“Now the Lord had prepared a great fish to swallow Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights.” (Jonah 1:17, NKJV) Do you ever wonder why sometimes everything in your life seems to be going in the opposite direction of where you are trying to go? You are trying your best, but instead of everything you touch turning to gold, it dissolves. Maybe you lose your job, or, have a hard time finding one. Maybe, it seems that things in your house are starting to tear up and not work anymore. Things are just not going right. The Book of Jonah, in the Old Testament, is a short book, containing only 4 chapters. But inside, it holds a POWERFUL message. It contains a Truth, that if we get a hold of it, can transform our lives as we know it. The first chapter explains to us that the Prophet Jonah received a command from the Lord to go to a town called Nineveh and give them a message. This message was that God was about to cause other lands to overtake the city, utterly destroying it. Instead of doing this, Jonah headed to Joppa, and boarded a ship sailing to Tarshish, which was totally in the opposite direction. God caused a great storm to come, causing the ship to almost capsize, which would have meant the death of all who were boarded. They cast lots to see who could be the cause of why God seemed to be so angry with them, and the lot fell on Jonah. He informed them that if they would throw him overboard, the storm would cease. They did just that, and God caused the seas to have peace. In the end, God had caused a whale to swallow Jonah. (Most people who study animals say that it is impossible for a whale to swallow a full grown human. I tend to believe the Bible, and know that it could very well be that it was a fish that we know not of, one designed for the purpose God had intended for the time.) After 3 days, God caused the whale to spit Jonah out, and he obeyed the Lord, delivering the message to the people of Nineveh. Now watch this… Nineveh, according to Scriptures, had a population of about 120,000. It was big enough to take 3 whole days to cross, I am assuming by walking. Everyone from the King to the lowest of persons repented of their sin, and God spared them. How can we apply this story to our lives today? It wasn’t long ago that things started tearing up in my house. The toilet. The washing machine. The faucet in the tub, and the bathroom sink. All, it seemed, at once. What in the world is going on? I am doing my best to do everything right. I go to work. I provide as best I can for my family. I am faithful to pay my tithes. So I asked the Lord. He answered, and it wasn’t something I had done wrong, per say, but there was an issue that needed to be dealt with. After I did this, things went back to the “normal” that we are accustomed to. So, let me encourage you to do this: Examine your heart. Ask the Lord to reveal to you what you may be doing wrong, and then repent, just as the City of Nineveh did. God is Faithful and Just to forgive. 2 Chronicles 7:14 says, “If My people, who are called by My Name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek My Face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sins, and heal their land.” If you have never asked the Lord to forgive you of your sins, or if you have strayed from the Lord, simply repeat this prayer aloud as you read: Heavenly Father, I am a sinner. I know that Jesus came and died on the cross for my sins, and rose again on the third day. Please forgive me of my sins, and come into my heart. Teach me how to live in Your ways. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus Name, Amen. Jesus is the Best Friend You could ever have, and He Loves you so much! Source: http://www.changeasoul.org/index.php?topic=324.msg978;topicseen#msg978 |
God has an undeniable calling on your life. That is true on the days when you feel like your life has deep significance and is counting for eternity, and it is equally true on the days when you feel like you never accomplish anything more significant than tackling a pile of dirty laundry. Paul says in Ephesians 4:1: “As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.” The calling he speaks of was not exclusive to the church at Ephesus – you and I are included that “you”. You HAVE received a calling – strong and sure – from the Lord! A calling from God does not necessarily mean you will become a full-time minister or be sent to Africa to do missions work. A calling from God DOES mean that the sum total of who you are – your past, present, and even your future, your experiences, your failures, your pain, your hopes and dreams – has vast value in His Kingdom. Nothing is wasted. A calling from God also means that He has lovingly crafted plans specifically for you to accomplish great things in His kingdom, and to fully embrace your life and daily live for His glory. Right now, no matter what your circumstances might say to the contrary. HOW CAN WE UNLOCK THAT CALL? Paul’s answer may surprise you like it did me! He doesn’t send us to a seminar, or ask us to make a list of all our top qualities that we can offer to God. Instead, Paul urges us to unlock the call by living in a manner that is worthy of it: 1. To live UP to our potential in Christ we must first lay DOWN our rights – “Be completely humble and gentle…(Eph 4:2)” 2. Walk out life with those around us in love and patience – “Be patient, bearing with one another in love (Eph 4:2)” 3. Be peacemakers and highly value unity in the Body of Christ – “Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” (Eph. 4:3) The key to unlocking God’s calling on our lives is to turn from our pride and selfishness and turn to the humble, patient, Servant King, and thus become like Him. He also unlocked God’s call on His life by laying down His rights, walking out life with those around Him in love and patience, and valuing unity among God’s people. In that place of submission, and only in that place, we are living lives worthy of our calling. n that place of humility and valuing others above ourselves, we are positioned for God to use us and expand the calling. And then look out – there’s not telling what God has in store! Whatever it is, it will be specifically tailored to your incredible uniqueness, and lovingly crafted with your gifts and talents in mind. In short, it will be something only God can accomplish. Will you join me? “Father, I pray today that by your grace you would lead each one of us into the fullness of your call on our lives. Help us to walk away from our pride and selfishness, and to embrace humility, patience, loving kindness, and peace. Cause us to live lives worthy of your calling, and may your specific call on each our of lives be completely, beautifully, and joyfully fulfilled. For Your glory, amen.” With faith, hope, and love. At what age does a baptized / unbaptized child starts committing sins? I now that a three year old child can lie or do all sort of things, i don:t know whether to re-phrase my question, i mean like at what age will their sins start counting as sin, like if a three year of die , will he go to hell? If it is the age of reason then like when is actually the age of reason, is it different for different individuals? At what age can a child go to Hell? Thanks. What is GPS? It is a Global Positioning system. The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based navigation system made up of a network of 24 satellites placed into orbit by the U.S. Department of Defense. How does it work? The GPS tell you where you are on Earth. GPS answers four questions simultaneously: Where am I? Where am I going? What’s the best way to get there? When will I get there? GPS is the only system today that can show your exact position on the Earth anytime, in any weather, no matter where you are! Now you will learn, how can you get spiritual lesson from GPS. I am going to do comparison of GPS with DPS. Let me explain; What is DPS? It is a Divine Positioning System. Earth is not our final destination; we are aliens here. This system takes us to the divine track. How does it work? If you are truly a saved person, the power of the Holy Spirit is in you. When the Holy Spirit comes into your life, then He works like GPS. He tells us where we are standing in the eyes of God. What we need to do is to grow more towards our final destination. When someone goes in the wrong direction, GPS does rerouting. In the same manner, when you make a mistake or do sin, the Holy Spirit tells you that you are not on the right path. Then He helps you to get back on track to move towards your destiny. You have to pay for the GPS, but the Holy Spirit is a free promised gift that is given to direct your life. Think for a moment. If you don’t have GPS, and you don’t know the way, what will happen? Without the Holy Spirit, you are going somewhere; but you don’t know if you will reach your destiny or not. If you don’t have the power of the Holy Spirit, ask God to give it to you today. You don’t have to beg for it. It is a gift of God. Walking in the Spirit is an absolute must for the believer. It is not up for debate. Don’t wait for another day, today is the day. The words of the wise illuminates our heart and makes us to live above where we previously were. In this post, you will be discovering powerful wise words of Pastor Joel Osteen of Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas, United States of America. 1. Reevaluate what you’re doing. Refocus your life. Let go of distractions & have purpose in every step. 2. Faith pleases God. Faith is what allows Him to do the impossible. 3. Your situation isn’t working against you; it’s working for you. It’s getting you in position for your amazing future. 4. God has invested gifts and talents in you. Here’s the key: He expects a return on His investment. 5. Difficulty is not your destination; you’re only passing through. Keep moving forward.1 6. God has not brought you this far to leave you. He hasn’t failed you in the past, He’s not going to fail you now. 7. You may be a product of your past, but you don’t have to be a prisoner of your past. Move forward with your life. 8. Start expecting to rise higher, start expecting supernatural doors to open. That’s what gets God’s attention. 9. Ordinary prayers get ordinary results. God meets us at the level of our faith. 10. This is the most rewarding way to live; not living to get, but living to give. 11. You have the strength you need, you have the determination, the peace, the favor. You’re not lacking; you’re anointed. 12. You don’t have to worry; God has you in the palm of His hand. He’s not going to fail you. He’s faithful to His promises. 13. Kindness is contagious. When you go out of your way to help someone, you start a chain reaction. 14. God has already laid out the plan for your life. He knows exactly who you’ll need, what you'll need, and when you'll need it. 15. What looks like a setback is really God setting you up to get you to the fullness of your destiny. 16. A lot of times we have faith for the future, but true faith is always in the present. God wants to show you His favor today. 17. We are not perfect, but we are forgiven. Move forward and don’t let guilt spoil your future. 18. When you learn to embrace where you are, it’s a freeing way to live. It takes all of the pressure off. 19. If you’ll get rid of the negative, if you’ll make room, God will fill your life with good things. 20. When you empty out worry, you’ll have peace in the midst of the storm. You‘ll be calm when you should be stressed out. Source : http://www.changeasoul.org/index.php?topic=302.msg913#msg913

