We are corp members serving in akwa ibom right now, our lives is been threaten we are in the bush running for my life, running in a land where we dont know, dont know what will happen next,, the thugs snatched and shot at some corpers bt thank the bullet didnt touch anyone, we are about 6 corp members here...pls we need prayers cause this evil men are desperately chasing for corp member and security agents...God save us

The governor of Akwa-ibom state during the swearing parade of batch B 2014 corp members increased their monthly alowance from 6,500 to 10,000 naira monthly, he said the increment is due to cost of accomodation within the state and for transportation, and also that of that of medical students to 78,000 naira with a chance of possible employment.

I donlive int think the identification is a bad idea, its cos of the security challenges in the country, if they will give southerners in the north identification no problem but every1 should be treated in peace and live in peace.

primerose: Hello nairalanders, I am from Akwa Ibom, I schooled here and I want to serve here.. that is batch C 2014. if u are planning on serving here u hv made d right choice. The environment is nice and serene. There are lots of nice places to visit. The transportation system is less stressful. Things are a bit expensive if ur PPA is in Uyo. Accommodation varies. if u are in Uyo metropolis a self contained apartment is from 120k to 150k, a single room is btwn 2k and 4k a mnth while a 1 bedroom flat is from 200k to 250k. It all depends on d area. Other LGAs a self contain cud be like 60k to 80k. Corpers are being paid 6k except ur working for a private firm. Uyo is a cool town and u will like it here. Ciao!

where would you advice me to serve? Uyo town or other local gov't cos i need to save during my nysc period

madridfc: I am currently serving in Eket, Akwa-ibom state, Allawee: the state govt pays corpers 6k/month, doe U won't be paid till after 4months, but if You're a council corper I.e Ur ppa is the Local Govt Council U'll be paid monthly, doe I won't advice U to be a council corper except You don't ve any issue with being jobless for one year doing nothing(Very Boring)..
PPA: The best place to serve is in Uyo, cos some of my frnds re being paid up to 30k/month by their private PPA's.
Teachers: 70% of corpers here are teachers, so the probability of all of U here bcomin teachers is very high. Teaching is fun actually, but very stressful.
Weather Condition :Come with Ur sweaters, because it rains like hell here...infact whenever we see sun its like christmas.
Accommodation: Here in my ppa(Esit-eket LGA) in particular is very cheap: 14k/annum for a single room with tiles n all, but in Uyo, and eket U can get a self contain for bout 70k upwards.
Feeding: well, not that expensive if U can manage.
