APC delegation prevented from landing at Gombe Airport

January 4, 2014 by Niyi Odebode and Okechukwu Nnodim

An aircraft carrying a delegation of the All Progressive Congress was on Thursday  prevented from landing at the Gombe Airport.

Our correspondent learnt on Friday that the aircraft was about to land when the pilot saw that a fire truck was parked at the runway.

The delegation was led by a former Minister of State for Power and Steel, Muritala Aliyu.

It was gathered that the pilot informed the APC leaders that he did not have enough fuel to go to back to Abuja.

It was learnt that the plane had to go to Bauchi for emergency landing.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party,  Alhaji Lai Mohammed, confirmed the incident, in a telephone interview with one of our correspondents.

He said that the APC officials were going to Gombe for the inauguration of the state interim executive of the party.

According to him, the officials had to go to Gombe from Bauchi by road. There are no night flight facilities at the Bauchi airstrip.

Mohammed described the action of the aviation authorities as political prosecution.

The former minister, who led the delegation, in an interview on Friday, said the aviation authorities should have let the pilot know the condition of the airport before he took off from Abuja.

According to him, the  pilot was in touch with the control towers at the Gombe Airport, adding that that there was no information that Gombe Airport was closed to traffic until they got there.

When contacted the spokesman of the aviation agencies, Mr. Yakubu Dati, told one our correspondents that a notice to all airmen was issued to pilots before the airport was closed.

According to him, the pilot of the chartered aircraft may have chosen not to obey the notice.

He stressed that the occupants of the aircraft may be trying to gain publicity by ignoring professional instruction by the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria.

Pastor Tunde Bakare rejects Christmas cow from President Jonathan

Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir El Rufai, has revealed that Pastor Tunde Bakare, the General Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, turned down a cow, which was reportely sent to him for Christmas by President Jonathan.

In a tweet posted on Sunday, El Rufai wrote: “Just learnt that GEJ sent a Christmas cow to Pastor Bakare, but Pastor asked – is it cow we need in Nigeria? Nigerians want good governance!”

www.nairaland.com/attachments/1488944_n2_pngf40190025275dc3489d324718bb5217b

It is believed that Pastor Bakare made this known to his congregation, as moments before then, El Rufai tweeted: “On my way Latter Rain Assembly to see my egbon, Pastor Tunde Bakare, by God’s Grace….” and later told his followers that, “Inside Latter Rain, Pastor Tunde Bakare praying for peace, stability and unity of Nigeria in 2014….that our nation gets capable leaders…”

It is public knowledge that the president and the fiery man of God do not go along well, so it comes as a surprise that he decided to send the gift.

Nelson Mandela Is In Hell – Jim Solouki & Martin Baker

This supposed heartfelt message from two guys who call themselves true ‘Christians’ will definitely leave you shocked and speechless.
Here’s what they wrote on their Blog, together with pictures and the captions they put on the pictures about Nelson Mandela, the great hero who just died.

Nelson Mandela, Satan’s new toy!

Greetings True Christians!

Today Nelson Mandela, former president of South Africa, ended his worldly life and entered the depths of Hell. Mandela was an unsaved heathen, and died without knowing the Lord.

Not only did Mandela influence American Democrat Barack Hussein Obama, but he also practiced a heathen African tribal religion.

Unfortunately, while Mandela did some great things for the nation of South Africa by ending apartheid, Heaven is like an exclusive club, unsaved unwelcome. Mandela died unsaved, and is therefore not welcome in Heaven.

Nelson Mandela was also influenced by Darwinism and Communism! Mandela was an avid reader of Marx in the 1950s, and everybody knows that God hates Communists!

Mandela allied himself with Communists and heathen Indian Gandhi, who is also in Hell. Instead of seeking a Christian approach to freedom from apartheid, Mandela instead turned entirely to heathens. In fact, Mandela and Gandhi even are rumored to have engaged in rampant homosexual acts with each other while planning protests!

Nelson Mandela loved Karl Marx!

Mandela was also friendly toward Muslims, God’s hated people!

