One year after the fuel subsidy protests, when you look back, would you say the protests achieved their goals?
When there are clear goals and objectives for anymovement or protest, then you have the opportunity of judging whether those goals are attained or accomplished. We didn’t just rush out; if you recall, the increase in petrol pump price took place on January 1, 2012. Like a sadist, the President gave us a cause to be sorrowful on the first day of the year; even those who didn’t even have vehicles of their own and had to pay through their noses to move from one place to the other. The Save Nigeria Group sat down to analyse the situation and joined the protest in Ojota with its allies. There were pockets of protests here and there; there was a general strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress; then we sat down and set the objectives clearly: that the increase in pump price was not our problem but corruption. We saidthe time had come for us to educate and enlighten our citizens and unblock their minds as to the root cause of the continuous increase in petrol pump price all the time and the affliction and oppression inflicted on the people of this country. That’s why we came out with the watchword, “Kill Corruption and not Nigerians.” And I leave it to you as journalists to see whether or not we accomplished our objectives because immediately we began to hammer that, probe after probe, live on television came out. There is no Nigerian anywhere in this country and in the Diaspora that does not know that filthiness is in our garments. Corruption is the bane and we haveunmasked the masquerade.
It was alleged that you led the protest because your party lost the election to the President’s party.
You cannot tell clueless people not to reason wrongly. Did all the people who participated in that protest run for an election? All the musicians that came there, all the artistes that came there without taking a penny from us, did they run for any election? And even if you are going to judge me that it was because you rigged an election that you said we lost, that led to the protest, did I ask you to increase the pump price? And if you are to judge me, judge me by my overall character; did I stand for you when you were being oppressed, Mr. President? Was I a politician when we led and took to the streets in Abuja and Lagos where we stood against every form of oppression and injustice because injustice to one is injustice to all? Were we sponsored by politicians when we took to the streets in January, 2010 after the prolonged illness of (Umaru) Yar’Adua? You can’t help people who don’t engage their brain to think; they are entitled to their opinion. But let me tell you the truth, there was no political motivation of any kind to that protest. We rose to protest an injustice being meted out to a people deserving not only respect, but those whose welfare should be the primary concern of a good government. Everybody is aware now that somebody is watching somebody. With all the exposure of corruption in high places, everyone is careful and they are so scared. In spite of threatening to increase the price of PMS, they couldn’t, although they are doing it illegally by allowing people to sell at any price they like. But it is still illegal and that is why I dared them three days ago to come out and increase the petrol price without cushioning the effect and providing alternative for the people. They will know that it is for the dog to wag the tail, not the tail to wag the dog; people will tell them enough is enough.
Don’t you think that 2015 is still far away for campaigning to have started?
They have signalled the campaign by going to kneel down before Pastor Adeboye (General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God). See, I am not saying that pastors should not pray for presidents, that man was representing an office; a whole nation crumbling before men of God because of political advantage they think they can get. And if the prayer will bail him out, let us wait and see. The truth is who is preparing for 2015, which faction of the PDP? Is it the (Olusegun) Obasanjo faction? Or IBB faction? Or Jonathan faction? The governors’ faction? Because PDP is a house divided against itself; it’s a chicken that has begun to eat its own intestines. By going to kneel down in the open before the pastor, the man (Jonathan) did not even recognise the dignity of his office. If it were a private thing, it is okay for you to crawl or kneelbut it is a whole nation. That office has been diminished by a man who does not know the worth of it and does not deserve to stay there for one more day.
What then should be the role of religious leaders like you in the affairs of the nation?
I am not a religious leader. I don’t believe in religion; religion is deadly. Jesus Christ did not start a religion here. He began a relationship withGod. Let’s separate the two. Religious leaders don’t think any more, they lose their brain. Paul said, I speak the words of truth and reason. What is the impact of the church in this country other than to pray for men who have stolen the treasury and wealth of the nation and coming back to give us different kinds of gifts; giving us jets and all kinds of things that will silence us so that we cannot speak the truth to power? I know the church that Jesus Christ is building will continue to wax stronger but this synagogue of Satan will fold up soon. I hate religion with passion.
How will you assess the Jonathan administration so far?
Under Jonathan’s leadership, Nigeria as a whole has become a titanic ship on sail to hit the icebergand sink. Right-thinking people must rise to rescue the helm of that ship from his (Jonathan’s) hand before he wrecks the entire nation. We have promoted men who have no mental capacity to do what we ask them to do. At a meeting we had on Monday to mark the anniversary of the protest, the Chairman of Punch Editorial Board brought this to my consciousness by describing leadership of Nigeria as inept. He said we have put men who have been promoted beyond their mental capacity in position. That is our problem.
Many people believe that the PDP has become an albatross to Nigerians and that is why there is a clamour for an alliance among the opposition parties in order to wrest power from the ruling party. What do you think has been hampering such alliance?
