Mike Dean has admitted he failed to correct Anthony Taylor's mistake during the clash between Chelsea and Tottenham, because the pair are "mates".

During the ill-tempered clash between the Blues and Spurs last season, with the score at 2-1 in injury time, Cristian Romero pulled the hair of Marc Cucurella in the penalty area at a corner. No foul was given and Spurs won a second corner, from which Harry Kane scored a 96th-minute equaliser. Dean has now admitted that he did not want to cause Taylor "any grief" by sending him to the VAR screen because of their friendship, so opted against intervening.

President Muhammadu Buhari has said an armoured vehicle gift given to him by former Kano State governor and now presidential candidate of Nigerian National Peoples Party, NNPP, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, helped him survive a bomb attack in Kaduna in 2014.
He stated this in a documentary, titled ‘Essential Muhammadu Buhari, which aired yesterday.

In July 2014, Buhari’s convoy was affected after multiple blasts rocked the Kawo area of Kaduna State.

Buhari, who was contesting the presidency at the time, had later said he was the target of the bomb attack, which resulted in the death of scores of people.

Reflecting on the incident in the documentary, Buhari said Rabiu Kwankwaso, who was governor of Kano State, at the time, gifted him the vehicle he was travelling in when the blast occurred.
“I think Kwankwaso was being generous. He gave me an armoured Land Rover vehicle. He said I should use it because he believed the competition I was going on involved people who would like to eliminate me.

“I was going to Kano from Kaduna in that jeep and a vehicle wanted to overtake us but my escort stopped them and they detonated the bomb.

“When I looked, I saw pieces of human beings. None of us in the vehicle were injured. But somehow I saw blood on me because of the number of people killed outside by the bomb,” Buhari said

ABUJA–The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Tuesday, sentenced the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba to three months in prison for disobeying a valid court order.

The court, in a ruling that was delivered by Justice M. O. Olajuwon, held that the IGP should be committed to prison and detained in custody for a period of three months, or until he obeys an order it made since October 21, 2011.

“If at the end of the three months, the contemnor remains recalcitrant and still refuses to purge his contempt, he shall be committed for another period and until he purges his contempt”, the court held.

The IGP’s committal followed a suit that was filed by a police officer, Mr. Patrick Okoli, who was unlawfully and compulsorily retired from the Nigerian Police Force.

Justice Olajuwon noted that though the Police Service Commission, PSC, recommended Okoli’s reinstatement into the Police, a decision that was affirmed by the court, the IGP, refused to comply with the order.

The court had also ordered the payment of N10million to the Applicant, being special and general damages for the unlawful, illegal and unconstitutional denial of his rights and privileges as a Senior Officer of the Nigeria Police Force from 1993 till date.