Mandela was linked to the American Civil Rights movement, and many members of this movement were Muslims. Know what the Muslims did after they got African Americans equal rights? They crashed airplanes into buildings and started sectarian wars in the Middle East. Nelson Mandela was allied with these heathen scum, and is now being punished for his earthly mistakes.

Tonight I watched many news stations. On every channel, they showed Africans lining the streets of South Africa, doing happy dappy heathen dances, perhaps in hopes that the voodoo rain god might look with favor upon the soul of Mandela.

Unfortunately, these savages are of the same cloth as Mandela. Nelson Mandela may have been a great AFRICAN nature, but by world standards, he was rather lacking. But alas, this is the best that Africa can do. Africa is a heathen continent filled with heathens, and it is no wonder that God allowed the people of Africa to be enslaved.

a heathen dance!

I implore those Africans still living to reject the sinful ways of Nelson Mandela and embrace Christianity so that they might not follow Mandela into Hell. Let us pray for the Africans, out of love.

Dear Lord Jesus Christ, please lead the Africans away from heathen religions and to You. Please lead the Africans to Christianity so that they may stop being punished with AIDS, poverty, and dirty water, and so that they may avoid the fate of Nelson Mandela and avoid being cast into hell. This we pray in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

A heartfelt Christian messages from your friends,

Jim Solouki and Martin Baker

New Abuja City Gate To Gulp N64bn

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has disclosed that the new Abuja city gate to be located at the Kuje Junction, Along Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Expressway (airport road) is to be constructed at the cost of N64 billion.

The new city gate, according to the administration, comprises conference and parade grounds, botanical gardens and a five star hotel. Others are shopping arcades, amphitheatres, cable car stations that will go from south to north and a monorail system.

Director, department of public buildings, Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Arch Bernard Lot, who disclosed this while addressing a press conference, said the project would be floated through Public Private Partnership (PPP) model and the administration was currently looking for investors.

“Some investors have shown interest and we have discussed with them. We have prepared Infrastructure Concession and Regulatory Commission (ICRC) documentation for it at the cost of N64 billion,” Lot said.

Explaining the concept of the new city gate, he said, “The city gate project is a futuristic project. We have a new one at Kuje junction; just before the flyover at Kuje junction if you are moving from the city to the airport. Under the contract of the Airport expressway, very soon they will do an underpass because the gate is designed into a northern flank, a southern flank and a central axis. The central axis is a pedestrian bridge with a pile-on and on the northern side we have the formal side where we have the conference and parade ground, botanical gardens and other facilities including a five star hotel. That will form the symbol of how a visiting head of state could be given the key to enter the city.

“On the southern side, we have commercial facilities such as shopping arcades, amphitheatre, cable car station that will go from south to north and even with a monorail. City gates in modern architecture are places where people can come and converge, live and seek information about the city and go back without entering the city. One doesn’t have to enter Abuja without knowing about Abuja. Right from the city gate, you can know about the city and go back. The city gate is going to be complemented by the centenary city which is adjacent to it.”

On the millennium tower project which was awarded at N69 billion, he said the administration had spent about N34 billion and the cost of outstanding work was about N34 billion, but “We felt that with government’s dwindling resources, we have to look for a way forward on how to actualise that project.  The project in itself comprises a national square. It is a paved plot with underground parking on two levels under and that would be completed within the next one month. We need to make some corresponding engineering road network around that place to get access to it.

“So, we are discussing with the director of engineering to make sure that roads B8 and B10 between NS8 and NS9 are completed in such a way that we can have a free flow of traffic to access the underground car parks and utilise the national square.  Apart from the national square, we have the millennium tower and revolving restaurant at the height of 110 metres. It will resolve slowly and is for a capacity of 120 people. We intend to complete that project and by the end of this year, you will see it under construction. By the end of the contract period which is October 2014, you will see the restaurant functioning. It is an economically viable project that we can easily sell for a PPP model and we will see it actualised within our own time.”
Nairaland / General / Man Arrested For Kiling And Eating His Daughter by ndala(m): 4:45pm On Oct 11, 2013
Man eats daughter’s flesh, drinks her blood

A Papua New Guinea man described as a vampire has been arrested after allegedly murdering his young daughter by biting her neck, eating her flesh and drinking her blood, a report said Friday.

