I must disagree with you there! Rhinos are animals-this anthropomorphication,the projection of human like qualities,cuteness,smartness etc,etc interferes with proper wildlife management. Every country allows regulated hunting: here because of high volume NGO noisemakers a childlike mentality sabotages our wildlife management. Btw,when numbers get too high for the carrying capacity of an area guess what the KWS does? They cull!
A single carved tusk with this quality of workmanship can easily fetch 0.5 mn $ on global markets while we're burning ours for the likes of gay busy bodies and their local professional idler cadres. Imagine the loss from the 15 T burn in 2016! Also,much of the time,game exists in marginal areas,semi deserts unfit for land use. What are the locals to do? Its wayyyyy past time to rethink our entire wildlife philosophy.

No offence but supply and demand is and very ever will be the basis of microeconomics.

Demand already outstrips supply hence why Rhino horn is so expensive.... Once legalised supply of Rhino horn will dramatically increase which WILL lower demand and lower the price making it much less attractive for poachers.

And yes you can increase supply since there are already tons of horns in storage as well as Rhino farms with established herds.

Interestingly South Africa's poaching problem started when Rhino horn trade was banned in 2009..... Poaching only started declining when Rhino horn trade was made legal again........ That's not just a coincidence my friend

Making Rhino horn trade will not only save Rhino's but increase their numbers dramatically!!! Back in the 80s white Rhino's were fvcking close to extinction, and if it wasn't for hunting which gave these animals economic value then you wouldn't be seeing white Rhino today....... Legalising rhino horn will have the same effect as hunting has had on game populations

The argument of legalising rhino horn trade is also supported by the Kruger national park. Whom have been the hardest hit by rhino poaching in SA

It's simple supply and demand economics...........there are literally billions of $ worth of confiscated and/or privately owned Rhino horn in SA alone........once legalized you flood the market which would dramatically decrease the price, which in tern would dramatically decrease poaching, once the demand normalizes private Rhino breeders like we have in SA already have well established herds and enough horns to meet demand without killing a single animal......Not just that but because these Rhino now have monetary value , farmers will spend much more on security to protect them......would definitely do a better job than any government I might add

Rhino poaching has already decreased steadily in SA since rhino horn trade has been made legal locally.

Lastly studies suggest their is no long term impact wrt to dehorning......
