THE LAGOS – IBADAN RAIL LINE

1/ The Federal Government of Nigeria is building a standard gauge rail line linking Lagos and Ibadan.

It is part of President Buharis vision to connect all 36 States in Nigeria by Rail.

2/ The 158km double-track line starts from the Apapa Port, Nigeria’s busiest, and ends in Ibadan, capital of Oyo State.

It has ten stations in total: Apapa Port, Lagos, Agege, Agbado, Kajola, Papalanto, Abeokuta, Olodo, Omi Adio and Ibadan.

3/ The project is part of the Lagos-Kano Rail Line that will form the Western Section of Nigerias National Standard Gauge Rail Network.

Negotiations for the funding of the project kicked off following President Buhari’s State Visit to China in 2016.

4/ The construction was flagged off by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in March 2017.
Track-laying commenced in 2018. An average of 2km of track are being laid per day.

5/ The scheduled completion date for the project is December 2018 / Q1 2019

The Train Service will run at speeds of between 120 and 150 km/hour.

6/ The Project is providing employment to thousands of Nigerians.

Upon completion, work will commence on the Kano-Kaduna leg of the Western Line.

7/ And then the Ibadan-Kaduna leg, to complete the Western Line.

Future Lines include the Eastern (Port Harcourt – Maiduguri), Central Line (Abuja-Warri) and Coastal Line (Lagos- Calabar).

YBTC NEWS-Unarguably, one can say President Muhammadu Buhari is one of the most loved leaders Africa has ever produced. Apart from Nelson Mandela of South Africa who selflessly served his nation simultaneously-loved and adored by his people, I think PMB should be next in the clique of naturally loved leaders in Africa.

Also, other trekkers in the league of trekking fever, followed suit; trekking across different parts of the country to mark the overwhelming victory of President Buhari.

That wasn’t all, after the inauguration of the President; some issues of Cabal hijacking the administration of Buhari ensued.

Infact, the whole issue of cabals was lit globally by the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari during an interview with BBC Hausa in London.

Then, came the issue of concerning the President’s health which took him out of the country for about 103 days. To show the extent of the love President Muhammadu Buhari enjoys in the country, various mosques and churches dedicated some prayer hours to pray for his health and his safe return.

It was even supported with some sorts of fasting by some loyalists in seeking for the President’s good health.

Going down memory lane, after his safe return from London where he received medical attention, his plane landed in Kaduna as a result of the renovation of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. That is not the case, but, the mammoth crowd that received this man (Buhari) in Kaduna showed another display of natural love by the people. I personally viewed a clip that showed volumes of people....

Sanusi while cautioning the President on his proposed bid to borrow a whooping $30b loan, said with only two years remaining in office, there’s no way the Buhari administration can pay back that huge debt.
Apparently concerned by the President’s move, Sanusi said “Let me make this issue clear, I will be happy if they get the loan to invest in the power sector, energy and road,”
He however questioned saying, “If we cannot raise $2 billon in two years and you want to borrow $30 billion in two years to the end of the life of the administration. The government should rather pay more attention to investment and support the private sectors to grow the economy”.
Speaking further he said, “The economy that has five exchange rates can’t borrow $30 billion. They can’t lend you the $30 billion when you have five foreign exchange rates and with the current bombing of oil pipelines by the Niger Delta militants. So, on which foreign exchange rate can you get the loan?”
He laments the nation’s foreign exchange saying it lacked credibility, thus federal government needed to embrace private sector investments as means to grow the economy out of recession.

Good evening Nairalanders . My parents applied for for indefinite leave to remain in the tier of 20 years continuous stay in UK. So sometime last week the home office contacted them asking them for their biometrics. So my question is would they been granted ? What are their chances.