Margaret Boemer went for a routine ultrasound 16 weeks into her pregnancy with her third child. She quickly found out that things were far from routine. "They saw something on the scan, and the doctor came in and told us that there was something seriously wrong with our baby and that she had a sacrococcygeal teratoma," the Plano, mom said in an interview. "And it was very shocking and scary, because we didn't know what that long word meant or what diagnosis that would bring." Sacrococcygeal teratoma is a tumor that develops before birth and grows from a baby's coccyx, the tailbone. Unfortunately, this was not the first bad news of Boemer's pregnancy. Originally, she had been pregnant with twins, but lost one of the babies before her second trimester. Cass explained that the tumor is trying to grow by sucking blood flow from the baby, yet the baby is also trying to grow, too "so it becomes a competition." "And in some instances, the tumor wins and the heart just can't keep up and the heart goes into failure and the baby dies," said Cass. With a large tumor stealing the blood supply, Boemer's fetus was becoming more ill each day, doctors explained to the expectant mother. Something had to be done. Although other doctors had advised her to terminate the pregnancy, Cass and his team told her about another possibility: fetal surgery. This option, though, would not be an easy road. Even worse, her baby's chances of survival would be grim. "LynLee didn't have much of a chance," Boemer said. "At 23 weeks, the tumor was shutting her heart down and causing her to go into cardiac failure, so it was a choice of allowing the tumor to take over her body or giving her a chance at life. "It was an easy decision for us: We wanted to give her life." 'Kind of a miracle' She was 23 weeks and 5 days pregnant, when Cass performed the emergency fetal surgery. By this time, the tumor was nearly larger than the fetus. Cass and Dr. Oluyinka Olutoye, his partner surgeon, operated for about five hours. During the surgery, LynLee's heart slowed down to an incredibly low rate. "It basically stopped," The surgical team removed the bulk of the tumor. When they finished their operation, the surgeons placed LynLee back inside the womb and sewed her mother's uterus shut. "It's kind of a miracle you're able to open the uterus like that and seal it all back and the whole thing works," said Cass. Boemer was on bed rest for the remainder of her pregnancy. Despite her pain, she marshaled her strength and made it another 12 weeks to nearly 36 weeks -- full term -- when Lynlee Hope was born for the second time via C-section on June 6. The little fighter, named for both her grandmothers, weighed 5 pounds and 5 ounces. SOURCE: http://www.changeasoul.org/index.php?topic=297.0

I know it sounds strange but i have been thinking of it recently, lets say a woman wants to get an abortion, couldn't God audibly tell her that it is sinful and not to get it done? I get that free will is why we are able to... but surely it wouldn't be taking away free will for God to simply say not to do something. One could still choose to reject God's command. What do you think? Source: http://www.changeasoul.org/index.php?topic=259.0

Am I the only wife who feels terribly hurt when their husband stares at the well-shaped bodies of other women in public? I don't mean just a passing glance, but a long, fixated stare - so much so that their eyes often follow the (usually young) woman or girl as they walk until they're out of sight, and they sometimes even adjust their stance or seat so they can ogle better and longer. This is most noticeable at the beach but also occurs in many other public areas as well, unfortunately. If I try to gently mention (in private) that it's painful for me as a wife to witness, my husband insists he's doing absolutely nothing wrong and harshly verbally admonishes me, even continuing to the point of giving me the cold shoulder for days afterwards as "punishment." Does this happen in other marriages, or is it just mine? Am I being overly sensitive? Can anyone recommend what I can possibly say to help him understand the hurt it brings me? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Source : http://www.changeasoul.org/index.php?topic=263.msg815;topicseen#msg815

