: "Now it's time to spend time with my family and children, make sure they get the proper education. I also want to help the fighters under the Mayweather banner." Mayweather was rarely challenged over the 12 rounds by Berto, showing all the skill, movement, timing and adjustments which mark him out as one of the greatest of all time. But not 'The Best Ever', as he and his fans refer to him as. Source: http://nation.com.pk/sports/13-Sep-2015/mayweather-destroys-berto-in-his-last-fight |

JOSE MOURINHO was in defiant mood as he strongly defended his Chelsea team after they lost 3-1 to Everton. Jose Mourinho was in defiant mood after his team lost to Everton Steven Naismith came off the bench after nine minutes to score a hat-trick and hand Mourinho's men their third defeat of the Premier League season. It means after five games they have already equalled the number of losses they suffered last season. But Mourinho strongly defended his players, proclaiming that they are still champions. He said: "The results are going wrong. Too wrong for our quality and too wrong for our statures. "And too wrong for what the players deserve. "The players deserve much more than what they are getting. "But now it's easy for everyone to criticise me and and the players and everything is wrong and we don't play well. "I completely disagree. "I am a champion. The players are the champions. "The way they are playing is not so bad as the results but in every game everything goes against [us]." Chelsea’s troubled start to their Premier League title defence suffered a fresh blow on Friday when it emerged that goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois required surgery on a knee injury. “Courtois was injured in a training session with the goalkeepers and I cannot tell you much, but I can tell you that he needs surgery in his right knee,” Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho said. He added: “As a consequence of that he will be out for quite a long time. I cannot be at this moment more specific about the injury or the time he will be out.” The English champions will first be without the Belgium international for Saturday’s match at Everton. Chelsea have picked up only four points from their opening four games and sit eight points behind leaders Manchester City. Asmir Begovic will deputise for Courtois, who suffered the injury on Wednesday. “In this moment we lose Courtois for a long, long time — I hope it’s not long, long, just long,” added Mourinho, who will have Jamal Blackman on the bench. Oscar remains out with an undisclosed injury, but could return to contention for Wednesday’s Champions League campaign opener at home to Maccabi Tel Aviv or the following Saturday against Arsenal. “Almost there,” said Mourinho on the Brazil playmaker. CALABAR—The Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Calabar, Prof. Cyril Ndifon, accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old 400-level student in his office was yesterday suspended by the panel instituted by the school’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Ivara Esu. Professor Ndifon, who is the first professor of Law from Cross River State, was briefly arrested and detained by the police and later released on Wednesday before he was suspended yesterday evening by the panel set up to investigate him. The professor was accused by mother of the victim, Mrs. Irene Akpan, in a letter sent to the university, alleging that the incident happened between 3 and 5pm on August 29 at the dean’s private office on the top floor of the faculty building. According to the lady, Professor Ndifon forcibly had sex with her daughter after a fierce struggle. The school authorities confirmed receipt of complaints from the victim, while the police also affirmed it but was quick to add that the matter was undergoing thorough investigation. Narrating her daughter’s ordeal, Mrs Akpan explained that the dean had set a one-hour test for the students on that Saturday, assigning two lecturers to carry out the supervision. She alleged that 20 minutes to the end of allotted time, Ndifon entered the hall and ordered the students to stop writing. She said while the students were preparing to submit their answer sheets, Ndifon approached her daughter, tore her answer sheet and left the shreds on the seat. Mrs. Akpan said: “He walked straight to my daughter’s desk, collected the script and tore it. He left the torn script on her seat, so the girl collected the pieces and put them in her bag. According to her, you will still have to pass through the faculty before leaving the building. “She said as they were leaving, the dean accosted her again and asked if she still had the shredded script, she said yes. He instructed her to follow him to the general dean’s office to recopy the answers on another plain sheet, which she did.” “The unsuspecting girl followed him to the general office where two people were, including the dean’s secretary. The office of the dean is on the first floor of the building, according to my daughter. “She said while writing in that office, the dean who had earlier gone out, came in again and instructed her to follow him to his private office on the second floor so that she could comfortably use the table.” The victim’s mother said five minutes after getting to his private office, the dean locked the door, concealed the key and started making advances, adding that they struggled but Ndifon subdued her and had sex with the girl. She said her daughter was later taken to Airport Police Station, along IBB Way in Calabar, where she gave statement and also had medical examinations at the police clinic. The Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr. Effiong Eyo, said the institution was seriously looking into the matter. “A panel has been set up to look into the matter. The authorities are looking seriously into it,” Eyo said. Also, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Hogan Bassey, said the command was investigating the case. He said: “The case of rape or sexual assault requires discreet investigation and we have to handle it with care.” Source: www.vanguardngr.com/2015/09/unical-prof-suspended-over-alleged-rape-of-student |

