hmmmmm, i think i'll go with "visually attracting customers ". i think some of us are mixing marketing and branding all together. no doubt branding falls under marketing. but i think branding deals with the "identity" of a company. under smartsoft's senario for example, i dont think branding has to do with forming a business plan. it's kind of confusing though or should i say mixed up.

I've been thinking about branding this past few months and i want to get into an open discussion about it. very long ago, i use to think only good graphics guys can build branding companies but that is'nt the case nowadays. But thats not only what i want to discuss about. Things i want to discuss about are stated thus:

what's branding all about? what must you be into to call your self a branding company? Is branding all about printing and logos? And to those into this field please educate us more about branding.

Hopefully we'll all learn a thing or 2 from one another.

but its true. if i was to rate nairaland graphics section (vs worldwide) i'll be 30%. i'm sorry man but its true. this is based on what i've seen here. it doesnt mean these guys dont have better works locked up somewhere. and i didnt call anybody's work boring. pls quote me if i said so. i would have ask you to generally rate this section too but im you might be affraid of being attacked. lol. it only makes sense to be able to defend what you say man but i get what you're saying though.

Neo, If all you want to do is evaluate the level of graphics expertise on Nairaland, why don't you start with yourself? What the industry needs is encouragement that would lead to improvement not your kind of attitude. We are a growing industry.
You are not in any position to rate the work here and the term "learners' edition" is more like an insult to people who have actually contributed to the industry. You should encourage people.

i did'nt mean it that way! i try to encourage people who's works i find good.this is'nt primary school man. how am i suppose to encourage someone who's work is'nt good? tell them it's ok? oh, or tell them its good abi? this is graphics we are talking about, it either good or it's not. and i can rate anybody's job here,i dont need to be an administrator or work in an advertising acency or a television station. and i'm sick of this nigerian approach to things "we are a growing industry", "what the industry needs is encouragement". what industry. the industry is grown enough my brother. i was talking about nairaland graphic artists not  "the industry". ofcourse we are blessed here lol!. but im sure u did'nt share what you did on that project here. or i did'nt see it. thats exactly what im saying. its people like you that should keep the forum alive. all a graphics guy can do is showcase his works. people like you that are in the field should be able to throw up challenges and so on. anyways we'll get there soon.

i think this particular section is boring because we dont have a lot of pro graphics guys. as in those that do it for a living so they can share there experiences and challenges. do get me wrong there are good graphics guys here. but most have just a little idea about it.its either you use it for your web designs or something else. if we had guys that did billboards,magazines and so on here i think it'll be more fun.