You have put me on the spot and I will only be truthful. In order to steer the ship of Nigeria aright, there must be a handshake across the Niger; between the North and the South. But it must be of like minds; the best of the North and the best of the South. How that will take place is a function of many factors. An alliance is not the way forward. In a presidential system of government, there is no opposition; it’s winner takes all. If the party in power has a majority in the National Assembly, they don’t need anybody. That is the weakness of the presidential system of government. Each time they talk of opposition, I think we are so much inundated by our past experience with the parliamentary system wherethe prime minister can be removed from the parliament and nothing will happen because the system allows it. But the presidential system doesnot brook any opposition, except only when they don’t have the majority. I think the way forward is a merger of all the so-called opposition parties especially the Action Congress of Nigeria, All Nigeria Peoples Party and the Congress for Progressive Change. But I realised recently when the ACN said PDP is a party of rogues and thieves and criminals, the PDP replied that there are more criminals in the ACN than the PDP and there was no response thereafter. I read all that in the newspapers. If there is going to be a merger, between who and who-between rogues and criminals? Can light and darkness co-exist? Let’s pray that men and women of goodwill will rise and do the needful. However, having said all that,I am of the firm belief and conviction that there will be no election in 2015. I am of the firm belief that this house of cards will collapse before 2015.As it is now, what we have does not have what it takes to drag Nigeria along; and anything can happen anytime from now. And I pray that it would be what would be for the benefit of the entire nation. Each time we have spoken that way, some have thought we are calling for the military to take over. What did the military do for the nation before? Don’t let me be misunderstood, except we have a kind of Jehu revolution, where the worshippers of bell and theworshippers of the altar of greed are all dealt with as it happened in Ghana. Then, there may besome hope there. Our people may revolt, which can happen so unexpectedly. Remember what happened when the Shah of Iran ran away from that country and the Arab Spring? It would be worse here because they have pushed people beyond limit. Look at the level of insecurity, daylight robbery; you are coming out of the church and they are pointing a gun at you. North is not safe, there is Boko Haram; South-East is not safe, there is kidnapping; South is not safe, there is pipeline vandalism. And fire is now ravaging everywhere. People have been pushed beyond limit and there may be a people’s revolt. Beyond this, there is God almighty, who may say the cries of the people have come up to Him, enough is enough.
When you as a man of God says there will be no election in 2015, is that as a result of a vision or what?
Leave that to me but by the time this nation is 100 years old in 2014, God will answer the prayer of the people of God and there will be a new beginning. The madness that is going on everywhere now is that God is hardening the heart of Pharaoh.
The President warned a few days ago against statements that could destabilise the country such as this.
Is the nation not destabilised already? What havewe said that will destabilise the country? Let’s call a spade a spade and not an agricultural implement.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo also warned against a revolution recently going by the way things are going…
He said the truth but he would be the first victim that it would consume because he caused the problem; by forcing the weak and the sick on the nation. A few days ago, Adamu Ciroma came out to say that Obasanjo knew that the late Umaru Yar’Adua was sick. Just wait, the result is about tohappen. He did that as a way of revenging on Nigeria for the collapse of his third term agenda but Obasanjo will be the first victim of the revolution. I presented a lecture on Sunday that Obasanjo had the greatest opportunity to put Nigeria in proper shape and to leave a legacy for generations unborn. But he chose not to do that. I had the privilege of launching a book in honour of a venerable man, Chief Akin Olugbade, an Owu, to mark his centenary birthday if he were alive. I said Owu as a kingdom had produced angels in human flesh like the late Akin Olugbade, whose generosity and philanthropy benefitted a person like me. I went there to say that this is a return on investment and I gave the little that I had. If Obasanjo dares, let both of us walk through Itoku Market in Abeokuta even as an Owu man without any aide, or the streets of Sokoto among the almajiris. That is why I told them that Owu kingdom has produced angels anddemons such as Obasanjo, who incidentally is called Ebora Owu. Ebora means demon and demons are to be exorcised. Our job is to cast out demons of Owu and that we would do by God’s grace.
How do you see the rift between Obasanjo and Jonathan; probably Obasanjo has realised his mistakes and now thinks it is better to fight on the side of the people?
Obasanjo does not realise anything. I think Jonathan has surpassed him in misgovernance and he is frightened. It is only a thief that knows the footprint of another thief on a rock. How did he come by his big house? How much was Obasanjo worth when he left the prison, how much is he worth now? How did he come about his big investments? How much was he paid as President of Nigeria. Let him explain. What we have is a government of crooks by crooks.
In the last election, you tried politics. What shouldwe expect now?
I didn’t try politics. I was invited to assist a personwhom I thought was a honest man and would be surrounded by good people and then we would fight corruption. That was the only reason. I was a running mate; I wasn’t a member of any party. I was invited but I am back in my element to keep doing what I am doing. That ended there; if the opportunity comes to serve my country in any capacity, I will but I am not forming any party.
What did you see in Maj.-Gen.Mohammadu Buharibefore you joined him?
His integrity and his anti-corruption stance stood him out. He is the only head of state alive who made the public statement that in his entire public service career, as a governor, as a commissioner (now minister), as a commandant of different army formations and as a head of state, he never touched one penny in the public treasury; that he can account for everything God has given him. His mother’s house was built through a loan both in Daura and in Kaduna. The one in Lagos, he had to sell to fund the one he took a loan to build in Abuja because he didn’t know how to steal. He is very forthright and honest; that’s all I saw and if we can surround such a man with people who have the capability and the capacity to run the state and the treasury is safe and there is no more stealing and Nigeria is no longer haemorrhaging, we can salvage it. That was why we assembled a change team that we thought would be allowed but they rigged the election.
Some people believe that if somebody like you becomes the President of Nigeria, there will be more evidence of despotic actions in governance. How would you react to this?
The only way to judge that is to come to a church I have headed for more than 20 years and see whether there is any evidence of despotism. Thenyou come to my house and see my wife and children to see if there is an evidence of despotic actions. I am not a despot and in fact, how can you be a despot in a democratic setting? Don’t forget I am a trained lawyer; I would not violate the rule of law. No true leader should be a despot.
Apart from corruption, security is another challenge facing the country and the Presidency has had to change the head of police several times because of this. So far, how would you assess the present IG, Muhammed Abubakar?
There is nobody you put there who can accomplish anything about insecurity because thefish starts smelling from the head. If you say corruption is not the problem, what leads to insecurity if not corruption? The IG can give ordersbut the men at the toll gates and roadblocks are there to perpetuate corruption. Corruption and violence are Siamese twins and in Genesis, God said He was grieved in His heart that He created man, that the earth was corrupt and there was violence everywhere. You can’t find corruption and not see violence. I do not approve of what Boko Haram is doing but if you grant amnesty to those who were vandalising the pipelines because of fighting for what they claimed was legitimately theirs, and Boko Haram are saying their governors are not taking care of them, who are you to judge them? Why have they not been able to fix the problem?
But it has always been argued that Boko Haram isfaceless and so it would be difficult to engage its elements…
Boko Haram faceless and yet Obasanjo met with them? I don’t know them but the President of Nigeria said Boko Haram members were in his cabinet. Who are those he alleged were in his cabinet, are they ghosts? What led to the removalof the late Gen. (Andrew) Azazi as National Security Adviser? They are totally insincere. Thereis PDP Boko Haram. Let them not fool you. They arrested some people in Jos and elsewhere, why have they not been able to prosecute anyone with all the arrests? Do you think it is the Boko Haram that started in the Borno area that are the ones planting sophisticated bombs everywhere now? Please let’s think; there is security Boko Haram, there is political Boko Haram and there is criminal Boko Haram.
Recently the government came out to say electricity has improved a bit but the way you are talking, it’s like it has not done anything.
If a man told me a lie yesterday and I believed him but it turned out to be false; and he told me alie a day before, how long am I to continue to believe him? Nigerians have been told of improved electricity in recent months but how many parts of the country have you travelled to? They are putting electricity where you make noise so that you don’t bother them. I still burn diesel in my house everyday up till now and my budget for diesel both in the church and in my house has increased with all the noise they are making. And by the way, how much have they invested in electricity generation and how much electricity have they produced?
But the government has been trying to put electricity generation into private hands for improvement.
I have had the opportunity of living in both Britain and America for six years each and I never met the electricity officials. All I had to do was to pay my bills; that was all. All the privatisation noise they are making is fraught with deep-seated corruption. They sell everything to themselves. They have been mentioning privatisation when I was still in my mother’s womb. Once upon a time, there was ECN and there was stable electricity. They are insincere and they sell everything to themselves.
How do you see the politicking involved in the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway project, where a lot of lives have been lost? Soon after the contract was withdrawn from Dr.Wale Babalakin, he was arrested for alleged money laundering.
Evil is self-destruct. That’s all I see there. If Babalakin is being tried for something, the question is, is it true? If it is false, then the trial will fall on its face. I have told you that it is only the thief that knows how to trace the footsteps ofanother on a rock. They know what they are doing. If you remain in our camp and you don’t attack us, you remain our friend. Babalakin used to be the solicitor for Obasanjo, have they fallen out? Was there anything between Babalakin and the minister and is there a fall out? But the truth is, can they come and revoke a contract that I have not seen or can they come and charge me for money laundering? My accounts are in the open and if you access them, you will see that it has been regular. And every business I have done,I have gone to the banks for legitimate loans and I have paid back those loans. If you have done no evil, you need not fear no evil. So, if Babalakin has done no evil, no evil will befall him. But if he has done it, then let him find a way of reaching out to them before they wreck him completely because they are vicious. What is going on on thatroad is the failure of the entire nation. Leadershiphas failed Nigerians. That is the main road that connects the South and the North and any serious government should have done something about it. I am aware that the South-West governors showed an interest and met with the President but I don’t know why they were not allowed to do it. There is more to it than we ordinary citizensknow.
As kinsmen, people would expect a kind of rapport between you and Obasanjo but you are one of his critics. Is there something personal?
Apart from answering questions about him in interviews, I don’t think or talk about him at all because he does not even occur in my thinking. If Obasanjo is my kinsman, does it mean that if he does evil, I should keep quiet? I have no personal hatred for him. Let me tell you something, I don’t know whether he knows but I am saying the truth and it can be verified. When he was in prison, one of the pastors that went to minister tohim, I sent him. He was a member of our network.When he was in prison, two of his children were brought here because their school fees could not be paid by one of his wives, I paid the fees. I havenothing against him.
On a personal note, do you at times regret leavingthe pulpit and venturing into politics?