The Presidential Amnesty office has given clarification over the delay in the payment of tuition and allowances of beneficiaries of the programme studying abroad. Retired Brig-Gen. Paul Boroh, The Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs and Chairman Presidential Amnesty Programme, made the clarification in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Abuja. He said that the relevant government agencies were working on the payments. “CBN, in conjunction with the Office of Accountant-General of the Federation is processing the required cash backing to effect the necessary foreign exchange transaction for the offshore delegation. “This is in accordance with the strict implementation of the new directive on the Single Treasury Account (TSA) being operated by the Federal Government. “Neither myself nor the Amnesty office is unmindful of the hardship that the delay in remittance of the in-training allowances has brought on the students in foreign institutions. “But we have taken the necessary steps to ensure that CBN and Accountant-General’s office release funds as soon as practicable.” Boroh said it was wrong to insinuate that he had not done anything to resolve the issues and ameliorate the plight of the students in offshore institutions. While inviting interested stakeholders to freely seek clarification on how the programme was being run, he advised his critics to do so constructively. He gave assurance that President Muhammadu Buhari was committed to sustainable development of the Niger Delta and urged the indigenes to support the Federal Government to sustain peace and security. “I urge all beneficiaries of the programme to be law-abiding and forward their complaints with details to the office. “Any beneficiary who violates the rules governing the programme will have his allowance stopped,” Boroh warned. The coordinator noted that because of the strategic place of the Niger Delta, there was the need to ensure justice, peace and security in the region at all times. Coalition of Kaduna Progressives yesterday called on the state governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai to immortalise the victims of the recent Zaria bomb explosions. The coalition who said it regretted the unfortunate incident that led to the gruesome killing of innocent law abiding and patriotic citizens while participating in a verification exercise, said immortalising the dead was not negotiable. Speaking at a press conference in Kaduna, the president of the coalition, Kibai Kwallah and secretary, Mock Kure, respectively said, the bomb blast was an act of sabotage orchestrated by the beneficiaries of the ghost workers scam. According to them, the government should leave no stone un-turned until the perpetrators of ghost workers are brought to book. “The ongoing verification exercise has so far saved the state over N128 million per-month, if that is multiplied by 12 months, the state will be saving N1.536 billion annually,” said the group. On projects, the coalition advised the state government to verify abandoned projects by the last administration and prosecute people or companies found wanting. They however concluded that the El-Rufai led administration has the interest of the majority of the citizens. Dangote Cement, Africa’s largest producer of the building material, has cut prices of cement in its home market Nigeria in an attempt to boost cement consumption. The price cuts to its 3X cement brand by N6 000 ($30.23) per metric tonne, translating to N300 reduction per 50kg bag, allows Dangote to still achieve strong returns, CEO Dangote Cement, Onne van der Weijde, said in a Lagos. Meanwhile, a survey across the country revealed that distributors and retailers are beginning to implement the new price regime, resulting in gradual decline in the price of cement across the country. A retailer in Benin City, Edo State, Sebastian Iwemgiwe, noted that the essential building which was sold at N1,850 per 50kg bag has, since last week, come down to N1,650 per bag and is likely to decline further. The claim of price reduction was corroborated by other retailers, including Opeloyeru Eniola in Ojodu area of Lagos State, who said: Although I am still selling his old stock, I am aware that the price for the next supply has been reduced. While analysts believe that the on-going African operation expansion must have given Dangote cement a leeway to bring down domestic price of the product, the cement giant is also reportedly hoping the lower prices will help increase export sales to neighbouring nations where it has no presence yet. Team head, Chapel Denham, Tajudeen Ibrahim, had in reaction to the reports of price reduction by Dangote Cement said: “We expect the other cement producers such as WAPCO, UNICEM and AshakaCem in the Lafarge Africa Group and Cement Company of Northern Nigeria, to cut cement prices, being price-takers in the industry,” “The sales volumes of the cement industry may however not rise on the back of the price cut, as the relationship between price and consumption is weak,” said Ibrahim. According to the analyst, the drag in infrastructure developments due to government’s weakening fiscal strength and pressured consumer wallets will slow down the demand for building materials, industry watchers say. Gross domestic product expanded 2.35 per cent on an annual basis, compared with 3.96 per cent a quarter earlier, according to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, (NBS). “Competition has no choice but to bring down the price because Dangote is the market leader,” said Pabina Yinkere, head of research at Lagos-based Vetiva Capital Management. The latest earnings update showed the four major players in the industry are in a growth spurt, despite the economic doldrums bedeviling consumer goods firms. Industry players expect the rapid urbanisation to increase the demand for building materials. SOURCE: leadership.ng/business/459864/dangote-cuts-cement-price-by-n300-per-bag |