Police called the grisly incident that occurred on Wednesday at a settlement near Lae “an act of cannibalism”.

The PNG Post Courier cited local councillor John Kenny, who was one of the first on the scene, as saying the three-year-old child and her mother were visiting the father when he grabbed the girl and ran off into nearby bushes.

Kenny said the man allegedly held the toddler close to him, bit deep into her neck, ate the flesh and sucked her blood.

Two boys who were climbing a coconut tree nearby saw him and ran quickly to raise the alarm.

“He was just laughing at the boys and continued eating the flesh and sucking the blood,” Kenny told the newspaper.

“The boys were scared and ran quickly to alert the people.”

When people arrived to investigate the man reportedly dumped the body in the bushes and ran away before being caught and turned over to police.

PNG is a sprawling nation where black magic, sorcery and cannibalism sometimes occur.

Last year police arrested dozens of people linked to an alleged cannibal cult accused of killing at least seven people, eating their brains raw and making soup from their joysticks.

There have been several other recent cases linked to cults, witchcraft and cannibalism, with a man in 2011 reportedly found eating his screaming, newborn son during a sorcery initiation ceremony. Source.www.guineanewsagency.com

ASUP resumes strike on Friday

September 29, 2013 by Jude Owuamanam, Jos

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics is to resume its suspended strike on Friday  following  the inability of the Federal Government to resolve outstanding issues with the union.

ASUP Chairman, Mr. Clement Chirman, told newsmen in Jos on Sunday that “the frustrating inertia of the Federal Government to convincingly fulfil any of the promises and agreements reached with the union before the suspension of the earlier strike on July 172013 shows that government is not serious.”

Chirman said the National Executive Council after its 75th meeting held at the Federal Polytechnic, Bida, Niger State, resolved that the strike would “be total and indefinite” until  the government showed  committed to honouring the agreement with the union.

He expressed dismay at  government penchant  for breaking agreements, adding that “since the union suspended its earlier strike in July, government has shown no commitment to fulfilling any of the promises it made to the union.”

The union in its communiqué after the meeting in Bida decried “the anti-labour stance of the National Assembly as exemplified by the recently proposed removal of minimum wage from the exclusive legislative list of the constitution to the concurrent list, as well as the proposed legislation against declaration of industrial strike by unions in the tertiary sector.”

ASUP also lamented government’s abuse of the laws establishing TETfund. And the culpable lack of commitment of the National Board for Technical Education to meeting the needs and demands of polytechnic education in Nigeria.

“The CONTISS 15 Migration for Lower cadres, Needs Assessment of Polytechnics, release of whitepaper of visitation to Federal polytechnics, discrimination between polytechnics and university graduates in job placement and career progression and the constitution of Governing Councils to Federal polytechnics earlier omitted, were among the issues we brought before the Federal Government in the last negotiation, but government has failed to address any of them since after we suspended strike in July”, Chirman lamented.

The communique said:

1. That Government should without delay address all the outstanding standing issues including the NEEDS Assessments of the polytechnics and the corresponding funding, constitution of the Governing Councils of the remaining Federal polytechnics, CONITSS 15 Migration of the Lower Cadres, the removal of disparity between HND and Degree certificates, establishment of the National Polytechnics Commission (NPC), release of the Whitepaper of the visitation panels to polytechnics;

2. That the National Assembly should rescind from its current anti-labour posture in the interest of industrial peace and our desperate move to rescue the endangered soul of the tertiary institutions in the country;

3. That the National Assembly should expedite action on the review of the Polytechnic Act;

4. That a vote of no confidence be passed the NBTE and further calls for the immediate establishment of a National Polytechnics Commission (NPC) to proactively cater for the needs of the sector;

5. That the Nigerian political class and other interest groups should exercise restraint on their utterances and activities in the interest of peace, unity and security of the nation;

6. That the Federal Government should desist from abuse of TETfund laws;

7. That stakeholders in the education sector such as parents, students, religious leaders, the press, members of States and National assemblies to rise to their responsibilities of rescuing the (polytechnic) education sector from imminent collapse;

8. That the position of ASUP on the need to appoint the rectors from within the polytechnic system remains irreversible;

9. That in view of the continued insincerity of Government to honour the agreement reached with ASUP, NEC resolves that the union will resume the suspended strike with effect from 4th October, 2013. NEC sincerely appreciates the good people of Nigeria and all other stakeholders in the education sector for their sustained support in its struggles to save the polytechnic education from total collapse in Nigeria.