“When I got home that night as my wife served dinner, I held her hand and said, I’ve got something to tell you. She sat down and ate quietly. Again I observed the hurt in her eyes.
... Suddenly I didn’t know how to open my mouth. But I had to let her know what I was thinking. I want a divorce. I raised the topic calmly. She didn’t seem to be annoyed by my words, instead she asked me softly, why?
I avoided her question. This made her angry. She threw away the chopsticks and shouted at me, you are not a man! That night, we didn’t talk to each other. She was weeping. I knew she wanted to find out what had happened to our marriage. But I could hardly give her a satisfactory answer; she had lost my heart to Jane. I didn’t love her anymore. I just pitied her!
With a deep sense of guilt, I drafted a divorce agreement which stated that she could own our house, our car, and 30% stake of my company. She glanced at it and then tore it into pieces. The woman who had spent ten years of her life with me had become a stranger. I felt sorry for her wasted time, resources and energy but I could not take backwhat I had said for I loved Jane so dearly. Finally she cried loudly in front of me, which was what I had expected to see. To me her cry was actually a kind of release. The idea of divorce which had obsessed me for several weeks seemed to be firmer and clearer now.
The next day, I came back home very late and found her writing something at the table. I didn’t have supper but went straight to sleep and fell asleep very fast because I was tired after an eventful day with Jane. When I woke up, she was still there at the table writing. I just did not care so I turned over and was asleep again.
In the morning she presented her divorce conditions: she didn’t want anything from me, but needed a month’s notice before the divorce. She requested that in that one month we both struggle to live as normal a life as possible. Her reasons were simple: our son hadhis exams in a month’s time and she didn’t want to disrupt him with our broken marriage.
This was agreeable to me. But she had something more, she asked me to recall how I had carried her into out bridal room on our wedding day. She requested that every day forthe month’s duration I carry her out of our bedroom to the front door ever morning. I thought she was going crazy. Just to make our last days together bearable I accepted her oddrequest.
I told Jane about my wife’s divorce conditions. .She laughed loudly and thought it was absurd. No matter what tricks she applies, she has to face the divorce, she said scornfully.
My wife and I hadn’t had any body contact since my divorce intention was explicitly expressed. So when I carried her out on the first day, we both appeared clumsy. Our son clapped behind us, daddy is holding mommy inhis arms. His words brought me a sense of pain. From the bedroom to the sitting room, then to the door, I walked over ten meters with her in my arms. She closed her eyes and said softly; don’t tell our son about the divorce.I nodded, feeling somewhat upset. I put her down outside the door. She went to wait for the bus to work. I drove alone to the office.
On the second day, both of us acted much moreeasily. She leaned on my chest. I could smell the fragrance of her blouse. I realized that I hadn’t looked at this woman carefully for a long time. I realized she was not young any more. There were fine wrinkles on her face, her hair was graying! Our marriage had taken its toll on her. For a minute I wondered what I had done to her.
On the fourth day, when I lifted her up, I felt a sense of intimacy returning. This was the woman who had given ten years of her life to me. On the fifth and sixth day, I realized that our sense of intimacy was growing again. I didn’t tell Jane about this. It became easier to carry her as the month slipped by. Perhaps the everyday workout made me stronger.
She was choosing what to wear one morning. She tried on quite a few dresses but could not find a suitable one. Then she sighed, all my dresses have grown bigger. I suddenly realized that she had grown so thin, that was the reason why I could carry her more easily.
Suddenly it hit me… she had buried so much pain and bitterness in her heart. Subconsciously I reached out and touched her head.
Our son came in at the moment and said, Dad, it’s time to carry mom out. To him, seeing his father carrying his mother out had become an essential part of his life. My wife gestured to our son to come closer and hugged him tightly. I turned my face away because I was afraid I might change my mind at this last minute. I then held her in my arms, walking from the bedroom, through the sitting room, to the hallway. Her hand surrounded my neck softly and naturally. I held her body tightly; it was just like our wedding day.
But her much lighter weight made me sad. On the last day, when I held her in my arms I couldhardly move a step. Our son had gone to school. I held her tightly and said, I hadn’t noticed that our life lacked intimacy. I drove tooffice…. jumped out of the car swiftly without locking the door. I was afraid any delay would make me change my mind…I walked upstairs. Jane opened the door and I said to her, Sorry, Jane, I do not want the divorce anymore.
She looked at me, astonished, and then touched my forehead. Do you have a fever? She said. I moved her hand off my head. Sorry, Jane, I said, I won’t divorce. My marriage life was boring probably because she and I didn’t value the details of our lives, not because we didn’t love each other anymore. Now I realize that since I carried her into my home on our wedding day I am supposed to hold her until death do us apart. Jane seemed to suddenly wake up. She gave me a loud slap and then slammed the door and burst into tears. I walked downstairs and drove away. At the floral shop on the way, I ordered a bouquet of flowers for my wife. The salesgirl asked me what to write on the card. I smiled and wrote, I’ll carry you out every morning until death do us apart.
That evening I arrived home, flowers in my hands, a smile on my face, I run up stairs, only to find my wife in the bed -dead. My wife had been fighting CANCER for months and I was so busy with Jane to even notice. She knew that she would die soon and she wanted to save me from the whatever negative reaction from our son, in case we push through with the divorce.— At least, in the eyes of our son—- I’m a loving husband….
The small details of your lives are what really matter in a relationship. It is not the mansion, the car, property, the money in the bank. Thesecreate an environment conducive for happiness but cannot give happiness in themselves.
So find time to be your spouse’s friend and do those little things for each other that build intimacy. Do have a real happy marriage!