Do you believe that God has made one individual for each person or do you believe that any potential number of people could be a suitable "match" (for a husband or a wife)? What if you marry someone that isn't quite compatible enough -can this ever be a happy marriage or will you feel you "settled" for them and always think "the grass could be greener elsewhere" if that makes sense? A man came to court with a stuffed owl and told the judge that it was his defense attorney. Charles Abbott of Colorado, showed up to a courtroom in Aspen, with his “defense attorney.” Abbott, who was accused of violating a protective order, sat the stuffed owl on the defense table during his court appearance and told the judge that the owl was going to represent him in court. Abbott said that the owl named Solomon, would be his lawyer until a public defender was assigned to the case. “He is a very sensitive guy, and has a law degree from Yale, Harvard and Stanford,” Abbott told the judge. Abbott was in court for violating a protection order involving his former roommate Michael Stranahan. The order was made after Abbott allegedly assaulted Stranahan at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. Stranahan said Abbott violated the order by going to his home to retrieve his belongings. The judge ignored the owl, which had little to say during the procedure, and order the protection order to stay in place. A man of China, who likes to eat feces from women, was caught on video entering a bathroom and eating it. The man, who has not been named, was spotted on many occasions entering the ladies room in a shopping center in Jiangmen, Guangdong. The man was seen eating excrement found in the toilet. According to a security guard at the mall, the man was seen visiting the mall every day since earlier this year. “He usually comes between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. He then leaves and comes back around 3:00 in the afternoon,” the guard said. Women filed complaints about the man walking in on them before they are able to finish flushing. As they ran out the bathroom, the man walked in and took the feces. The man was seen lurking in a nearby women’s bathroom. A doctor at the No. 3 Hospital of Jiangmen City, said that it is very possible that the man has a history of mental illness. The women’s bathrooms in the shopping center are currently closed to the public. Residents are asking the government to get the man the help he needs. A reporter who saw the man coming out of the women’s bathroom, asked him about his unhealthy habit: Reporter: What are you doing here? Man: Eat feces. Reporter: What’s in your hands? Man: It’s feces. Reporter: Why would you do that? Man: I eat it when I am hungry. Reporter: Why do you choose to go to the ladies room? Man: It’s more tasty. A former World record for multiple babies in one pregnancy was broken when an American woman gave birth to 17 babies over 29 hours at the Indianapolis Memorial Hospital. “It was incredible” explains Dr. Jack Morrow who assisted the woman through the whole operation.” The babies kept coming and coming and coming and coming… Man! I think I’m gonna have nightmares about this day for a long time! This was my last delivery!” he adds in disgust. Catherine Bridges and her husband had been trying to have a child for many years and had decided last year to use medical assistance from a fertility clinic in Rhodes Island. The insemination process was definitely successful, as the couple got an entire litter of 17 beautiful and identical boys. The couple has already chosen the names for the boys with an obvious continuity of thought: James, Jacob, Jarod, Jarvis, Jason, Jeffrey, Jeremy, Jerome, Jesse, Jimmy, Joachim, Jonathan, Jonas, Joseph, Julian, Jimbo and surprisingly, Darth Porkinus. (Scroll down for video)…. A teen learned the hard way not to come into contact with a poisonous snake, doctors in Florida said. The Hillsborough County man is recovering after being bitten in the face by the water moccasin. 18-year-old Austin Hatfield captured the 4-foot long snake while swimming last week. Friends of Hatfield said that the teen was trying to kiss the snake when it struck, biting his lips. Hatfield was taken to a hospital in critical condition, but is expected to recover. Cottonmouth snakes, sometimes called water moccasins, are extremely dangerous. Hatfield did not have a permit to keep the snake. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is investigating the incident, and the teen could face charges. (See picture below...) Christian migrants from Africa have spoken of making the perilous journey across the Mediterranean to escape beheading from Islamic State fanatics in Libya. A group of Eritrean refugees told how they were forced to deny their faith or face death at the hands of Islamist gunmen who patrol the towns and beaches of the North African state searching for ‘infidels’. Haben, 19, told MailOnline: ‘We are Christians but we had to deny our faith otherwise the gunmen would kill us, slit our throats and cut off our heads.’ He and his brother Samuel, 14, arrived in Sicily a week ago, just days before around 900 people died when their boat capsized during the same dangerous journey from Libya.Haben said his friends had been shot dead by armed ISIS terrorists who patrol the anarchy-ridden towns and beaches of the country. ‘I have friends – from Eritrea and Egypt – who were killed because they are Christians. The men come around with Kalashnikov and they ask you what is your faith. If you are Christian they take you away and kill you. They cut off your head or shoot you. This is what they have done to hundreds of Christians.’ Aman, 18, said: ‘I had a wooden cross but I had to throw it away to keep my life. The gunmen came around looking for Christians. They said they would kill the infidels, so I cut my cross off my neck and threw it away.’I speak Arabic so I pretended that I was not a Christian, that I pray to their God, and they believed me.’ http://www.umunaija.com/we-did-deny-christianity-to-stop-isis-from-cutting-off-our-heads-african-migrantsphoto/

