A leading pro-Democracy group in Kwara State Nigeria, Kwara Must Change has stated that it can authoritatively report that the All Progressive Congress (APC) will win the November 17th by election taking place in Ekiti, Oke-Ero, Isin and Irepodun federal constituency of Kwara State with over 70% margin.

The group stated, in a statement signed by the Kwara Must Change state coordinator, Yusuf Olatunji that the figure was gotten from its recent survey in the state, particularly in the 4 local government areas where a by election is coming up.

‘’Kwara Must Change survey in the area, which commenced about than 3 months ago was concluded this week and the result indicated that the people of Kwara have been well informed about issues and majority of whom are well prepared for Kwara political liberation’’.

The survey, according to the group engaged 250 people in each of the 4 local government areas where the by election would be taking place and the result shows that more than 70% of the population are ready to vote against any candidate of the Bukola Saraki led dynasty and as the major opposition party in the state, All Progressive Congress (APC) happens to be a beneficiary of the peoples collective resolve to end Saraki’s dynasty once and for all.

Residents in the areas covered noted that, the level of political awareness about the state of affairs in the state is in all time high, as virtually all Kwarans are now more informed than ever before, adding that people who prefer to stick to Saraki led dynasty are doing so for personal reasons.

Reason for the upsurge in public consciousness is not unconnected to the rise in the activities of political movements, civil society groups and establishment of private radio stations.
It was noted that‘’Even in rural areas with low public engagement, the direct engagement of the people by Kwara Must Change (KMC) grassroot network has significantly increased the level of sensitization.

Additionally, the proliferation of private radio stations in the state, particularly radio station that focused on local content also contributed to the astronomic increase in public awareness. It was further noted that, the consistent engagements on these radio stations over time help provide public with valuable insights and perspective about issues that shaped public understanding.

Many also observe that, activities of civil and pro-democracy groups like Kwara Must Change significantly contributed to the mass awareness.

For example, Kwara Must Change consistent engagement with government on all important public issues was credited to have shaped local perception and gave many inspiration to take definite position about their political choices. the group said

The All Progressives Congress has said the Peoples Democratic Party is a damaged product and cannot be trusted with power by Nigerians for not apologising for its 16 years of misrule.

The ruling party also accused the PDP of allegedly churning out fake news , misinformation and using hate
speech as its focal campaign strategies for the 2019 elections.

The National Publicity Secretary of APC, Mallam Lanre Issa- Onilu , stated these in a press release he issued on Wednesday in Abuja while declaring supports for ongoing global media attention and efforts to check the proliferation of fake news.

The party said fake news and other loathsome strategies must be checked, particularly as the country geared up for campaigns ahead of the 2019 elections.

“The consequences of fake news are often dire as it inflames perceived divisions in our communities, fuels hate speech, leads to violence and distorts democratic processes, among others.

“Disturbingly, the country ’s main opposition – Peoples Democratic Party – and its discredited agents have
continued to deploy the loathsome strategy of fake news , misinformation and distortion of facts as focal campaign strategies for the 2019 elections, ” the party said.

Describing PDP as a prodigal party, the APC said it was not surprised at the opposition party’s typical theatrics in an attempt to evade scrutiny for its 16 years of misgovernance.

“It is instructive to the electorate that no lessons have been learnt by the prodigal party. It is indeed clear to the electorate that the PDP is not a party to either be trusted or taken seriously as it has missed out on the opportunity to apologise and show remorse for the cruelty it wrought on our country while in power. What we witness instead is its weekly disgraceful and embarrassing shadow chasing through fake news and
spurious allegations.

“PDP cannot pull the wool over the eyes of the good people of this country. It can cry wolf for all it cares, Nigerians won’t be deceived. PDP remains a damaged product showing no regret for its retrogressive old practices which brought the country to its knees in terms of our infrastructure, economy, security, values and standing among nations of the world."

Atiku is a scammer. His wealth is another over-exaggeration like his " I employ 100k Nigerians" that was busted easily. This is why APC is saying PDP cannot fund the oncoming campaign .

The reality any reasonable person will accept is that the PDP function best when it has access to unlimited government cash. Otherwise the Party members are impotent without money because they are not resourceful, ideologically driven or as intelligent as others.

Was Saraki not the PDP strong man yesterday everyone was touting as next Nigerian President and sure to get PDP ticket? What happened? Atiku dusted Saraki, Tambuwal, Kwanwaso et al with raw cash. That proves the essential point about the PDP. It is all about cash. No cash no effort. Atiku bought PDP delegates but he cannot bankroll campaign on his own in all the Nigerian States and I don't think PDP Governors believe in him enough to sponsor him optimally even as they will still drop something. We will see sha.