Namadi Sambo's Aide, Mallam Umar Sani Marries Nkiru Sylvanus As Second Wife
Few days after she was released from kidnappersden, Nollywood actress and Special Assistant on Public Affairs to Governor Rochas Okorocha of ImoState, Nkiru Sylvanus got married to her long time heartthrob secretly, yemoja can exclusively revealed.
The man who swept the actress feet is the media spokesman of Vice President Namadi Sambo, Mallam Umar Sani. Our sources revealed that the wedding which held two weeks ago was given a media blackout and attended by handful of family members.
Yemoja gathered that the wedding was made hush-hush because of the media attention that greeted the kidnapping of the actress and because the VP’s media man has a wife already which will make Nkiru his second wife.

The actress was released about a week after, though there were unconfirmed reports that a ransom was paid.
One of the Vice President’s Spokesman’s friends confirmed the marriage and told yemojanews that, “it is not for public knowledge”.
We learnt Nkiru and Umar Sani had been dating for a while and it was Sani, who got the political appointment for the actress in Imo State.
“Umar Sani and Rochas Okorocha are close friends. Umar facilitated Nkiru’s appointment in Imo State. You know Nkiru is from Abia State and not Imo”, our source declared.

Ondo state governor, Olusegun Mimiko
The Commissioner of Transport in Ondo State, Nicholas Tofowomo, went to a different ministry -the Ministry of Works- and slapped a director there, Ondo State civil servants have alleged. Staffers of the Ondo State Ministry of Works on Monday staged a protest to register their displeasure over the alleged assault of a Director in the Ministry by Mr. Tofowomo.
Mr. Tofowomo was said to have slapped one M.J. Afeniforo, the Director Mechanical of the Works Ministry, during an argument between the two men. Sources said the commissioner had approached Mr. Afeniforo for a tractor but he was told that all the tractors owned by the works ministry were being used for different projects. The director reportedly explained to the commissioner that even the Commissioner for Works, Gboye Adegbenro, who has authority to release the tractor was at Ilara Mokin where he was inspecting road projects. The source said Mr. Tofowomo called his counterpart at the Ministry of Works on the telephone, telling him that Mr. Afeniforo said the works minister had diverted allthe tractors to his home town. An argument ensued during which the commissioner allegedly slapped the director for arguing with him, an attitude, the source in the ministry said has been the commissioner’s habit.
Leaders of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress converged on the premises of the ministry to protest the assault on Mr. Afeniforo. The quick intervention of the Chairmanof the Joint Negotiation Council, Solomon Adelegan, prevented the crisis from degeneratingas he persuaded the workers against taking laws into their hands. The Head of Service, Kosemani Kolawole, has invited the assaulted director and the permanent secretary of ministry to a meeting to address the issues. The workers have, however, vowed to deal with the commissioner.
Efforts to reach Mr. Tofowomo were unsuccessful as he did not pick or return calls made to his phone.

Nigeria’s First Lady, Patience Jonathan, has been flown out to Germany on another emergency.
This development comes less than 24 hours after SaharaReporters revealed she was billed to depart for Spain to attend to her health.
Medical sources in Abuja said Mrs. Jonathan had to be flown out earlier than expected due to new health concerns overnight.
The urgent nature of her departure for Germany led to cancellation of her appearance at a presidential event 6:00 PM where the present hosted foreign Ambassadors to Nigeria.
There is no official word from the presidency regarding her trip and her principal media aide Ayo Osinlu told SaharaReporters by phone that he couldn’t tell of her movements because he was not in Abuja at the moment.
In August 2012, Mrs. Jonathan was airlifted to Wiesbaden, Germany, where she spent several weeks for an undisclosed ailment.
The presidency did not confirm her condition or whereabouts. She returned to Nigeria on October 14, and denied having been hospitalized in Germany, or for a terminal
condition.
“I don’t even know that hospital they are talking about,” she said. “I do not have any terminal illness or cosmetic surgery.”

The day I saw the reactions to Tonto Dikeh’s first singles which she released last year, I was a sad man. I mean the songs were horrible. I listen to horrible songs all day so Tonto’s lack of talent didn’t move me. It was the reaction of people that made me sad.

For a whole day, productive people took time out to diss, laugh, criticize and mock Nigeria’s most controversial actress. That therein was the greatest mistake ever made. By making her trend worldwide, you lot gave an irrelevant individual so much free promo that she has the unbelievable record of having the most downloads for a Nigerian artiste (yikes you people even made her an artiste!). This here lies my problem with the uber-cool Twitter crowd and in general the online music community. Y’all give too much attention to artistes who don’t have the talent and artistry. Oh yeah sure, they can ‘famz’ the likes of Bez, Asa, Praiz and gush about how they are on the same wavelength with their favourite rock band in Europe or an indie singer in America. What they will not do is give the same attention they would to a Tonto Dikeh or Shina Rambo when these talented singers release new singles and albums. Think I am lying? When has Bez, Praiz or Asa trended worldwide? Don’t they have the talent and creativity to trend even in Africa? Sadly when the untalented come out with their works, it’s free promo and hype galore, something they will never do for more deserving acts.