CHICAGO (AFP) - A US pastor committed suicide six days after his name was exposed by hackers of the Ashley Madison adultery website, his wife told CNN on Wednesday. Canadian police have said that at least two suicides were linked to the leak of 32 million customer profiles from the Canada-based site last month. It's not clear if John Gibson's death was one of them as police released no details. Christi Gibson discovered her husband's body - and a suicide note which chronicled his demons and his shame at being exposed - on Aug 24. "He talked about depression. He talked about having his name on there, and he said he was just very, very sorry," Gibson said as their adult son and daughter sat next to her in a New Orleans studio. "Nothing is worth the loss of a father and a husband and a friend. It just didn't merit it. It didn't merit it at all." In addition to his work as a pastor, Gibson, 56, taught at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Gibson said her husband, who had struggled with depression and addiction in the past, was worried that he would lose his job. "It wasn't so bad that we wouldn't have forgiven it, and so many people have said that to us, but for John, it carried such a shame," she said. "What we know about him is that he poured his life into other people, and he offered grace and mercy and forgiveness to everyone else, but somehow he couldn't extend that to himself." Ashley Madison, launched in 2001, is known for its slogan: "Life is short. Have an affair." It helps connect people seeking to have extramarital relationships and is owned by Avid Life Media. According to authorities, the company became aware of the hack on July 12 when staff were greeted in the morning with a message on their computers threatening to leak client information unless the Ashley Madison website was "shut down immediately, permanently." The message was accompanied by rockers AC/DC's song Thunderstruck. Ashley Madison ran into more trouble when tech news site Gizmodo looked at the leaked data and concluded that it showed little if any activity from the site's purported female members, suggesting many accounts were in fact fake. Avid Life Media rejected the analysis and said the site has registered hundreds of thousands of new members - including real women - in the wake of the hack, which has garnered massive media attention. SAN FRANCISCO - Hackers targeting jail-broken iPhones have raided more than 225,000 Apple accounts, using them for app-buying sprees or to hold phones for ransom, researchers said on Tuesday. Jail-broken means modified to run apps not sanctioned by Apple. "We believe this to be the largest known Apple account theft caused by malware," computer security firm Palo Alto Networks said in an blog post. An attack using malicious code dubbed "KeyRaider" was discovered by WeipTech, an amateur technical group from Weiphone, described as one of the largest Apple fan websites in China, according to Palo Alto Networks. In July, WeipTech members began investigating reports that some people's Apple accounts were used to make unauthoriz\sed purchases or application installations. WeipTech worked with Palo Alto Networks to uncover KeyRaider. KeyRaider is being distributed through Cydia repositories in China but may be affecting users in 18 countries including France, Australia, and the United States, according to Palo Alto Networks. Cydia repositories are locations where software for jail-broken iPhones can be found and installed. KeyRaider targets Apple mobile devices that have been jail-broken, or modified to be able to run applications or other software not sanctioned by the California-based maker of iPhones, iPads, and iPods. While investigating KeyRaider, WeipTech discovered an online server with passwords and other information from more than 225,000 Apple accounts, according to Palo Alto Networks. The malicious code steals Apple account information by intercepting iTunes traffic and App Store purchase data. It can also be used to thwart users from unlocking iPhones or iPads, according to researchers. "In addition to stealing Apple accounts to buy apps, KeyRaider also has built-in functionality to hold iOS devices for ransom," Palo Alto Networks said. "It's important to remember that KeyRaider only impacts jail-broken iOS devices." SOURCE: www.bangkokpost.com/news/world/676984 |

Startup Nextbit, run by former Google and HTC executives, hit its goal of selling $500,000 worth of smartphones in a single day. Nextbit sounded a call to see who would be interested in its cloud-based smartphone, and the people have responded. The startup, run by former executives from Google and HTC, hit its Kickstarter goal of selling $500,000 worth of products in a single day. The company said that it would provide free quick chargers with every phone if it hits $1 million. "We poured our hearts and souls into this project, but because we kept everything under wraps, we really had no idea what the public reaction would be like," co-founder and CEO Tom Moss said in an e-mail. The rapid response shows there is a market for niche attempts to enter the smartphone market -- even if it is at a small scale. Unlike the traditional means of selling a product through a large carrier, Nextbit opted to use Kickstarter to drum up awareness and early orders for its smartphone, dubbed the "Robin." It's the latest company to directly go after consumers -- albeit in an extreme way through the Kickstarter crowd-sourcing method. The Robin is the first smartphone utilizing cloud storage as its key feature. While the phone has 32 gigabytes of internal storage, it will have a total of 100 GB of storage in the cloud. The phone is supposed to intelligently move off little used apps, photos, videos and other files to the cloud to ensure you always have room with your built-in storage. "This shows that customers really believe that more is possible with the cloud, and they're ready for a change," Moss said. "And they're ready to buy phones in a new way."