It’s no secret that some people hate success. If you’re going to the top, you’re guaranteed to make an enemy or two on the way—so it should come as no surprise that, if you experience success, you’ll also cop a fair bit of hate. What should surprise you is who exactly is doing the hating. Believe it or not, it’s going to be your boyfriend. In a joint study between the Universities of Florida and Virginia, researchers got couples to perform a series of five tasks focusing on social or intellectual achievements. They found that while successful results for the male partner made both participants feel happy, successful results for the female partner transformed her boyfriend into a seething bundle of hate. In the afterglow of their partners’ success, most men saw their self-esteem plummet, even if the two had not been in direct competition during the task. This lowered self-esteem manifested itself in a particularly depressing way—the men were more likely to suggest their relationship had no future after watching their partners succeed than if they succeeded. By contrast, the women celebrated their boyfriends’ success, apparently unaware they were going out with total jerks http://www.umunaija.com/the-animal-in-every-manmust-read/

1. Fear is your enemy. Specifically the fear of missing something. In many ways, each decision you make closes doors, but they also open different doors. You know what doesn’t do anything for you? Standing still. Face it. You’re going to have to make decisions, some of them will be tough, some of them will be wrong, but most of them will lead you in a direction you want to go. Take the plunge. Don’t let fear stall you. Fear should fear you. 2. Drake is wrong. Make new friends. Drake has somehow influenced a generation of young people to make “No New Friends,” and it’s just flat silly. Make new friends. Meet new people. Build new relationships. Build together, grow together, learn together, and dominate your young lives together. It’s important to stay connected, and having friends and a large network is a great way to do that. 3. There’s nothing wrong with failing. As long as you learn from it. 4. Invest in yourself. It’s pretty well hammered into our heads that we have to invest. Invest in stocks, bonds, our retirement, 401k, Roth IRA – invest invest invest. But it’s important to invest in yourself. Invest in yourself by reading for pleasure. Invest in yourself by working out. Invest in yourself by treating yourself. Invest in yourself by maintaining your health. You are the greatest investment you’ll ever make. 5. Have a SOFU. SOFU. It stands for Sense Of F*cking Urgency. You need to put in the time to master what it is that you want to do and make connections. You have to work hard. You’ve got to bleed and sweat and cry. You have to earn it. And the only thing that will hold you back is a lack of that SOFU. Have a SOFU. Live it. Breathe it. You’ll achieve the greatness you want. http://www.umunaija.com/5-things-every-20-something-needs-to-know-about-success/

A man fired his legal team and represented himself in court when he asked a judge to put him back in prison. The convicted rapist has asked to be put back in jail because he cannot comply with the conditions of his release. 32-year-old Trevor Byrne of Ireland, was sentenced to 8 years in prison with two years suspended for attempting to rob a 24-year-old woman just 14 hours after being released from prison, where he had served a sentence of 15 years for raping another woman. When he was released from prison, he was under strict conditions, including to stay under close supervision by the probation service and abstain from alcohol. Since his release, Byrne was returned to court in Dublin on numerous occasions. He was accused of breaching the terms of his suspended sentence. He was jailed again for a period of six months after being caught with six cans of beer. Byrne said that he needed to stay away from drugs. He was recently taken back to court by the Probation Services for not being in contact with his officer. Byrne shut off his phone and disappeared repeatedly without notifying his officer. Byrne represented himself at the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. He said that he had fired his legal team because “they do not comply with his instructions.” He told Judge Patricia Ryan that he did not agree to have his life controlled 24/7. “I’m entitled to take a few days out of my life to get my head together. Every time I do better I seem to make things worse,” he told the judge. The judge agreed to revoke the suspended sentence and he was led back to a jail cell by prison officials. A woman called police on her boyfriend after he sent her a video, which showed him having sex with a dog, prosecutors in the United Kingdom said. Now, 34-year-old David Buchanan of Fairford, pleaded guilty to one count of sexual assault at the Swindon Magistrate’s Court. The man’s girlfriend was at work when she received on her mobile phone a 29-second video clip. She opened the video and saw her boyfriend having sex with their dog. When he was arrested, he told officers that he knew he had done something wrong and it was stupid. Buchanan told investigators that he was home alone and wanted to know how it felt to have sex with a dog. Buchanan was ordered to register as a sex offender for seven years. He also received a 12-week suspended sentence for two years, 50 days of rehabilitation, 85 pounds ($127) in fines and 80 pounds ($120) victim surcharge costs.