Education / I Am Going Back To The University To Teach- Sacked Minister Of Education by ndala(m): 5:28pm On Sep 12, 2013
Am Going Back To The University To Teach - Sacked Minister Of Education.

Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufa’i, who was among the nine ministers relieved of their positions by President Goodluck Jonathan in a cabinet reshuffle on Wednesday, says she will be going back to the university to teach.

She, who handed over the affairs of the education ministry to the Minister of State in the ministry, Chief Nyesom Wike, as directed by the president, told newsmen that she would be going back to continue with her job as a teacher.

Before her appointment as a minister, Rufa’i was a professor of Curriculum Studies at the Bayero University, Kano.
“I called you here to witness the handing over because as you are all aware my tenure as minister has expired along with eight others.
“I am going back to resume my job as a professor of Curriculum Studies at the Bayero University Kano, that is where I came from on secondment.

“We should know that a time like this will come because if it does not, death is surely an end.”
She expressed gratitude to the President for the opportunity given her to serve as a cabinet minister.
“I have enjoyed a close working relationship with the President.
“Of course, there were times we had our disagreements, but overall we enjoyed working together.”

Rufa’i, who also thanked Wike and other officials of the ministry for the support she enjoyed during her tenure in the ministry, tasked them not to relent in achieving the sector’s goal of Access and Quality.

In his remarks, Wike described Rufa’i's exit as ”painful” but said that “when we are not in control, there is nothing we can do”.
He said because of the cordial working relations between them, the two had never been summoned by the president to define their roles.
Wike thanked the former minister for her good leadership.
“I therefore implore you, please do not abandon the ministry, continue to give us the advice you would have been giving if you were here,” he said

Also in his remarks, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr McJohn Nwaobiala, said the change was ”like being hit by a thunderbolt”.
Nwaobiala, who described Rufa’i as totally different, pledged that the ministry would build on the foundation she had laid. (NAN)

T.B. JOSHUA RECEIVES AMBASSADOR OF PEACE AWARD

The Arewa Youth Form, Northern Nigeria came to The SCOAN to present Prophet T.B. Joshua with a prestigious merit award as an Ambassador of Peace.

National Director of Public Affairs, Arewa Youth Forum, Benue, Nigeria, Bello Abdulhamid, said they came to The SCOAN because of love which the man of God has always demonstrated irrespective of barriers of race, religion, creed or ethnicity. Speaking on behalf of the northern states of Nigeria, he said that Kaduna, Yobe, Plateau, Kano and Jigawa States are all beneficiaries of the trailers of rice that Prophet T.B. Joshua sends.

He said, “Prophet T.B. Joshua is a man with phenomenal vision. He shows a deep sense of compassion and unconditional love. Prophet T.B. Joshua is a blessing not only to us in Nigeria but also the international community. Prophet T.B. Joshua is the very first man of God that we are visiting and honouring. Our independent assessment has shown that The SCOAN has been committed to provide not only for the spiritual but also for the physical wellbeing of people”.

Addressing his nation, he said, “Fellow Nigerians, we are here because of the love we see in the life of Prophet T.B. Joshua. We need love to come together as a nation. Where there is love, there is no killing, stealing or destruction. Where there is love, there is no segregation. Love is the solution to our problems in Nigeria”.

Explaining the reason why The Arewa Youth Forum chose to come to The SCOAN, he said that they are looking for men and women of love for consultation for the way out for this country.

The National President of the Arewa Youth Forum, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo, said that they have picked Prophet T.B. Joshua as a leader to bring back the lost love in Nigeria.

Isa Kurgui, the National Vice President, North-Central, Arewa Youth Forum said that in a society where there is love, you can sleep without locking your door, you can go anywhere without fear. He concluded by saying that from this day henceforth, Prophet T.B. Joshua is the Grand Patron of Northern Nigerian Youths.