Some of you might say that the attention poured on these acts are negative. Yeah true, the tweets, vile comments, pictures and posts aren’t positive. However let me give you a newsflash. In today’s world, publicity is publicity, whether negative positive or even neutral. Tonto Dikeh is now as popular as a Tiwa Savage musically not because of her wack songs but because you people made her relevant with the unnecessary attention you put on her. Same thing with Sina Rambo. This obviously untalented rapper trended for two dayswith the #SinaRamboBars. It was funny then but who doesn’t know Sina Rambo now? Obviously there are more talented rappers in the game but you all decided to give all the attention and hype to Sina Rambo. By mocking these acts you are making them relevant. And this is the dangerous part; all they need is a stroke of luck to get that hit and GBAM! all the negative energy will switch into glowing comments and before you know it we have a star on our hands.

With the millions of negative comments about her, Tonto Dikeh has stepped into the realm of relevancy. Artistes have started referencing her insongs. With Olamide’s new freestyle named after her, the hate (love) is far from over.

For those laughing at Tonto Dikeh, be wise she is playing you. She will keep doing things and dropping songs that will make you talk about her. Then when she has the attention of you so called ‘better people’ she will drop a song that will be worthy enough to call ‘good’. Then what are you going to do next? You’ve already released the cat from the bag, she’s your monster deal with it. The song with Terry G ‘Crazically Fit’ was a close call. Her next song might hit the spot and when it does, a lot of talented female singers will struggle to get shows. Mark my words.

You can point accusing fingers at bloggers for putting up her stuff. It’s cool, we do. Let me tell you a secret, bloggers will put up any material that will guarantee them traffic. Before Tonto dropped her songs, the hype was epic from the Twitter crowd. A sharp blogger won’t pass on the opportunity to put the songs up. Predictably traffic was high thanks to you lot who did Tonto’s work for her. It’s not easy being a blogger, we all need traffic. We want to hammer like our Aunty Linda and when you bring a wack artiste from obscurity into the realm of relevancy we will put it up. Traffic is what we sell, don’t get it twisted. Guess what? When her video drops, we will be here to post ‘cos you won’t stop ranting and raving about it.

You might be reading this and feeling angry or upset. It’s your ego fxcking with you. The truth is a bitter pill to swallow. Next time when an artiste in the mold of a Tonto Dikeh and Sina Rambo come out the best thing to do is ignore. That is just the simple solution. If you ignore them, they won’t exist. When nobody talks about them, they become irrelevant. Ashamed of their lack of talent and buzz, they will crawl back into their caves never to disturb our ears anymore. As simple as it is, it is hard for some of you to do just that. You must rant and rave so you can be noticed. The sad part is the person you are ranting and raving about will be noticed too. Who is the mumu at the end of the day?