The congregation rose to their feet clapping as Prophet T.B. Joshua was presented with the award as Philanthropist Par Excellence Ambassador of Peace.

Standing side by side with them, the Prophet explained to the world his reason for accepting this award during the live service. He said, “I will receive this award in order to join them to bring peace to some troubled spots in our coutry nigeria
Religion / TB Joshua Sees A Revolution In Nigeria by ndala(m): 8:23pm On Jul 15, 2013
Nigeria-based tele-evangelist Pastor T.B. Joshua of the Synagogue, Church of All Nations on Sunday carried on with his message for job creation with a call to include the youth in decision-making positions or risk mass unrest.

The pastor, speaking during a live service broadcast on his Emmanuel TV, said:

“I am seeing a revolution. I am seeing people take to the street. At the beginning of that protest, it might be stopped. Eventually, it will become so big that it cannot be stopped.”

In the message entitled ‘Carry Your Youth Along’ the prophet, however, said there was a way out and cited job creation for the youth and the creation of a new social value system.

This, he said, was because 90 percent of the youth have come to believe that it was by becoming political thugs that they could be successful, especially because those in the political offices do not want to retire and become statesmen.

He also said the youth should be considered for inclusion in all sectors of the economy as they seem to be more educated than their elders because they are exposed to modern technology.

“The youth, no matter the education they have, feel they have no place in politics and there is no job to keep them busy. There must be new orientation,” said T.B Joshua who has in recent weeks taken job creation as a pilot project of his ministry.

In an indirect chastisement of political leaders who cling to power, the Lagos-based cleric said it was time the youth were considered for important positions such as assistants to the elders.

Said he: “While the elders are ministers, the youth could be junior ministers. This little example of being junior ministers can change the situation of things. Tell your presidents – in every department of government or politics, the youth should be junior assistants to the heads of such departments.”

By doing this, he said, the youth would be groomed to take over tomorrow because they are leaders of tomorrow.

“This is a message to the whole world. This is because revolution is a weapon of change that is coming. This is the vision I saw. Revolution is coming when people will take to the street because life has no value anymore to the people out there.

“Any nation that will start it now, will avert the coming revolution. Carry your youth along in your politics and administration especially in ruling your country. I have said it; none of these will go without being fulfilled,” said the pastor who lamented that his messages right from the beginning of his ministry were never believed until they came to pass.

Among some of his predictions that came true were the revolution in Egypt, death of former Malawi president Bingu wa Mutharika and recently, the derailing of the train in a french-speaking country, just to name a few.

According to the prophet, if the youth are carried along, whenever there is a revolt or situation they will be available to readily speak to their colleagues and peace will be maintained.

“The youth want to see themselves represented in every area of life,” he said.

The pastor who has often been accused of being a prophet of doom for his hard-to-swallow predictions, was quick to warn his world viewers, saying he only speaks what God tells him.

“Those who cry peace to us, prophesy nothing but smooth things. Those who cry peace to you, victory be to you, all is well, unlimited favour, prophesy nothing but smooth things. As surely as God lives, I [T.B. Joshua] will tell you only what God says. If I am hated, persecuted and intimidated because of my accurate prophetic utterances – Blessed be to God who gives the prophecy!”

July 14, 2013 – Boko Haram Plans To Attack More Schools “No Ceasefire Plan Yet. We Won’t Kill Women & Children”

“No Ceasefire Plans With The Nigerian Government & Non-believers” – Boko Haram Terrorists Vow More Attacks

The Boko Haram sect has denied entering into any ceasefire agreement with the Federal Government.

The group stated this in a new video by its leader, Abubakar Shekau. The video is available to AP and quoted by Huffington Post.

“We will not enter into any agreement with non-believers or the Nigerian government,” Mr. Shekau was quoted as saying in Hausa language.

Mr. Shekau’s statement contradicts that of the federal government.

The Minister of Special Duties and chairman of the presidential task force negotiating with the group, Kabiru Turaki, had said the group had agreed to a ceasefire with his committee. He said the ceasefire would soon be signed publicly with the group.

Mr. Turaki had, however, said his committee did not meet nor negotiate with Mr. Shekau directly, but negotiated with his deputy.

To burn more schools

Mr. Shekau also said in the video that his group was not responsible for killing of school children in Borno and Yobe States.

“We don’t touch small children, we only burn the schools,” he said. “Our religion does not permit us to touch small children and women, we don’t kill children.”

The sect leader’s claim tallies with that announced by Mr. Turaki, who said the sect told his committee that they were not responsible for the attack on a government secondary school in Mamudo. About 28 students and a teacher were killed when gunmen attacked the school, weeks after similar attacks in other parts of Yobe and Borno. Most of the Mamudo students were burnt alive, witnesses had said.

Mr. Shekau, however, said he supported the attacks on the schools and his sect would “burn down the schools, if they are not Islamic religious schools for Allah.”

The Boko Haram leader also said his sect would attack and kill teachers teaching western education.

Attacks by Boko Haram and gunmen have continued- although to a lesser degree, according to residents- in Borno and Yobe despite the declaration of a State of Emergency in the states by President Goodluck Jonathan almost two months ago.

Okagbare shines at the Diamond League athletics.

Barely a week after cruising to a sprint double at the All Nigeria Championships in Calabar, Nigeria’s Blessing Okagbare has continued to show tremendous improvement as she upstaged fierce rivals Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce and Carmelita Jeter to win the 200 meters in 22.55 seconds at the Birmingham Diamond League on Sunday.

Okagbare was not given much chance for a top finish with many analysts predicting that the Diamond League stand out race would be a head to head between Fraser-Pryce and Jeter.

Okagbare, who tops the list of the 19 athletes Nigeria is taking to the World Championships in Russia in August, however, surprised many as she made an unusually strong start and held off Fraser-Pryce, the two-time Olympic champion in the 100 metres.

Jeter, the world 200 champion, trailed in a disappointing seventh in 23.36.

In the other top sprint race of the day, Nesta Carter of Jamaica capitalized on the absence of the leading men’s sprinters by winning the 100 in 9.99 and Dawn Harper-Nelson led an American 1-2 in the women’s 100 hurdles, edging Kellie Wells to victory in 12.64.

Nigeria will take on Uruguay in an U20 World Cup Round of 16 match on Tuesday night in Istanbul.

Uruguay finished second in Group F on six points after they smashed four unreplied goals past erstwhile group leaders Uzbekistan in their final group game on Saturday in Antalya.

Croatia won the group to avoid a second straight clash with Nigeria when they defeated New Zealand 2-1 in Bursa.

The Flying Eagles defeated the Croats 4-2 at Colombia 2011.

The winners of the match-up between Nigeria and Uruguay will advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament.

The South Americans started their campaign at Turkey 2013 on a losing note when they fell 1-0 to Croatia.

They then rallied back to beat New Zealand 2-0 before their convincing win over the Uzbeks on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Flying Eagles resumed training Saturday morning after a day off on Friday.

They will also train on Sunday night ahead of the match against Uruguay.
Kick-off for the match is 9pm local time, which is 7pm Nigerian time.

It is claimed the Nigerian players were angry over unpaid bonus money promised to them after they beat Kenya 1-0 in a World Cup qualifier last week.

16 June - Mexico v Italy, Spain v Uruguay

17 June - Tahiti v Nigeria

19 June - Brazil v Mexico, Italy v Japan

The players wanted to be paid £6,370 ($10,000) but the cash-strapped Nigeria Football Foundation, who have been forced to cut back on backroom staff of the various national teams, refused.

20 June - Spain v Tahiti, Nigeria v Uruguay

22 June - Italy v Brazil, Japan v Mexico

23 June - Nigeria v Spain, Uruguay v Tahiti

26 / 27 June - Semi-finals

30 June - Final, third v fourth play-off

The Nigerian players had then been offered a bonus £1,590 ($2,500) following their 1-1 draw in Namibia in another World Cup qualifier on Wednesday, but the players wanted more.

"Their officials all departed on an earlier flight, but the players and technical staff are still in Namibia," said Nigeria Football Association general secretary Barry Rukoro.

Nigeria's first game takes place in Belo Horizonte against Tahiti on 17 June, before playing Uruguay in Salvador on 20 June and then Spain in. Source www.BBCSPORTS.UK