Ever since we were born, we have been hearing these very words 'things are going to get better'. Every new government comes in and claims to be better than the last with that same promise 'things are going to get better'.
So far in this country, things have moved from badto worse and still sliding downwards with the seeming bad predecessors being rated better than the newcomers who came into power full of promise.
The level of decay in this country has reached far disturbing levels as one of the richest countries in the world is filled with many of the poorest people on earth. God blessed this country far morethan most. Sometimes I see Nigeria as the most naturally blessed country in the world as we can boost of almost every natural resources or minerals in the face of the world. Why then are we in such pitiable state? Why then are we almost a laughing-stock even to fellow African nations who clearly should be begging from us? Why then are our sons and daughters fleeing fromNigeria to lesser countries where they will be treated like second-class citizens and regarded with suspicion and disdain?
Some years ago, a national question was asked during the administration of Fmr. President Olusegun Obasanjo; 'can you die for Nigeria?' Was the question. It didn't come to a surprise to anyone except our leaders, that no sane Nigerian was ready to give his life for Nigeria. The questionI ask is, what impact have those who died for this country made? Many have sacrificed their lives in one form or the other for the good of this country, our founding fathers risked imprisonment, harrassment, torture and death that we may haveour independence, that we may be free. So far it seems that freedom still eludes the generality of Nigerians as this country keeps getting worse each passing day and our leaders still dependent of Western influence and dictates as they experiment with policies that work in the West onus compounding our problems and making life harder for us while they enjoy the wealth of this nation as if it is their singluar birth rights.
Last year, our 'god-sent' President Goodluck Jonathan gave us a rude shock for New Year present; the removal of fuel subsidy. People shouted and protested but our leaders know who they are ruling even better than we know ourselves and they know that unlike places like Tunisia or Egypt, the Nigerian is only full of hot air and after making noise will still bow to their dictates. They were also confident that they couldas always handle NLC and TUC since the likes of Oshomole was no longer there. After a brief period of protest when people predicted the end of the entity call Nigeria, Labour was manoeuvredand brought over to the side of government and the policy was implimented.
Some of the notable promises made to Nigerians were that buses would be procured and disperssed to all the states to ease transport costs.Unless this is operational in other states which I doubt, there has not been any single bus of that sort in Imo State. What then happened to the money we were told had already been given to procure those buses? Probably ended up in some people's pockets. And we say we are fighting corruption.
Government said that refineries will be operational within six months and the cost of fuel will gradually reduce but so far it is more than a year after that promise and yet not a single refinary is working and fuel price keeps rising higher than the official pump-price causing more suffering to the common Nigerian.
Proponents for the removal of subsidy claimed that it would bring about many jobs for the youths, why then am I still unemployed? Why then are many Nigerians unemployed? Why then are we still struggling to source capital for ourselves to start one business or the other to survive as government haven't provided a form of independent and uncorrupt means of providing micro-finance for the unemployed Nigerian youths? Yet every day we hear that so-so billions from the subsidy fund was used, for what we do not know. And we say we are fighting corruption.
Many of our leaders, even those who the people believed will make life better for them so far have turned out to be failures because rather than taking us forward, they have only succeeded in taking us further backwards.
For a government sincerely interested in bettering the lives of Nigerians, the amount of money earmarked for refreshment in Aso Rock alone would have ensured over one million Nigerian youths have something gainful doing all sponsered by their government. The amount spend on jet fuel and international refreshment by our leaders will ensure more development andprovide millions of jobs for young Nigerians but alas, it seems our cries is music to their ears. The sitting allowance of our legislators who claim to care for us so much can develop their individual constituensies but they do not care as long as theyare pocketing all that money and even the monies supposedly given to them to develop theirareas which all of them seem to have agreed to concert into their personal development funds from where they buys houses abroad and live likekings while we suffer. That a Nigerian youth felt so bad at the loss of his okada, his only source of income which he hadn't even completed paymenton that he was forced to take his own life is a big shame to our leaders. But then, do they care? As long as their pockets are filled with monies meant for you and I, what do they care if all of us jump to our deaths in a lagoon?
Every day the government talks big about fightingcorruption yet the only ones arrested by EFCC or ICPC are the lowly yahoo-yahoo boys or politicians who refuse to play ball. You can imagine that it took a foriegn country, Britain to try and sentence Ibori to prison after a Nigerian court had acquited him of corruption charges. Who is fooling who?
The many flaws of the present administration of President Goodluck Jonathan as well as many of the 'messiah' governors are there for everyone to decide where it affects you the most. Apart from the fear Gen. Buhari turning Nigeria into a full Islamic state as he had during his regime as military head-of-state registered us as one, many have wished they voted him instead of Uncle Joe. Even in many states, people now regret why the voted in certian leaders who have now turned outto be disappointments ­. But then, will you vote really have counted?
The level of illiteracy and lack in the country has now made us hail and praise our leaders when they give us tit-bits without realizing that they are looting us dry. We no longer know that it is our right to have good roads so when a leader gives us substandard roads we praise them while they laugh at our ignorance. Our schools are ill-equipped and someone claims he is giving you free education and we are jumping while their children are in well-equipped schools in Europe and America. We have forgotten that it is our rightto have quality education with good schools. Evenour security as common citizens is not guranteed as our leaders surround themselves with the best of security and use them to bully us out of their way when they come speeding with siren-blaring jeeps trucks. The ill-equipped policemen left to guard us are only busy extorting money from us atany oppurtunity they get with the blessings of ourleaders.
When will we have a leader with the people at heart? Will we ever have that in this lifetime? Many have died hoping to see that crop of leaders. Are we going to be any lucky? Somebody said and I tend to bend favorable to that suggestion that all these are signs that the end of time is near. Some believe that all this is the ploy of the devil to give us bad leaders so that when his anti-christ steps in as our 'messiah', we will wholeheartedly accept whoever he send. There seem to be some sense in that to explain the levelof heartlessness of our leaders. Others believe that it's all about power and the forces that comeswith it that can turn a good-intentione ­d man bad once they get into the seat of power. Some other believe it is sheer greed and wickedness that can make someone steal billions of naira without any regard of the suffering they are causing. That this level of decay and poverty exists in a great and wealthy nation as Nigeria is an indication that ourleaders have failed.
For Nigeria, I call for prayers. For Nigeria, I enjoin everyone to be prayerful and hope that God cleanses us of the vampires and decievers we have as leaders and replace them with people with the fear of God and the good of the people atheart.
Nigeria can be better if we honestly and sincerely decide to make her better. God bless Nigeria.

A 19-year-old man has been arrested after he was caught being intimate with his 12-year-old niece inside a building.
The juvenile's mother caught the two red-handed at about 10 pm.
Meanwhile, the man was convicted on his own plea to unlawfully having sexual intercourse with a young person when he appeared in court.
He was sentenced to six months imprisonment of which two months were suspended for five years on condition that he does not commit a similar offence within that period.
The State's case as presented by Mr Paul Mpofu is that the man first had sex with his niece on 6 December last year and was caught red-handed on the second occasion on 1 January.
On 6 December the juvenile was on her way from school in the company of her friend when they met the uncle near a local business centre. The juvenile's friend proceeded home and the man asked his niece to remain behind. He then led her to a nearby bush where they had sex once.
On 1 January the juvenile went to the local shops but was late to return home. Her mother made a follow up at about 10pm. Upon arriving at the business centre she asked people around and they indicated that they had seen her enter a grinding mill.
She proceeded to the grinding mill and caught herdaughter red-handed in the act with the uncle, who ran away after realising he had been caught.
A report was later made to the police leading to the uncle's arrest. In mitigation, the man said he was in a relationship with his niece and that she had consented to sex

In an extraordinary incident, a Mahatshula woman in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe hosted a party after the death of her husband.
According to sources, the party was held on Christmas Day just a few hours after the woman's husband died. The woman, Nomasonto Zikhali is said to have lost her husband, Khumbulani Ncube,who died on Christmas day.
Zikhali reportedly invited her friends and relatives to join her in the party. Reports say Ncube's relatives boycotted the party as they condemned the move with all the contempt it deserved.
"Surely, how can someone do such a thing? She should be taken for mental examination to ascertain whether all is still well in her brain. We are all in shock. We were about to join her in her mourning but we were left speechless after we heard music being played at a very high volume. Iasked another neighbour to accompany me there and we found her dancing with some women anda few men," said a source who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The source said Zikhali was questioned about herseemingly uncultured behaviour by other neighbours and she sent them packing. She reportedly said life should not stop because her husband had died on Christmas Day.
"That woman is crazy. Even weddings do not go on if someone close to the groom or bride dies. This whole Christmas thing is a mockery of our values. I don't think Jesus will be happy to see people soil the values of humanity using his name," fumed a neighbour.
The source said Zikhali's in-laws were gathered at their rural home and had decided not to involve her in the funeral proceedings.
"Who can blame them? I would have done the same if I were in their shoes. What she did is unheard of. Maybe she is from another planet," said the source.
Our news crew caught up with Zikhali who by no means resembled a woman in mourning.
"Let them talk. I am living my life. So are they telling me that life should not go on after the death of my husband? They are getting it wrong. Iwasn't celebrating his death, but Christmas Day like all Christians," said Zikhali.
The widow, who was putting on a gleeful smile during the interview further said she just wanted to relieve stress.
"I would have died of stress. A wife and husband dying on the same day, what would have that been? Perhaps good news for the media. I don't care what they say. I know what I was doing and I am not going to sit here and try to please some people who do not even care about my welfare," said the woman who lost her husband last week.
Zikhali said she was unmoved by the irreparable damage between her in-laws and herself.
"No one knows what I am going through, so it will be best for me to try and alleviate my stress by doing what makes me happy," she said.

27-Year-Old Man Rapes Chicken To Death

A 27-year-old man is facing 15 years in jail after being convicted of sexually abusing a chicken which later died.
The magistrate court found Goliath Nyirenda (27) guilty of the offence and committed him to the High Court for sentencing. He was caught abusing the chicken on November 18 last year.
Mr Tiwilili said the offence was a serious one which carried a maximum sentence of 15 years and fell under the jurisdiction of the High Court.
Nyirenda was convicted of one count of unnaturaloffence contrary to Section 155b of the Criminal Procedure Code (CPC), a charge he denied.
Nyirenda said during trial that on the fateful night around 22:00 hours, he returned from a drinking spree and was later woken up by the owner of the chicken Gift Michelo.
He said Mr Michelo locked him in his house and went to call his neighbours before he was handed over to the police for no reason.
But in his testimony, Mr Michelo testified that on the night of the event around 23:00 hours he was woken up by a chicken which was making noise. He traced the noise to Nyirenda's house.
When he entered the house, he saw Nyirenda throw the chicken through the window in panic. Mr Michelo picked the chicken and realised that itwas his and when he checked it, he noticed that itwas soiled behind by Nyirenda. He then called thepolice who arrested him.

I am in a relationship 4yrs on. My girl has cheated on me more than once before she told me about it, promising not to repeat it again. I love her so much desiring to settle down with her, this i told her many times. I assisted her through school inspite of the fact she doesn't allow me touch her as much i wanted to, claiming it's a sin.
Now, she went serving last year in the north, initially everything was fine, later on she started misbehaving. week after the remains of Nollywood actress, Bisi Komolafe was laid to rest amid tears in Ibadan, Oyo State, her fiancé, Tunde Ijadola and members of her family are already on war path over the deceased’s property.
This development was made public during the week when Tunde cried out, saying “I don’t think it is a proper thing for family members to be fighting me for Bisi’s property less than 24hours after her death when we should be mourning her.”
Ijadola reacted to the accusations levelled against him that he was not ready to release any of the deceased’s property to them.
According to him, “You will recall that after Bisi Komolafe’s burial, her family not only claimed that I was responsible for her death, but also ordered me to vacate her apartment and return her vehicle to them.
Complying with the instruction, Tunde stated that“I am sending the Honda Pilot back to them, sad enough, Bisi’s parents do not have issues with me but her extended family members. Please note I have given them time and place to pick the car.”
“On the accusation that he went back to pack Bisi’s properties, he said, “I came back to Nigeria on October 24, 2012. Bisi and I left the Ikorodu flat on October 26, 2012 and until now, I have never stepped into the Ikorodu apartment which I rented for her. I’m shocked by what I am hearing. Bisi was living in Ajao Estate before I rented the Ikorodu apartment for her.”
Tunde also cleared the air on the accusation that he had been hiding Bisi from people.
He said “I had to change Bisi’s numbers because she needed rest, when she was ill people kept calling her for work. It is sad that Bisi died the way she did. One of the main issues between me and her family was the fact that when Bisi’s sickness dragged on, I went spiritual to save her.
